A motion for a Senate Inquiry has been filed by social partners to investigate the Belize-Portico Agreement.

The Special Select Committee will look into the validity of the agreement, communication and documentation related to it, and whether established procedures and investment policies were followed.

Attorney Michael Peyrefitte, asked to vouch for Barry Williams—an actor, seemingly with.at least two Russian pseudonyms, who is embroiled in the convoluted Belize ports saga—confirms he represented Williams in a case involving frozen funds, but denies knowledge of any current relevance of Williams' name in the Definitive Agreement saga.

3. The Port of Belize Limited has sent a second letter to call for an investigation into the Definitive Agreement.

The Belize Port Authority was not consulted during the drafting of the agreement and legislation.

Government ministers have condemned the agreement and the former Prime Minister has declared that Erwin Contreras had no authority to sign it without Cabinet approval.

4. Belize Sugar Industries (BSI) marked the end of their 56th sugar cane crop season with a small celebration.

There was a significant decline in sugar production during this season.

The industry still faces several challenges despite the end of the crop season.

5. A partnership between Belize's Ministry of Agriculture and the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation will benefit hundreds of farmers with $6 million in cash and bio inputs to transition towards environmentally friendly farming practices.

The project, dubbed Sembrando Vida Belize, mirrors a similar one in Mexico and was launched at the Yo Creek Agriculture Station in Orange Walk District.

The project's goal is to share Mexico's successful program with other countries and strengthen the region by working together towards sustainable agriculture practices.

6. Police Commissioner Chester Williams is seeking compensation for damages caused by a video aired on Channel 5 and Channel 7 regarding a gun license matter.

The Commissioner's attorney claims that the statement has brought disrepute to his client's name and is asking for a retraction, apology, legal fees, and damages caused.

Channel 7's attorney has responded, saying that the video aired was a paid political ad.

Most Ukrainian POWs have never been visited by the representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) while in russian captivity. Instead, they faced starvation, torture, and humiliation.

Both the U.N. and the ICRC did not provide sufficient or even existing responses, including when russian troops blew up the Kakhovka Dam in June 2023, instead celebrating the "russian language day".

The active part Red Cross is taking in the forced deportation of Ukrainian children from the occupied territories is also worth noting.

To be honest, I can't believe it. It's already 10 years of war and 730 days of full-scale invasion.

I have not much to say, 'cause this war turned my life and the lives of other Ukrainians into a completely new reality. I am not sure I would ever "heal" from this all. Is it even possible?

Today, 24 February 2024... I wanna say thank you to the people who still support us in any way possible.

I wanna say thank you, to Ukrainians, who are dealing with it, doing all possible. I wanna say thank you to our defenders.

And... Please, if you have a possibility, light up the candle in memory of the ones, who won't ever meet new day. In memory of our civilians and heroes.
