Chapter Three: Michigan Style
When Barbara and Jason got home, Jim was gone. He'd left a note saying that he would be back late. Jason and Barbara had dinner, and she went out as Batgirl. Jason tried to sleep, but he found himself tossing and turning. Jason rolled out of bed and went to the kitchen to make himself a cup of tea. He warmed the milk on the stove, and he read through one of his library books. Jim came in from work and locked eyes with Jason. "Oh, hey there. I wanted to talk to you..."
Jason's heart dropped into the pit of his stomach, and he swallowed hard. "You want me to leave?" Jason asked. Jim shook his head.
"No, I don't want you to leave, son... I just wanted to know if you knew where your birth certificate was," Jim replied. Jason shook his head. "Well, Jason... The thing is, I went looking for it, and I found it. Eleven-forty-nine p.m. in Gotham City Hospital—."
"Yeah," Jason interrupted to move Jim forward.
"What is your mother's name?" Jim asked.
"Catherine," Jason answered. Jim took a deep breath. "That's her name. I'm not lying," Jason raised his voice slightly, and Jim gestured for him to keep his volume down.
"No, I know you're not lying. I just wanted to make this easy on you... I just don't know how to put it. Jason, your mother's name is Sheila Haywood—."
"So what if she went by a different name? It doesn't mean—."
"I don't think you understand. Sheila Haywood is a different person, and that after a bit of digging, I found out that she has been missing since you were a baby," Jim whispered, "Jason... Look—."
Jason's head started to spin, and he turned the fire off on the stove and went back to his room to lie down. Jim turned the milk on and finished making the tea. He made two cups and knocked on Jason's door. "Jason, it's chamomile," Jim whispered. Jason took a shaky breath and wiped tears from his eyes. "I'm so sorry, son..."
"Catherine is my mom," Jason cried as he faced the wall. Jim crouched by Jason's bed and sat the mug down on Jason's nightstand.
"Yes, yes she is. Jason, nothing changes that... It's just that I wanted you to know because if I do find her—."
"Why do you think she disappeared?" Jason asked as he sat up and wiped his tears away. Jim waited for Jason to take a sip of his tea.
"I don't know," Jim whispered. Jason continued to sip his tea, and Jim wrung his hands. "Babs said you went to work with her. How was that?"
Jason shrugged. "What'd she say to you? How'd she make you let me stay here?" Jason asked. Jim smiled.
"She said that someone has to look out for you... You know she must see something special in you to fight for you like that," Jim answered him. "I want you to know that this can be your home too if you want it to be."
Jason set the mug on the nightstand and lay down facing Jim. "We'll see, Commissioner... We'll see," Jason mumbled.
"Goodnight," Jim murmured.
Jason drifted off to sleep only to be startled awake by Barbara. "Hush... Jason, shh," Barbara whispered. Jason clutched his chest and grimaced at her.
"What?" he mouthed angrily.
"I thought you were crying, so I came to wake you up. I'm sorry," Barbara apologized. Jason closed his eyes and sank back into his pillow. Barbara fixed his blankets and went back across the hall.
Jason slept until noon the next day, and when he woke up, he searched for Barbara but found Jim instead. "Babs is at work, so it's just you and me for right now," Jim explained. Jason's face went grim. "I was just about to sit and watch tv... D'you like action movies?"
Jason nodded. "I'm gonna go brush my teeth," Jason replied. Jim nodded. "Hey... If you find her, would it be okay for me to meet her?"
Jim nodded. "If I find Sheila, I wouldn't think to keep you from her," Jim replied. Jason grinned and turned back, and went to the bathroom. Jim went to the kitchen, boiled hot dogs, and put on a can of chili. He wasn't quite sure what to say to Jason, but he had to admit it did feel nice to have a child in the house.
Jason stepped out of the bathroom and met Jim in the kitchen. "Can I help?" Jason asked. Jim nodded.
"Wanna get the chips and put the sodas on the table?" Jim requested. "You look a lot like him."
"I know... Everyone says I look like him," Jason mumbled. He hated to hear it most of the time, but he had to admit it was nice for Jim to acknowledge that Jason had a family before he got there. "Why are you being so nice to me?"
"You're just a kid... And I know how easy it can be to get into trouble as a kid when there's no one to look after you," Jim explained. Jason cocked his head. "Don't look at me like that. I got in my fair share of trouble when I was your age." Jim chuckled, and Jason grinned. "What'd you say to Babs to get her to like you so much?"
"I don't know... I wish I did. She sort of tricked me into coming here, but I'm glad she did," Jason answered with a sweet-natured shrug.
Jim stirred the chili and shrugged in return. "Is the movie rated R?" Jason asked, a mischievous grin spreading across his face.
"PG-13," Jim held back his laugh as he made their chili dogs and put them on a platter. "Do you wanna get two plates for the table?"
Jason nodded and grabbed the plates, and set them down on the coffee table. Jim set the platter down and turned the movie on. Jason started eating, and Jim poured a few chips onto Jason's plate. "He's odd, isn't he?" Jim asked, and Jason giggled. They both started laughing. "Wanna finish off the chili?"
Jason nodded, and Jim got up and went to the kitchen. "Want me to pause the movie?" Jason asked. Jim shook his head, and Jason poured a few more chips onto their plates. Jim gave Jason a bowl of chili, and they went back to watching the movie.
When they were more than halfway through the movie, Jim got a call from Barbara. "Hey, Pumpkin," Jim greeted her.
"Is Jason okay?" Barbara asked. "I didn't want to wake him up again... Otherwise I would've taken him with me—."
"We're just watching a movie," Jim paused and glanced over at Jason. "It's Barbara. She wants to know if you're doing alright." Jason smiled at him.
"Tell her I'm having fun," Jason smiled. Jim grinned and nodded.
"He said he's having fun," Jim repeated for Barbara.
"That's good... Um, I'm sorry you had to watch him on your day off," she apologized.
"Don't worry about it. Jason's great," Jim reassured her. She let out a sigh of relief. "Don't worry. He's fine. Enjoy your lunch."
"Thanks, Dad. See you later," Barbara replied before hanging up. Jim looked over at Jason.
"Like it or not, I think you've got yourself a sister," Jim joked, "She was worried about you."
Jason looked up from his bowl of chili, and he wanted to say something, but he couldn't find the right words. "You said I was great," Jason whispered, "Is she worried that I'll get on your nerves?"
Jim shook his head. "No, I think she's worried that I'll get on your nerves. Or maybe she's afraid she'll come back, and you'll be old and boring like me," Jim joked. Jason snorted before letting out a laugh. "See, I told Babs I was funny." Jason shook his head.
"Just old," Jason joked, and Jim playfully nudged him.
They finished watching the movie, and Jason offered to do the dishes. Jim said no at first, but Jason insisted. While Jason cleaned up, Jim started preparing dinner.
"This is nice... I wasn't sure if I should say anything at first, but with Barbara being so busy sometimes, it's nice to have another kid in the house," Jim confessed. Jason frowned, and Jim thought that he'd said something wrong.
Jason wanted it to feel normal, but he knew how good new things could seem. He knew how horrible things could get once the newness faded, so he said nothing.

🍂 Does your OC enjoy hugs? What do they do as a show of affection for: their friends, their family, their significant other(s) or for strangers? Over all what are they like with recieving affection from others?
For Catherine and Oleander
Catherine
Catherine is a hugger. Loves them. But of course she'll ask if you're okay with that kind of physical contact first!
She developed a deep love of cooking for others helping her grandfather in the kitchen, since in his prime he was a caterer/chef. At the hospital in which she works, she is known for the best deviled eggs and Snickerdoodles which she brings to the Christmas party every year.
Oleander (CW: abuse)
She's trying to get used to physical affection, since growing up her parents didn't give her much, if any. She had to walk on eggshells out of fear of being slapped or beat with a paddle or switch for even the smallest of things. To them she was more a meal ticket to more wealth and influence/incubator with legs than a person.
But hanging around the Origin/Other characters she's realizing that they like her for her, not her status/lineage.
Having the freedom to express herself with her magic she likes to use illusions to entertain/thank the party (with the slightest chance of her wild surge happening).

Paradise Undone |2 | S. McGarrett
Two
Emily bade her oldest brother goodbye and made him promise to be careful before she slipped out of the office and waited in the hallway until Steve followed her and pulled her into the stairwell. His mouth covered hers desperate like he had the last night they had in Japan. "Steve, I'm so sorry about your dad." She mumbled against his mouth, "I tried to get out of my shift to go but McCormick wouldn't let me leave." Sara McCormick was her superior officer and hated Emily and how quick she was on her feet and the smart-ass attitude she had when she knew she was right.
Which was a lot of the time and they both knew it.
He shook his head as if he were waving her statement.
He didn't want to see her in a moment of weakness. She only knew him as a strong leader and that's what she needed to keep picturing him as. "You don't have to be strong all the time. Not around me." Not wanting to talk about it, he pressed a bruising kiss on her mouth. The vibrating of her phone pulled them apart and she muttered a curse. She pulled it out of her scrub pocket and groaned when she saw the message, "Sorry, I got to go back to base." "Come over later.' It wasn't a question, it was an order. "Of course." She returned with a smirk as he bent his head to kiss her again. "Go, we don't need Sara punishing you for being late again." She pressed another kiss to his mouth again before going down the stairs.
***
Emily was still tingling when she walked into the hospital. She knew that Steve had been back in Hawaii for the funeral but she didn't realize he had stayed. Of course he had, he wasn't going to rest until the man who killed his father was caught. But what surprised her the most was him working with her ultra stuffy serious older brother.
"You good Williams?" McCormick asked as she came around the counter and placed her phone down on the desk.
"I am fine, my brother just got hurt and I went to double-check his injury." She answered.
The older woman gave her a look, 'It's not that. You saw McGarrett."
Emily pursed her lips together and picked up the files that were on the desk to go through. "McGarrett? As in Commander McGarrett? The man you almost got court-martialed for?" Jane, one of the the other nurses who had been with them for a long time asked as she joined them.
"That would be the one." The lead nurse returned a smirk pulling at the corner of her mouth, knowing that she would be getting under Emily's skin.
"His father died, he is on the Island." The blonde said shortly as she started flipping through the files. "Did you see him?"
"Yes, he is my brother's new partner." The former New Yorker finally spat, knowing that she wouldn't be able to keep it from them forever "And no we don't need to talk about it. It's not any of your business."
"It may not be our business now Sargent but when he breaks your heart it will be." Sarah commented as the girl tapped her finger against the files, "And you know he will, he loves Catherine Rollins just as much as he loves you."
"Let me make one thing completely clear ma'am. Steve McGarrett doesn'tnor will he everlove me. I am just a piece of ass for him." She snapped, "That's it. Excuse me."
**
"Commander McGarrett? Can I help you with something?" Sarah asked as the Commander came onto the floor where they were working just before quitting time. "Where is Williams?" He asked they had brought him in after the whole incident with Victor Hesse and he knew that Emily was there. "Locker room." The redhead tilted her head down the hall to the room.
"Thanks." He answered tensely before he walked down the hall and peeked into the locker room.
The blonde was standing at her locker standing with her back to him, her eyes on her phone. "Hey, you.' He greeted causing her to spin and look at him dropping her phone with a thud onto the floor.
"Steve! What happened?"
"Caught Victor Hesse."
'Victor Hesse? The bastard that you have chased all over the world for 5 years?" Emily questioned as she stood up on her tiptoes to look at the cut and butterfly bandages on his cheek. Not that she didn't trust the nurses downstairs, she did but it always made her feel better if she could double-check their work.
Steve nodded as his free hand caught a hold of her waist and pulled her into him. "He killed my father." The blonde hissed and shook her head, she knew all about Victor Hesse and his brother Anton, she had even been on a task with him and other SEALs trying to hunt them down before she got injured. "Is he dead?" The commander was quiet as his fingers dipped under the material of her scrub down to trace a pattern across the skin of her lower back.
"Steve? Is he dead?" She repeated, cupping his cheeks in her hands, her thumb rubbing against the non-bruised cheekbone.
"Yes." He answered after taking a deep calming breath, he made the right choice of asking to be taken to the hospital on base so he could see Emily afterward, she offered a different sort of comfort than Catherine did.
She offered not only the physical aspect of everything but the emotional side of things, it oddly felt like she was the one that completed him. But he wasn't ready to go to that step yet.
"Can you give me a ride back to the palace? I need to check on your brother and the others" He finally said, pulling away to look at her.
"Of course." She returned pulling away from him fully to gather her belongings.
"Have you seen the hell hole that he has your niece going into it?" "Yes. I tried to tell him we could get a place together that wasn't as bad but he refused, he doesn't want help." Emily had fought with her brother about it, wanting to get off of the base and away from most of the girls in her unit. But Danny stayed stubborn and didn't listen to her or their mother. "What are you thinking?" The Commander smirked, he had to give it to her, she caught on very easily and was usually right there with his plans.
The exact opposite of her brother.
**
At first, Emily wanted to stay behind in her car and let Steve go in and check on her brother and the rest of the team but he insisted that she come in and meet the other two members of the team and he thought that the gift card to the hotel would sound better coming from both of them compared to just him. Instantly, the natural shyness that she had came forth and she grabbed onto Steve's good arm, her blue eyes going from the men working on setting up stuff to the glass office.
"Emily!" Danny's voice exclaimed from his office, "You won't be what he did this time." "What else did you do to my brother?" She asked looking up at the Commander and then at her brother who looked more upset than he had earlier that day. 'He drove a police cruiser onto a freighter boat." "You did what?" She shouldn't have been surprised but she was, Steve was known to do stuff like that especially if he thought it would get their mission completed. Danny nodded smirking, this was a good way to get her to stop seeing him, "He drove a car onto a moving boat with me in it.' Chewing on the inside of her bottom lip thoughtfully before giggling, "Yeah that's pretty on track with him.' "Em, I don't want you seeing him anymore." He ordered causing her to laugh even more before turning back to the two other people in the bullpen. 'Yeah, I don't think that is going to happen." Steve chuckled if she didn't listen to her mother what made Danny think she would listen to him

Top UN officials urge Israel to ease civilian suffering in areas under their attack
Further details from the two senior UN agency officials who have written to Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, Unicef’s Catherine Russell and the World Food Programme’s Cindy McCain.
They called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint to protect civilians and critical civilian services, Reuters reports, in its news scoop of seeing the letter that was sent. They wrote that the UN and aid groups:
"Need unequivocal security assurances to ensure a safe operating environment … the rules of engagement and their implementation in practice, in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Lebanon, must reflect the IDF (Israel Defense Forces)’s obligation and commitment to respect, protect, and facilitate humanitarian action," said Russell, a former senior aide to Joe Biden, and McCain, Biden’s former ambassador to the UN agencies for food and agriculture in Rome.
They urgently appealed for an effective humanitarian notification system that the Israeli military “acknowledges and supports”, citing the success of using area-specific pauses in fighting to allow for the polio vaccination of children in Gaza.
"We request this be applied consistently to facilitate humanitarian action at scale," they wrote.

Some good/bad/ugly (but not super ugly, I'm not a dick about it) thoughts on RWRB. Obvious spoilers.
The Good:
The cake. Different from the book in a few ways but so damn good and a really strong beginning for the film. Also, watch through the credits for a tiny post-credit cake moment.
Alex and Henry messaging back and forth and talking on the phone at the beginning. A perfect way to translate that to the screen, taking advantage of the visual medium. I laughed out loud multiple times during the segment and just really enjoyed watching it.
Zahra. All of her scenes. So good. Dare I say her relationship with Alex was the most developed in the film? Maybe. It was certainly my favorite.
The polo match was a lot of fun, too. Though brief, it was very much in-line with what was on the page and that was satisfying to watch.
The King. He's a very different character than Queen Mary and by casting Stephen Fry and refocusing the moment, it became layered and interesting. An implied foil for Henry. Probably one of the better changes from the book.
The Bad:
Nora and Bea don't have a lot to do. Nora certainly gets a little lost after the first part of the film, though she’s around. Bea doesn't really mean anything until the last half of the film. Neither of them really have any of the depth that their book counterparts had, which is a shame since they're so great on the page.
Percy (because I'm pretty sure he is never referred to as Pez in the film) is an absolutely nothing character. Surprised he wasn't cut, but they clearly wanted Henry to have a counterpart to match Alex's Nora. But he actually gets nothing at all to do.
Alex and Henry's Christmas phone call is gone, and they only really have one big moment of vulnerability before New Year's (the hospital closet), which kind of makes the big kiss feel unearned. They're definitely friendly by New Year's, so that's something.
We're told a lot about the cages that Alex and Henry find themselves in, but they're never clearly defined in the film (it's very tell, don't show), which makes the stakes of them breaking out to be together feel lower, at least to me. I wish we saw a little bit more of the world that they inhabit so that we could understand the risks, but instead it's all summarized in TV segments.
For me, Alex and Henry never really feel fully-realized, especially Henry, who doesn't get his big moments until the later half of the film. It's a shame, but none of their moments of sincerity felt truly earned. I don't know, there was some kind of barrier between me and them for the entire film, I struggled to feel for them outside of "oh that's cute" or "oh that's sad" or "oh how nice."
The Ugly (or, more accurately, things that still don't sit right with me 15 hours later):
Miguel. Oh, boy. I really, really don't understand the choice to include this original character. From the very beginning it's just very... what? And why? All of the leak and antagonism of the leak, instead of being contributed to the white conservative Republican was instead placed on a queer Latiné man with no depth and I'm just... so very very confused by this choice. Obviously it was to streamline a lot of the backstory and details of how the leak came to happen, but my god... I really don't even know. I don't know if Matthew will ever talk about his choices for this character, but I'd really like to hear them. Also, he's not Liam or Rafael Luna, not even close. A pity that comparison was even made at any point during promo because it's 100% not true.
We get maybe 3 mentions of Arthur, no sight of Catherine. In fact, while Catherine is an absent mother, it's not attributed to her grief at all, but more just that she'd rather be anywhere else than by her children? And Henry and Bea are both very resentful of that fact. And I was like... why are we doing that to Catherine? She doesn't deserve that writing.
So after the leak, we get the communications lockdown which makes it impossible for Alex and Henry to speak to each other. But the film decided to have Alex make his big public speech during that time, without having Henry by his side or without him even talking to Henry about it first, and I found that really really upsetting. That was one of my favorite parts of the book, that Alex got to Henry as quickly as he could and then they walked through the whole situation together, side-by-side, as a team, both consenting to the everything after their consent was ripped away from them because of the leak. The film didn't give them that and I really didn't like it at all.
I mean, there were other things, too (the big sex scene was in Paris and happened way too early in my opinion - not because of the sex itself, just how it was framed), but I'm really not interested in picking the film apart. It's an okay film. It's not a terrible way to spend 2 hours. All in all, it feels like a solid summary of the book with glimpses at a lot of the book moments that we love. That doesn't make it a bad film, just a straightforward, simple one. It was made to be palatable for a general audience and that's fine. There's a deeper and more complex story here, which we know from the book, but this film wasn't the place to tell it. It tells a version of it, and it does an okay job at it.
(But, like, I'll take a 5-6 episode mini-series one day so that we can get the fully complex Henry backstory and screen time that he deserves to have.)
Also, Taylor Zakhar Perez's bare ass is a 10 out of 10, would recommend. There will be plenty of gifs of that in the next day or two, and no one will be complaining about it.
Oh, the opening credits were cute too and had an early-2000s rom-com vibe, which was great!

and some things you just can't speak about

Dr. Chilton (to Will on Lecter): “He's simply impenetrable to psychological testing.”

Dr. Lecter (to Clarice): “That was an especially nice touch, Clarice.”

Clarice Starling (to Lecter): “One week of the year, you get to leave the hospital and go here. Plum lsland. Every day of that week you may walk on the beach, you may swim in the ocean, for up to one hour, under SWAT team surveillance, of course. This offer is non-negotiable and final. Catherine Martin dies, you get nothing.”
#8: Will Graham (to Lecter): “I'm waiting, Doctor. Or maybe you've got nothing left to sell.”
Dr. Lecter (to Clarice): “It is your turn to tell me, Clarice. You don't have any more vacations to sell.”

Jack Crawford: Lecter says a lot of things.

They have been given their second chance. Now, they have to make sure they don't screw it up.
Mandela Heroes - In the small town of Mandela, there is an evil organization that has been terrorizing the citizens for a long time. They call themselves the alternates. One night, there was a flash of light followed by an explosion at the Mandela Community Church, resulting in the windows being blown out. No traces of an explosive were found in their investigation. Soon after, there were multiple reports of winged individuals apprehending criminals. Soon, a new group was formed. The Angels of Mandela.
Mark, Cesar and their friends all formed this group to help the citizens of the town as well as try to stop the alternates once and her all. But they have no idea what lies ahead as new foes appear and dark secrets are uncovered as well as the group bearing the burden and responsibility of being a hero...

As he tries to figure out the situation, he's met with more odd things happening. The water is contaminated by a black substance, strobes begin appearing... A crossover of TheSunVanished by Theo.
Androidela - In the distant future, Earth is rendered uninhabitable so the survivors board a ship and set off to a new planet that is million of light years away, several galaxies away. Fearing that all the people won't live to get there, the crew decides to make androids to keep everyone on the ship company and keep some hope. Unfortunately, an incident happens that caused the ship to stall and for everyone to be stranded in space. With no way to get the ship going again, the passengers all begin to die one by one until the only living beings are the androids which are put out of commission.
Several hundred years later, Android #001 - Codename "Mark", wakes up and looks around the ship for any survivors, finding none. Soon, he discovers other androids that have booted up. With no humans left on the ship, how are they going to get to the new planet now?
Hemoptysis - Cesar comes back to life after being given a chance to change things by Gabriel. With every person he saves, he gets sicker and sicker. He coughs up blood, developing a severe case of anemia. It won't be long before he accomplishes what he is set out to do and passes on.
Forever Young (Immortal AU) - Mark and Cesar are frozen at the ages of 17 and 18. They aren't sure what happened, but it doesn't concern them too much. As the years go by, as the world changes around them, they don't.
Mandela of the Dead - Based off the Walking Dead TV show as well as other forms of zombie media. Thatcher Davis wakes up from a month long coma to discover that the world has collapsed to a zombie apocalypse. As he tries to find his partner Ruth and his friend, Dave, he discovers a group of survivors about high school age. As they go further, Thatcher notices that this group is skilled at fighting, but will it be enough to keep them alive?
Magicae puer (Magic AU) - For generations, families have been born with magical powers. Some have fire magic, water magic, the ability to see auras. In recent times, magic has become a taboo subject by many, being dismissed as something stage magicians do. The Flammias are a great example of a magic family. Coming from a Wiccan family, they were ostracized for not being like the citizens of Mandela. They weren't worshiping God, they weren't following the Lord's passages.
The Heathcliff family has been keeping a secret. They all have magic too. And it seems that their children, Mark and Sarah have inherited their powers. For Mark, it was the rarest form of magic. Healing. A type of magic that was thought to have gone extinct for good reason. The healer's lifespan gets cut every time they heal someone, resulting in the healer eventually dying.
One night, while at a sleepover, Cesar wishes on a shooting star for him to have magic like Mark. His wish eventually gets granted as he has the ability to see colored strings that signifies what type of relationship the person has. As they get older, things start to become more dangerous. People begin to notice their magic powers, shadow creatures start appearing and a looming threat about the end of the world begins to emerge.
Doki Doki Mandela Club - A high school sophomore joins a literature club to catch up with her two childhood friends, Mark and Cesar. She hopes that she'll make new friends in the club as well as strengthen her literary knowledge. As they prepare for the school festival, she notices peculiar things about her friends that she didn't know previously.
Days keep on repeating, their minds begin to erode... Why can't they achieve happiness? No matter what I do, it all comes to nothing. I can't stop it... I can't...
Help me.
Basically, it's a mixture of DDLC and Higurashi with a little bit of Umineko. I won't just be using the base game. I will also be using the many mods that have been made about the game.
Cesar's Body (Jennifer's Body AU) - Cesar disappears after an accident at a concert. When he returns, something is off about him. Soon after, people start dropping dead. Now Mark has to figure out what's happening before more people die.
Purge Night in Mandela - Every year, the world hosts an annual event called the Purge. For twelve hours, all crime, including murder will be legal. Two stories unfold at the same time. A young boy tries to survive the purge along with his family. Two teens taking advantage of the Purge to commit petty crimes.
Reincarnation AU - In the year 2009, kids from Mandela county start to have dreams of a life they lived before. Bonds begin to form, danger looms around every corner, and friendships are tested.
Empty Dream - A tale of two friends who are reunited after Mark had to leave because of his father's new job. As they rekindle their friendship, family drama and people from their past threatens to tear the friends apart, possibly forever.
TMC x Regular Show - A silly AU where the TMC characters work at a park and they deal with shenanigans.
TMC x Corpse Party - A group of kids try a friendship charm one of them found online. Soon, they all get trapped in a haunted school and must find a way out before they join the many students who have died.
#the mandela catalogue#tmc au#Whew! That's a lot of AUs!#My brain just comes up with these things randomly.

Chapter Two: Hemlock
Jason shivered as he climbed off the table and wrapped the thin hospital sheet around his waist. His body violently shook as he searched for help. Jason was too cold to speak, wandering the hall, his toe tag dragging along as his frozen legs staggered toward the emergency room door. The hospital was eerily empty, and it frightened Jason until he heard the faint sound of sirens outside. He pushed the exit door but felt too weak to get it open. Jason tried the door again and again to no avail before noticing the automatic button. He limped outside, walking barefoot in the snow until he passed the parking lot and exited onto the street. The shaking subsided, and the unsteadiness of Jason's gait worsened. He could no longer hear the sirens.
Nobody seemed to notice him at first, so he didn't speak. He could see women standing and gesturing, but they seemed so far away. Whatever senses he had before abandoned him as he walked straight into a news anchor and took hold of her with both hands. She covered him, even removing her coat to warm him as the cameraman set her camera aside. "Where did you come from?" she asked. Jason tried to remove the jacket and blanket, fighting the woman wordlessly. "Marie, call 9-1-1!"
Jason nodded. "Help," he mumbled. Jason recalled wanting help. Marie noticed he had something wrapped around his toe, and she picked the camera back up.
"Marie! Call 9-1-1!" the woman screamed at her.
"He's dead, Christie... He's dead," Marie whispered as she pointed the camera at Jason's toe tag. Christie wasn't phased. She called 9-1-1 from her phone as she tried desperately to keep Jason warm and alert. Christie could hear the other anchors on her earpiece, but she ignored them.
"Stay with me, sweetheart. Stay with me," Christie begged as she spoke to the dispatcher. "No, they evacuated Gotham General an hour ago! That's where we are now. He must've gotten separated from everyone else." Jason wanted to sleep, but Christie wouldn't let him. He'd seen her before, but he couldn't remember where.
She stayed with Jason until the paramedics came. They started rewarming Jason by giving him an IV solution of warm salt water and an oxygen mask. He couldn't remember much between the paramedics picking him up and waking up in the hospital, but he did remember asking for his mother in a daze. "Sorry, son. What was that?" one of the EMTs asked.
"My mom... I want my mom," Jason mumbled as his breath slowly returned to him. One of the men in the ambulance pushed Jason's hair back.
"It's gonna be alright... What's your mom's name, little guy?" that same man questioned.
He closed his eyes, enjoying the long-forgotten affection he received from one of the men. It reminded him of Catherine so much that he'd almost forgotten it wasn't her. "Stay with us, now," the other man commanded gently.
Jason made a soft noise, and when he opened his eyes, he was in a hospital bed. It hadn't even been three hours after the incident before several newspeople bombarded him at the hospital with questions. "Can we—?"
The voices clamored over one another for his attention, but Jason pulled the blankets over his head and begged them to leave him alone. They were relentless. As Jason's senses returned, he knew he would never go home. Not with all the media attention he received. The noise made his head throb, and he couldn't bear to show his face to anyone in that condition.
All the reporters yelling for his attention suddenly went silent, or maybe they didn't. Perhaps it was ringing. Jason sank into his pillows as a nurse rushed in, and Jason's body shook as he felt an indescribably torturous pain in his stomach. The nurse tried to speak to him, but he couldn't form words. Jason desperately tried to stay present, but his eyes rolled back, and the tremors turned to convulsions. It would have been an excruciating death had he not succumbed quickly to the poison in his bloodstream. Someone tampered with his IV while he was in the hospital, but it didn't matter then. It was too late.
The nurses and doctors were too confused to speak as they called his time of death. No one came to claim him, so after his autopsy, he was set to be buried in an unmarked grave. He didn't wake, he didn't move, and he didn't decay. The news tried to help find any living family Jason might have had. Not even his superintendent had the heart to identify him. It looked as if he was asleep, and it frightened the coroners. The coroners refused to autopsy him without a doctor's approval because he seemed so lifelike. Some of the coroners referred to him affectionately as Prince Doe. He was an anomaly to them, even for the city of Gotham. They'd seen everything from disembowelments by Ivy's vines to self-mutilation, but a small child who looked too alive to be dead. It even affected the way they autopsied him. They still saw him as alive even after the doctors confirmed time and time again that Jason did die in their hospital.
During that time, he didn't wake. He lay peacefully under the hospital blanket. Later, he was placed in a box to be buried in a mass grave. With Gotham security and graverobbers, no one noticed when Prince Doe's box mysteriously disappeared. No one looked for him, no one claimed him, and no one came to pay their last respects. Had anyone done so, they would have noticed. The world quickly forgot Prince Doe.

GREGORY HORROR SHOW: BULLET HELL. MAIN CHARACTERS AND EXPLANATION
Hells everyone, I'm here to tell you about something that has been cooking in my brain for a while: GHS Bullet Hell/ Gunmisery AU
WHY BULLET HELL/ GUNMISERY?
The ideas more shorter title is Gunmisery because of the fact that Cactus Gunman's story shares similar beats to Stephen King's Misery.
a bullet hell is defined by TV Tropes as the following: "Bullet Hell (called danmaku, meaning "barrage", in Japanese, literally "bullet curtain" when translated to English) shooters are a subgenre of Shoot Em Ups that test both your dodging skills and your resistance to seizures" which fits well with CG's...Questionable gun skills
PLOT
Set during S4's third episode and the ones following after, Gunmisery is told through the perspective of Cactus Gunman as he discovers that there's more to Catherine then what first appears.
CHARACTERS (MAIN)
Each main character in Gunmisery can be represented by a illness, both mental and physical. To set them apart from their canon counterparts, the characters have been given a slight wardrobe change and/or a triangle motif.
CACTUS GUNMAN
Represents: Paranoia or Stockholm Syndrome
Cactus Gunman is the Main protagonist of this AU, mostly seen wearing a hospital gown with bandages on his upper left arm. He is still as vigilante as he is in the series. Now he has a slight paranoid edge. Think Peppino Spaghetti, but a cactus.
JUDGEMENT BOY GOLD
Represents: Burn victims
Judgement Boy Gold, or JBG for short is the boss of the other JBS. He looks identical to his canon counterpart, save for the more curly hair and the broken plating on his head downwards. It is clear to see that he's just tired of the hotel's (And to extent, the Bloody Karte's) Nonsense. He is also the only main character to not have a name that begins in H or C
HANIWA SALARYMAN
Represents: PTSD (maybe a bit of a stretch)
Surprisingly, Haniwa Salaryman is the only one filling in for a already existing character's role: Neko Zombie's role. His outfit is a far cry from OG Haniwa's outfit, ditching the coat and tie entirely to reveal a short sleeved shirt hastily tucked into his pants. He has a crack extending from the right side of his head.
HELL'S CHEF
Represents: Vertigo
I'm just going to get to the point, Hell's Chef is a mess...Both mentally and physically
CATHERINE
Represents: OLD (Obsessive Love Disorder) or Erotomania
Catherine is the antagonist Gunmisery. She is pretty standard to her Series counterpart, in both looks and personality.
Don't worry, you'll be hearing more about my AU soon.

CE Characters Favorite Disney Movies, Part II
Pete Brenner
Peter Pan. Released on February 3, 1953. Growing up, Pete always loved Peter Pan.
Pete's Dragon. Released on November 3, 1977. This movie was one of the first movies that combined animation sequences with live action sequences. This makes sense that Pete would love a movie that has his name in it. Pete always felt that this movie was made just for him.
Mary Poppins. Released on August 27, 1964. It's one of the few movies where the movie is more well known than the book it's based on. P.L. Travers wrote the book, and had to be persuaded by Walt Disney to sell the film rights. The 2013 Disney movie Saving Mr. Banks is about this. Now, Mary Poppins is a much beloved Disney film, much like the Wizard of Oz. Dick Van Dyke, who plays Burt the Chimney Sweep, was also starring in his own sitcom, The Dick Van Dyke Show.
Pete very much loves Mary Poppins. This is his favorite comfort movie, he even watches it when he's sick. (Mine's A Christmas Story.) Now, Zoe and her sister, Mary, love it, and even sing along and dance to the songs.
Tangled. Released on November 23, 2010. This is Zoe's favorite movie. Rapunzel is Zoe's favorite story, so it makes sense that Zoe loves Tangled. When Zoe wants to watch Tangled, she'll always say "Wapunzel!" She introduced this to Mary, and Mary says "Punzel!" when Mary is old enough to talk. Zoe and Mary will watch Tangled while eating their healthy snacks that are toddler and kid friendly.
Cole Turner
The Sword in the Stone. Released on December 25, 1963. It also stars Alan Napier as the voice of Sir Pellnore. Alan Napier was also shooting the 1960's series Batman, which aired Saturday mornings on ABC. ABC is Disney owned. Cole can't understand why he's drawn to this, but he is. It's always been his favorite Disney movie, and yet he can't understand why.
The Rescuers. Released on June 22, 1977. Bob Newhart was starring in the Bob Newhart Show. I even have a Little Golden Book of this movie.
This is another one of Cole's favorite movies that he never understood why he was drawn to, but now he knows.
The Rescuers Down Under. Released on November 16, 1990. I saw this in the theatre when I was 11. The late, great John Candy does the voice of Wilber. John Candy was a Canadian comedian, who was an alum of SCTV, with Eugene Levy and Catherine O' Hara.
Cole loves the sequel because he got to be your hero. He not only changed your flat tire, you got bitten by a poisonous snake when you were on a field trip on his farm with your students. He not only used his shirt as a tourniquet to stop the venom from spreading, he picked you up, carried you bridal style to his truck, and got you to the hospital quickly. Luckily, one of the dads on the trip happened to be a paramedic, and knew exactly what to do, and knew that an ambulance couldn't wait. He refused to leave your side. Cole took care of you even well after you were given the anti-venom. Cole treated you to a date night after that.
Lucas and Dawn love The Rescuers
Ari Levinson
Aladdin. Released on November 25, 1992. This is one of my favorite Robin Williams movies.
Aladdin reminds Ari of the time he once ran a resort. He now runs an import business, and some of the imports take him back to that place. He was also a geography teacher, and he would always talk about the time he once ran a resort when the kids studied and learned about the Red Sea, and the countries that surround it.
Robin Hood. Released on November 8, 1973. Ari, Zachary and Elijah love this one. The boys can't understand how a fox is Robin Hood, but they love it. The boys are currently into animals, so they love movies that have anything to do with animals. Robin Hood is also their favorite story.
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Released on June 28, 2003. Ari loves this because Pirates of the Caribbean is his favorite Disney ride, and with him running his import business and the resort he ran, this hits a soft spot with him.
Th Fox and the Hound. Released on July 10, 1981. This is another favorite with the Zachary and Elijah. Ari loves this one, too. It isn't strange for your three favorite guys to watch this movie, with a huge bowl of popcorn between the three of them, lemonades, and all of them curled up under a blanket, watching this movie. The boys even like to watch when they're sick.
Lady and the Tramp. Released on June 22, 1955. This is Lillian's favorite. It's also a favorite of the boys. You put this on when Lillian would be teething, and she'd somehow forget about her teething pains. Zachary and Elijah and Lillian all watch this on movie night.
Sleeping Beauty. Released on January 29, 1959. Ari has a soft spot for this one. This is his sister Andrea loved this one, and would often dress up as Aurora on Halloween. Lillian loves this one, too. It's another movie that you put on that helps her through teething pains. Ari and the boys get Lillian an Aurora stuffed doll for her first birthday.
Zootopia. Released on March 4, 2016. Zachary, Elijah, Lillian, Ari and you love this one. The kids love animals, and they'll always pick out this one on family movie night. It's gender neutral enough where the boys enjoy it, and Lillian enjoys it.
Frank Adler
Cars. Released on June 9, 2006. Frank is a mechanic, so this movie makes sense for him. He loves it.
Moana. Released on November 23, 2016. Mary loves this one. She's not sure why, though. Frank loves this one, too. He works with boats, and loves being near the water.
Cinderella. Released on March 4, 1950. Mary loves this because she's treated less than. She just wants to feel beautiful even if it's just for one day.

"Another Reunion"
Plaga Leon x OC
Part I
Part II
Three days ago
Morgan hurried down the corridor pushing a stretcher.
"Almost there," she said to the person lying in it--Leon.
Leon, mind hazy from the sedatives, could only slightly turn his head and nod.
"I don't...remember this part of the building..." he replied, voice raspy.
"Think of it as a hidden tunnel." Morgan stopped to unlock the old, rusty door whose paint was faded and chipped. The door clicked and she pushed it open, "There were plans to renovate this area, I dunno the full details. So, you know, access restricted to most of us. Until now."
She pushed the stretcher past the door, "You know Bennett, right? The guy who brings you food? He and I did some... research I guess. Found the floor plans and these keys in Campbell's office. Wanted to bust you out right away but, these things just take time..."
"Why are you helping me?"
Morgan stopped, and placed a hand on his shoulder. There appeared to be sorrow in her hazel eyes.
"Leon...I wanted to cure you. I really, really did. But everyone else..." she replied, her voice cracking, "...Lost my pops to this virus shit... Just can't let that happen again, not to a good man like you."
Leon felt his ears grow warmer than usual, "Okay...so what's the grand plan after this little jailbreak of yours?"
"Well," she answered, opening a door with a broken EXIT sign and pushing the stretcher out the door to an underground parking lot, dark and devoid of life, "I made some calls, some emails, and we're going on a road trip."
She pulled out a flip phone and dialed a number. A few minutes passed and the headlights of a car flashed. The vehicle was a silver sedan, and slowly appearing from the darkness.
The driver's side door opened and a tall, slim man in a long blue coat stepped out of the car. Morgan was helping Leon stand.
"Our getaway driver?" Leon asked dryly.
"Yer damn right I am," the slim man responded as he walked up to the two, reaching out for a handshake, "Lindsey Stanley. 's nice to meet you...ahem...Leon, right?" His skin was lightly tanned, with some wrinkles here and there.
Leon almost stumbled and fell over, but Morgan managed to catch him.
Stanley...why does that sound familiar?
Lindsey studied Leon's features, "You're the one who brought my niece home. From the...what was it, human trafficking?"
Leon mustered enough strength to stand on his own, "Long story. Stanley is your last name, and your niece...wait..."
"He's my uncle," a soft, familiar voice called out from behind Lindsey.
Catherine stepped forward, wringing her hands. Time seemed to stop when she and Leon made eye contact.
She had to hold him up somewhat when they embraced, his strength was spent.
"... Cath..."
Lindsey looked around, "Reunion's good 'n all, but we need to get on the road before all this goes pear shaped."
In the car, Catherine reached over to tap Lindsey on the shoulder, "Are you really okay with this, Uncle? This... this is all...so..."
Lindsey tilted his head, "Cathy, I trust him. How could I not trust the man who saved my niece's life?"
Leon was struggling to stay awake, but everything was becoming a blur. Being here, in Catherine's lap, instead of strapped to a hospital bed surrounded by surgical lights, made him feel more at ease.
"'ey, Leon," Lindsey continued, "Now that I got th' chance, I jus' wanna say thanks. You need anything, go on and ask. Sound good?"
Leon grunted in approval, he and Morgan falling asleep almost simultaneously.
Lindsey turned the heater on a little higher, "Try 'n catch some Z's too, Cathy. I'll see if we can stop somewhere. Sleep in an actual bed, yeah?"
Catherine nodded, "Okay..."
She held Leon's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze, "Goodnight..."
