Nascar/racer au update

Wash was definitely a rebellious teenager, (he fucking almost blinded someone in middle school ffs)

So Wash, rebellious teenager starts illegally racing (lol he's 15 years old) this is how he meets the Freelancers, York is a 17 year old mechanic, he meets wash through connie, they form basically a team and Wash gets really close to all of them because he learns really easy, but being illegal racers ofc they would do othe illegal stuff, he meets felix and locus and everything starts going downhill on there

that's when smt traumatising happens, the group is starting to get torn apart, ash thinks it's all his fault

then he meets the Reds and Blues, they suggest he start racing legally so he could earn money and help everyone (york needs money for the bills for his eye, Maine needs surgery for his throat)

at the story of the fanfic he's 15 turning 16, by the end he's about........ maybe in his 20's?

the timeline of the au basically

• Wash wasn't physically abused as a child, more emotional and verbal abuse, one parent verbally abused him all the time and the other basically ignored his existence or were really dry with him, this leads to his rebelliousness and meets connie who is the one that introduces him to the freelancers

• His relationship with the Freelancers started off rocky as he was cautious around them, but York was the one that helped show him that he could trust them (even if they were sort of a bad influence)

• Wash was friends with felix and locus at the start but turns out it was all a big trick to sabotage his group aka the Freelancers, this is what causes the group to start splitting apart

• Wash wasn't planning on racing ever again but he meets the Reds and Blues, Tucker is the one that tells him that he should race again but legally, he tries it and wins, using that money to pay off York's medical bills for his eye, bc of this he considers racing even more

• The reason why he chose the name Loki for his racer name is bc he felt that the names "David", "Wash" and "Washington" were for personal use/only for friends and family, he was debating using the name Washington for his racer name but chose Loki as his cat refused to die no matter what, and he never wants to lose no matter what

• Around the time he's able to join big races, everyone is praising him because he's one of the youngest drivers, ONE of them, the others- fucking felix and locus, felix HATES wash bc Wash is rhe only person to have ever beaten him other then Locus, and seeing Wash win all these trophies pissed him off

• Wash used to think highly of the Freelancers and he still kinda does, but he understands now that they weren't a good influence on him but he still wants to help them even if everyone is out and about/separated, he made sure to announce in an interview that the reason why he's racing is because he wants to be able to support his family and friends (lol south would have definitely pretend to not care about Wash but go to the races so she could "be there for north/it's nice to be with the whole group again")

• YORKLINA!!!!! York's a mechanic and Carolina was an illegal racer, she personally trained Wash and helped him improve, since nascar teams need more then one driver, she ends up joining "Bloodgulch" and become the second driver

• Imagining during ine chapter Wash almost fcking gets assassinated as he's getting too good, he ends up showing up on SOUTHS door step bc after the incident his and her relationship went downhill fast, which in that moment south realises that it wasn't his fault at all as he wasn't even an adult yet, so obviously she helps him

• During the championship wash does a move no one else has done, aka the car flying in the air bc I really like the image of Felix driving while looking up like "whAT-" meanwhile Locus would probably be staring up at him in shock and amazement (Felix would get even more pissed about this and probably try to run wash off the road, while locus would admire washs skill and continue the race not to win but to have fun alongside wash)

ALRIGHT ALRIGHT SO NEW AU IDEA!!!!

I don't know how it got into my head, I'm not even that much into racing- but racing AU. Wash is a very popular racer bc he drives solo (yes ik that's not allowed but this is a fcking fanfic) but his grandpa was a racer and he was practically destroyed by fame, stress everywhere

so his grandpa made him swear that if he was serious about racing, NO ONE was allowed to know who he was sept for his teammates, his team is 'blood gulch' aka it's the Reds and Blues

his other friends aka the freelancers- think he works as pitcrew, the Reds andbblues helped with the lie

he goes by "Loki" courtesy of his cat, his colours are grey with yellow stripes and donut being the teams Media and PR manager, he designed the helmet to add in some cat ears

Felix and Locis are in their own team, they often switch between driving when there's usually one half lap left (eg if they were to do 100 laps, felix does first 50, Locus does the last 50)

but wash is famous for doing it all by himself, he makes an announcement during an interview that if he manages to win the championships, he'll take his helmet off

ofc his dad gets mad at him about it but his grandpa says that this is washs choice, and that he should respect, (extra points if we add a "little" trauma and have his grandpa get sent to the hospital bc of how bad the argument is about, aka- motivation to win the championship!!!)

for some reason I have this very specific idea, washs car gets sabotaged during one of the games and he gets told that if he doesn't reach at least 3rd place, they won't make into the championship, so Wash starts stressing and getting overwhelmed while driving around, but then time slows down and he can see his friends/the Freelancers in the stand cheering for him, so he starts to think back to his childhood for when he used to play racing games and his sisters would do this trick that annoyed him

(KUDOS TO ROSS CHASTAIN FOR ACTUALLY DOING THIS TRICK)

So he presses his car against the barrier and switches to fifth gear while accelerating, it allows him to speed up and he overtakes Locus and gets first place.

(Also but like, what if Wash reveals to the freelancers before the championship, he thinks they'll be mad he lied but instead their all lile "Whoa what the fuck? that's amazing wash! so proud of you!")

now. the champion ship.

Felix being felix, plans to sabotage the other cars which does end up happening but "the show must go on" at a pitstop wash finds out a lot of fhe track is all messed up from crashed cars, out of worry to lose he starts hurrying, now fucking imagine.

Wash starts swerving and his brakes aren't working, everyone's panicking- but then he remembers, his teammates, his friends, his family

they are all there for him and they BELIEVE in him, so he speeds up towards a car that's sort of propped up on a ramp- and everyone watches as his car flies off it

(extra points if it's from felix's point of view and all he sees is Wash flying over him)

everybody CHEERS!!! the spokespeople (fcking jax and Dylan andrews) are like "WHOA WHAT? OH MY GOD"

the Freelancers are all shocked, surprised, amazed, and cheering their butts off, but then smt horrible happens, felix out if pure anger starts trying to hit wash and they both crash, right before the finish line

everyone is panicking and shocked bc there's a huge fire, but then-

boom. Wash just gets right out of the flames, a car part in hand- and he crosses the finish line, WOOOO HE WONNNNN HE- oh nooooo he collapses instantly because this mother fuckdr crashed his car, got outbif the flames while STILL on FIRE. Walks all the way to the line, crosses it, makes sure to hold his fist up with the car part, thennnn he collapses
