Touch the Sky directly contrasts the Sky is Falling! Which! Is! An Oz song!!!!!
Touch the Sky is about Oscar finally feeling like himself!!!
Today, I change my place in history / Today, I'm gonna start a brand new life
āIām not upset that you left. Iām upset you came back.ā
I'm soarin' like I never have before / Flying self-assured and free / And I somehow feel I finally feel like me
āI started to feel like me. Not the same me I was before all of this, but the me I always wanted to be. I felt like I was actually part of the team.ā
I looked in the mirror and I gotta say / It's been a long, long time since I felt this way / Right now, I'm just a bit surprised / 'Cause I feel just fine and I might just touch the sky
āOur two souls are still on the inevitable path to becoming oneā¦ā
My heart's electric, racing endlessly / Feeling like the stars have all aligned / Illuminate the darkness that was blinding me / Now I'm positive that it's my time to shine
I will explode, you'll see me rise / You may not even recognize / I just can't wait for this reveal
Exploring, now I've opened up a door / Finding so much more in me / When I look inside, I'm liking what I see
I'm climbing higher with the past behind me / Heights like I never dreamed / Finally learned I need to do it my way / Now I see what I can be / When I trust in me, I'm free
āButā¦I donāt want that.ā
āNeither do Iā¦ā
Fucking Icarian heights here manā¦.
Want to scream when I think about these two songs and all the implications for Oscarās head space we glimpsed in the animatic rt released before they shuttered the doors
[āAddendum re Sky is Falling -> itās Oz Catastrophizing]
Touch the Sky is an Oscar song you canāt change my mind

The thing that amuses me about BumbleBY discourse is that RWBY, as a show, is very not subtle about the direction it is taking these two. It is blindingly obvious that this is the direction that the show is going in from V3C11 at the absolute latest.
The writers are not subtle about it. The voice actors certainly aren't subtle about it. The soundtrack isn't subtle about it, Jeff and Casey fed us more in V4 than the show itself did. The series branched out into manga and comics and a spinoff anime and they were also very not subtle about it. The creator himself was not subtle about it.
The show has been pointing more and more arrows at a giant neon sign saying "Blake and Yang are girlfriends!" since it started.
And yet somehow, people still miss that. For whatever reason, people manage to be completely blindsided by a subplot that the show was building for nine seasons and several spinoffs.
If you did somehow watch Burning the Candle, Heroes and Monsters, and Downfall and didn't see where things were going, if you did listen to Wings, Armed and Ready, and All That Matters and didn't realise that these characters were meant to be in love, then either your media literacy is so awful that you should really do some more reading, or you got that take from a Youtuber who doesn't know what the fuck they're talking about and you need to start forming your own takes rather than waiting for Youtubers to give them to you.
#This might come across as a little mean#But honestly#The show isn't being clever about it#It's really fucking obvious#And if you missed it#you're either trying to miss it or you're being dense#RWBY#BumbleBY

2. Rank the soundtracks!
Ugh, the volumes arenāt on Spotify at this time so I canāt check the playlists easily. Sorry for the delayed answer!Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā
Volume 4 is probably at the top, followed by Volume 5. 6 is very close behind. 2 and 3 have the same issue in that they are a mix of absolute bangers and one or two songs I donāt care for. 7, 8, and 9 are very solid but I havenāt listened to the whole thing recently. I do like a lot of songs from them, but I havenāt added any songs aside from āThe Sky is Fallingā to my personal RWBY playlist.
Volume 1 soundtrack is great because of all the character songs, but I could never vibe with Gold or Wings. Also no other soundtrack remixes songs that also debuted on it. Which, I understand from a āback thenā POV since they didnāt know how big this show was going to get, also I understand the Black and Yellow trailers needed full songs of their new music since most of their trailers were dialogue. The original character songs still go hard. Iām placing this soundtrack in an honorary āYouāre the reason this show got bigā category, even though I donāt listen to half of it nowadays.
14. Favorite background character design?
Trifa (the spider Faunus that attempted to restrain Blake in v5) has a simple but very cool design, and I love to see the creative integration of animal traits in this show.
For an unnamed character, thereās this mom and kid in Mantle with lynx ears and I LOVE their design despite how simple it is. Justice for Lynx Mom.
19. Favorite Weiss ship?
I donāt think I have any OTPs for Weiss, now that I think about it. I like her as part of Frosen Steel or Beeās Schnees, but more as a āRuby (or Yang) has 2 handsā situation, and I doubt it would ever be canon. And her celebrity crush on Pyrrha by that same token, which is probably my favorite wlw Weiss ship (Whiterose is very cute too, but I could never get into it). Funny enough, I think Volume 9 has warmed me up to Whiteknight, which was thoroughly dismissed at the start of the show. Itās kinda neat to look at it as a āright person wrong timeā situation, and now that theyāve changed so much, they could be a good partner to each other. Itās possible she wonāt be romantically involved with anyone by the end of the show, and thatās good too.

FOREVER FALL.
a collection of dialogue prompts containing lyrics from volumes 1-8 of the rwby soundtrack. part one.
i may fall.
dry your eyes now, baby.
broken wings won't hold you down.
now it's cold without you here.
it's like winter lasts all year.
so come and join me in my castle.
close your eyes now, time for dreams.
death is never what it seems.
sad to say, i'm your bad luck charm.
but i know that when i'm with you, i'm at home.
feeling like a brand new day.
don't fear demise.
black out the sky.
i'll be your hero.
just hold on.
no time to die.
i'm awake.
i'm the one.
i'll follow you like morning follows night.
come at me, and you'll see i'm more than meets the eye.
i burn.
the sky is falling.
it's my turn.
i'm shattering the mirror that kept me split in pieces.
this is where i'll start.
i will not surrender.
shame that it took so long to rescue me.
there's a light that shines, and its power is mine.
though our body's weak and breakable, the spirit is indomitable.
i'd understand if you'd rather not talk about this.
it's time to make up your mind.
take my hand, 'cause you and i are gonna shine.
what am i supposed to do, just sit there and not fall in love with you?
if love is blind, how do i make you see me?

Heya! What would you say your favorite rwby songs are from the rwby soundtrack? Hope you're having a good day!
ooooooooooh... I'm going to spend entirely too much time on this ask, but I don't care because it's going to be fun. I'll give myself two favorites from each Volume, I think? So I don't ramble on for-fucking-ever. Onwards!
(Also consider every intro song as one of my favorites as well, because it's true.)
Volume 1:
I May Fall. The amount of foreshadowing in this song is insane and the fact that it's in the v1 soundtrack is laughable. Notably, it of course does have a hopeful message, but man... they had no idea what was comin', huh?
Red Like Rose, Pt. 2. Of course. The first little hint we see of especially Ruby's flawed coping mechanisms, and to have a song about Summer, like, ten years before she actually appears in the show is insane. It's a banger, and the lyrics "I made a sacrifice but forced a bigger sacrifice on you" is just!!!!!!! You know?
(Runner-up: Wings. You cannot convince me it's not the very first Bumbleby song.)
Volume 2:
Die. I guess I just really like dark songs from the earlier volumes; this one's just fun, and it does well to set up the Bad Times (tm) that are coming with v3. If you thought everything was fine and happy during the first two volumes, just check out the soundtrack. It didn't just come out of nowhere.
Sacrifice. Continuing on with the theme, I guess. I'm also a known Cinder Fan, so this as part of her theme is just... really, really cool. Again, some serious foreshadowing. The chorus for this one is really good; just again a super fun song to listen to.
(Runner-up: Boop. Banger.)
Volume 3:
It's My Turn. Fav Weiss song, maybe? Certainly one of the best ones. Sets the stage for Weiss' feelings considering her family that comes up in this volume and the next ones, and it helps that this song plays during the first arena fight with Team RWBY, which is a bomb-ass scene.
Divide. PEAK villain song, and I mean peak victorious villain song. The goal to split up the protagonists isn't exactly a rare thing, but the fact that it works... this entire song is just a kick to the face; they've already lost, and now they're having to hear about it. Divide them, and that's already happened. It's a fucking fantastic song. One of my favorites overall, I think, not just from v3.
(Runner-up: Mirror, Mirror, Pt. 2. Weiss gets a lot of great ones.)
Volume 4:
Like Morning Follows Night. Bit of an expected choice, probably, but this song is just too damn good. I really love the argument in the beginning between Blake and Sun, and it's just... god, it's good. Blake songs are always incredible.
Armed and Ready. I mean, of course. Yang's Getting Back Up moment, Bees crumbs, the incredible way the tone of this one changes from fear to determination?? Fantastic. Also, the title being a pun is just... yeah. It's so good.
(Runner-up: Bmblb, because of course. Also, holy fuck this volume was hard. V4's soundtrack is stacked.)
Volume 5:
Smile. Ilia! Love Ilia. Love this song. It has one of my favorite rhythms in RWBY, and man, the amount of character backstory that we get from it is crazy. It's not a backstory you really need to know if you don't listen, but it's nice to hear nonetheless. Ilia beloved <3
This Time. Like I said: Blake songs are always incredible. Blake and her papa!!! Making a better world for the Faunus!!! Just really love the implications of this song, of Ghira and Blake side-by-side as they rally the rest of Menagerie. Really cool.
(Runner up: All That Matters. The yearning, my god. Yang is down bad and she's going to make it everyone else's problem.)
Volume 6:
Miracle. A lingering darkness from v5; they're not at all in a great place by the beginning of v6, but they're still fighting! Another one of my actual favorites overall, it's just a banger.
Nevermore. A Blake and Yang duet that explicitly details how they're feeling when they stab Adam??? That's one of the best concepts I've ever heard, and it's insane. This one is also a bit nostalgic; I watched RWBY after v6 stopped airing but before the soundtrack had dropped, and I specifically remember jamming out to Nevermore the day it was released. Peak romance, actually.
(Runner-up: Indomitable. Still makes me want to cry. Singlehandedly one of the most powerful songs, I think.)
Volume 7:
Touch the Sky. Blake song!! Blake song where she's happy! Blake song where she talks about finally feeling like herself again!!! What the fuck!!!! This one gets me so emotional every time. She's healed.
War. Complete opposite vibes of the last, but still cool as hell. The fact that they got four different voices in this one to play as RWBY is incredible, and my god is it a banger. Betrayal vibes, obviously, but like, looking down your nose at the person who turned their back on you. Super cool.
(Runner-up: Brand New Day. Another happy one!! God... we had no idea how good v7 was being to us.)
Volume 8:
Treasure. Oh, you thought v5's All That Matters was peak yearning? You were wrong! Blake's pining knocks Yang's out of the park, especially considering they're apart in this volume for like, three days maximum. Blake is in love and she's going to make it everyone else's (Weiss') problem.
Friend. I mean... what can I say about this song? RWBY's not exactly short on "mourning this person" music, but the fact that this one is explicitly cheery... it's just. Wow. It's Penny in a nutshell, and while it's still devastating, it's also, like. Celebrating her life. Celebrating what she did get to have, rather than grieving that she won't get to have more. It's really, really good, and the song itself is fantastic.
(Runner-up: Be Strong and Hit Stuff. Nora themes! Emerald themes! And what a catchy chorus!)
Overall, thanks for this ask, I had way too much fun with it. Sorry for how long it got lmfao, I have Opinions about this show. I don't think there's a single song I actively dislike, though of course I've got my less favorites. Hope you enjoyed my madness :)

rwby v9 soundtrack real?
rwby v9 soundtrack real good that's what
individual first listen reactions below
Checkmate did not go where I thought it would go but i'm head bopping anyway. electro swing jazz good. rwby should have more jazz songs. (insert noun here) should have more jazz songs. also casey rap???
Chatterbox's contrast between the soft and hard parts really pops out. possibly a little too much tbh, but that's personal preference. also those dirty, DIRTY guitar riffs at 1:50 and 3:38. god.
Worthy being a pure vocal song for a full minute before transforming into a lovely ballad is. yes. fun fact I'm pretty sure Casey rerecorded the secondary vocals of the part that played in show. speaking of which I can't fucking believe that Casey is the voice behind both parts. fucking legend. *EDIT: Casey isn't the vocalist for both parts, this got changed from the part in the show*
Trapdoor did not start the way I thought it would, but those rhythmic pauses under Casey's vocals are SO tasty. Then it changes to the syncopated staccato vocals and then the RIFFS. the ENDING. man. Probably my favorite.
Quiet starting with a ticking clock to show it's Jaune's song (actually his first solo one, somehow) is great storytelling. It also lives up to the name, being the softer song this volume. I'd bet if Casey ever made a lofi remix of an existing song it would be amazing. *this was written before I noticed Lofi Wings*
Guide My Way kinda gives off the same vibes as Inside, and I wouldn't be surprised if there's a leitmotif in there somewhere *spoiler alert. there was.* speaking of leitmotifs, that fucking transition to Red Like Roses 1 is fucking amazing. the transition to the rest of the song too. the rhythms, the guitars... then the bridge. "I'm what inspired the fairy tale" is such a raw line in the context of RWBY "everything is an allusion" then you get hit over the head by GUITARRRRRRR SOLOOOOOOO ft. a little tidbit of Inside. trapdoor has been dethroned as the best song of the volume.
*gets smacked by a divine dodgeball* Lofi Wings is a great remix. groovy and somft.
#rwby#rwby v9#rwby ost#casey lee williams#is a goddess but what else is new#waiting for it to show up on itunes to buy it#anyway I know what I'm listening to for the next forever

Spreading sky! Hero gals! Hirogaru Sky! Pretty Cure! This is a... very exciting prospect, of course. Not only is it the 20th series and very close to the franchise's 20th anniversary, but we're jostling a lot of franchise traditions! Blue non-human leader, a full-time male Cure, an (entirely unambiguous) adult!
New town, new me. That also means a new tag!
"Hop! Step! Jump! Hero Gals Dream of the Everlasting Sky!"
Y'know, filter that out if you wanna.
Man, imagine liveblogging a PreCure series on time lmao
Spoilers, I guess...
-The sky!
-Skyloft?
-Oh wow, even got giant birds.
-There's Sora-chan. I'll give you a dumb nickname later,
-Skyland Castle!
-Wonder if we'll run into Spyro the Dragon?
-Maybe if we were on a Nintendo console we'd meet Bowser and Donkey Kong.
-Lotsa cute borbs on Skyland, huh?
-Subarashii~! Hapii Basudei~!
-Princess El. You are... a very interestingly designed baby, I'd say.
-How old are you, a year?
-Oh look it's Bebop from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. That's neat.
-Kabaton.
-Gonna bomb a fuckin' baby! Okay!
-"Speed up."
-Don't pay that bird enough for this, Sora-chan.
-It's Hero time!
-Oh shit.
-I enjoyed DePaPre's OP an awful lot, but this
-This is a banger right out the gate.
-Gives me very high hopes for the rest of the soundtrack.
-Oh shit, Futari wa callback.
-Ah, even got a notebook opening for the title card, that's cute.
-P i g
-The 7th Chocobo Cavalry has come rushing in.
-Kabaton-ton?
-Very nimble for a big fella, huh?
-In comes Sora-san.
-Hot damn, this girl's must've done mocap for Mirror's Edge.
-Ain't no stopping this dude.
-Ready... Go!
-"I am the girl from the sky! Of the clear sky clan!"
-
-REALLY now, Toei?
-I ain't even gonna dignify that with a response, I'm just gonna move on with my life.
-Dropped the baby.
-Going into strange holes is generally not advised until you're far older, Sora.
-Hydrogen baby.
-Very cute hydrogen baby, might I say.
-Where we at?
-Drop TWO babies at once!
-Pretty Holic~! They sell stationery too~!
-Hurtling at the terminal velocity of... 2 miles an hour.
-That's a car, those're rolling death machines.
-That's Pretty Holic lipstick, that's what we call a "uniting thread".
-"WHY ARE THESE BIRDS SO TINY?!"
-Mashiro-chan, gotcha.
-Sorashido~!
-"My notebook~!"
-Ahhhh, Skyland script.
-Oh god, he's back.
-Underground!
-Ranborg!
-C
-CureTube.
-Curesta. CureTube.
-Gonna write up my fanfic ideas on my CurePad in Pretty Docs, then maybe post 'em up on Cureblr.
-Using the Octagon-washing-machine to dry Octagon-coats on Octagon-hangers.
-"Mashiro-san! Protect Hydrogen Baby with your life."
-"Noooooo pleeease!"
-Smoked out.
-Hot damn, these're some nice angles.
-"Gimme that baby, extra!"
-A fated duel!
-Oh, he went and done it now.
-Tore up her dreams right in front of her.
-Precuuuuuure!
-It's Hero Time!
-Sky mirage! Tone connect!
-Hirogaru Change! Sky!
-Hop! Step! Jump! Clearly she takes inspiration from Ichika Usami.
-Love the side cape.
-Blue sky soaring to infinity! Cure Sky!
-Sora Harewataru... that is, Cure Sky is our hero for this year. She fights for truth, justice, and a better tomorrow!
-She's not quite flying yet. But she is falling with style.
-That's some impact!
-Hirogaru Sky Punch!
-Dig in peace once more.
-You're safe now, citizen!
-Oh, ED time.
-Don't worry Mashiro-chan, you'll get to be Cure Prism in, say... an episode or two? You're voiced by Rabirin, so your odds are pretty good. There's the lad, Cure Wing, voiced by Don Murasame. And Butterfly-oneesan, I haven't actually heard of Ayaka Nanase till yesterday.
-I love the colored pencil aesthetic, I feel seen.
-Very nice ED, very cute.
-Gotta keep the kid safe.
-I've actually been considering a few of options for my unique liveblog tag.
-"I would fly into the sun if that would keep our dream alive" is fitting, but is a bit... loaded a reference for me to make as a RWBY fan.
-I've considered using the lyrics of the Jetman theme or even some old Superman standards, but I thought those'd be a little obvious.
-My Hero Academia and One Punch Man references were considered, of course, but were discarded.
-I reckon what I chose gets the point across well enough, yeah?
-Kinda newspaper headline-y too, as a bonus.
-Well, you know where to find me for next time! See you on the flip side, citizens!

RWBY Volume 9 soundtrack song ranks
So I finally feel like I've put enough listens in to properly rank the songs on the Volume 9 soundtrack. Took a bit of extra time, not because I couldn't listen to it but because I found my initial impressions crumbling on repeat listens and therefore felt I needed more time to see where things shook out. This is just the original songs so no score tracks or the lofi wings.
Chatterbox - I can't stop talking about how awesome this song is, just such wonderfully sinister first verse and the pre-chorus kicks things up wonderfully setting the up the catchy as hell chorus. Martin's Guitar work is also great and evocative. All that being said it did just barely edge out.
Trapdoor - The funky little electronic lead in is so good and the may the chorus bounces along so wonderfully disguise how absolutely devastating emotionally this song is. This is really driven home by the outro which also brings some of the electronic vibes back after the rock centric middle. Just so easy to fall down the rabbit hole listening to this one.
Inside - Another banger of any opening and the fact it's only #3 is just a testament to how much I love the top 2. Really a great idea for what Casey and Martin have in store, it still sounds RWBY but has some of the prog elements from OK Goodnight (Casey's current band and Martins former bands) which I honestly think help give this volume it's own vibe musically and takes you into it's heart.
Checkmate - Love the jazzy feel of this song, the horn elements (courtesy of Zac Zinger) are great and Casey's vocals and the rhythm of the song have such a fun feeling that it's game set match.
Worthy - I'll be honest first couple listens the vocal elements acting as music over the top of the sung parts was not working for me, but slowly they gained foothold and the wonderful emotions took over so guess in the end the song was like it's title. I also think Ariyel was great, her parts gave me a Christina Perri vibe and I really like the interplay between her and Casey.
Guide My Way - I mean this song is really good a bit slow to start but the moment the melody of Red Like Roses Kicks in the song takes it to another gear, plus the "I'm what inspired the fairy tale line", really helps lead you along in the song. Note this is #6 not because it's not a banger but because of how god damned amazing this album is.
The Edge - A solid ending track it's laid back vibe at the beginning and soaring to the ending is very fitting vibe fore album but it can't edge out the tunes prior to it.
Quiet - I did the clock theme and it ticks off some boxes but it's easily the least interesting track on the album to me, again not bad just not necessarily my jam, just doesn't quiet do it for me.
Well if we can #greenlightvolume10 I sure hope Casey and Martin get to keep making the music because they knocked it out of the park. No shot at Jeff Williams but I love the new influences that they brought in, again it still sounds fitting to RWBY but with a new energy.

Yang definitely sings Wings
Historically the fndm has generally accepted that Wings is a Weiss/Blake song and while Iāve always harbored reservations about this interpretation (see point 1), Volume 5 has erased any doubt that itās Yang/Blake. Thereās 3 main points why.
Wings is a very nurturing song. The singer is very sweetly and softly telling Blake that itās alright, sheās good. Sheās being very understanding and sympathetic towards her. Weiss is simply not like this in V1. Sheās still quite cold, and this song just makes no sense from her POV because itās not something sheād say. I mean, compare it to what Weiss actually says: āI donāt care!ā¦ I donāt want to hear it.ā Itās nowhere near the vibe this song is all about. Meanwhile Yang is the very soul of nurturing and understanding as she literally raised Ruby and from the get go tells Weiss āI think we should hear her side of the story before we jump to any conclusions.ā Gold reinforces that and honestly has a similar theme to Wings: āIām here for you, itās alright.ā
An instrumental of Wings plays in V5C13 when Blake and Yang first meet eyes.
āThought that I could pull you from the shadows / Maybe help you find your wings and flyā This line from All That Matters is a direct reference to two Blake songs, From Shadows and Wings. Itās literally saying āI thought I could help you with the thing that the singer in Wings talks about helping you with.ā And itās sung by Yang.

okay so i had seen some posts a while ago hypothesizing thatĀ āwingsā was a bees song and i had kinda dismissed them as overreaching - i mean, obviously the song is sung to blake, but the singer is unclear and if anyone, it would seem to lean toward weiss right?
but there are two things in the volume 5 soundtrack that have me rethinking my position.
1) from the second verse ofĀ āall that mattersā:Ā Ā
thought that i could pull you from the shadows maybe help you find your wings and fly
āfrom the shadowsā obviously references from shadows, andĀ āfind your wings and flyā similarly references wings -
Broken wings won't hold you down. You'll take flight soon, baby.
2) from one of the score tracks,Ā āTake This Fight Outside.ā itās from 5x13.
thereās a triumphant bit ofĀ āthis life is mineā and then it suddenly gets soft and slow and you can hear just the barest bit of wings that roughly corresponds withĀ āone life / is not a long timeā
well. the triumphant this life is mine is when the camera pulls back to show off weissā huge queen lancer summon, and when it gets quiet is when everyone sees blake, and the actual bit of wings we hear is while blake and yang have their moment.
https://youtu.be/5A5hRP1Hkbg?t=8m22sĀ listen very carefully to the background music.
āoneā (ruby and yang stare) ālifeā (the camera switches to over blakeās shoulder. thereās a pause.) āis not a long timeā starts with blake sayingĀ āyang?ā and ends while yang is staring at her. itās kind of hard to hear because blake speaks over part of it, but if youāre listening for it youāll hear it, and if you listen to it on the soundtrack youāll definitely hear it.
so. i think that even if wings wasnāt originally a bees track, itās been retroactively claimed to be used as a bees theme.Ā
