Welcome to Just Shapes & Beats: The S3RL Trilogy

The S3RL Trilogy is a series of Just Shapes & Beats fan story comics that are set to mimic the original gameplay of Story Mode while adding all-new twists, characters, locations, and music to jam out to. So far, it sets an overarching lore for Cyon's interpretation of the Just Shapes & Beats universe, which is up-to-date, even up to more recent content updates like The Lost Chapter.

The S3RL Trilogy has been in the works since 2019, however it has not seen any resurgence as of 2023. Initially, the S3RL Trilogy used MediBang Paint on mobile and PC to create the panels, but was recently moved to Inkscape as the main medium with the help of HexaCryonic teaching Cyon how to use the program.

There are currently three stories:

Hexagon's Adventure - Set after Story Mode, join Hexagon, the Fifth Guardian, in his very own origin story and how he stopped an ongoing alien invasion from taking over Paradise.

Pentagon & the Fiveside Force - Set many months after Hexagon's Adventure, Pentagon and his two friends Helicopter and PentaBoss are unexpectedly invited into a great space mission with the Fiveside Force to save the entire universe from an even bigger threat. This spans four acts.

More Shapes + Raves - The third and final story in the Trilogy, and the longest by far. Two dimensions are threatened by the second uprising of the Neko Nation (a group of cat-bosses) after their leader Fresh has stolen the golden Ravortexia headphones, and Square has gone missing. After being captured, Triangle & Boat alongside a new captive soon find themselves being transported into Raver Dimension, and it's up to them to save Raver Dimension, reunite the mysterious Rave Six, and stop Fresh from conquering the best of both worlds.

Pentagon lands another hit on Octagon... what a dastardly surprise! Wait a minute... is that an unexpected intruder? SOMEONE LAUNCHED A GREEN ARM INTO THE ARENA, NOT EXPECTED! And the green coloration and pentagon motifs make me think he seems related..."

"OH FOR APEIROGON'S SAKE! Look at this unexpected boss battle! Octagon is forced to contend against what I'd call by his conjectural title, 'The Five-sided Beast'! He has his own arsenal of attacks, ranging from pentagon projectiles to sawblades, pulse bombs, and even gears! This battle seems tough cookie, as the Five-sided Beast manages to land a hit on Octagon due to the latter's careless movements!"

"THE BEAST REVEALS HIMSELF! Looks like this guy bears a resemblance to some sort of a Mekkan prototype, but he's unleashing his power- OH. MY. GOODNESS. He's got a laser arm and sharp paws, too. That's UNHINGED!"

Meanwhile, PentaBoss says this out loud: "It is TIME that I dispatch the competition as fast as I can. Give it up, you shadowy SHAPE!"

"Octagon's going super swift in his movements, managing to dodge most of the Fiveside Beast's laser and pulse bomb attacks. He then uses his telekinetic powers to coax his opponent Pentagon into rejoining the battle, and then brings in some pink chaos! Pentagon cannot be harmed by green attacks, which is uhh... something new brought to the table! AND HERE COMES SOME MORE CHAOS, hang on to your seats everyone, the climax is REAL!

OH!! LOOK AT OCTAGON GO! HE'S BRINGING BACK HIS SQUAREBOI HELPERS WITH HIS TRIANGLES. NOW HE'S GONNA BECOME AN UNSTOPPABLE CHAMP!"

"YEEEEEEEAAAH! AND HE LANDS A POWERFUL LASER BLAST ON THE TWO! Pentagon's on his final hit, and the Five-sided Beast has been kicked out of the battle in double-time. The crowd's ABSOLUTELY going to love this insane comeback from the undefeated OCTAGON!"

About the future of this blog

Hello everyone, EleCyon here, running the "pentriahex" blog dedicated to Just Shapes & Beats: The S3RL Trilogy. I want to talk about the future of this blog considering that the S3RL Trilogy has been under an indefinite hiatus for over three years.

As of now, it is really unlikely at this moment I would be able to continue More Shapes + Raves as I've moved on to other interests, especially in the Super Cat Tales and Kirby series. I also lack the motivation to continue re-posting the Pentagon & the Fiveside Force panels over to this blog. Who knows if I might find a spark again in getting back into Just Shapes & Beats once again? I do hold out for something one day, but I'm not too sure about it.

So what's the future gonna be holding for the blog's legacy? Starting now, I'll be rebranding the blog into a new general blog of mine hosting content I've made so far that isn't exclusively Just Shapes & Beats related. This includes other passion projects I've made (Captain Toad: Prism Star Quest, Super Cat Wars, etc.) as well as announcements for upcoming songs/videos I'm making on my YouTube channel. The blog may be renamed to reflect my current name as well.

I may also reach out into reblogging more content that isn't JSAB-related, so you might see me reblog stuff from the Kirby series or any other franchises I like to talk about a lot. I think it might give you some more food for thought on how would the variety of this blog be increased going forward.

Regarding the new name of the blog

So for anyone asking, "what would be the new name of this blog"?

It'd be named "cyonofgaia", to match with my current username across YouTube and Discord, as well as the name being in reference to a lore thing I'm working on for my Kirbysona.

Although it's named like that, the blog will still be dedicated to posting about my passion projects and other fun stuff, including art as well. It's not exclusively about my own sona, you know. There's lots more things to enjoy as well.

The S3RL Trilogy blog will be kept up as pentriahex, however, it will be relegated to a secondary blog instead, as I cannot switch out primary and secondary blogs. This is for the foreseeable future in the event I wish to go back and finish the S3RL Trilogy once and for all.

Captain Lycanthropy and Captain Squad Square have been quickly disposed of. It's up to Pentagon & Lima to reach the battleship Galaxterminator Ω and rescue their friends. The exit is now open, and the two must leap into deep space.

Scrambling through the galactic fleet of Starshooters, Pentagon & Lima eventually reach the hull of the Galaxterminator Ω. They must find a way to get inside...

But lo and behold, it looks as they might have already found it. Floating underneath what appears to be an entrance tube, Lima & Pentagon are immediately beamed up into the ship by a glowing pink tractor beam.

S3RL ft. KRYSTAL - THE PERFECT RAVE | Galactic Shadow Guardian - OCTAGON

"And here we are! This fight's off to a good start, as both Guardians try to dodge pillars and a spree of flying particles. Now, the vocals will kick in to bring in the action for the two Guardians to start fighting, as spike ball rows and lasers fill the arena."

"Whoa! Octagon's landed the first hit on Pentagon. Now this battle's truly rocking it, and you can leave it up to yourselves to interpret the action."

"And now... for the intermission. Pentagon's got his first attack right on spot, and now the two Guardians must continue battling within a section full of pulsating octagons. Seems like Octagon really loves to represent himself- OH!!!! OH!!! HE'S LANDED A SECOND HIT TOO! What a big shot! (The crowd starts going wild)

And it looks like he's calling in two SquareBois to bring him corrupted triangles and... transform into a Super Guardian!? That's a technique I've seen before. It may look like cheating to you, but it's actually not in the rules either!"

(First Drop initiates with the first transformation into a Super Guardian.)

"AND WHOA!! HE'S ABSOLUTELY UNHINGED! HE'S GOT THE POWER, Y'KNOW! This five-sided gremlin deserves some PAYBACK!"

"Super Octagon gets ready to blast Pentagon at full-power, and he's practically UNSTOPPABLE! But Pentagon makes some swift dodging here and there, making sure his evasiveness won't let him down!

AND OOOOH! Super Octagon managed to blast some serious damage onto him. Looks like he ain't fast as we originally thought! Pentagon then continues dodging through several rotating spike bars, pillars, and pulsating tracks shaped like octagons... and still, he continues to evade Super Octagon's laser beams before he runs out of power and turns back into his regular form!

Oh dear. It looks like a mysterious Shadow Guardian has come into play... and it's the first of its kind to be encountered by our hero. The unseen announcer continues to deliver his introduction...

"Our long-reigning champion, OCTAGON, is back for another match, ready to maintain his winning streak! He's been training himself since his conception from the Tree of Vile, the League of Penumbra's original power source on their home planet.

Oh, and here's today's match! Our unstoppable champion of the GBR, Shadow Guardian OCTAGON, is ready to square off against... Pentagon? A heroic, uncorrupted Guardian? There's no way! His past few opponents have been holographic simulations of Guardian shapes, but this one's a real deal, but he ain't taking this lightly."

Now, today's match is... LIGHT GUARDIAN PENTAGON vs. SHADOW GUARDIAN OCTAGON! Contestants, proceed to the boss beacon immediately."

"Looks like the audience has decided that we get a new song to pump up the excitement of this showdown! LET THE PERFECT RAVE BEGIN!"

As the heroes continue their escape, they're halted by a blast door. Luckily, there's a level beacon nearby that will give Pentagon the necessary purity triangle to unlock the door and proceed... or not. A Virufly swarm ambushes the heroes, alongside with a larger variant - the Guardian Catcher.

"PENTAGON! WAIT!! NO!!!" everyone cried out as they tried to stop the Guardian Catcher before it's too late.

Pentagon was captured. He tried to call out to his friends, but to no avail. The Guardian Catcher carries him through a mechanical vent, leading him to another area in the Galaxterminator...

It turns out to be a battle stadium... for Guardians!?

"Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to the latest episode of the League of Penumbra GUARDIAN BATTLE ROYALE!"

After the battle, Captain Percival and Pentagon go over to Minos' unconscious body.

"First Lieutenant... First Lieutenant! Are you okay? Please... say something!" Captain Percival called out to Minos, in the hopes of him returning to his senses.

And of course, he did. "C-Captain? Is that you?" The two are reunited, and Minos says hi to Pentagon & Helicopter, among some of the new recruits in the Fiveside Force.

"Pentagon, and that little helicopter friend, I'm Minos, First Lieutenant of the Fiveside Force. I'm also known as the creator of the Pentan Gondola, the spaceship that was used by all of us."

Minos had to explain everything...

"Before the invasion of the League of Penumbra on Planet No.5, I have built the Pentan Gondola over several weeks, all by my own doing. The Pentan Gondola was our last resort when all defenses have failed to protect the planet, and we'd use it to evacuate most of our citizens and all of the Fiveside Force.

Unfortunately, during the height of the invasion, our escape plan failed. Captain Lycanthropy and Squad Square managed to capture me and Cassie, and induct both of us into the League of Penumbra. Your Captain, J-10, Lima, and some of the Planet No.5 citizens were among the only ones who successfully managed to escape through the ship. As I was captured, I never knew what happened to your Captain until he came to the Galaxterminator with you and the other new recruits to rescue me.

I once again thank you for rescuing me from the clutches of the League of Penumbra. And now, I seek revenge, for what they've done to the Fiveside Force last time, and what they've done to how I perceived this world. Now, we must put our plans in full force, and stop Lord Apeirogon and his league from their greedy deeds."

"IIIIIIII-INCOMING!!!" PentaBoss shouted as he interrupts the scene by bursting through with some more Mekkan destruction.

"There's one more recruit, huh!" Minos exclaimed. "But we got no more time! Let's escape the spaceship together!" And our heroes fled the commotion as fast as they can.

ZEF - TENSION = Vs. Minos - Betrayal to the Team: War Leader #3

The level starts with pulse bombs exploding to the beat of the music. Pentagon is greeted with a warning bar that reveals a moving conveyor belt.

"Pentagon, let's go!" Captain Percival jumps into the scene. And Minos enters in as well. "Time to say goodbye, Captain Cowardly."

Captain Percival clashes against Minos, both with their sword and electric powers, all while moving on a conveyor belt. Meanwhile, Pentagon dodges the battle while dealing with pulse bombs and pulsating tracks that fly in to the right.

By the time the song reaches its first major build-up, Minos manifests several flashing energy balls to distract Captain Percival.

Minos flies around the level, leaving electric sparks and fields in his wake. He then rotates several energy balls to give Pentagon less room for dodging. As Captain Percival finds an opportunity to strike, he's zapped by Mino's electric powers, causing a lot of energy beams to shoot out. "GRAAAH! You're on your own..." Percival cried in pain, as Pentagon is now forced to do this battle solo.

Pentagon faces 1-on-1 with Minos. Lightning bolts summoned by Minos strike in groups, and flurries of energy balls fly out from him in five directions, almost ready to end Pentagon's presence on the round. Off-screen, Captain Percival readies a surprise attack, tossing his sword at Minos, hitting him right on the head and ending the battle almost immediately.

"Oh my. It can't be... my loyal First Lieutenant in charge... Minos! Hey! You're... you're not yourself anymore. What did they even do to you?"

Minos then rebuked. "Well then, Captain Cowardly. Do you expect me to be still part of your FIVESIDE DORKS, huh? You failed your own planet. You failed our defenses. You FAILED us all."

And Captain Percival had to correct himself. "All of this is NOT TRUE, First Lieutenant! We did our bes-"

But before Captain Percival could finish, Minos stopped him.

"Well, I don't think you really did your best, after all. And because of you, I decided that all peacekeeping will be finally OVER, and that I will be turning myself to the dark side. The League of Penumbra really did overshadow all your efforts, and I saw hope in them, especially their leader, Lord Apeirogon."

Captain Percival is surprised about Lord Apeirogon's mention. "You absolutely are out of your mind, First Lieutenant! Do you not know what are Lord Apeirogon's true intentions? Evil, I'd say. EVIL! He's threatening to steal away the Prism Core for himself, which can put the universe at a terrible fate."

"Not so fast, 'Captain'. This is for the better good. Or the better bad, you might say? The Prism Core's power is indeed fascinating. The potential to make all of us great and strong will soon be in our hands, especially Lord Apeirogon's! And it'll be over before you know it, FIVESIDE DORKS.

And now... for the final verdict.

Captain Percival... you will be SENTENCED TO DEATH. By the word of our Lord Apeirogon, anyone who is a member of the Fiveside Force or any rebellious space organization will be given a death sentence. ALL HAIL THE APEIROGON!"

As Captain Minos chanted, so did the rest of the Apeiro Council, as they took Captain Percival away for the kill.

"ALL HAIL THE APEIROGON!"

Danimal Cannon - INTENSE THEME

Just before Captain Percival is carried away for execution, Pentagon, Helicopter, J-10, and Lima spring into action to save their friend and leader.

"Now, MINOS. Before you absolutely give up on me, my new Fiveside Force will be there to teach you a lesson!" Captain Percival said.

"Oh how fun, Captain Cowardly! I see your new members are super strong. But regardless, that doesn't matter, for I still play by my own rules. Guards, take them all away too-"

Minos is then interrupted by a sudden appearance of a boss level beacon, knocking him away. Such convenient timing leads Helicopter to toss Pentagon at the beacon to directly confront Minos and end this all.

"Try to stop me, I dare you. The TENSION is rising between both of us, and I'm going to end it." Minos said as he directly combats both Captain Percival and Pentagon in battle.

SONG: ZEF - TENSION

As the heroes proceed through the interior of the Galaxterminator, they soon find the rest of their friends, Helicopter and J-10, trapped in two chambers. Each level corresponds to the friend that needs to be freed from said chamber.

Pentagon frees J-10 and Helicopter, after completing the levels. Everyone then gets ready to proceed to the next hallway and rescue Captain Percival while PentaBoss holds back the Mekkan guards.

The heroes eventually stumble upon the Judgment of Great Space, a vast, towering platform where captives are to be judged by the Apeiro Council, led by a mysterious traitor.

"Hey! Let go of me!" Percival cried as he struggled to free himself from the grasp of corrupted soldiers.

The leader of the Apeiro Council, Minos, reveals himself. Session in court has begun.

When Pentagon & Lima woke up, they find themselves in the heart of the Galaxterminator. The interior has quite a familiar-looking appearance with some embellishments from the League of Penumbra.

"INTRUDER ALERT - INTRUDER ALERT - Members from the FIVESIDE FORCE have been detected. Initiating security measures..."

Lima and Pentagon have been surprised big-time by the Mekkan guards who have took notice of these intruders who broke into the spaceship's interior. All they need to do is to FLEE.

MUSIC: S3RL ft. DEFI Brilator - Spoiler Alert

As Pentagon & Lima try to flee from the Mekkans, they find themselves at a chamber where PentaBoss' fragments are being held. As the Mekkans struggle to get through the hallway, Pentagon must think fast and complete a level.

After clearing the level, PentaBoss' fragments are freed and merged into one again, but not before a Mekkan is about to beat him back. However, a past memory was inherited by him, from the first time he was captured, and soon he retaliates with a set of brand new powers.

New username + Check the Interdimensional Library

Hey everyone, it's me Cyon. So with the influx of new Tumblr users, I want to once again attempt to put this account out of hiatus. I'll be doing my best to post all the Pentagon & the Fiveside Force updates (which were originally done in 2019) and move on to working on More Shapes + Raves, the final story in the S3RL Trilogy.

First, I want to tell you that this blog now goes under a new name, known as PENTRIAHEX. The username is supposed to be a reference to the guardians that represent the S3RL Trilogy which are Pentagon, Triangle, and Hexagon, and now accurately represents more the intent of this Tumblr blog.

Additionally, if you want to view all the new panels, including the complete Fiveside Force comic, check Interdimensional Library (INT-LIB). Everything's all ready to go, though some parts may be still a work in progress.

BOSS LEVEL - Kitsune^2 (RENARD QUEENSTON) : Get Out There

Squad Square & Captain Lycanthropy

The two main captains of the Galaxterminator Squad square up against a five-sided hero to slow them down from regaining custody of the ship and rescuing their friends. And they'll have to go frantic mode on him with their cohorts in order to do so.

The fight begins with four spiked walls coming in from four sides, similar to Lycanthropy's intro. Squad Square lifts up a mechanical wall to leave less room for Pentagon, and then starts to dance with four Flower soldiers. Squad Square then spawns a bunch of squares that nearly cover the entire screen.

Gears roll across the stage, and Flower bombs pop up to release more bullets for Pentagon to avoid. Captain Lycanthropy gets on the action, blasting spiked balls in curved arcs while summoning SquareBoi soldiers. Both captains spawn more squares and lasers on two sides, and the two finally dance together with their cohorts to try and stop Pentagon once and for all.

It's been a while. But we're bringing this Tumblr back from the dead.

Welcome back, fellow Tumblr folk or something or whatever lol. It's me, Hexelectron, AKA agenthexagon on Tumblr.

It's been a while since I last used this Tumblr page, as I've moved the posting of the S3RL Trilogy comics to Discord, especially in places like the Berzerk Studio discord and Comic Observatory. But since college is rolling in, there's a huge chance I'm about to distance myself from Discord for quite a long time... as in becoming less active on it.

So how's the S3RL Trilogy going? It's still going, but the final story in the series, More Shapes + Raves, is still on Act 1 and is on hiatus. Why is it on hiatus? I'm currently working on Super Cat Wars, my Super Mario War mod, which is my second project that is near completion. Right now, I have plans to get this Tumblr back on track, as I'm probably not going to use Discord a lot to post my comics due to incoming college life. This Tumblr will now be used to post the entirety of More Shapes + Raves, and I'll be creating a Google Drive or MEGA page to upload all my panels to one place for everyone to download and catch up to what they missed so far.

So hey everyone, @agenthexagon here. Apologies for the lack of Fiveside Force panels on my Tumblr... I barely used this site for anything haha.

Why did I include this logo in my post? Well, I'm proud to announce my latest fanstory to complete the trilogy of JSAB stories:

Presenting MORE SHAPES + RAVES, an all new JSAB-themed musical starring Triangle and Boat!

The idea for this story has been around since half-way through Fiveside Force's story, if you are wondering. This used to be called "Heroes in Raver Dimension", named after Kirby Star Allies' gamemode "Heroes in Another Dimension".

The idea for S3RL Trilogy came from the fact that all of my stories used the artist's music in various bosses, even the latest 2019 ones. Some people didn't like the fact that he was the top contender in the OST of my stories, so I'm turning my stories into a trilogy so that future stories will include less S3RL music. (I'm a huge fan of him, mind you.)

About Pentagon & the Fiveside Force, I fully completed the story on JSAB Comic Corner and 3mp1r3 HQ. Since I'm such a lazy bum, I won't be posting panels of the story and MSPR on my Tumblr anymore, but I'll still post comic shorts there.
