Ночь самое время подумать. И помечтать. По ночам я мечтаю, что с утра я возьмусь за голову. Собирусь и буду делать всё правильно. Как надо! А как надо? Тут обычно я уже хочу спать. И надеюсь, что с утра всё случится само собой. Не случается. И будильник ждёт ещё полчаса. А потом ещё 15 минут. А потом ещё пять. Нехотя встаю, за 10 минут собираюсь, умываюсь, чищу зубы. И совсем не помню о том, что хотела подумать о правильном. Поцеловать дочку перед школой. Встать в очередь на автобус. Слушать одни и те же песни, пока еду на работу. Так много дел. И совсем некогда подумать о правильном. На работе надо работать. И пытаться не сбежать домой. От этого тоже совсем не думается о правильном. А вечером обратное движение по тем же рельсам: музыка в наушниках- автобус-магазин-дом. А там ужин и компьютер. Разговоры с дочкой, как прошёл день. Слушаю в пол уха. Киваю, улыбаюсь. Или злюсь. Некогда думать о правильном, надо вспомнить имена одноклассников дочки. Тяжело. Помню только 6 из 32. Ребенок спит. В руках скетчбук и карандаш. Теперь можно подумать о правильном. Но... Глаза слипаются. Does anyone remember these beauties from Russia? They completely stopped publishing translated books in English anymore. Or Hindi. And they used to be sold in book fairs in schools in the remotest corners of India along with those sad, atrociously printed books by Book Trust India. And they used to be so inexpensive! The side-effects of the fall of an empire, I guess. Someone must revive this side of the Russian publishing industry though. Baba Yaga (or Baba Jaga) is the Arch-Crone, Goddess of Wisdom & Death, and Bone Mother of Russian folklore. She neither wears a pointy hat nor rides a broom, but her nose is large and her snoring ferocious. Often accompanied by spirits, she is a wild and natural force whose presence is proceeded by whirling winds and stirring trees. She flies in a mortar, brandishing a pestle, echoing the herb-based craft of many witches throughout history and lore. She has her coven: two sisters who share her name. A trifecta of Baba Yagas; the maiden, the mother, the crone. Encircled by a fence of bones and seeing skulls, her home moves freely on its ginormous chicken legs. Baba Yaga has rule over the elements, but not the pure of heart (such as Vasilisa the Wise, who you can swipe to see). You can read translations of her stories by Russia's great fairytale author, Alexander Afanasyev (1826-1871). 📸s: 1.
