Karen Sirko
it was just for fun.
did you tell anyone we hooked up?
i've moved on, and so should you.
Pronouns: He/Him/His, M!Reader
CW/TW: Typical DJATS warnings, mentions of Billy addictions, mentions of drug usage, angst?, sad ending?, suggestive/BRIEF sexual content
Sorry for lack of activity! I got lost in the sauce of Stardew Valley 😔
Tumblr media
As much as Karen desired to get hammered and dance the night away, her nerves jittered with anxiety, rendering her uncomfortable and almost irritable as she nursed a beer and remained seated on a couch pushed up against the corner of the room. She desperately wanted to get up and enjoy the party Camilla had so lovingly created in celebration of Warren's birthday but she simply couldn't. Not when he had yet to arrive.
Long before joining any sort of band, Karen had made a very clear rule for herself: never date a fellow bandmate under any circumstances. She refused to be known as 'the girlfriend' in any band, let alone to the whole world; but of course, nothing could ever go according to plan. Especially after Daisy Jones and (Y/N) (L/N) joined them, filling the spot of the last sixth member and adding 'Daisy Jones and' to their band name.
The two had been whirlwinds from the get-go if Karen had to be honest. Daisy Jones was a gorgeous girl full of spirit and a stubborn attitude that oft' clashed with Billy but she was sweet and Karen could see the fragility behind her big doe eyes, always at the edge of a cliff just as Billy had once been.
(Y/N) was a handsome young man with a talent for playing bass and a love for mischief, something that had him and Warren gravitating toward each other the second they met (though Karen assumed doing shrooms together fully cemented their friendship). The idea of another guy joining the band unnerved Karen but after watching how (Y/N) handled Daisy, comfortability settled on her bones fairly quickly.
And that comfortability- annoyingly enough- turned into attraction over the next few weeks, leading to a tipsy make-out by the side of the house where (Y/N)'s hand found its way down her pants. The image of (Y/N) popping his slick, wet fingers into his mouth to clean them while giving her a lazy yet cheeky smirk had imprinted in her mind for days to come, leaving her to mess up during practice when she'd been too busy staring at his hands. She should've taken it as a warning, some sort of sign from God or the universe to leave the hurricane of a man alone, but she ignored it.
The second time Karen found herself giving in to her attraction, it'd been after Warren invited (Y/N) over while Daisy and Billy battled out their differences elsewhere under Teddy's urging. She'd managed to convince Warren and Graham to give them some time alone under the guise of sending them out to the store for some essentials, allowing for the two to have another make-out on the couch and subsequent hookup in her nearby bedroom. She found herself surprised when she realized she hardly minded the love marks scattered across her skin, noting with flushed cheeks and a racing heart he'd done them in places she could easily hide.
After the third time, the ever-observant Camila teasingly noted how much Karen seemed to enjoy (Y/N)'s presence. Karen laughed it off and gave her a playful shove but once inside her room and forced alone with her thoughts, the suffocating thought of commitment and the expectations surrounding relationships consumed her. She'd seen how broken Camila had been the day she discovered his infidelities, the hollowness in her typically vibrant eyes when he'd gone off to rehab and left her to temporarily be a single mother. The thought of dealing with that kind of heartbreak and betrayal nauseated her.
It led to Karen sitting on that damn couch with a cool beer in hand and darting eyes searching for (Y/N) in the crowd. She had to clear things up, even if her late-night contemplation had left her realizing the thought of dating him made her skin tingle with delight. She refused to be anything other than Karen Sirko; not girlfriend, not wife, absolutely nothing other than the keyboardist for Daisy Jones and The Six. Karen had been free for years, free to do whatever she wished and whomever she desired. All her dreams and goals and hopes for the future never included someone else, yet part of her wanted to change that.
"(Y/N)! My man!" Warren's gleeful voice reached her ears and she stood up from the coach so quickly she nearly stumbled over her shoes. She set her beer aside and walked through the crowd in the living room until she reached the front door, watching Warren and (Y/N) exchange a tight embrace. "Glad you could make it!"
"I wouldn't miss it for the world." (Y/N) laughed, a sound so warm and bright it briefly calmed her constricting heart. He handed his gift off to Warren and greeted the Dunne's with an easy-going smile, his attention ultimately falling to her last after patting Eddie's shoulder.
"We need to talk." She told him, leaning in for a quick embrace before she grasped his wrist and led him further into the house, ensuring they were far from nosy ears and Graham's lingering eyes. The first secluded spot she found was a dimly lit hallway coincidentally leading outside to the very spot they'd first locked lips. She tried forgetting that night.
"What is it?"
"Did you tell anyone we hooked up?" Karen asked him, voice sounding more accusatory than necessary. "Camila... Camila knows something, I guess. I trust her but I don't want the guys to look at me differently."
"I don't kiss and tell." (Y/N) responded, his hands sliding into his pockets and head tilting to the side. "It was just for fun, anyway. Besides, Warren's been begging me to meet his girlfriend's friend for a double date, or something like that. I don't think it'd look good if she knew I hooked up with a bandmate."
"What?" The word fell from her lips immediately, her eyes widening and her heart squeezing even tighter. Of course, she'd pulled him aside to at least make a half-hearted promise of never doing it again, but hearing he'd been planning on doing the same sucked the air right out of her lungs.
(Y/N) pursed his lips, only sparing her a sympathetic grimace. "Yeah, I meant to tell you sooner but it slipped my mind. Listen, Karen," He raised his hand and pressed his palm to her cheek, the sympathy on his features making her want to tear her hair out. "You're more talented than the idiots we play with, and I think you're an amazing girl. That said, I've moved on, and so should you. Maybe give Graham a chance? He's got it bad for you."
Karen remained still as he pressed a fleeting kiss to her forehead and stepped out of the hallway, her eyes blankly staring into the wall before her whilst she tried processing everything that'd been dumped on her in a matter of a couple minutes. In the end, she'd gotten what she wanted in the first place, yet her lips quivered and her eyes flooded with tears she refused to shed.

Favorite and least favorite. DJATS scenes? My least favorite is the overdose scene in ep 8. Like, wydm Billy called Daisy "baby?" I doubt that. My favorite is either Billy saying good morning to Camila and Julia in ep 5,Daisy kicking Nicky out,or the Camilabilly s*x scene at the end of episode 5. (and he wasn't thinking about Daisy, idk what Daisybilly shippers say. He loves his wife, aurora is about her, nothing can change that.)
I can't shut up about the Pick Up Your Kid scene from Episode 3. Bc I know how much Sam loves his kids and being a dad, I knew how difficult it would be for him to film it. The tears were unscripted, that's just Sam crying for real. I've not really thought about favourite scenes. Camila and Billy on the balcony in the finale, but that's only bc of their acting. Aside from the fact that the dialogue was ridiculous, it shouldn't exist, bc there's nothing like that in the book. Erasing the Daisy and Camila hotel room scene was a huge disservice to the characters, to the fans, to TJR. Just thank the gods that Sam and Camila are such good actors. I liked all Billy's scene with Camila and Julia. As for other characters, I liked Teddy being a father figure to Billy, the final scene with Karen and Graham. I know the poor guy was devastated, but Karen made her choice.
Least favourite, where do I start. I agree on the ending of Ep 8. (It was in fact what set of me off on a mini villain arc that lasted all through till the end of June, when I accepted that Sam was not going get an Emmy nomination, which is why I wasn't even upset that he was snubbed, bc I had already grieved it, but it was a painful process.) It should have been Simone that found her. Once again, a female character robbed of a scene. Not to mention that a man cradling a woman in his arms (while she might or might not be dying) is the most overdone scene in all of TV/film history. Start noticing it and you'll never be able to un-notice. Also, same episode, when after the press conference they walk in that corridor and Billy tries to kiss her. The whole argument, even. Cheap drama for the sake of it--nobody argues with faces that close together. It gives me so much second hand embarrassment that I literally recoil any time I think of it. I don't get triggered by horrible scenes that usually carry trigger warnings, but I do get triggered by stuff like this. Bc it's stupid.
Sam has a film, The Nightingale (dir Jennifer Kent), in which he plays the most horrible character of his career. It's a brilliant film and I recommend it, just heed the warnings bc it gets really violent. Yet it's easier for me to watch than a lot of DJATS. Bc I understand his part in the story, bc he is supposed to be like that.
ETA: Bc I misremembered, I thought Simone found Daisy in the book, (I can't check the book bc I listened to it on audio.) so I thought they should have kept it like that, but she actually just woke up herself, broke up with Nicky and then called Simone. I knew Simone figured somewhere, at least. Doesn't change my point, though, bc it still takes away from a female character. It's even worse bc it means that in the show, Daisy needed a man to 'save her'.
Yeah, if anyone had to find her in the shower, Rod would have been the better option; he's the manager after all, and if Daisy saw in his face that he was really worried about her, not just bc she was the lead singer and he'd lose money or whatever if something happened to her, but out of genuine care, she'd realise she was worthy. But nooo, they had to go for the most male writing stereotypical scene instead.

The DJATS show timeline confuses me. For example, in the book, Julia was born on November 28th,1974. Billy didn't meet her until January 1975. In the show, he's there for her first Christmas. Either they changed her birthday,or he wasn't in rehab for two months. I just wish the wiki was more in depth. I also know that Billy and Camila's wedding was when she was two months pregnant, which would've been March- April 1974, but I can't think of an exact date.
Edit: okay, I did some math to get the date Camila got pregnant, and when she would've been seven weeks along, thanks to Google. Their wedding would've been April 13th. According to Google,it was a Saturday.
Edit 2: Yeah, watching the show can be helpful, but I'm not sitting through a 40-60 minute episode just for one thing. I mean, the only episode I watched was 3, and only for the Camilabilly / Billy and Julia scenes. Plus, too many timeskips. From what I understand from looking at screencaps, Julia starts out ep 5 at 6-7 months old, and ends it at nearly a year old. (If her birthday was still November in the show.) Also, it pains me to see anything Daisybilly or Edmila related. Hopefully the deleted scenes get released and give us more info. (Except for the Edmila s*x scene,bc wdym they slept together?)

I imagine if the DJATS characters had a game night, Camila would be super passionate, like me. Especially for Monopoly, or Uno. My family plays Monopoly, Clue, and The Game Of life. (Fun fact: When I was like 10, I beat the adults in my family at an 80s trivia game. I can see Julia beating the adults at 70s trivia in the 90s. She just seems very smart to me.) Idk, I just love game nights, and it'd be funny to see DJATS playing games.
Agree.
I picture Camila being super competitive and passionate. Wins at Uno always.
Karen always wins Simon says, random but true.
Graham Its always the one Who wins Operation, It requires good hands, he IS a guitarist.
Crazy Monkeys Game, Its Lisas, It requires patience, the others dont have It XD
Warren wins at Monopoly, he cheats, but Hadn't been caught...except for Billy, Who knows It and finds hilarious the others dont realize It XD
Rod wins at poker always, the boys are on debt with him...literally XD.
Billy IS the Cluedo King, period. "Boy your solving senses are Lost on rock music, I swear you should be detective" said by Teddy Price.
Billy also wins most dart games, his aim Its glorious. Only one able to defeat him sometimes Its Daisy, she was in lots of pubs as a teen , so she has lots of practice.
Pool Its Bernie's Game. Thats It.
Simone Its the queen of pictionary .
Risk Its Teddy s Game, he always wins the war strategies.
About Trivia games, Its either Julia... or Daisy.
Julia loves to read books, webpages, magazines, and know the most random ever. Camila reads too, but usually romantic or poetry books, not that educative, while Julia...reads about history, termodinamics and flesh eating bacteria...😅
I picture Daisy as the Hot unexpectedly super smart girl Who knows the most random facts ever (because she takes interest in speaking with many different kinds of people) and as she is like a sponge, she keeps the info in her mind, so she win many Trivias too.
I picture the group making two games.
They make the first one , the one with everyone being fools killed by Julia or Daisy...and then the epic cool one to watch :
Julia VS Daisy,
that feels like TV contestants playing against each other. Billy Its the one Who reads the questions like a TV show man, proud and slightly terrified.
They both are terrific to watch. Both women know the most random shit ever, nerds they are XD.
Eddie always loses at everything (he IS a bad loser).

Hey all! This is for anyone who's reading/watching Daisy Jones and the Six!
The 1970's has always been one of my favorite settings to plot within, so I've been excited that this story is out and gaining attention. So with that being said, I'd like to see if anyone would be interested in doing some DJATS and Almost Famous, if you're familiar with that movie as well, inspired plots! I'm open to keeping to the characters from the stories or going completely OC, using the FC's, taking inspiration from the characters and premise of the overall plots, etc. I'd love to play against a Daisy Jones/Penny Lane type of character and would be interested in playing a Camila Dunne inspired muse! Other than that, I am open to playing/playing against any other characters!
I'd prefer partners who are 25+, please, since I am also 25+ and like to delve into dark and nsfw themes and feel more comfortable doing so with partners closer to my age :) If you're interested, please like this post and I will reach out!

i think it was djats that brought us together and now it's also glee, something that i love very much, actually. your blog is just perfection. i love every muses you own, even the veronica mars ( who actually brought me to watch the show again, thank you very much. ) we love the writing and love the aesthetic of it all. we also love that we can have thread in the 70's with the djats muses and come back to teen drama with glee, one tree hill as well and maybe veronica mars in the future? well, all that to says that we love what we sees and can't wait to see more.

verse tidbits
main verse : generally follows the plot of the saga with some differences ... takes place in a college / university setting within the city of coldwater, she's early 20's due to this change. born a human with latent nephilim blood she's thrust into the world of the fallen / nephilim upon meeting fallen angel, patch ( bro wanted to use her as a sacrifice.) becomes a pure - blood nephilim through a blood transfusion after months of captivity. it's messy bro. there'll be various au's within main
fallen angel / nephilim war apocalypse verse : nora couldn't prevent the war between the fallen angels and the nephilim and it goes on as planned with her at the helm of the nephilim faction. there was a lot of bloodshed and the fighting bled into the mortal's way of life ... nephilim and fallen angel alike using them as toys in their war, against nora's wishes. again, this verse is messy but we love mess. more on this one to follow as i iron out the kinks, i think it has potential. very legion 2010 and series esque
djats verse : basically a band au for nora and co. because i am Obsessed with daisy jones. childhood friend, scott parnell, approaches nora with the opportunity to join his rock band after his bassist left to create his own band, basically as the replacement for him. she takes on the role as bassist and singer, along with scott as lead guitarist and singer. at first she was dubious because girl has only ever played the cello but takes to bass quickly. haven't decided if i want to add the nephilim flavour to it yet and i haven't named their band so. watch this space
teen wolf / vampire diaries verse : okay tbf these verses are very similar in backstory ... nora and blythe move to beacon hills and mystic falls, respectively, after the death of harrison as a new start. in these verses nora was Born nephilim, just completely unknown to her until harrison's death when it sparks something within. if you think werewolf/vampire/witch drama is bad, this girl brings nephilim and angel drama with her. a whole new world
other verses to come : shadow and bone, shadowhunters, true blood, general apocalypse

I liked the Simone and Daisy scene a lot even though I feel like for Daisy in the book, her abandonment issues would kick in here and she wouldn’t want Simone to go to NY or at least she would have a conflict about it before seeing that’s where Simone would be happiest.

You inspired me so : Characters Opinión and show comparison
Eddie - I dislike him. I dont pair him with Daisy, as messy as she is, I think she deserves better. He IS the Nice Guy ™ ugh.
He was better in the book, cause even bitchy, he was dignified, also he crushes on Daisy in the book, not Cami, though Daisy ignored him at best XD.
Daisy - I love her tbh, one of my faves, I like especially that she is real, she isn't perfect, the fact that she is a total mess that then got okay IS what I liked , redemption arcs are my thing I guess...And after reading that many Young Adult Mary Sues , she was an improvement!
Also I kinda liked her better in the show because Riley has a likeable charismatic magnetic presence about her, you can't stop watching when she's on screen, she was as pretty as i expected, her fashion was 👌 and I loved her voice.
Also as i said before, second time they cast my book Cast on anything - first one was with Donald Surherland (RIP) as Snow at The Hunger Games- she was my book!Daisy fancast... which makes me biased but oh well XD. My Tumblr my biases.
Karen my fave girl , I loved her , also I loved her on the show (unpopular opinión i know) , though I would have made her tomboyish, they should of have downgraded Suki's prettiness as much as possible, cause they trying to sell she wasnt prettier than Daisy and Cami and Lisa and Simone...Was scifi serie Z outrageous level of unrealness...I'll post my dads (i got him to watch it, even to read the book!!!) review of djats, cause Its hilarious , totally hurtfull , but like soo truee XD
Graham same as you, and show > book with him.
Warren same.
Lisa same , its said that she had some erased scenes so ...Sad.
Camila, I liked her a lot. Camila Morrone did her best with the script they gave her... but in the book she was better. I also didnt like that she cheated...with Eddie??!!! . I wouldn't have minded (too much) the cheating with the ex fling like the book or even Tobías XD. Sadly she did in fact do It , the "We both done things " Its very clear...But like...With Eddie, gurl!! You can do better!!! (can't get over It was with Eddie! 😩🙄)
Also in the book she did cheat with a high school crush / ex fling (Bad but better than Eddie), like It was non explicit, but no one spends almost 6 hours on a lunch with someone ever, not even in my country. No hopes on that, and ...Thats why we have fics!!! (fix It in your fic please?!).
Show Cami was the light non sugary washed out versión of Book!Cami. And even like that I liked her , so yeah. Imagine Cami adapted as she was on the book in the show!! Camila Morrone would've won all the awards with a faithfull adaptation of Book!Cami on the show, no doubts.
Billy I liked him in the book, he was messy but very intriguing to read, the most interesting to me, cause I didn't believe shit of what he said while reading , but I loved what he told me ! XD
My criticism with Book Billy : not realistic with the real 70's rock stars behaviours. Real ones were shittier and cheated like breathing air with no remorse. I found the never relapsing on alcohol ever ever ever (read as Taylor Swift sings It) unrealistic at best (I know real alcohólics, believe me they relapse at least once or twice). No one IS that perfect.
What i liked the most was he actually was a good dad, looking for redemption.
Show was less nice, less polished, meaner, also super complex , very interesting and a total liar in search for redemption ...and more realistic with the actual 70s musicians. He was to me in the show more like the real Billy IS, the one he didn't want to show her daughter in the book tbh.
Also I loved him because of Sam Claflin ❤️ (biased but my Tumblr my rules). So Its a tie between Book!Billy and Show!Billy. I read that the erasing of the twins was made to prove that if you miss out, you dont get another Chance, to make Billy angstier and look like a worse dad, as karmic punishment, for not being there from the very beginning, to add drama... and paying less salaries dont hurt XD. Warrens twins were supposed to be the CamiBilly ones (Susana and María) but Its cheaper to shot just one scene with two kids , than having two babies and then two kids and two Adults...Having to pay 2 salaries instead of paying 6 salaries (thus saving money) Its better in Producers agenda obviously.
Teddy I like him a lot. I like show better Only because he gets more screen(Life) time!
Rod LOVE him, should have had more weight on the show. And being openly gay. I'm never getting over that 😒.
Simone, Love her!!! Best friend ever tbh. I like her better in the show (one of the few changes I liked) , cause she doesn't have much to do In the book, and also they gave us 1 - A lesbian love story and 2- two strong WOC characters (her and Bernie) , so yeah, one of my faves.
Thats It!!
My opinions on These DJATS characters:
Eddie- Tbh, he kinda sucks. I only like him bc I ship him with Daisy.
Daisy- Love-hate relationship. She can be annoying, but also a good person. Her telling Jonah Berg about Billy missing Julia's birth was messed up.
Karen- One of my favorite characters. She's really cool.
Graham- I rlly didn't like the book version, but the show version was cool.
Warren- Actual unproblematic king. The most sane member of the band
Lisa- Underrated queen. I wish she had more screen time. Also, a fashion icon.
Camila- The show writers butchered her character by having her cheat (though, since that scene's deleted, it probably isn't canon?) but besides that,I love her.
Billy- 1000 times better than Eddie, especially book!Billy. The show writers did a huge disservice to his character, and made him seem like a sh*tty dad, while in the book, he actually spent time with Julia. Erasing Susana and Maria, whose births he was there for, didn't help either.
Teddy- Again, one of the most sane characters.
Rod- Deserves more recognition. I'm still salty that he didn't get any character posters.
Simone- I kinda like her better than Daisy tbh.

ending scenes were okay, the part where they talked about how beautiful Camila and Billy’s marriage was during the time we did not get to see felt kind of hollow because of how they portrayed them in the show, like technically I believe it but I don’t feel it (I actually think having them be in their 60s like in the book instead of their 40s in the interview sections would make that and the way older Billy talks about Camila a lot more believable to me, I also just would have preferred that in general it also makes Camila’s story more depressing that they changed it. I know it’s for sequel options but that’s also dumb since I really liked the show overall but I Do Not want a season two I think the idea of one is crazy and people are crazy for wanting it). Anyway I did like the choice to only show Billy at Daisy’s door at the end and their faces but not any of their conversation that’s about to take place, it gives you just slightly more than the letter at the end of the book does without ruining the ambiguity which I was worried about, since I prefer their ending on a note of possibility over anything else more concrete.
My overall thoughts on the show as an adaptation is that I enjoyed it quite a lot and would rewatch even if I have my qualms with how specific aspects were handled (most of the changes with Karen’s character, certain things with Camila, and definitely the show is more of a drama/soap focused on chars/romance which I love but in going that route it sacrifices some of the complexity of how the book explores themes of arts and performance, memory, certain themes about complexity of relationships although others it retained). I’m definitely happy that it exists as an adaptation (which isn’t something I feel about every adaptation of source material I love). I also want to reread the book again soon so after what will be my third read I might have some other thoughts on what does/doesn’t work for me about the show.
