Unexpected Reunion - Ch 1.

A/N: I was inspired by @let-me-love-you-loki and her amazing fics and I decided to write out the fictions I wanted to, for me. This is an AU pairing of my main OC Sabrina ‘Rina’ McMahon and Nick Jackson of the Young Bucks! I also tried going back and forth between perspectives for the first time!

TW: Marty Scurrl is mentioned as a background character only, I don’t intend to mention him in further chapters.

Nick

Seeing her again, I felt like a giddy 21-year-old all over again. I remembered meeting her and the Machine Guns. Caly met Matt, and they were a thing after she dated Shelley. Rina. Rina dated Sabin for what seemed like forever, but they called it quits too. I never thought I would see her again after we left TNA, but now we were sitting across from her on the public transit system in Tokyo, Japan. She was tucked up on her seat, reading from a paperback book, and curled against AJ Styles. They had been best friends then, and clearly, that was the same. She had seen his New Japan career since she had just left TNA and was at a career crossroads.

The feelings in my stomach were just as strong, and it scared me how deeply I still felt for this woman who barely knew I existed. Matt smacked me in the chest with a knowing look, stupid older brother senses. I’d been staring. Again. I wasn’t the only one, though. Kenny seemed interested or at least curious. They didn’t know each other at all. After the eager conversation died, she dug out her book and sat cross-legged, resting against AJ’s shoulder. Their lips moved, and I couldn’t hear them, but it appeared they were having just a regular conversation. She slipped her phone out and tapped the screen a few times before tossing it into her purse with a dainty growl.

“Him again?” AJ asked loud enough to gather the entire group’s attention. Rina let out a big sigh as she turned the page in her book before closing it around a worn ticket stub bookmark.

“Mhmm. Delusions are powerful, especially ones you’ve believed your entire life.” She cracked her neck and sat upright, and stretched her legs. I studied her movements, how she held and moved her limbs, and the utmost grace she carried herself. Everything about her marveled me.

“You never did tell me the whole story,” AJ goaded her with an elbow.

“Randy and I were born a day apart. I was born on March 31st, and he on April 1st. Our fathers thought this was somehow cosmically connected; why else would two wrestling families have kids one day after the other, right? That it somehow meant we were destined to be together. Randy believed that lie our fathers told us from day one, whereas I never did. Even now, as a married man with children, he doesn’t stop. I hoped with the first marriage he would. Now we’re on the second, and it’s like I can’t escape him.” She shuddered in what could only be hatred. The others all shook their heads and returned to their devices.

Rina

I can’t believe I just shared my stalker life story with AJ and a handful of men I didn’t know well on the Tokyo bullet train. I stood up to finish stretching, turning around to face the group and holding onto the rail as I felt the stretch deep in my back. Their eyes studied me, likely thinking I was crazy. Of course, I was, I grew up in a professional circus-style life, and it’s the life I chose for myself even now at nearly 35 years old. Could you call this a midlife crisis? Or just unsure of what road to take next? Who knew. I was looking forward to some good Japanese food and maybe try a glass of sake. AJ had found new life and heights in Japan, and I was only too happy to join him to see what it was like.

It was surprising to see the Jackson brothers all these years later. Matt is still a smart ass and almost as obsessed with coffee as I was. And then there was Nick. How he looked at me gave my heart butterfly wings and hovered in my throat. Sweet, crystal blue eyes and a baby face should be on some winged marble statue. He was also delightfully goofy and light-hearted, obsessed with basketball despite not clearing 6 feet in height. Their other friends I didn’t know, Adam Page, Marty who was far too flirty but then again, he was British. Kenny was quieter, but his blue eyes were bright and observant. He was buried in a Japanese video game magazine; clearly, he had adopted Japan more than the rest. I saw a few other Japanese wrestlers on the same train, nodding hello in recognition. Returning to my seat, I sighed and let my head fall to the bench. Maybe this would be rejuvenating for me as well.

Nick

I wish I knew how to make her feel more at ease. Or how to make her smile, forget that Randy guy who bothered her. She wore black jean leggings, a faded pink t-shirt, and an oversized Disney Tinkerbell hooded sweatshirt. Her hair was faded purple and blond and hung in a loosened braid over her shoulder. Her head tilted to the side as she dozed off to sleep.

“Do I need to stick your head in a cold shower?” Matt demanded once we were sure she was asleep. I chuckled; perhaps if I let myself continue to study the curves of her chest and legs, he might need to.

“Not yet,” Matt shook his head as he never did understand why I felt so much for her. She was nearly a decade older, not exactly the type of girl I was known to go for. Sabrina McMahon was opinionated, stubborn, sometimes loud, and could be pretty vulgar. She was also maternal to a fault, caring, wise, and possibly the most intelligent person I ever met. She idolized her older brother the way I did mine. She was likely crazy, but in pro wrestling, we all were. And I was still head over heels for her. As the train slowed to a stop, AJ shook her awake and helped her up. We were all half-dead on our feet and trudged our way to the hotel.

In the quiet of the elevator, I caught those big blue eyes of hers and couldn’t stop myself from grinning like an idiot. She smiled at me back, and a hint of pink bloomed on her cheeks. I looked down at my scuffed sneakers to avoid breaking my face with a somehow even bigger grin. Having watched the little exchange, Matt shook his head. The elevator dinged, and we all piled out and scattered to our rooms. We’d meet up in a while for food, as was tradition, and I could only hope she’d join us.

Rina

After stumbling into my hotel room, I carefully removed my shoes and dragged myself to the bathroom. A long hot shower was in order, and then hunt down some coffee. I plugged my phone in and turned on some music as I let the water run to temperature. I remembered catching Nick’s eyes in the elevator and feeling like a teenager. Get caught staring at your crush. I felt my face heat up and looked away, silly woman. He was 25 to my almost 35, like he would want someone like me anyway. I pulled my hair out of its plait, peeled off my travel clothes, and finally stepped into the cascading shower.

A short while later, happily clean and feeling somewhat human, I made my way down to the lobby, searching for coffee. I had seen a cart around here, and my nose was keen on the hunt as I bumped into Matt Jackson. He had found the cart first, and I was delighted to have found him at this moment. He poured two cups and gave me one with a small smile. We toasted and enjoyed the caffeine treat as the rest of the group formed around us.

“Now, two of them need coffee,” AJ remarked.

“Ooh, you betcha, Mr. Styles their sir,” I teased in an overly pronounced Canadian accent. I stuck my tongue out at him, and he returned the gesture. A laugh went through the group as it appeared I would get along with everyone just fine. “You need two things to keep Rina happy and not complaining. Coffee and food. Either of these offerings will keep you alive; take notes, boys. Chocolate can be deployed in emergencies.” Marty and Kenny both made fantastic pantomimes of taking notes on their phones.

“Matt can’t function without coffee. Find him, and you’ll always find coffee. Now, regarding food, any of us can help you there. Everyone ready for our usual welcome meal?” AJ was a de facto leader. Everyone nodded, myself included. Food was always a welcome idea. We wandered down the street to this restaurant tucked away in a corner. The food smelled delicious, and I appreciated the English translations besides the kanji. The staff seemed to know the group as they took two corner tables and shoved them together. Soon everyone was laughing and sharing stories from the last tour. Sipping on coke, I ordered some dumplings and satay or kebab things. The others all called different things, and we exchanged promises of bites of this for that. I was wedged between Marty and Nick as I waited for a spot in the conversation and scrolled through photos on social media. I kept glancing at Nick; I could feel his presence beside me quite acutely. His khaki cargo shorts, gray tank top, and hair pulled back in a ponytail. He felt warm, and my hand would accidentally touch his leg or arm. Cramped quarters made not touching someone impossible. I was also aware of Marty on my other side, who attempted to stretch without noticing his arm slide behind me.

Nick

I was going to chicken wing Scurrl if he didn’t stop. He was typically quite flirty, and I usually didn’t mind, but when it was Rina, I did. I know I had no reason to be jealous or even have a leg to stand on to tell him to stop. My heart seized when I felt his fingers on the back of the booth, and I gritted my teeth to push the thoughts away. She wasn’t mine, and anyone could flirt with anyone. But Marty was suave and British and could have any girl that walked by. Why did it have to be her? I was used to never being able to get the women as some guys could; I was awkward and goofy. So when Marty tried to put his charm into overdrive on Rina, it ground my gears.

However, I knew I couldn’t and shouldn’t say a thing; I couldn’t show my feelings this way. Especially not knowing how she felt, either about him or me. I could feel Matt across the table, inventorying my reactions. Staff soon brought the food to us, and the concentration shifted to eating, which I was glad for something to do with my hands. I could look down and see her leg, now sheathed in regular jeans and pressed against mine.

Rina

Once the food arrived, the atmosphere lifted just a bit. I gave Marty a look, and he slid his arm back carefully. I was grateful I hadn’t need to express myself verbally, as that could have made the table awkward. I looked up and saw Nick smile just a little, and it sent my heart fluttering again. I wanted to stare into those eyes like the reflecting pools, those lovely eyes, and long eyelashes. To get lost in them, maybe even be in the circle of his arm’s embrace, leaning against his frame and staring up into those impossibly blue eyes. Our hands bumped, and we looked at each other sheepishly; he smiled and mouthed sorry. My eyes darted down with a smile before I felt AJ gently nudge me under the table. I looked at my best friend; he had a questioning look, followed by a smug-ass grin.

I bowed my head as I felt my cheeks heat up again. This would require an explanation. After dinner, we wandered the ward to keep awake and get our bodies used to the time change. The guys would be stopped for photos and autographs, and I went blissfully unnoticed until someone needed help getting a picture taken.

Nick

I couldn’t get the look on her face at dinner out of my head. Our hands had touched, and our eyes met, and at that moment, I thought maybe she liked me too. She blushed and looked away, bowing her head and redirecting her attention. I noticed her sneak looks at me after that, the pulse racing in my ears as I would think of her thinking of me. Thankfully we had to walk around to get our bearings and stave off a food coma. We stopped at a small cart, and she got an iced drink. The stall owner smiled at her and gave her a bright blue hairpin that was part of the display.

“Arigato,” She said sincerely and pushed the pin into her bun. The stall owner said something about her beauty putting aside all flowers; they were undoubtedly correct. Kenny pointed out some of the scenery and told myths and legends of the area. She listened rapturously, sipping on her hibiscus tea drink. The conversation lulled again, and I found myself walking beside her.

“So, how do you like it? Here in the ward,”

“It’s beautiful. I’d always imagined Japan would be magical, but I had no idea how much so. The stories, the people, the food.” She spoke animatedly, even using both hands after tossing away her empty cup. I could hear her go on about anything and everything under the sun. “I don’t know how I could ever want to leave at this point,” She and I locked eyes again, and I swear the world around us ceased. I could feel the breeze fluttering the leaves and hear our friends chatter and laugh, but all I could genuinely see was her. Her lips, stained rosy from her drink, slightly parted. How badly I wanted to taste the fruit of her kiss. Or even take her in my arms at that moment.

Rina

Somehow the talking between us ceased; I know I had been rambling, but the way he was looking at me, I had never seen another person look at me that way. Not lustful, but wondrous. I had the urge to throw myself into his chest and be held and looked at like that. My mouth was suddenly parched, and Nick Jackson was the only water that appealed to me. He was such a sweet soul, so goofy and light; he looked like the perfect angel that the heavens had created. As they always do, the moment was shattered by our friends as Marty threw a small football and hit Nick square in the forehead.

Public School Stuff I Wanted to Share

public school is both beautiful and horrifying am i right

so ill just go by the grades i guess

Kindergarten, first year

i did kindergartden at a catholic school in a relativly big city so this one’s got some shit

we went to church every wednesday, me and best friend (lost track of her when we moved, wish we’d stayed in touch, she was awesome) would giggle the whole time, pretty sure we made fun of jesus once, can’t remember why, possibly the hair

i had the nicest teacher, she was (as i remember her) young, blonde, and super sweet, that was the first and last year i ever had naptime

SPEAKING of naptime

i never slept during it

once i found what i remember being a nut of some sort on the ground, probably came off someone’s shoe

i grab it, turn to sarah (my best friend), say something about putting it up my nose

sarah, apparently having common sense, says, “no dont do it!! we’re supposed to be sleeping!!”

i put it up my fucking nose

try to get it out, just push it farther in

im crying a little bit now, that shit hurts

go up to my teacher

“you’re supposed to be asleep!”

“i have a nut up my nose and it wont come out”

teacher tries to get it out, but it wont budge

just. sends me back to my mat

that was it

the art room was tiny

like re-purposed broom closet tiny

there was a copy of the mona lisa in the hallway, someone had drawn ray bans on it with a pencil, never got replaced

there was a creepy-ass basement i went down to after school, we ate cheeseballs and sandwiches with some kind of meat, mayo, and that kinda yellow bread

someone broke his leg down there once, think an older kid threw him at the ceiling or something

we learned how to play Silver Bells with actual bells in music class

Kindergarten, second year

i remember these two teachers as the evil step sister-type look, but it might be my little kid imagination

but seriously they were horrible

we learned stuff in a room that was more middle-school styled, except everything was green or black and it was v dark

me and sarah attained a new friend, john

honestly i think we would’ve stayed friends for a while if i didnt move away

i have two vivid memories

one is of me really wanting to go home, so i walked by the teacher’s desk and did a fake sneeze

they laughed at me and told me to go sit back down

the other is john leaning his chair back and then falling, so me and sarah went to help him back up

it was funny, so he did it again

and again

me and sarah were laughing, had the time of our lives

after the maybe fifth time the teachers said “john can get back up by himself. sit down and stay there.”

one of the reasons we moved was bc i got sent a letter from my fourth grade buddie

most of the words weren’t spelled correctly, many letters were backwards

my mother was horrified

ofc now we know it was probably a learning disability

1st grade

this is when i moved

beginning of school i was ASTOUNDED we didnt have uniforms, one of the best things ever to happen to me

nothing wrong with this teacher, she was cool

thing is i was a little shit

told everyone my dogs died (they did but i was maybe three when it happened, i remember it not)

all my personal narratives were bullshit (only one sticks in my memory, wrote it about celebrating christmas AND hanukkah with my dad’s friends who were jewish, i have never even met those friends)

had a crush on this kid, best friend (she was terrible and helped wreck me emotionally) told me to kiss him in music class. me being a stupid ass bitch, i did it, aND HE GOES TO THE TEACHER AND CALLS ME OUT. at the end of class she gets both of us to stay for a bit, AND I DENYIED EVERYTHING. i walked across the fucking classroom, kissed him on the cheek, ran away giggling, told my teacher i didn’t do anything, AND GOT AWAY WITH IT. i’ve embarrassed myself further with this child but thats another story

2nd grade

i loved this teacher but honestly he was absolute shit

like. all he did was play the guitar and sing with us

never actually taught us stuff???

middle of the year, my mom goes in for a parent-teacher conference, he tells her i dont pay attention is math.

“what do you mean?”

“she doesn’t listen, she just takes out a book and starts reading.”

“........have you.... tried taking the book away?”

“sure, i could try that.”

“o....kay”

he also told her i’d be a girl who’d grow up to love spellcheck (which i do lmao)

like ???? why not just??? teach me to spell????

there was this one dude who one day showed up, gave me a pink stuffed cat, and then asked me where i lived

funniest thing was he lived on the same street as me

something that is vivid in my memory is showing up to class one day and realizing that i was wearing my regular clothes over my pajamas

also we had fish

every day someone else was in charge of feeding them

one of the times it was my job, i grab the fish food and walk over to the tank only to find all of the fish floating on the top

i screamed “THE FISH CAN FLY?!?!?!?!?!”

everyone ran over, all of us scarred for life when Mr. G walks over and goes in the most normal voice ever “no theyre dead”

we held a funeral

the cause of death is still undetermined

3rd grade

this year just draws a blank for me

all i know is that whoever the teacher was, they neglected to teach me how to tell time from a clock

also we learned the Cotten Eyed Joe dance in gym around here

4th grade

i had two teachers this year

one was the same one from 1st grade, the other one was a total bitch

made a girl named hannah ball her eyes out once, never apologized

i was (and am) and avid reader, so my reading skills were high above average

instead of being proud of me she told me i was weird, not normal, and too smart for a 4th grader, so i MUST be cheating.

she was the start of a lot of self confidence issues for me ngl

this was around the time i went and got tested for ADHD (me and my grandmother almost broke down on the highway but thats another story), Mrs. M (the nice one) was super supportive when i told her why i was leaving early but Ms. S (bitch) told me ADHD wasn’t real and i just wanted to be special for once

she sucked, Ms. S

5th grade

this is getting super long so this’ll be the last one i do

but my teacher..... Mr. F was A+++++

he legitimately taught me math

we had i guess like,,, a buddie class we switched with sometimes

the teacher of that class was Mrs. R, who had crazy red hair and many freckles

at one point she referenced a meme and my entire class started screaming

also there was another Mrs. S (to differentiate this one will be called Mrs. Su)

she was kind of crazy

she was the astronomy teacher and she told us many times that the moon landing was faked

once she handed out sunscreen and had everyone put it on their whole body (this was in december, fyi)

Mr. F also hosted an ‘archeological dig’ which sounds cool but in reality he had a bunch of arcade prizes from his childhood buried in little flower pots we dug into with plastic spoons

also heres some stuff i cants pinpoint the time of/happened in multiple grades:

someone held a who-can-scream-the-most-like-a-goat contest

a guy named Makenzie won

remember we planned it while the teacher left the classroom so the teacher walks back in and one by one everyone in the room starts screaming, there was some applause, a few kids got a standing ovation

we cleaned out our desks in the middle of the year, i found 3 socks and a dog treat in mine

like how the fuck did any of those things get there

and where’s the fourth sock

b o t t l e f l i p p i n g

but no seriously there were at least five water bottles stuck in the ceiling in the cafeteria

my sorta friend charlie was obsessed with paper airplanes

one time he might’ve broken the world record for longest time in the air but he was counting in his head and it was at recess so there was no video

four square and gaga ball would be played no matter the setting, time, or conditions and it was super competitive

like if you could get to king in four square you got the everlasting respect of everyone

and everyone was super educated on four square special rules, special plays, that kinda shit

no but guys i grew up with bus stop, candy store, haunted house on mondays, haunted mansion on fridays, zombies was fair game unless it was Zach, Ryan, Chrissy or Vee

me and one other guy named andrew were the only known pjo fans, had the time of our LIVES making refrences

“hey annabeth, i thought you looked like a princess when i first saw you. i printed out a picture you sent me casually and kept it with me. i snuck along on a quest so i could save you, endangering myself immensely. i held the sky for you. when you talk about your crush on luke, i get jealous. beckendorf understood, but hes dead.”

“ikr we’re literally the best of friends”

“RIGHT”

also the first time we finished mark of athena we were in the same classroom and we individually dropped the book, stood up, looked at each other, and screamed “WELL FUCK YOU TOO RICK RIORDAN”

Did you know? - Gilmore Girls FAQs, trivia and curiosites

I’ve watched this show so many times, I stopped counting years ago when I reached double digits. Is my favorite show of all times and I’ve been told almost nobody knows it as well as I do, so I decided to put together all the knowledge I’ve gained over the years of trivia tidbits, although in that I’m nowhere near an expert ;) my deal is knowing these characters and their personalities and the lines of the show lol but I figured I’d give it a try and collect all the trivia and tidbits of knowledge I’ve gained over the years in one post that I’ll continue to edit to add more stuff (there are a couple that I didn’t get a chance to add right not that will add later on)

1. Yes, that’s Kirk in guardians of the galaxy 2 http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0348231/. And yes Sam Smith (depending on the photo) does look like Kirk (Sean Gunn). Sean Gunn also played the movements of Rocket the racoon.

2. And yes that is Jess dad's girlfriend Sasha now as April's mom (yes she was/is in Twin Peaks http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000145/). Amy wanted to work with Sherilyn and rumor has it she was offered the role for Lorelai first but there’s no article yet to be found stating this directly from the Palladinos mouths.

3. And yes cousin Marilyn and Gran, Lorelai the first, Richard’s mother, are the same actress. (Happy Day’s Mrs Cunningham http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005385/?ref_=nv_sr_1).

3. Yes the girl in SH high unnamed who asks Lorelai a question and Logan’s LBD friend Juliette are the same actress. Different character. Riki Lindhome played the unnamed student of SH high and Juliette

5. Yes the first episode looks completely different (not just in the diner) because it was filmed in a different location (Ontario, Canada).

6. Yes, that’s Luke in Seinfeld. (”sponge worthy guy”) and in Will & Grace, jerk guy obsessed with huge boobs, Grace wanted to impress with the water bra. Lauren was also in Seinfield as one of Jerry’s brief girlfriends. That’s also a young Lauren in Caroline in the city.

7. That’s Chris in friends (hums when he pees guy). Yes that's both Luke and Chris on Will & Grace (Luke water bra artist narcissistic guy, Chris cabin in the woods hot guy).

8. Yes that is Logan (and with Usher for that matter lol) in that scene at 7th heaven . And yes Logan. Matt Czuchry was in the good wife, and he has his own show now “The Resident” on Fox. Currently filming a second season (as in October 1st, 2018)

9. Yes Crazy Carrie was also the Stars Hollow High teacher (by a different name) in the pilot. Same actress that plays crazy Carrie but different name of character

10. No, nobody knows if the show will ever come back (as far as it’s been told everything points to a NO). The Palladinos don’t double book, they are happy doing Mrs Maisel and they devote themselves to one show at the time. The last interview they gave on the subject was to Michael Ausiello in the podcast you can hear in the links. 1. This is a link directly to the podcast that opens right up and they say "it would have to be the right time , we don't know but we're open. Basically is nothing we didn't know. 11. No, Lauren Graham did not have cancer and write a book about it. (different person, same name).

12. No, Lauren and Scott didn't hate each other's guts they just weren't BFFs. They have both said this endlessly, they have respect for each other. Scott had a crush on Lauren when he begun the show. But from what has been told and learned about Scott, it seems he doesn’t like to get along with the rest of the cast unless is for his personal gain.

13. NO Rory is not a surrogate. They never even discussed the surrogacy Lorelai with Rory neither did Paris with Rory and Gilmore Girls is a light dramedy not a soap opera it doesn’t have sudden hidden scenes that come to change the show completely, other shows, soap operas could do that, Gilmore Girls DOES NOT. She is NOT pregnant of the Wookie. She never slept with Paul (the actor even said it wasn’t Paul’s) Milo said Jess is not the father and doesn’t romantically love Rory anymore. Only Alexis and Matt were told who the father of the baby is. The Palladinos have said clearly that the father of Rory’s baby was never meant to be a mystery. The only person that fits is Logan. The only actors they have told are Alexis and Matt and told them they could do what they wanted with the information but they have chosen not to say anything because is Amy’s story.And the Palladinos have said IT IS THE OBVIOUS CHOICE. So, Logan is the father, is no cliffhanger is open ending. Yes it would be lovely to see more of them but the Palladinos don’t have the style of wrapping up things in a big pink bow.

14. Ace is Logan’s term of endearment for Rory, it shows respect and admiration, it comes from what they used to call top reporters in the 50’s movies, he first calls her that in a IM conversation at the Yale daily news in the episode season 5 episode 6 of Norman Mailer, I’m pregnant!. Not in the poker game, not in the LDB first gathering. Is a term of respect for her abilities investigating the Life and Death Brigade.

15. The love rocket. Rory understood the meaning because it was the same model, came from an episode of the Twilight zone that was Logan’s favorite. It didn’t need confirmation from Logan because Rory had already said she understood it and she explained it to Lorelai in the same episode: “When Logan and I were first going out, we were in the pool house one night really late, and we were falling asleep on the couch. And this episode of "the twilight zone" came on -- "the long morrow." There's this astronaut who was supposed to go into space for 40 years, but right before he left, he met this beautiful woman. But for those 40 years that he was going to be in space, he was going to be in suspended animation. So when he came back to earth, he was going to be really young, but she would be really old. So he goes into space, and when he does come back, the woman is still young and beautiful because she put herself in suspended animation to wait for him, but he's really, really old because he took himself out of suspended animation so he could be old with her. He spent 40 years alone in space just waiting to see her, and he was willing to come back as an 80-year-old man, giving up almost his entire life just to spend those last few years with her. The point is, that this is Logan's favorite episode of "the twilight zone." And when we watched it together, he said, "that's true love." That's true love! This is the most romantic gift I've ever been given.”.

16. Chris wasn’t at Rory’s high school graduation. He was however at her college graduation. The reason they give is he had to work. Probably the actor who was a guest star was doing another project and couldn’t be in the episode or they just didn’t want to write him in so they could develop more the arc between Lorelai and Luke.

17. June 3rd is the date of Rory’s court date AND the date chosen by Lorelai for hers and Luke’s wedding in the original show. Is the same date different year, coincidence as Lorelai herself says the date happened to happen. There’s a theory that is ASP’s best friend Helen Pai’s birthday. Since it was in an old interview we haven’t found the confirmation of it yet becaue there’s no data (at least on the searches we’ve done so far by various people) on Helen Pai’s date of birth.

18. Lane’s story is loosely based on Helen Pai’s, executive producer of the show and Amy Sherman Palladino’s best friend. HEP ALIEN is an anagram of her name (Pai’s name). Helen Pai’s husband is real life Dave Rygalski which was the character of Dave initially based on until the actor had to leave for a better offer.

19. The real life Dave Rygalski shows up in the troubadour’s “attack” episode, he was with Daniel Palladino who was singing a beaver ate my thumb Dan is singing and Dave is playing the bass. Daniel Palladino is also the town loner, the one who protests at the church and appears briefly in the pilot episode leaving Luke’s. In total Dan Palladino shows up three times in the show

20. Keiko Agena and Emily Kuroda are Japanese American that’s why when they speak korean in very few moments in the show is very difficult to understand for people who do understand korean. Also Mrs Kim’s real name, at least Korean’s name is Jong Ya. Lane’s is Hyun Kyung, without last names, which come first in Korean Culture so Lane would be Kim Hyun Kyung, Mrs Kim however would not be Kim as last name, that’s a westerner tradition, in Korea women don’t change their last name when they marry and they are referred as Madam, Auntie, or as mother of such (name of youngest child) depending on level of familiarity. There’s never a mention of Mrs Kim’s “westerner” first name.

21. There’s also no idea of what Lane’s father does or where he is during the original show. Amy Sherman Palladino show creator said she never saw the need to create or cast a Mr Kim because it was more to focus in the mother and daughter dinamics. No is not the unnamed Asian waiter at Luke’s. Mr Kim appears in the revival for a brief moment, never before. There’s a fan theory going around that he was never there because he had to constantly be traveling to supply antiques for the store. Lane mentions “my parents”, “my mother and father” in a handful of ocassions through the show. He WAS NOT the unnamed Asian waiter that is always at the background at Luke’s. The Palladinos had never made anyone pass for Mr Kim not even as the back of a head until the revival as a way of fan service and as a joke like saying “oh look, so maybe he had been there the entire time”.

23. What does Lane’s grandmother say when she arrives at the house before the wedding? Grandma takes her coat and she sees Lane, she calls out her name Hyun Kyung-a (the a is an added sound they use for familiarity when they call someone's name) and tells her to come down. After Lane comes down she pats her in the cheek and says Lane is "oh so pretty!". Lane replies, "welcome, grandmother, I am very happy you came." The grandmother then says, "it's good to have come / I'm glad I came." She then talks to Mrs Kim (Yong Ja-ya Jong Ya is the name the ya the added familiarity informal sound), asking why is that Budha statue here in the room?. Mrs Kim says I was going to move it, mother (formal). Grandma walks through the house she's saying, "ugh, it's so dirty and stuffy in here - open a door." Then Mrs Kim says something that sounds sort of like, "rest first, please." When the camera cuts to Lane and Rory giving each other 'the look,' Grammy Kim is saying, "hey, why didn't you come out to the airport?" Mrs Kim maybe replies, "you said yesterday... that I shouldn't..." (and the sentence doesn't finish). Grammy Kim then says, "the atmosphere/karma is bad [in here]. It needs to be changed. Let's bow 108 times."

24. The episode of Jess in California “Here comes the son” WAS the backdoor pilot episode of what was going to be made into a spin off. But it wasn’t deemed interesting enough by the network to justify the expenses of shooting in the actual locations so it didn’t happen.

25. Miss Celine and Drella the harpist are the same actress. Alex Borstein. She was going to be Sookie, she was in the unaired pilot but due to conflicts with her other show she couldn’t be so she came later as other characters. She was also the voice in Dwight’s answering machine (especially my trivial pursuit!) and the woman’s voice in the museum. Jackson was married to her but they are divorced know.

26. Paris (Liza Weill) initially auditioned for the role of Rory, she didn’t get it but they liked her so much they created Paris for her.

27. Luke was initially going to be a woman but they figured the show needed more testosterone so they casted Scott. This has been the first and only major role Scott Patterson has had in his entire “career” as an actor, the one that led him to get a few more minor roles, rumor has it, he’s very difficult to work with and not talented enought to be worth the pain. He milks Gilmore Girls every chance he gets.

28. Sookie was going to be gay but the network put a stop to that, they didn’t want any openly gay characters in the show. The Palladinos were new at this so they accepted the network’s conditions. Is probably why Michel was always put as bicurious or closeted gay man during the original show and was only fully out in the revival as an obvious thing that needed no explanation or backstory because everyone always assumed Michel was gay.

29. Kirk (Sean Gunn) was initially just an appearance, Mick in the pilot episode, then swan guy, then Kirk new manager at Doose’s new in town who didn’t know Miss Patty or anyone and then became the Kirk Gleason we know and love. Sean Gunn was initially an extra but they loved him so much they created Kirk Gleason as permanent character for him.

30. Gypsy and Berta, the maid in AYITL are both played by the extremely talented, Rose Abdoo. She was hilarious in a reading when they hadn’t casted anyone yet so she was given the part. Her language is “berta-ese” lol She speaks mostly Spanish, a couple of words could be Brazilian portuguese (maybe?), is mostly nonsensical Spanish words in the kind of Spanish that wouldn’t make a sentence with any meaning or sense and Rose Abdoo said she had changed a few vowels of the words to make it more confusing.G

31. The unkown town elder (towel guy) is played by William Morgan Sheppard. He was never in the show before or after.

32. None of the elders were the same actors or characters of Richard’s two friends in the golf outing with Rory. But one of those friends was the reverend that buries gran, and in the revival is Charlie of the gazette.

34. When they take the roadtrip to Harvard. The picture of the girl Lorelai stares at when she’s in the hallway is a stranger it has to do with the year not the girl herself. That's the year she would have graduated if she went to an Ivy league college as it was planned. It was sort of a “what if” moment.

35. Emily Gilmore didn’t go to Yale she went to Smith to study History. Women weren’t admitted in Yale at the time Richard and Emily went to college but it was usual that girls colleges and guys colleges would have parties together and visited each other when there were couples. First mention of Emily attending Smith was in season 5. How many kropogs to cape cod. Richard jokes how Emily got kicked out of the women’s softball team for elbowing another girl. In season 7 I’m a kayak hear me roar, Emily says she went to Smith and majored in History.

36. They talk about Richard’s mother in the first season in past tense but later on Trix appears. It was an error of the first season when things weren’t that defined.

37. Alexis Bledel and Milo Ventimiglia did date in real life, apparently it ended really badly. She also dated Jared Padalecki. She didn’t date Matt Czuchry at least not that is known but both are extremely private people, however they are good friends and trust each other a lot from every interview they have given and enjoy working together. She’s now happily married to her Mad Men costar Vincent Kartheiser and they have a beautiful boy together.

38. Luke’s diner has the sign of William’s hardware store and not Danes’ because as a fandom we assume William was his dad’s first name. You’ll see changes in the diner all through the show. However Luke’s parents names are never mentioned ever during the show. The pilot episode was filmed in Unionville Ontario in a building that was formerly Williams hardware. For continuity when they moved to the studio lot at Warner Brothers the name was kept. I don't remember them ever explaining the name on the series other than the hardware store belonged to Lukes father

39. Lorelai’s doll house is NOT the same dollhouse on friends but it is the dollhouse they show on sale at Kim’s antiques, in one episode where Lane is going to talk to her mom about the band and Mrs Kim cracks the joke “but is past their bedtime”.

40. Yes Gil from Hep Alien is Sebastian Bach from Skid Row.

41. Yes the “hug-a-world” that was in the garage in season 4 is on their couch in season 1! (Same as the scary clown pillow is in a number of seasons lying around lol)

42. Alexis Bledel is actually a Latina. She was born and raised in the US but grew in a Spanish speaking, latino, household, her father and paternal grandfather are Argentinian, her mother, like herself was born in the US, but Alexis’ mother grew up in Mexico. Alexis didn’t learn English until she started school. The episode where Rory speaks Spanish with Esperanza (Season 6 episode 2: “Fight face”) she anglicized her native Spanish BECAUSE Rory didn’t know much Spanish. There’s an old interview with Ellen Degeneres on set while filming season 6 or 7 that she’s asked to translate for Lauren, she doesn’t translate everything due to nervousness. (It also happens when you live your adult life in a country that doesn’t speak your first language, growing up bilingual, you tend to adopt the accent of the language you use most and tend to confuse some words when you don’t use your native language often).

43. People praised the chemistry and physical closeness between Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, but there is actually a very logical reason for this: Alexis was a model and was just starting out acting and had a tougher time making her marks, so as veteran, Lauren often physically moved Alexis to make sure she was in the right place. Lauren told “The Today Show” in 2015: "The camerawork on that show is very specific and we really had to hit certain marks, which especially when you start out, is just a foreign concept...I remember a lot of times just kind of grabbing her, just kind of leading her arm. So, in the beginning, people are like, 'You have such great chemistry.' And I'm like, 'I'm mauling her. That's why.'"

Minerva McGonagall. Finds her to be a motherly figure in which she likes to confide in. She helps her deal with alot of her emotions she tries to hide.

Filius Flitwick: She holds a great amount of respect for him as a dueler. She wants to learn as much as she can from him.

CLOSEST HPHM FRIENDS:

Barnaby Lee: Well obviously when they first met it wasn’t so...nice. He threatened to vanish the bones from her body, she challenged him to try like the reckless Gryff she is. However, once Aleksia got to know him, she saw the kindness in his heart and how incredibly sweet he was, which made her eventually fall for him. Aleksia became very protective of him, and ensured that he never felt stupid or unwanted. She knows what it is like to be treated like an idiot, so she makes sure no one treats him that way.

Merric Nyx and Revena Sevier ( my ocs): Their relationship is siblings. They met back one of the times that Aleksia’s father locked her out of the house, and Merric and Revena made friends with her. She’s very protective of them.

Penny Haywood: at first she was slightly intimidated by her popularity and thought that she was going to be one of those fake nice people. However, as she got to know Penny she found out that she just was genuinely a nice person. They became very close, and now considers her to one of her best friends.

Rowan Khanna: Rowan is Aleksia’s number one supporter since day one. Even though Rowan can be extreme at times, she comes from a place of care. Aleksia considers her to be like another sister and would do anything for her friend. They study alot together and share a similar love for books.

Talbott Winger: After getting to know Talbott and helping him find his mothers necklace, they found themselves growing close. Sometimes they just enjoy each others company in silence while they read books or just have a conversation about how they want to make the future better.

CLOSEST MC FRIENDS:

Lau King: @slytherin-puffskein Lau and her may be Gryffindor and Slytherin, but they do share a love of mischief and rebellion, even if Aleksia’s is smaller than his. Aleksia may have wanted to fight Lau once because of cookies but she would do anything to protect the sweet orchid boy. He is deemed as her tol freckled son and she will fight anyone who messes with him. She loves giving him hugs and talking with him because he is such an amazing listener. She has definetely fought people for them saying anything about him being a muggleborn. Felix Rosier and Angelica Cole both love and hate these two before the time they leave Hogwarts.

Sonia Azur: @onboroo This girl. She thinks she is awesome and totally tries to set her and Merric up. Though at first Sonia’s cool nature may have made her think that she didn’t like her, they slowly warmed up to each other and considers Sonia to be a valuable friend. Between her, Merric, Sonia and Revena, they are kind of a force to be reckoned with. One of her greatest friends for sure.

Alex Johnson ( @cervo-live-in-arts ): Alex is a sweet boi who she considers to be one of her best friends. She likes how open he is about his feelings and encourages him to do so. She will let him vent to her if he so needs. They also enjoy playing Gobstones together, each trying to distract the hell out of each other. Alex becomes God father to her and Barnaby’s kids. She considers him to be like her little brother and is very protective. Alex may have had to hold Aleksia back from headbutting Merula MANY MANY times.

David Denneth: @callmederok David may seem a bit tough, but he is still a sweet guy, and Aleksia can see that. She thinks that Penny and him are cute, and tries to set them up, only if with consent. They both share a dislike of Merula, and may have set up a few pranks to get back at her before...NOTHING YOU CAN PROVE!!!!!!!!!!! O_O

Aisling Baskerville @elefseija Aleksia and Aisling are dorm buddies that’s for sure. Both Gryffs are stubborn to the core and together are a great quidditch chaser duo. Both enjoy talking alot in the dorm rooms to the point poor Rowan will probably end up telling the two to shut the hell up. Poor Rowan...XD ahhaa Aleksia is more outgoing but loves quiet moments so I think they would both enjoy reading together. She like Aisling loves mythology, so she would be soaking up any knowledge Aisling has on anything really. Also don’t touch their cookies or talk about either of their heights. He supports the police as an instutition, specifically Chicago PD. He made a post on Instagram in favor of CPD which ofc received backlash from fans but he ignored the negative comments and brushed it off as “there are bad people in every profession” and then he deleted the post. Story of a fan who gave Matt a letter criticizing him for being friends with Argento, and the same night he posted a picture of her on IG (I think it was this post)… which seems like a subtle F*CK YOU at the person who gave him the letter. (he can’t take criticism, can he?)

His IG activity is .. something else. Matt’s major interests are motorbikes, cars, and young, attractive, half-naked models and strippers. One of his recent likes (nudity and bruises cw) [x] [x] [x] [x]….that one is an actual porn actress he follows and thirsts over: (more nudity cw) [x] he commented ‘cool butt momma. miss you xoxo’ [x] [x] (liked)…and my “personal fave” a picture with a sex worker [x] he deleted the picture ofc

HE LOVES GUNS (+said that he would use them) he has quite a big gun collection: SIG SAUERs, a Morning Star, many knifes, a shotgun, a Desert Eagle gun, a samurai sword, a faux snakeskin baton, and more stuff I can’t remember, he posted his collection on November 5th 2018 on IG, but unfortunately I didn’t take a screenshot!! but he posted them individually on IG. [x] [x] [x] [x] etc. and a recently deleted pic at the shooting range [x] ……also this pic exists.. edgelord (tw gun to the head).

In the comments of the same post (I swear on my life it’s real, you have to trust me) a user commented that he’s a Trump supporter but he would still defend Matt, even if he’s “politically left”. Matt’s answer: “I would defend you too, my man!”. o k a y. then Matt said he identifies as “quite a bit left” o K AY. MATT. Just so btw. the user also had a name including “88″ ( is a code phrase commonly used in fascist circles for “Heil Hitler”) or he just meant the year 88. but I saw some racist “memes” on his IG too.

Matt has a weird obsession with WW2. He literally watched a holocaust docu on HIS FUCKING BDAY (or at least he posted about it) and he said he collects WW2 books. Theoretically, nothing wrong with being interested in history, but in the context of everything… bad vibes……….

He really loves Nordic/Scandinavian-related stuff, like jewelry of the Hammer of Thor etc and he even uses MS runes for his merch. Runes are popular among occultists but they also have a really problematic history concerning WW2 and the nazis. Considering one of his most favorite bands Death in June mentions runes in their lyrics and they are a REALLY REALLY questionable band flirting with nazi imagery and being openly affiliated with fascist and far-right satanists, I have every right to question Matt’s intentions.

He literally has a crutch cross tattoo on his chest (which was used as the symbol of Austro-Fascism, and is also the logo of the neo folk - nazi band Blood Axis) PHOTO 1, PHOTO 2 and an EDELWEISS tattoo [x], which is the national flower of Austria and is considered a magical flower in occult circles. Nothing wrong with having a flower tattoo but it was used a lot in the context of nationalsocialism and “traditional values”. To add, it was also used as a symbol of the 1st Mountain division “Gebirgsjäger” in WW2 (Hitler’s elite formation of the Wehrmacht who were involved in large scale war crimes).

Matt’s a huge DIJ fan, attended their concerts [x] and Douglas P. reads the intro of the Alkaline Trio song “I Found Away”. DIJ uses fascist symbols and “aesthetics” for the band, including an SS Totenkopf logo.

HE IS BEST FRIENDS with Boyd Rice, (here’s a picture of them holding Wolfsangels, a nazi symbol) they are REALLY CLOSE. According to Rice’s IG they meet every week and hang out and Rice considers Matt “family”… the entire Boyd Rice shit can be read in this post (important please read). Matt even attacked fans that were calling him out and called them stupid.

Many of the movies he praises blatantly depict violence against women, like Blue Velvet, Funny Games, A Clockwork Orange (it has almost 3 rape scenes in the first 15 minutes), lyrics like “Radio” can be seen as misogynist, he literally wishes that his ex-GF (/or someone’s ex-gf) should take a bath with a radio and get electrocuted.

A person on IG commented that his ex-girlfriend accused him of domestic violence, I have no proof for that but he deleted the comments ofc and then a few days later he donated money to a women’s shelter in LA… which seems like he’s trying to avoid a shitstorm…

Matt used to be a member of the Church of Satan, just leaving this here. you can argue if it’s good or bad but there seems to be a connection between satanists and neo-nazis .. sadly.

He listed the song* “Los Angeles” by X among his faves in this interview [x] (*edit: Someone has reached out to me and explained that the song was not racist, antisemitic or anything but from the *perspective* of a racist. However, we don't know Matt's reason for liking the song and considering his WW2 fetish, it's sketchy that he would consider the song as one of his favorites. Maybe he likes it because the song openly says things out loud under the veil of "sarcasm" that would be criticized under different circumstances. 2. I was born January 5th and EVERY YEAR on my bday, my mom tells me the same story regarding my birth, the weather and so forth. (I just let her do it. XD)

(500 years later I get my shit together and finish formatting this monster of a response. also fyi tumblr needs to step up its post game because jesus christ this took forever.)

Short Info: Gods and high-ranking demons can’t interact with the physical plane. The Gods use Paragons (extremely dedicated followers who fit the gods’ morals and beliefs to a t, they can possess them with little to no trouble), and the high-ranking demons use low-ranking demons to create halflings, which then do their bidding. Gods are not the polar opposite of demons - demons are subservient to the gods, and a lot of them are bitter about this. Gods also have control over this death entity called Mist, which has recently fallen been stolen by rebellious halflings. It’s been consuming towns and absorbing people for a while, but it’s now threatening the religious capital and the gods by extension, which ain’t good.

Characters:

Chryss: Short for Chrysanthe (which is feminine - demonic naming conventions are weird). Pansexual, he/him pronouns. A halfling (human mother, demon’s don’t have definite genders) who was raised by a group of thieves and rogues lead by his mother Lore. He’s pretty nice and extroverted, tries to be a cool dude. The kleptomania is a problem and so is his intense avarice, but he’s working on it - he gives Aggie (the MC) his old throwing knives to practice with. He’s my fuckin son and i love him.

Sibyl Chavez: Bisexual, more hetero. she/her pronouns. Born in a fishing town on the coast. A by-the-book sweetheart, she’s observant and critical. Her faith is unshakable, but she is a little scared to be a Paragon after what happened to the last ones. Works with Eleanor (another MC, gay for Aggie) to document her condition, and takes over when she is too tired. My nervous daughter, would give her a standing ovation at her cello recital.

Philemon Diot: Bisexual. he/him pronouns. Emotionally reserved empath. He’s from a pretty famous family, but he’s trying to identify himself as “Philemon the Paragon” and not “Philemon, from the Diot Family.” Well-mannered, intelligent, prideful, and just a little bit of a sadist. Friendly but not really close to Eleanor, until she comes to him for help with Aggie and then they gossip like nobody’s business. A borderline asshole.

Sibyl - a small scar on the bottom of her foot from stepping on a fish hook, scars from Paragon-related sparring practice, and some acne scars on her face, back, and chest.

Sibyl - She works closely with Eleanor on medical books, and the latter will illustrate certain stories with poorly drawn stick figures. Sibyl thinks they’re cute.

Philemon - you know those annoying soccer mom stories you hear at your 10-year old cousin’s birthday party??? that’s what he laughs at, sincerely. he is also a sucker for mispronunciations and emphasizing the wrong syllable (“Sih-BEEHL,” “PhileMOON”)

Chryss - It depends on your definition. Chryss won’t give away your secrets and is incredibly loyal, but he is a bit of a kleptomaniac and has a problem with “borrowing” things. If you’re friends and ask politely, he’ll return it, but if you’re strangers you’ve lost your valuables forever.

Sibyl - She panics under stress and may blurt out secrets in an act of self preservation - not to divert blame, just to make sure that all information is readily available. For the most part, however, she is trustworthy.

Philemon - Not super trustworthy. He enjoys gossip and doesn’t have a good sense of “hey, maybe this person wants me to keep their secrets secret.” It’s nothing purposefully malevolent, but not super nice. He’s also got an incredible poker face - he doesn’t use it often, but when he does you’ll have no idea until it’s too late. Proceed with caution.

90. Do they consider themselves attractive?

Chryss - fairly self-conscious of his burn scars, but manages to feel better by covering them with high gloves and long pants/tall boots. Other than that, he’s fairly satisfied with his appearance.

Sibyl - considers herself average looking

Philemon - pretty vain, and takes great effort to make sure he looks decent (read: imposing). he thinks he’s hot shit.

100. Create your own! I didn’t want to create my own, so I asked Siri for a random number and got: 95. What is their greatest weakness?

Chryss - His mother taught him to appreciate the thrill of a robbery, and it’s become some sort of an obsession for him now. If he needs a pick-me-up - let’s steal some stuff! But worse than that is his underlying Greed that comes from his halfling status, his demonic parent’s main sin. At its peak, it overrules empathy and reason, and he can betray even those he loves the most.

Sibyl - She fucking PANICS. When she was younger, she was rendered almost completely useless by her anxiety. Sibyl’s better with it now, especially with help from her friends and superiors, but if she were to go through emotional upheaval or some big reveal, she’d be out of commission for at least a few days.

Philemon - For the most part, Philemon is reasonable and knows his limits. But sometimes, he gets caught up in promises and lies and stretches himself too thin, and this gets him in serious trouble. He’s got a delicate web of friends and allies, and if one of those were to become an enemy, the whole thing could fall apart.

To Cry Is To Be Human

For anyone following my blog you know I’ve become obsessed with @charminglyantiquated ‘s Elsewhere University and look!! I actually wrote something! Tbh the Otherness vibe makes my mind go straight to 2nd person, so 1st was a bit, and I hope I was able to capture the feeling off something just a little bit off.

I’m the one they tell stories about.

Never more than a hushed voice, or a hurried whisper in passing, but I know. In my classes I always have at least one spot open on either side of me. In line at the cafeteria the older students look back to make sure they aren’t taking the last thing they think I might want. I know no one’s birth name, not even those I might consider a friend.

I know exactly when the change was too, in how my fellow students view me.

My dormmate had disappeared for a night before returning, pupils a little too slitted to not be like Them, but who was I to say anything? The change was not unusual at campus, and Hay had been more depressed than before anyway. Staying out late, carrying more candy than iron or salt.

No one said art majors weren’t already a little Lost.

We had never really gotten along greatly, but he had been a grounding presence for me, an easy source of chatter to draw me out of the math calculations that consumed me. I don’t know why I chose Elsewhere U as my university, seeing as I had planned on being a civil engineer, but I had been drawn into the beauty of it when I toured the campus. Our group of 15 had returned as a group of 16 and we had been warned to take campus traditions very seriously, but details.

After Not Hay had taken over, I noticed small things. Batteries missing from my calculators, thrown in the waste bin and covered with crumpled papers. All the fruit gone from our shared mini fridge, replaced with food that looked a little too ripe for the season. I started eating at the cafeteria more often after that. My side of the room was always left untouched, but I still left more ramen seasoning packets under my pillow and in my dresser. July had told me it was better to be safe than sorry, words that campus lived by.

Not Hay would try and help me with my homework sometimes in exchange for me playing a small tune my Nana had taught me on a fiddle that had been passed through generations, but they weren’t much help. I always told them I appreciated the effort though, a small nod of my head that could be interpreted as a bow.

Looking back I suppose I grew to prefer the unnatural presence of Not Hay over other people.

But that’s not why I’m the one they tell stories about.

The finals for the first semester of the year had creeped up on me, resulting in many nights staying awake on at my desk fueled by nothing but energy drinks and cafe mochas as I worked on advanced quantum physics questions. I had just wanted to build bridges, not understand how the universe worked on a quark scale. I could tell I was upsetting Not Hay by the icy looks I felt on my back. Not that Not Hay slept.

But it was always better to be safe than sorry, so I packed up and made my way to the campus Science Library. It was the best place to be left alone, after all, not many of Them were interested in chemical equations or could understand math proofs. Not that many people were all that interested in them either.

I don’t remember how long I was in the library before, or how I got so far back in between the shelves of books whose names I couldn’t pronounce, but I had found a desk and an outlet, and honestly what more did a university student need as they crammed for a final that was worth 75% of their grade.

I had been working over the same problem for over an hour, several steps needed to find the final value but I was stuck on the very first part. I could have been muttering to myself, or maybe They had just sensed my panic. I hadn’t spoken to anyone in several days, even if I had seen Not Hay most of the time. Not Hay never seemed to speak while I was in the room, something I had been thankful for at the time.

“Are you alright?”

The voice had started me so badly I had marked up my paper with a twitch of my pen. I remember trying to find my voice, knowing it was rude to leave a question unanswered. The girl in front of me seemed to take my silence as an answer anyway. She had looked over my station of worn down pencils, crumpled up papers, and my long empty coffee mug I had taken to stabbing in distracted worry, intelligent eyes scanning my notes before looking at me again. Her freckles reminded me of constellations, the way they blinked in and out across her pale skin like stars.

“Are you happy?”

Her voice seemed to come from behind me, even as I was facing her. Looking back, she could have been trying to get me to make a deal with her, but at the time all I could do was cry. No one had asked me if I was happy for years, my family pushing me to follow the lineage of engineers before me and my classmates too caught up in their own studies to notice.

I didn’t answer again, instead letting my head fall to the desk as I sobbed. A cold hand was placed on the crown of my head cautiously. That was all the invitation I had needed before I had thrown myself at the girl and sobbed in her arms.

I missed my final.

Not that it would have mattered.

I had cried myself to sleep, for once not dreaming of failing out of school, but instead of a tall and spindly creature with hair as fine as spun silver and eyes as white as snow, limbs bent at unnatural angles and too many teeth hidden behind pale lips. They soothed me, the same voice as the girl from before ringing through my ears. When I woke up I was much closer to the entrance of the library than I had been before, my textbook and notebooks stacked neatly and my coffee cup gone.

I looked at my notes, unable to read anything.

I don’t know if it had been a curse for dirtying Their clothes with my tears, or a pitied gift meant to free me in exchange, but either way I grew to be grateful for it.

I switched majors after a brief conversation with a guidance counselor. I could still do everything up to basic calculus, and so decided I’d look at teaching careers instead. I had always liked children, and the small town at the bottom of the hill had opened a new primary school suddenly.

But that’s not why I am the one they tell stories about.

They tell stories about me because I had been given the Sight when the Fair One had taken my ability to cry.

I have been having lovely conversations with Not Hay lately. About riddles and dances, all smiles and twisted words as students hurry by us, pretending not to hear the hiss in our voices.

Sometimes I see Their shadow as I walk from one class to another. I always bow my head with a small smile, and She returns it from the corner of my eye.

She looks a little more human, eyes not quite as sharp and a healthy flush to Her cheeks.

I do not miss my tears.

Happiest Memory: The birth of his first niece, Ayeza. It wasn’t that long ago, but in an extensive history of happy memories with his family, that probably stands out as the best. He loves that kid more than life itself.

Childhood Trauma: Amir was bullied pretty badly growing up. In KSA with his dad it wasn’t an issue, but whenever he returned to London to see his mom, the kids weren’t kind. At all. Sef Weyden (Son): Sef and Bitwa had a brutal falling out over his lack of motivation. Sef denounced his father and took on the moniker of Weyden to show his disapproval of his father. They haven’t spoken in 200 years, though he talks to his mother and sister. He’s become a father and grandfather multiple times over, and Bitwa is eager to teach any grandchildren who may come to him from Sef.

Cyril Armii (Son): Cyril is the youngest and most skilled of his children for his age. His eidetic memory has aided him well with his Ambient Resource Construction power, and he is already showing signs of easily creating Artificial Souls.

Romantic Connections:

Raima Armii (Former Wife): Raima and Bitwa married when they were relatively young and had kids quickly thereafter. She was a powerful ergokinetic in her own right and they had a very happy marriage. However, the constant pain she suffered through as a result of her power was agonizing. One day Raima left a radiation burn on Tariq, and was horrified at what she did. He’d found the note she left him before they found her body in the river. Bitwa has been one of the largest donors and researchers in finding cures or at least aids for Ergokinetics’ symptoms.

Shireen Armii (Wife): It was 100 years before Bitwa was able to open himself up. Shireen was different from Raima and it wasn’t as instantaneous of a love connection. However there was a steady calmness to Shireen, one that grounded both him and his children. He was extremely overprotective, and overbearing, the first 50 years of their marriage; terrified that she would abandon him and his children. It took her falling pregnant, and a serious warning from her to back off and allow her to live as a self possessed warlock. They’ve been much better since and had 3 children of their own. She was the one who pushed the move to Chicago so he could go back to mentoring.

Platonic Connections:

Averill Sookram (Friend): Averill Sookram was not a person Bitwa ever anticipated calling a friend. They met after his youngest decided to mentor under him for Hexes and Jinxes. He has a brilliant mind and is tough on his students; a practice Bitwa follows in his own teaching. They’ll get together to smoke and have a drink when Averill is in town, and in that time period.

Ishtar Cleirigh (Friend): Ishtar had known Raima, and was working on a solution for her pain when she died. In the following years, when Ishtar came back his way they’d talk and she’d spout some arrogant vague nonsense about his future happiness. He hadn’t believed her until he met Shireen and the pieces fell into place in his mind. Tariq briefly mentored under her before ultimately settling down with a different mentor in Sao Paulo.

Harry Reeves (Mentee): Harry was the first mentee that Bitwa took on in Chicago. He’s an ergokinetic with wonderful skill and discipline, but terrible drive. Harry is aimless and stumbles into every life choice and experience, even in finding a mentor. Bitwa has been reserved about forcing this issue with him, given how Sef reacted all those years ago. He thinks if he could find a reason for Harry to try, he could be brilliant. A part of his mind also thinks back to his wife and the suffering she went through as an ergokinetic, but he doesn’t dwell on this.

Ronan Cleirigh (Friend): He and Ronan primarily know each other through Ishtar, and he holds a great respect for the man. He takes care of his own and has a successful and driven family.

Jace Cicero (Friend): Jace is an old friend of Bitwa. He was the one who suggested to Shireen that they come and live in Chicago for a while. They trained together for many years, and Shireen even mentored under Jace.

Hostile Connections:

Vladimir Draga (Dislikes): Bitwa has seen many mentors in his time, but few who cares as little as Draga does. In the times he has seen Vladimir with his mentees, they seem like a burden. He thinks he should go back to the Mark book.

Kady Gaines (Dislikes): Kady, like Vlad, seems to not take her responsibilities very seriously. Mentoring for a craft is a fine thing to do, but when you care more about your own workings than your students it may be time to step back from those responsibilities.

Shara: Just finished “So that got weird” by Amelia Kingston. She’s a new author to me and I really enjoyed the book! Completely recommend.

The Host by Stephanie Meyer <— WE LOVE THIS ONE SO MUCH so when the big news was hinted at for Stephenie Meyer, many were hoping it might be for more of this! Not that it NEEDS a sequel (it reads well as a standalone but… we loved it so much, how could we not want more?)

Meredith: Don’t get me wrong because I loved Twilight but I would much rather have a sequel to The Host. The first time I read it it, I closed the book, hugged it to my chest and tried to figure out what to do next….which was to immediately start rereading it. I still get the same feeling every time I read it now, I 100% don’t want it to be over.

Taylor: Meredith, I was literally here to say this. I WANT A HOST SEQUEL

Bonnie: Meredith, by far her best book. There’s so much potential there, even if the sequel was a totally different group in the same universe.

Maryse: OMG I CRIED AND CRIED during the Host. One of my favorite books ever!!!!!!! I even had to stop in the middle – watched a funny movie – and when I picked it back up, I immediately started sobbing again.

Erin: Meredith, saaaame. The Host was great.

Viola: I agree. …I would rather have more of the Host. I have read that book too many times to count. Just love it.

Meredith: Viola, I’ve read it so many times, I own the hardcover (which I actually bought after borrowing it from a friend for my first 2 read through a and needed my own copy), the paperback (which had the extra scene) AND the kindle (because I wanted to read it and didn’t have either physical version on hand).

Viola: Meredith, yep brilliant.

Heather: I love The Twilight Saga but I have yet to read The Host.

Meredith: Heather, OMG GO READ IT!!!! You will not be sorry. Maryse linked her review up above and it’s spot on. It does start slow but it’s like a slow burn love story. Takes a minute to get there but once you are it’s perfection. I remember I had raved about to both my sisters and when they were reading it they both texted being like when does this pick up. I told both to just keep going and when they got to the end they understood why I loved it so much. I promise you won’t be disappointed!!

The Lego Ninjago Movie Spoiler full Review

Table of Contents: Personal Background, Review, crush/love letter, Ambivalent, Things I wish they: expanded on, had, had done, Irritated slightly by, kept in, noticed. The things I enjoyed: thought clever, funny, lessons, liked, tugging on Heart Strings, Fun observations.

Background I’m not part of the Ninjago show fandom (though I have seen spitbrix’s & tannerfishies’s videos on the subject). I just saw the 1st TLNM trailer on May 21st & have been intrigued ever since & somewhat crushing on Lloyd Garmadon for 4 months. My crush kind of died yesterday, after I’d seen the film twice. Why? read on to find that out, & what I thought of the film in general.

Review If I were to give this film a letter grade it’d be a C, not an A as it didn’t do everything right, not a B as it didn’t have only a few missteps, but not a F because I don’t think the film failed so badly as to warrant that grade, or a D for barely passing.

No the final grade I’m giving this film is C for average, not extremely good or extremely bad, just in the middle, maybe somewhat forgettable to general audiences. To me at least this film causes me enough pain to want to forget it sometimes.

When this film lands it lands well, the heart of the story is well executed, when it doesn’t stick the landing it drags the score/grade down, but not enough to ruin 100% the film/or my experience of it.

Sure I came out of the film feeling mainly disappointed, I had spent around 3 hours with the film, & $15.59 for my 2nd viewing, but just because it disappointed me doesn’t mean I want other people to not see it, or for this film to bomb at the box office, as I’d like the Lego aesthetic to still be present on the big screen, & would like Lego to do well on future films advertising in house brands.

In crush terms, yo Lloyd the makers of the film set up a great profile (marketing) for you, yet the “date” I went on with you showed that you weren’t as great as your profile set you up to be. The allure, intrigue, mystery I felt for you made me want to get to know you, & your story was wanting. The charm you showcased in trailers also seem to have been lost/cut out in your film. (I had hoped that your film would make me fall for you more, that the time I spent obsessing over you wasn’t wasted, that you as a whole would be worthy of my attention when I finally got to see your story.) I suppose 1 sad irony of this situation is that I wasn’t able to take my owned/your representative minifig to see you on the big screen on the day of your film’s premiere.

& Yet your platonic chemistry with your dad, your desperation in wanting to fill that dad shaped hole in your life, & you working through your mixed emotions on your dad was what saved your film for me.

In short you weren’t a horrible date, but you weren’t the best you could have been either. Like your mom who expected the best of your dad, & her wanting the best for you, I too expected the best showing from you, which I didn’t get, but I still do want the best for you despite that disappointment, just maybe not with me in whatever possible futures still exist.

The rest of this post will be a list of either emotions, followed by what parts of the film invoked that emotion in me, or things I wish the film had done, & maybe not done or likes & dislikes.

Ambivalent: I’m not sure this film should get a sequel. I’m also unsure about recommending this film.

Expanding on Lloyd being bullied. Dorling Kindersley hereby abbreviated to DK’s Essential Guide memorably detailed the harassment Lloyd faced in school, producing a spirited protective response among fans, the book also generated sympathy for Lloyd in me, but that sympathy really had nowhere to go in the film.

Kate Howard’s adaptation of the film into the jr novel did flesh this issue out as well, 1 memorable exchange being Kai offering a hug out the anxiety/stress thing, + articulating that Lloyd was finding it tougher to cope with the ostracization.

Things I wish they:

Expanded on Koko’s backstory. The team’s camaraderie.

Had: More Martial Arts. For a martial arts film, this film has a surprising lack of it. Only showcase of martial arts moves I recall is Lord Garmadon vs Wu, & slightly during Garmadon’s 2nd attack, with Wu beating up mooks while Lloyd steals the Ultimate Weapon, hell Wu gets most close quarters combat scenes! Only scene involving other people were when the ninjas were fighting Garmadon’s many fired generals, & that scene was too brief. The ninjas return to the city after Garmadon steals the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon is more of a showcase of each ninja’s individual elemental powers, not martial arts. The Ninja Formation Featurette set up my expectations to be high, I’m disappointed at the result. (especially considering I had forbidden kingdom on the brain when I went to see the film.)

When DK’s Essential Guide bought up the ninjas relying too much on their mechs, I didn’t know the issue would extend to the majority of action/fight scenes in the film.

I really wish they had kept in that scene with Lloyd & the baby which they showcased in Trailer 1 + Outtakes, especially what they had in outtakes! That showed good physical comedy reminiscent of Jackie Chan’s old work. At least we would have 1 ninja having time to adequately showcase their martial abilities/skills.

More time, really felt like film was too short to do all it could have.

Had done: Had the ninjas use their personal weapons. DK’s Essential Guide as well as the 1st time we saw the ninja in Trailer 1, hyped me up for that.

Instead both above issues/scenes are kept to the 1st few scenes of Good Morning Ninjago.

Speaking of the other ninja, while I expected this film to lean more to Lloyd + friends, instead of being a true ensemble piece, & expecting not to be disappointed with that, I am surprisingly sad about the other ninjas not each getting much time to shine. Hell if I hadn’t read the Essential Guide or seen the Behind the Bricks Featurette, I likely would have no or very little sense of their personalities.

A more personal beef was I wish they could have showcase Lloyd’s dragon mech more. It hurt when the mechs got totaled by Meowthra, but it didn’t hurt as much as it could have. Wish the film could have shown us the Ninja 1st debuting the mechs, then montage the ensuing status quo of ninja mechs beat garmadon, that would have made it really hit home when the mechs weren’t able to beat the Garma Mecha Man, signifying a change of the status quo in Lord Garmadon’s favor, & have the pain of the mechs being lost hurt that much more when Meowthra totals them.

Like Ghost in the Shell Have a montage of the city to get to know the place, Lloyd parkouring home after the 1st day isn’t enough, all that have 1 or all of the Ninja be able to take a moment & just appreciate their city, find it beautiful, like that mind controlled garbage guy did vs the Major in her invisibility suit.

Dorling Kindersley hereby abbreviated to DK’s Essential Guide + The Making of the Movie excerpts made me really interested in Ninjago City, just a shame we didn’t get to explore it more.

DK’s Essential Guide actually set up a lot of things that wasn’t in the film. Like each member of the team getting an arc, & using their preferred weapons in hand to hand combat, their personalities, detailing Lloyd being bullied, Garmadon’s army, really expected that new General #1 who tore off Lloyd’s arm to play a bigger part, like she took over the Shark Army ala Starscream when Garmadon left to track Wu, giant stone dog guards that would guard the Ultimate Ultimate weapon temple, & help Jay complete his arc. Maybe the ninjas using a Tornado of Creation to rebuild the city after Meowthra’s destruction. Maybe more expansion on Lloyd/The team all being Master Builders. The DK & Lloyd’s Scholastic book give the impression that Lloyd designed & built the teams’ mechs himself.

Irritated slightly by: the use of hard knock life. the Ultimate Weapon random montages.

Kept in maybe trailer 2’s going back to roots, & what Lloyd says before his arm is torn off, I haven’t felt this good in a long time, & Lloyd’s yeah but I feel like there’s more to Garmadon that I need to know.

What I Noticed: the film is more consistently heartwarming, but the marketing was more consistently charming, funny.

Some shots were definitely made to be seen in 3d, especially some in the mech battle in Garmadon’s 1st attack, I saw the film in digital.

eyeofthewolfe, I really envy that you’re 1 of the people who aren’t feeling like me, I want to be part of this in-group of yours. But ultimately I’m not, hope you’ll still accept my point of view as valid, & that we can continue to talk while still respectfully disagreeing with how we each see the film.

Since I want to end on a good/happy note.

What I thought was Clever took my 2nd viewing to recognize the parallels between each Lloyd/Dad scene + the concept of catch, granted I like they were more subtle with it in the Behind the Bricks featurette.

The Inner Piece metaphor, which I should have also taken literally considering this is a lego film.

The 6 or so cut shot of the effect of Lloyd’s Dragon Mech Missile Massacre.

Some of what those poor fired generals said to Lord Garamdon when he asked for suggestions.

Despite being somewhat irritated by not calling it, all said fired generals banding together to become antagonists.

Wu’s lines about defying the [The Mentor Dies] trope.

Funny some of what Garmadon does during that GMA style montage & other attacks on the city.

Apparently Wu’s like Sun Wukong’s master Old Boy in the odd birth department.

Lessons learning to see things from a different point of view.

Learning to rely on something else besides tech.

Liked the score, voice acting.

Tugging on Heart Strings nearly every scene with Lloyd & his dad whether bickering or bonding. The scores A Wish & A Ruined City, Arm Popping Flying Lesson, The Lady Iron Dragon, Here Kitty Kitty, Big Hug.

& the Koko/Lloyd scenes.

Lloyd, Misako, Nya teaching the fired generals new life skills.

Fun facts 1st viewing 1 kid I presume gasping in outrage when the Kid referred to Lloyd as just a kid.

2nd viewing really like some kids commentary on how Wu couldn’t die & other show references. Wish I could recall what jokes got the most laughs though.

Lloyd really reminded me of RWBY’s S2 Blake in worrying bout what the antagonist was up to, which the vol 5 theatrical showing was advertised in the theater I was seeing the film in.

That & he was a nice mix of Atla’s Zuko/Luke Skywalker in the dad issues department, although Lloyd/Wu’s bond more reminiscent of Zuko/Iroh.

Maybe another comparison could be made between this film’s familal relationship & Despicable Me.
