The reception room at Rundāle Palace, the 18th century baroque residence of the Dukes of Courland, Latvia. The grand room includes frescoes of Venus and her beloved Adonis. To the left of the room stands the most beautiful black lacquer commode made by the cabinet maker to the French Court, Jean Henri Riesener. This extraordinary commode is said to be the most valuable piece of furniture in the museum’s vast collection.
