In my absence from this site over the last few weeks, I totally forgot that I had meant to post these pictures from something new I’ve been trying - astrophotography! (Completely inspired by playing Mass Effect 😉). The first image was taken July 27/19, and the other two were taken on August 4/19.

TMI Tuesday for Mimi & Uriek - SFW, NSFS whatever you want to talk about for these two!

Mimi first meets Uriek when he came into the clinic she was filling in for in the sorta town the Wraiths have built on Virmire. She usually works with Mordin’s nephew, Ehilu, in his clinic in the military facility, but she is friends with the doctors at the city clinic and was happy to fill in.

Uriek was in a bar fight, or more, he was beaten up outside a bar. He’ll be the first to admit he was an overall shit person in his youth and young adulthood and he did some bad things to get what he wanted (which was usually drugs). That left a lot of grudges that still haunt him, one of those being with a turian dealer that hunted him down to the more seedier of bars. Uriek owed some money and, while he paid it then and there, he was made an example out of and a bit of a victim of the dealer’s anger that he lost a good, high paying customer in Uriek.

Pretty much, Mimi patched him up but tricked him into leaving with her after her shift to go to a coffee shop saying she’d buy him a meal. Though hesitant, he accepted because it’d been a while and, during their meal, she was actually pretty good company. He liked to listen to her talk and treat him like any normal person instead of damaged goods, so he even let her have his number after the meal (to ‘check up’ on him). 

Over time, she’d message him little trivial stuff like ‘hope you’re having a good day’ or ‘I think I found a good turian place we should go to’ and she definitely had a knack for making it less like she was his doctor and more his friend. He softened up to her and when he gained the confidence, even courted her with flowers, presents, and foods he ‘tried’ to cook, but eventually just bought so he didn’t give her food poisoning or anything. She was actually the one to say ‘let’s be a couple’ after he sort of seemed to be lost after what came next after the wooing part.

“Regan Kelly.”

2. Do you know why are you named that?

"Not a damn clue.”

“How the hell is that any of your - ugh, single. Ish.”

4. Have any abilities or powers?

"I’m biotic and damn good with tech - that count?”

5. Stop being a Mary Sue.

“Oh, fuck you.”

“Grey - T like’s to say silver, the dork. Left eyes white tho, since, y’know... blindness does that.”

“Blonde.”

“Mum and Pop were taken by Collectors - no other family to speak of.”

"Cerberus didn’t exactly allow pets, y’know? I’d love a dog, someday. We’ll see if we survive the Reapers, I guess? T, quit it with the looks.”

“Adjutants. Creepy ass motherfucking monsters.”

11. Do you have any activities/hobbies that you like to do?

“Does siccing my drone on people that tick me off count? No? Well, fuck. I like tweaking my omni - installing new tech and trying to get more power out of it. Pissing off T’s pretty fun, too.”

Regan goes quiet for a moment. “...I didn’t think I had, not really. Got into scuffs as a kid, stupid shit every colony kid does, right? And then Cerberus... I thought we were helping. It was a good job, a way out of Terminus - I’m good with tech, I was just setting up security systems, never on the front lines. I didn’t... I didn’t know what they were doing with those things-”

Teegan hums comfortingly, setting a hand on her shoulder. “Wasn’t your fault, Ree.”

“Fucking feels like my fault.”

13. Ever… killed anyone before?

“A couple of Cerberus troopers, once I joined in with the Talons. That’s it - adjutants don’t count.”

14. What kind of animal are you?

"The fuck?? Why would I?? I don’t fucking know - a cat, I guess??? Cause if I could just chill in a corner and be left alone, I would be fucking stoked.”

15. Name your worst habits?

“Perfectionism? With my omni, and my biotics... I’m bad for constantly speccing my visor, actually, trying to make up for the blindness.”

“You also tend to apologize for everything.” Teegan drawls, earning a smack.

“I fucking do not!”

16. Do you look up to anyone at all?

“I mean, Nyreen’s pretty cool - she let me stay with the Talons, and convinced Aria I wasn’t a threat. Shepard’s pretty damn badass, too.”

*noncommital shrug* Bi? Maybe?

“I did, briefly - just as a kid on the colony.”

“Ehhhhh, can’t say I’ve thought about any of that crap, honestly.”

“The fuck? I fucking hope not.”

"Fucking adjutants.” Regan catches a look from Teegan and grumbles, “And... maybe being alone.”

“Always used to be Cerberus standard engineer wear - with a bit more give for my biotics. Now I’ve got Talon armor.”

23. What’s one food that tempts you?

"Coffee counts as food, right?”

24. Am I annoying to you?

“Yes.”

25. Well, it’s still not over!

“Fucking yay.”

26. What class are you (low/middle/high)?

“Gonna say middle class - I hoarded all my paychecks from Cerberus. Once I’m off Omega, I’ll be able to survive for a while, at least.”

"Oi, Teegan! We’re friends, right?”

An amused snort answers her.

“So, one. Kind of.”

28. What are your thoughts on pie?

“Mama’s pie was delicious, when she wasn’t drunk. Pie’s great.”

“Coffee.”

“Wherever it’s quiet and I can be alone.”

Regan silently shoots a glance at the turian sitting behind her, too busy cleaning his rifle to notice. She looks back and rolls her eyes. “Not answering that out loud.”

32. That was a stupid question…

“Uh, yeah.”

33. Would you rather swim in a lake or the ocean?

“I’ve never done either - maybe some day I can convince T to go to a beach with me.”

34. What’s your type?

“Hmmmmmmm nope not answering that. For multiple reasons.”

35. Any fetishes?

"Fuck you.”

36. Camping or outdoors?

“Gonna say outside, never been camping - but outside was safe, back in the old days. Not as much anymore, but... the memories still there.”

Apologies for the lack of presence here. Real life has been crazy busy between work, visiting family, studying for my national licensing exam and keeping up with everyday things. Unfortunately this also means that my fics have been further neglected and are gathering cobwebs in a dusty corner of my computer screen too. Feeling a little bit discouraged about this but the inspiration train has been derailed for a while now - hopefully it will get back on track some day!

Blue!  Has been ever since pre-school.

Not that I can think of.  But I don’t have any bad news either.  I guess that’s good news in itself.

3. What is one thing you hated, but never truly understood, that people do?

People who like to get into my personal space for whatever reason.  Just... why?

4. What is your general idea about people?

I’d like to think people are just trying to live their life with as little drama as possible.

5. Recommend me a song.

I have “Lift Me Up” by Five Finger Death Punch playing in my head as I’m filling this out so... I’ll recommend that. =P

6. Share one of your old-time favourite fics you’ve read.

One of the first fanfics I ever read around the time I starting writing my own was a Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust fic called, “Moth to the Flame” , a prequel fic (prior to the movie, not the book).  Hands down, one of the most beautifully written fanfics I’ve ever read.

7. What is an important lesson you’ve learned from your life?

That even if things are perfect for you now, you can’t let yourself be complacent and think that it’ll always be like this and nothing will change.  You need to prepare yourself in case things go to hell for you, especially if it happens so quickly.  Have a cushion set up for yourself (aka stuff like savings) so that it’s there for you to fall back on.

Also, be prepared to see the true colors of your friends/family when things do go to hell.

8. What makes you happy?

Mostly little things; cats, chocolate, sushi, sleep, the autumn season, stuff like that.

9. Do you like to spend an evening alone at home or out with friends?

Definitely an evening alone at home.

10. How many languages can you speak? What are they?

Sadly, English is my only fluent language.  I know some sign language, a little bit of Spanish, and I’m currently learning Japanese, but I’m not all that confident in using those languages yet, even just to get by.

11. How are you doing?

I’m all right, just tired.  At least I have the day off today.

What are some little known or random facts about Aeson and Saren that only Damo and Cassia know about them?

Saren

Nobody knows it, but Saren actually likes that Cassia has a thicker waist than normal turians. You wouldn’t think so with his insistence on always wearing turian only designed clothing and ways he likes to keep his own body close to the normal beauty standard of male turians. He’s worked on his physique to look thin, but still have a more lean amount of muscle. He doesn’t like it to be pointed out, but he’ll even gussy himself up for Cassia if she wants to go out somewhere with the both of them looking their better than best.

He also hates eating fish. Turians usually see it as a delicacy and you’d think being on Virmire would make someone love seafood, but he hates it. He doesn’t like the brine and salt seafood always has and you can’t make him even touch a dead fish because he hates the texture of their scales and bulging eyes. That and he doesn’t like it when meat flakes when he eats it. It’s not an appetizing texture.

He is really interested in Alexander the Great and has read quite a lot of books written about him. He particularly likes when other species write biographies or analyses of him because he can see how these species view a human and his successes.

Aeson

Although he has a fear of needles and would never get his own, he is absolutely amazed by Damocles’ tattoos. He loves them, especially the colorful ones, but gets embarrassed when Damo catches him admiring them.

Aeson is probably the only turian that wishes he could swim. Sometimes he manages to convince Damocles to go out into the water with him and on the rarest of times, Aeson puts on a life vest and convinces Damocles to swim deeper with him so Aeson can feel what it’s like to not have his feet touch the ground. He’s ducked his head a few times, but it takes some getting used to that saltiness when it gets in his mouth through the spaces in his teeth.

His favorite comic book hero is Spider-Man, even if it took him a long time to understand the concept as a kid. He probably still wouldn’t be able to explain just who and what Spider-Man is to, say, another turian in a way they’d understand. It’s just one of those ‘you just accept it as a kid because it’s cool’ thing.

Maybe a first Christmas for both girls and their boyfriends, since I imagine neither of the boys has come across it before them - @wafflesrock16 , I don’t think Tiberius would be super familiar with the holiday, prior to Lily?

3 Things OC Meme

Like before, I’ll do this with two characters.  I’ve done the following already -

Adam Shepard & Kira Ryder Marc Shepard & Luke Ryder Amy Shepard & Aleera Ryder

Ty Shepard

Ty is the third child born to a German/French father and a Korean mother. He had six other siblings; 2 sisters and four brothers.  All of them were raised on Mindoir in a farming community.  Ty initially wanted to get into agriculture as a career.  After the horrific events on Mindoir, Ty is the only one in his family to survive.

Early in his Alliance career, Ty was classed as a soldier, though he did have some tech skills.  His biotics emerged about a year after the events of Torfan, which he then changed his class to Sentinel after some training.

Ty was engaged to be married to another soldier name Gabe early on in his career.  However, tension rose between them after the events on Torfan to the point where they eventually broke up.  The experience caused Ty to close off his heart from others until he met Kaidan.

Rick Ryder

Rick’s full name is Richard Harlow Ryder.  He was named after his maternal grandfather, who he was close to through his childhood and teen years.

He’s a mix of Explorer and Sentinel.  Either way, he’s more of a tech guy than a biotic guy (though he definitely doesn’t hesitate to use the Charge maneuver when it calls for it because it’s so darn useful... and hell of a lot of fun to use).

Rick wanted to be an archeologist, but was strayed from the career path by his father and ended up joining the Alliance.  There was some jealousy on Rick’s part when his twin sister, Aleera, got the opportunity to work around prothean artifacts in her Alliance career while he was stuck guarding a relay.  After meeting Avela in Andromeda, Rick was thrilled when she gave him the opportunity to look for angaran artifacts.  It ended up being his favorite side job as a Pathfinder.
