The One Where Klaus Knocks Up Stefan (10/20)  ~3800 words, some kelfan smut in this chapter. Elena/Elijah bonding, Rebekah and Bonnie stuff, and Freya makes her long awaited return. Next chapter I promise we’ll find out what’s going on with Damon after Klaus snapped his neck. My sense of pacing is more important than Damon’s safety.

"I'm not going to bite," Rebekah said with a sly smile, "I've already fed enough for the day."

 Bonnie strode over to her and picked up what looked like a Danish. "I'm not Elena," she took a bite of the Danish and lost her mind at the taste for a brief moment before forcing herself to keep an eye on the prize. "I don't make a habit of making deals with monsters."

 "We are in good company," Rebekah said, "because I find elaborate deal making tedious and more trouble than it's generally worth. However," she closed the book before handing it over to Bonnie, "I have no interest in fighting you or your friends. Consider this a peace offering. As Elijah likes to point out, gift giving is a powerful tradition in many different cultures for a good reason."

I definitely think there’s a pattern of short sentences to set the stage/introduce the main conflict/mystery. I suppose it makes sense since most of my fic are one shots or even shorter ficlets so you have to get to the point quickly haha. There’s a few jumping right into the action as well. To be honest, first sentences are not really my strength lol. In general I kind of assume people will try to read the first paragraph at least, so I tend to have shorter first sentences and then I build on that or subvert it in the second line to make it more interesting, but I don’t want to post full paragraphs here lol.

I’m fond of the one from Shadow of My Soul (20) and Without Express Permission (5), I think they’re some of the more interesting lines.

Marcel’s first sex dreams were about Elijah. And they continued until he started to notice Rebekah. At first, it made him feel flustered and good. Later, after Elijah ditched him, it infuriated him because he couldn’t make them stop. Periodically, throughout his life, Elijah would intrude in on his fantasies. They most involved Elijah’s hands and voice.

Marcel’s formative sexuality being so tied to Elijah is hardly the worst part of his life, but it’s probably the most fucking annoying and unfair.

Favorite Male Character: Jason. He’s just such a lovable idiot.

Favorite Female Character: Eleanor. She’s such a terrible person and she could so easily just wallow in it the way we all do, but she tries so hard to be better and she’s grown so much.

Least Favorite Character: A week ago it probably would’ve been Vicky but Trevor was so unfunny in the latest episode that he wins. I loved him in season one but all his jokes fell flat for me this time. I was glad he was flung off into the void.

Favorite Ship: Jason/Janet. She’s all-knowing and he is so not that but it works so well! He sees her value beyond her job and she sees him as a person instead of a walking punchline.

Favorite Friendship: Eleanor/Tahani. They shouldn’t work but they do and it’s the best.

Favorite Quote: Soooo many but probably

What if the reason you want to murder someone is to make your life easier? That’s okay, right?

Worst Character Death (if any): Gosh, probably Jason. At least the others went fast but Jason was all alone in that safe and we know from seeing him be saved that he was aware that he was dying. It’s just a really bad way to go.

This made me so happy you have no idea Moment: When Michael sacrificed himself for the group.I’m not sure I’d really say this made me happy but it’s definitely my favorite moment of the show and the one that always comes to mind when I think about the show’s quality. It’s such a huge growth moment and I very distinctly remember thinking when I saw it that I hated this show for making me love the demon.

Saddest Moment: Probably every moment that Mindy is on screen. I know I’ve said it before but the hell of the show is hell-on-earth, Mindy is in for real hell, cut off from all that is Good for all eternity. And sure, it’s not as actively Bad as the Bad Place, but badness is an absence of goodness. Mindy’s stuck with that forever and doesn’t even get the dignity of having it called torture.

Favorite Location: the Bad Place. I just love the aesthetic they went for with it.
