I know we already talked about Jun-ho's expression/Wi Ha-jun's acting during the cliff scene and I know my blog probably feels like a broken record at this point but

I know it's just a quick clip here but man. Immediately at the reveal and when he gets shot his expression looks very blank in the sense that he's feeling a million things but it's so overwhelming that he can't react. But here? Poor Jun-ho looks like he's about to cry. Like he can't believe what's in front of him (or doesn't want to). Like he wants all of this to have just been a bad dream. Like he feels like a scared little boy who just wants his brother - the version of him before everything went wrong - back.

don't mind me just thinking abt the fact that after 30 years and memory-gun-usage-related decline ford still immediately recognizes fiddleford when they meet during weirdmageddon

squid game au that i thought abt for like 2 seconds where both hwang bros are in the games undercover (for diff reasons of course, with in-ho trying to manipulate/break down gi-hun like in canon while jun-ho is helping gi-hun take down the games) but each of them doesn't know the other is there until they're both in the room together so not only is in-ho hiding that he's the front man but both of them are hiding from gi-hun and everyone else that they're brothers and that they both Know what's up

losing my mind. jung-bae's death is both one of the biggest and one of the only moments we see such an intense emotional reaction from gi-hun in season 2

gi-hun is fairly outwardly emotional/expressive in season 1, but after the games he becomes much more outwardly cold and hardened and closed-off, not showing a lot of emotion, positive or negative. he still feels those emotions but the first games he was in changed him and a lot of what we see is more subtle (slight smile when talking to young-il, subtly trembling when other players are killed, etc)

his reaction to jung-bae's death is one of the strongest and most raw displays of emotion we see from him in season 2 and the fact that through most of the season we've only seen a fraction of how expressive he used to be just makes that moment hurt so so much worse

me when i'm looking through sibling tropes on tv tropes and none of them have the hwang bros as an example

i've barely thought in depth abt this so it very likely doesn't actually work but squid game au where gi-hun notices sae-byeok's injury sooner and tries to get help for it like in the scene in the show and sang-woo still goes to try to kill her like in the show but gi-hun manages to stop him and either he or both of them try to help her with her injury or the game staff do smth abt it (probably unlikely tho) and they do end up voting to leave (maybe they vote to leave while sae-byeok is still injured but because they decided to leave they treat her injury then or smth. i imagine they treated gi-hun's injuries after the final game before taking him home in the show but maybe i'm being too generous) and the 3 of them just have this thing going on that's kind of like found family but not (worse) but is mostly just them trying to cope with their experience in the games and sang-woo still having resentment to both of them for having them leave without the money and gi-hun kinda feeling that way toward sang-woo for trying to kill sae-byeok and prioritizing the money over their lives (among other things he did) but also they still care abt each other (and of course gi-hun and sae-byeok care about each other too (and maybe over time sae-byeok and sang-woo grow to tolerate and then care about each other too)) and idk where i'm going with this i just want the misery and resentment and something that's kinda like found family but more fucked up than that
