As I was running 🏃‍♀️ tonight I had to silence my music in order to just listen to the sound of those big waves splashing on the shore. For a few moments I forgot I was running next to a busy road. First interval session since August, so I tried to ease myself into it again. 5x1000m at the track, 4.46, 4.37, 4.32, 4.31, 4.31 with 2-3 min rests in between. Could have been better but also worst. So I was fairly pleased with this session, followed by some running form drills. (at Vári, Greece)

The weather has gone properly mad. Friday I was out on my summer kit running hill repeats, while for the Sunday run I put on my thermal top, jacket and gloves! It was so windy that it was the first time I ran on the spot without someone holding me with a belt for training!!! Anyway, we can’t wait for the perfect day to go running. Had too much of a good time this weekend, so the (very) long run was left for Monday morning. Full summer outfit as it was a gorgeous sunny day and I was thankful for the breeze to keep me cool. Long run done with the last 3km at a faster pace. All good apart from a niggle on my right hip, I’ll try some foam rolling on it. My world has been torn into tiny little pieces since yesterday. However I ran today at sunset in the trails. One hour during which I broke away, I was alone, free, admiring the sunset, seeing the city lights come on and all was normal again for a little while. I can’t believe my husband’s camera captured this series of pictures. Today’s race was a mountain half marathon with 700m elevation. As I was about 1km from the end, my husband and 4.5 year old son were waiting to see me. My boy shouted encouragement to me and then offered me a daisy as I was running past. I waved but had no intention of stopping. But I just couldn’t ignore this beautiful gesture so after running a few steps I turned back, got the daisy and the child and off we went. My husband was shouting something but I couldn’t make out what. He was shouting that I still had a while to go for the finish and to not take the little one with me. Oh well, just as well we didn’t hear him. We ran well for a while till the poor lad said he was tired so I carried him. Once we saw the finish line everyone started cheering for us so he got a second wind and sprinted to the finish. I was 6th lady of the race with an average speed of 5.55/km, time 2.09’. I was 3d up the mountain but was swiftly overtaken on the downhill by 3 other girls. I just could not run fast enough on the rocks, too scared of falling and hurting myself. The views were amazing and I’m so glad I completed my first serious mountain race.
