Basically (I do not know if this is a thing in other countries), they were just a kid waiting for their turn in a spider fight before someone's matchbox "accidentally" "dropped" and 3 mutated spiders escaped.

Why is Pen a hero now? Well~ She wants to live as normal as possible, but like— there is some guy releasing mutated spiders into activities done by 12-16 year olds. They cannot be normal about this if they tried. "At least I can help people while I try to find this man mutating random people around my fucking town"
