What's your routine when you go to write?

oof. the problem is, most of my writing i do at work. i have a boring desk job that also can get a little hectic when we get a lot of people coming in at once, so i really don't have much of a routine. i have a little notebook that i write in at the desk, and on the weekends, i'll type up what i wrote and make some edits as i go. saturdays at work are usually slow enough that i can write on my phone. when i go to bed, i'll try to do some writing on my phone while i wait for my medications to kick in. i got into working on the sucktember prompts at this time, which is why i was finally able to get unstuck from the one i was on and complete them. but yeah, no routine, only chaos and stealing time to write where i can.

ooooooh. i literally ordered a custom scent for ryn from siren song elixirs since they had the perfect notes for her! jammy rose petals, crushed pistachios, cardamom and vanilla-infused almond milk. will actually review it once it arrives! from other scents i own, she'd wear the OG delina, the lychee + rose combo is so her. also les courtisanes by alkemia, the fruity top notes and slightly spicy, woody base suit her. now rolan... i know exactly what he would wear and it is 100% without a doubt miskatonic university by bpal (irish coffee, dusty tomes and polished oakwood)!

"Are you hungover?"

Jaheira woke up with her head pounding like a drum being thumped by an overeager bard. Every noise, every ray of light filtering through the tent, felt like an assault on her senses. She groaned, rubbing her temples, wishing the Oak Father himself could just come down and pluck this hangover from her brain.

Her mouth tasted like she’d swallowed a mixture of sand and regret. Jaheira winced, her tongue thick as she smacked her lips, trying to will some moisture back into her parched mouth. She squinted at the wine bottle lying beside her bedroll — empty, of course — and cursed herself for not stopping after the first... or second... or fifth...

Slowly, she sat up, the world spinning in that lovely, nauseating way only a hangover could induce. Her hair, usually kept at least somewhat tidy, had turned into a wild tangle that she absently shoved back from her face. She glanced down at her clothes, still fully dressed from last night’s festivities, bits of grass clinging to her tunic.

Great.

Her stomach gurgled ominously, and Jaheira pressed a hand to it, trying to decide if she needed food or to throw up. Both, probably. She blinked slowly, her brain sluggishly catching up to her surroundings.

“Never again... until the next time.” She muttered under her breath.

With a deep breath and the willpower of someone who has faced death more times than she could count, Jaheira stood up — or tried to. Her legs wobbled, and she quickly leaned against the nearest tree. "Silvanus give me strength," she whispered to herself, rubbing her eyes with a tired grin.

"Are you hungover?"

The question came from... Somewhere... But she recognized Ryn's voice. Jaheira blinked slowly, her eyes half-lidded as she turned to face the question. She squinted, and after a moment, she let out a tired chuckle, one hand pressed to her throbbing temple.

“Hangover?” she repeated, voice raspy. “No, no... I’m just quietly dying from poor life decisions. It happens a lot when you're old." She gave a weak grin. "But don't worry, I’ll be fine — once the ground stops spinning, and the sun decides to be less... aggressive.”

Jaheira staggered a bit as she tried to walk, her feet dragging slightly, as if the earth itself had grown heavier.

“I just… need my pouch of herbs,” she mumbled, blinking through the haze. “There’s everything I need in there. Hangover remedy, headache cure… maybe something to stop me from embarrassing myself further.” She let out a huff, though it was hard to tell if it was more frustration or desperation. "Once I find it, I’ll be a new woman. Well, a new elder woman."

Auberon/Aubera & Kiran: Identity crisis to the nth degree, protective and loyal meet unaware-of-human-norms fae, Kiran and MC kinda scare Aub and they find that Very Attractive

Morgan & Kiran: Sap fest 5000, double the identity crisis, that one meme where they’re both jumping in front of each other trying to take a bullet for the other, huge biting kink

Cam & Kiran: Friends to enemies to lovers (x2!!), Cam is Deeply Concerned, ultimately both very protective and loyal but they butt heads sometimes because they have different views/methods, tragic irony

Cam & Morgan: Unintentional betrayal (x2!!), Cam is once again Deeply Concerned, monster x human, difficult reconciliation, coming to terms with past losses (not just people)

Ryn & Kendall: Two very different kinds of trauma mixing in explosive ways, doesn’t realize they’re in love with the other two meets not only realizes but knows whole heartedly that they’d die for the other two

The Polycule (Kiran, Morgan, and Cam): Nightmare angst, one big mess of not knowing what the fuck is going on, there are two brain cells in this group and Kiran has both (occasionally lends one to MC), all very loyal at their core and they miss each other desperately but circumstances make it hard to reconcile

it def feels like they are not ready for this dkfjskdf the stakes are SO high for a level 8 party idk wtf they're gonna do. because ludinus HAS to be there right? it's like his big day or whatever. but the guy is an archmage which does not instill confidence

i'm not tooooo scared bc i trust matt to create a balanced encounter (or a meaningfully imbalanced one), but i am rly curious to see what he decides to do w keyleth and the ashari. it feels v unlikely to me that she'll be part of the initiative order, but if they go head-to-head with otohan AND ludinus then maybe she has to be...but wouldn't that just turn into "hey watch the archdruid and archmage fight each other and we'll deal with the smaller fish"?? like that doesn't feel great either. on the other hand ira feels like he'll probably be part of the initiative order and we honestly haven't seen the vast majority of his abilities yet, so he could be a game-changer in some unexpected ways. idk! but i'm sure matt has come up with at least one, if not several, options for how it could go so i'm excited!!
