Experimentation is without its bouts of failure. Rather than to indicate poor execution, lapses in technical adequacy may serve as a means to refinement and a redirection of the experiment's goals.

That is, if such redirection must lead Rui Kamishiro a couple years back into the past without any means for return.

It was unintentional, really. Rui was merely revisiting one of his previous inventions to use for their next show. Usually he'd opt to start from the scratch when it comes to creating special effects and devices for a creative approach. However, he'd decided that a revision of his inventions may yield an interesting outcome.

And interestingly so, tinkering with a time machine did.

Rui surveys the area that he was transported at and finds himself standing on a familiar street in the city with lines of houses surrounding him. It is a relief that he wasn't sent into another country due to the time reversal, that only lessens the amount of effort he needs to exert to go back.

Although...

Rui turns, expecting to see the same dome-shaped machine to greet him but instead he meets an open gate to a large mansion. Before his muddled, sleep-deprived mind can register the familiar structure of the front garden and entrance, the door opens, revealing a boy in his middle school uniform.

As one would expect to react to a stranger on their doorstep, the boy yelps, staggering a few steps back into the room in shock. "Y-You—!"

Sunset hair, vibrantly colored eyes and a loud, booming voice of a million decibels—it is without a doubt that Tsukasa Tenma is the boy standing there in front of him.

"Hello," he greets, still a bit dumbfounded from the fast pace of occurrences flashing by him in seconds. "I'm sorry for intruding you."

"Oh! W-Well, there's no need for apologies. I just wasn't mindful is all!" Unexpectedly, a rush of red flushes the star's cheeks. "May I help you?"

There's a couple of things to note. One is that Tsukasa clearly doesn't recognize him and two is that he's definitely, without a doubt in his brilliant mind much younger than his actual age.

Much shorter too, he thinks then giggles internally, but Tsukasa-kun has always been rather short.

At the back of his mind, Rui realizes that interacting with a Tsukasa-kun in the past may alter the timeline of their first meeting and possibly cause a time paradox and that he must find a way to evacuate quickly. It is a reasonable thought, one that should be heeded and listened to in caution but something within Rui's desires drives him to step closer to the flustered student and ruffle the strands of his hair.

He smiles, wearing that one particular smile that he knows Tsukasa maddens over. "There's a favor actually~ Promise you won't tell anyone? It's a bit of a personal matter."

"I-I—!" As expected, Tsukasa's blush intensifies and his eyes restlessly look back and forth at his face. He fidgets with the buttons of his shirt, mumbling, "Well, as long as I can help someone in need..."

Ahhh~ Tsukasa-kun is always so cute~ It's way too easy to tease him.

He chuckles lowly, "Then if I may ask—hm?"

Before he can question Tsukasa where the nearest hardware store was in their area (although he already knows, he was merely savoring the time to talk to the young star), the sounds of running footsteps resounds across the street accompanied by the screech of someone's yell slowly increasing in volume.

Then suddenly, something slams into him.

The impact was immediate and the effects instantaneous. One second, Rui Kamishiro is standing tall on his 180cm glory near Tsukasa and the next he is lying face down on the concrete ground, a schoolbag over his bruised head and a stream of blood gushing out from his grinning mouth. Tsukasa screams in worry, yelling out whether he's okay.

And then, a voice as loud and shrilling as Tsukasa's thunders the area. "Stay away from my brother, you creep!!!!"

♡ LONG TIME CHILDHOOD FRIENDS - Akito Shinonome, Rui Kamishiro, Tsukasa Tenma and Mizuki Akiyama x Reader

Akito:

Akito's childhood was neither here nor there, so you both faced a lot of problems together

Any time something went down in his family, he would immediately go to you, not saying anything as he simply wanted to be in your company

When you end up moving away, he's not sure what to do with himself, but he tries to forget about you

Of course he doesn't, he still remembers your favorite color and favorite snack when you were young

You end up bumping into him while he's doing a street performance. You both met eyes as you were walking, and the shock of seeing him again makes you freeze

He's distracted for the first time, barely able to remember his set list as he keeps his eyes on you. There was no way it was you, right?

Immediately afterward, you both run to meet each other, and he can't help himself from hugging you. "When did you get back here? Ah whatever, I'm just glad to see you again."

Rui:

Rui's childhood was...something, to say the least. You were his best friend and he stuck to you like glue

You were with him as he started to get into robotics, encouraging his schemes and plans even when other kids started treating him as a weirdo

Your departure from his life shatters him, but he tries to move on as best as he could

He never moves on. He gets reminded of you all the time, and it kind of breaks his heart.

However, it all changes when you of all people come up to him after a WxS performance. Granted, he didn't see you in the crowd, but you recognized him

You went to tell him how good he did in the show, but he found himself bewildered to be face to face with you again. He almost cries, but he hides it as he embraces you

"Oh my god, it's you..." He whispers, still in shock as he pulls back to smile at you, "I've missed you so much." You spend time catching up with him afterwards!

Tsukasa:

Growing up, Tsukasa had quite the childhood. You were one of his only friends he had growing up

You stuck with him throughout elementary school, helping him as Saki went to the hospital, but you were forced to move away once you both grew older

He promised that he'd find you again one day, and kept a little charm you both made once close to his heart

He never backed down from a promise, and made sure to keep looking out for you even as the years passed

Finally, finally, one day, he saw you walking around Phoenix Wonderland. He recognized the charm you had almost immediately, and practically screamed your name

You were surprised to hear your name in the middle of an amusement park, but when you saw the man currently barreling towards you, it all made sense

He tackled you in the tightest hug he could, already excitedly talking your ear off as he looked you over, his eyes sparkling brightly. "I told you we'd see each other again!"

Mizuki:

You had stuck with Mizuki through a lot, they had been through a lot growing up after all

You had been with them before middle school and through the first year of it, however you both had been separated after you were forced to move

They were extremely upset about losing you, and they would always find themselves missing you on the loneliest of days

As the years passed, they never expected to see you again. It had been way too long, there was no way...

But, when they were out at the mall, they saw you from a random shop and almost dropped everything they had bought in their haste to see you

They called your name out, and you turned to look at them, surprise evident on your face. You both embraced, and you comment they seem happier, especially with how they've changed

They can only smile wide, squeezing you tighter in a hug as they looked down at the ground. "I think I'm even happier now that you're here."

How did (some) characters find out they're gay

Ichika: in middle school, she listened to Magnet. Really. She was like "wait i can do that?" Then looked at Saki (since this is middle school) and her brain exploded.

Saki: she kind of. Always grew up talking about marrying girls and thought it was normal also until middle school when one day she just started thinking about it and went "oh. Yeah that makes sense" and kept going with her life, probably the first in leo/need to figure it out.

Honami: it was in high school because Saki kept flirting and the rest of leo/need just looked too damn gorgeous and she went through a whole crisis before reaching acceptance in like 30 minutes.

Minori: Haruka. Thats all.

Haruka: in middle school, Haruka wanted to figure out if she's gay so An had an idea, they could kiss, so Haruka would think of her feelings and realize them. So they kissed, Haruka thought it was nice but didn't have much more feelings about it so she thought she was straight. Years later she met Minori and oh, she was a fool.

Shizuku: she was too busy trying to make Shiho come out that she never really thought about herself, she knows it in some way but she never thought about it and never will, it'll take her like 2 years dating Airi for Airi to call them both lesbians and Shizuku stops like "wait I am? Wait wanting to kiss you is not normal??" (I know Shizuku is smart but come on she's an airhead + this is for funnies)

Kohane: An smiled at her the first time and I think her brain exploded in purple, blue and pink (bi) glitter. "Dads im bi" "SHE'S NOT STRAIGHT IM SO HAPPY" (i stole someone's headcanon with her having two dads sorry)

An: she spent half of her childhood saying she'd marry Nagi, and her street usually had a pride parade every june, so she just. Kind of always grew up knowing she liked girls? The shock was her finding out she's bi in high school.

Akito: a few weeks after meeting Toya he's just sitting on his room thinking about how cute the boy is and how his hand is so soft and how- oh shit Ena would make so much fun of him if she knew (she knew before he did).

Tsukasa: the boy has yet to figure it out, despite Saki trying to say he's gay every day. Give him a few more years. Or a Rui kiss. Both works.

Nene: somewhere in high school she looked at Emu, looked at Ichika, thought back on her little mermaid obsession with the actress and went ".. oh. oh"

Rui: probably kind of always knew, but he did have a time where he got confused bc he dated Mizuki for some time in middle school but then Mizuki came out as trans so he was like "... What if i only like girls and just had a really good radar?" Nah. He's just bi/pan

Mafuyu: once as a kid she mentioned she wanted to marry her elementary school best friend and Mafumom started talking about dishonor and that she cant and blablabla so she just locked that up. When Mizuki and Ena said something about liking girls and Mafuyu looked around at the feelings the three girls give her she just. remembered everything, both the feelings for that friend and her mom's talk. She started having a panic attack then because one girl was bad but THREE??

Mizuki: always knew she liked girls so it took the transition to call herself gay. However Rui did make her realize she also likes boys.

some wxs physical touch headcanons.. i guess!!

okay so before we begin fyi i headcanon all of them aroace~

Tsukasa:

okay i feel like. he would like patting people on the back/hand on shoulder. big brother gesture or something i don’t know. (it makes sense in my head okay) he’ll do this with anyone.

he likes hugs! i dont have much to say about this except he does.

he’ll also kiss saki and toya on the forehead as a ‘big brother’ thing!

Emu:

she is really big on hugs. loves giving people hugs. if she hugs you she likes you! (she always asks before hugging though!) i also feel like she is able to have have strong hugs if she’s especially excited (her hugging rui and hearing 1133889 pops.)

for people she is closer with she’ll kiss them on the cheek! with people she really cares about she gets really excited and full of love and kissing them on the cheek is how she shows them that! (besides already acting excited and probably hugging them already but! sometimes shes so excited that hugs won’t cut it. ) before she started kissing wxs on the cheek she made sure to ask if it was alright with them!

also i want to add that eventually with wxs she wouldn’t have to ask before touching them. because thats like a level of trust to me. if that makes sense?

Nene:

pretty much the only member of wxs that doesn’t favor physical touch. this obviously doesn’t work out for her. (wxs group hugs and she’s squished in the middle. she’s gotten used to them now and has come to really appreciate them.)

when she finally started getting used to wxs (emu and tsukasa mostly) she would start resting her head on their shoulders if she was tired. (sign of trust!)

basically what i’m saying is that she only lets people who are close to her touch her. when she was younger she would pretty much only let her parents and (eventually) rui touch her.** but even though sometimes she is not comfortable with touch at all, so she always prefers if someone asks before touching her.

Rui:

when you first meet him he doesn’t seem like he would be big into physical touch. but he so is. he mostly shows it with people he is close with. he won’t hug someone he’s only been friends with for a few weeks. (+ it really depends on the person)

during elementary he would give friends that he wasn’t super close with hugs, but this eventually led to them calling him clingy. (i could go on and on ab this. basically its about how he would consider people his ‘best friends’ and those feelings being reciprocated almost never.) now he’s self-conscious about this and doesn’t share physical touch as much as he would like. this also led to him only being affectionate with people he is close-close with. example being wxs! wxs is probably the only people you will see him hugging besides his parents.**

saying this, he likes hugs! a lot! he does those big hugs where he squeezes you. (like those hugs where you go ‘uuuhfffff’)

i feel like he would also like holding hands with certain people. it can help ground him. it helps let him know that they are real and there and aren’t leaving. he knows this now but it’s still nice sometimes

Tenma Siblings HC:

When Saki, Toya, and Kanade start dating their partners Tsukasa is worried for them, but pushes that feeling aside as to not come across as overprotective over them. He welcomes their partners into their home whenever they visit, he helps them plan dates and get gifts, etc.

Saki, Toya, and Kanade, on the other hand, are very overprotective of Tsukasa and weren't afraid to let it show when he and Rui began dating. They do everything they can to intimidate him. Toya will corner him at school. Saki will watch him like a hawk whenever he comes over. Kanade will send him random messages in the middle of the night, yes, even while she's having Nightcord meetings.

Rui is simultaneously amused, endeared, and terrified. He tells Tsukasa about this, and, obviously, Tsukasa is mortified. He thought his siblings would have taken his approach of "be worried but not let that turn into overprotection." They didn't.

Let's kill Tsukasa Tenma.

Imagine Tsukasa having his Saki's same illness. But he dies before Saki is born and remains as a ghost.

Our dear ghost begins to take care of his sister, hoping she doesn't die. And Saki doesn't even know she has a brother cause her parents never told her. She just call Tsukasa 'Nii chan' because he takes care of her in the hospital.

He knows how is it to die like that, so he uses his ghost powers to do magic tricks and.... Basically the other Tsukasa Tenma stuff he used to do in the hospital. Making the hina dolls float, and stuff like that.

Basically, the whole Saki Tenma childhood but with ghost-Kasa.

One day they speak about how Saki may be discharged (this is like, his third year of middle school) and he's scared she won't be able to see him anymore. So he wanders, finds Kamikou, and... Oh! Oh! There's a purple haired boy on the rooftop...! And why is he looking at him?

Tsukasa spends hours speaking with this guy, and the guy tells Tsukasa he wants to be a stage director, so Tsukasa begins to help him with special effects and stuff, having fun while Saki rests.

(he also helps Nene getting back into theater, pushing Rui to retie their friendship)

And then, when he should be in second year, Saki gets better, Leo/need gets back together, and she stops seeing him. Tells their parents one day that "Nii chan is gone", and then she finds out the truth.

But he's the one who thinks she should move on, that she doesn't need someone to always watch her and protect her forever.

WxS in the meantime meets Tsukasa. Wonder Stage feels livelier than ever! And Saki one day goes see their shows... And Tsukasa is there. On the stage. Where he should be.

Saki cries. Tsukasa hugs her.

The two talk, finally, and eventually, he decides to stay, he has a reason to stay, but none to go. He's at peace, and yet his peace is living. He wasn't ready to die, he still isn't. All he knows, is that in that world, he's still needed.

He'll eventually end up in the sekai, somehow, acting like one of the VS as an hologram inside the phone, some sort of entity traveling between Sekais (his and L/n's mostly, but as he meets more people, he'll begin to find ways to enter the other Sekais because we love Tsukasa's energy)

Do you know/can you make a rough estimate on where the characters attended middle school? I know that Kamiyama has a middle school but I can’t figure out/find any in game evidence that suggests characters like Mizuki and Rui having gone to said middle school. The one thing I can infer is that since Kamiyama seems to be the school for people with lower socioeconomic backgrounds, and both An and Akito are implied to come from not so wealthy families/backgrounds that they’d probably go to Kami middle school, but that’s about it

Okay so a lot of the middle schools that characters attended go unnamed except for Miyamasuzaka and Kamiyama and none of the uniforms have any identifiable school logos or anything so some characters might've attended the same school and we just don't know. Anyway

Mizuki and Rui both attended a middle school near Kamiyama (i think that's kamikou in the background). This is brought up in multiple events/card stories/area conversations but the KAMIKOU FESTIVAL! event story has 2 flashback chapters detailing how they met and the year that they were friends. We only know what the boy's uniform looks like, but none of the girls who have middle school L2D's match the color scheme, so it's safe to say just Mizuki and Rui attended this one.

All of Leo/need and Mafuyu went to Miyamasuzaka's middle school. Again this is something that's brought up quite a few times, with Leo/need especially. Saki was in hospital for the vast majority of middle school so didn't really attend. The uniform is just the normal Miyajou uniform but with a blue tie instead of red. It's likely that Shizuku attended here too.

Airi and Ena attended the same middle school. We don't have a name for it but Ena has a Live2D model with her in uniform. It's likely that Akito attended this school too.

Haruka and An attended school together up until high school. Haruka mentions in Run! Sports Festival! that the last time she took part in a school event was 5th grade, which is during elementary so she probably wasn't in school a whole lot during middle school. Anyway, even though we have a middle school An Live2D, she isn't wearing her uniform so we don't know where she went to school other than that it wasn't Kami or Miya.

We have middle school Live2D models for Kanade, Tsukasa and Nene, but again we don't know what schools they attended. It's possible that Tsukasa is wearing the boy's uniform for Kanade or Nene's school (or Ena & Airi's school) but because no names are mentioned, we can't tell.

Also it can be assumed that Toya went to private school (it's mentioned that his parents wanted to send him to a prep school for high school, so the same is likely for middle school) but I don't recall it ever being confirmed.

We don't know where Akito went to middle school. He's known An since he was middle school-aged but that was through WEEKEND GARAGE and it's never mentioned that they went to the same school. It's likely he went to the same school as Ena.

We also don't know where Minori and Kohane went to middle school but we know they probably didn't attend the same one since they didn't meet until high school. Nor do we know where Emu or Shizuku went to middle school, for the latter it was probably Miyajo middle school.

LSH really fed me so well with two of my favorite cross unit dynamics in the entire game

The event itself has a lot of mizuan moments but this moment specifically is so fucking cute I love you an… she’s such a good friend… she’s been so supportive of mizuki since day one… Forever thinking about how Kamiyama Fes has middle school rui + mizuki talking on the roof about solitude and waiting for someone who never shows up & then in the present tsukasa shows up looking for rui and an shows up looking for mizuki.

The mizuan dynamic is not the same as the ruikasa dynamic (& I’ll probably talk abt them both & their similarities wrt school at some point) but in a similar way an is someone who changed mizuki’s opinions about school by offering genuine friendship, & that led to other friendships at Kamiyama. Mizuki has niigo but they’re not people she sees at school & can’t support her there (also bc she hasn’t told them about all of that) but an is someone who can support her at school. “I want to know you and I want you to have fun because I care about you” etc etc. I wish their relationship was talked about more ily mizuan.

I’ve talked a lot abt how toya & rui’s relationship is kind of a way to measure how much rui’s attitude towards befriending his peers has changed after meeting tsukasa and i think this event shows that really well… checking up on toya for tsukasa in ode for the pure of heart -> helping toya because of tsukasa in NGUC -> now they’re close enough friends that they’re connecting & hanging out over something (mostly) unrelated to that blond bitch. There’s also a connection there to how rui’s peers change their perceptions on him when he’s teaching them (because it’s a different side of him than Let’s Blow Up The Pool) & toya noting how good of a teacher he is -> rui’s year up 2* where he’s showing new greening club members the ropes.

Also I love that toya’s opinion of rui has largely stayed as “my nice helpful smart senior :) he loves making people smile. I’m sure he’s very responsible.” even as he witnesses Rui fuck with his brother & run from an on a near daily basis. He’s just a very genuine (& oblivious) guy. Big fan of how rui actually acts like a nice helpful senior with toya as well because it’s a side of him that’s kinda rare to see.

I won’t lie, I completely forgot that I actually planned on posting writing on this blog- aghhh I’m one of the most inconsistent people alive, god help this outcast please. Here’s some stuff I wrote while listening to the ruikasa fixer cover. Hopefully since school’s over for the summer I’ll remember to write more! Might do Tsukasa later.

General yandere Rui headcanons

Yandere type: Monopoly main type with stalker and manipulative subtypes

I think you’d know Rui either as one of his middle school friends or as a WxS fan

If you were friends in middle school, I think he’d be less intense in his obsession. You’ve already stuck with him for this long, so he has less doubts of whether or not you’ll leave him.

On the other hand, if you meet him through his shows with wxs, he’s much more paranoid about you abandoning him, especially if you also end up getting close with the other members.

He doesn’t realize his feelings for you at first, though his friends probably notice. It’s likely one of them teasing him about you that makes him finally piece things together.

Anyway, I think he would’ve stalked you throughout school and occasionally outside of that even before he realized he loved you, but now that he knows, he’s upping the ante

Any room with good hiding spots have cameras in them, he’s hacking your devices, giving you little robotic gifts that, while cute and fun, also have listening bugs.

Speaking of gifts, you now have a horde of them. Anything from little figurines that throw confetti, to your own robo-you if you’re shy like Nene.

He brings you along to his rehearsals. He does show off a bit, but it’s in line enough with his usual dramatics that it’s only obvious if you’re looking for it.

Unfortunately, Rui tends to be Extremely Jealous. He is NOT a fan of you getting close with the others. I think he’d believe Tsukasa to be the biggest threat, since he can be genuinely charming, followed by Emu, then Nene, since he’s known her for a while and trusts that she won’t hurt him by getting in his way.

I don’t think he would resort to killing other people, it’s just not in his character. I think his method of driving people away from you would be leaning into his reputation as an unhinged freak so that people stop talking to you since he’s pretty much glued to your side whenever he can be. This might result in some injury to others, but usually nothing too bad. He won’t go further than a medium sized cut or a particularly bad bruise.

The main motive behind his obsession is a fear of abandonment. He’s been so alone and isolated from his peers for so long that the first time someone he’s in love with doesn’t think he’s creepy (before the stalking, anyway) he can’t help but latch on to you and never want to let go.

He’s entirely aware that what he’s doing and feeling isn’t normal or sane, but at the same time, he doesn’t really care. Even if you do find out, he’s been called a maniac for almost all of his life, so even if it stings a bit more, what’s one more person? If push comes to shove, he could just stage an incident to get you expelled and then keep you in his basement with him and his inventions.

the idol group: Shizuku (leader), Ena, Tsukasa, Minori

Ena's photos on social media led to her being scouted by the same modelling agency that Shizuku worked for. they become good friends and both end up as idols at Cheerful Days. Shizuku quits earlier though, because Ena saw how the other members were treating her and almost immediately was like "err no, i'm not having that" and they both left, believing that their idol days were over

meanwhile, Tsukasa has decided to take a different path to stardom, aspiring to be a world-famous idol instead of an actor, somewhat inspired by his childhood friend. however, he isn't as successful, and similarly to Minori, many of his applications have been rejected. after Shizuku left Cheerful Days, learning of his bad luck, she tries to cheer him up by suggesting he join an unofficial group with herself and Ena. he accepts reluctantly, though insists it is temporary and that he will make it to a "real" idol group one day

Shizuku begins her second year of high school like Haruka in canon, going as a normal student. one day, she finds Minori on the rooftop practicing and is reminded of the most fun parts of being an idol. she offers to help Minori improve, and- having been missing Ena and Tsukasa since the two, while still friends, weren't able to talk as much once school started- contacts them to see if they'd like to help Minori out. Minori and Tsukasa, with their similar ambition and upbeat personalities, get along instantly and Minori is now the fourth member of their group

the online indie group: Kanade (leader), Saki, Ichika, Nene

the same circumstances led to Kanade starting to compose. one day, while bored and surfing the internet in hospital, Saki came across her music and started to write lyrics for it since it has resonated with her. she eventually decided to send her lyrics to this K person, who, to her surprise, responded, and even offered that Saki join her as a lyricist

once well enough to start high school, Saki excitedly tells Ichika all about her new hobby. Ichika still longs to bring their band from their childhood back together, but with little luck talking to Honami and Shiho, eventually joins Saki and Kanade's little group. she uses her guitar to add to Kanade's music and sometimes sings Saki's lyrics

Nene was still very much affected by what had happened in her middle school performance. yet, her desire to sing remained, even though she felt she could never face an audience again. one day, as she was listening to random music while gaming, a piece from K's group turned up. she stopped what she was doing and tried singing along to it- it fit her voice perfectly, as if it was made for her. with some encouragement from Rui, she made up her mind and asked if she could be a singer for their group. the other three, impressed by her clear skill, accepted

the theatre troupe: Emu (leader), Rui, Mizuki, Airi

Emu and Rui's meeting goes similarly to canon. desperately searching for cast members, Emu catches one of his illegal shows at PXL. she sees the park security before he does as he's distracted with his performance and whisks him away to the Wonder Stage, where she asks him to join her troupe. of course, he has no reason to refuse- and in addition, he has another possible member in mind. his old friend Mizuki, who would be great help with costumes, making the stage "cuter"- and something tells Rui that they'd make for a good actress too

the next rare occasion he sees them at school, he asks them to join. hearing of the state of the stage, as well as wanting to repay Rui for his company back then, Mizuki instantly agrees

meanwhile, Emu is on the hunt for more members at her own school. Airi, having quit her old work at this point, runs into Emu at one point. Emu recognises her from TV and excitedly tells the older girl that if she joins her troupe, she'll get the chance to make many people smile and spread hope. although it isn't exactly the idol future she wished for, Airi is convinced by Emu and becomes the main singer of the troupe whenever they do musicals

the street musicians: An, Akito, Haruka, Shiho

once An and Akito found out they had the same goal, they teamed up from the start and became a duo, so An didn't try to find a singing partner and Akito never ran into Toya singing, though i think they would still be decent friends through school, but not as close as canon

Haruka went through the same situation with Mai that led to her quitting as an idol. one day, wanting a change of scenery, she decided to meet up with An at Weekend Garage and when she arrived, she was greeted with her and Akito bickering over how they should sing lines in song. Haruka stepped in with her suggestions and the pair took a liking to her singing voice and asked if she wanted to join them. for a few days, Haruka was reluctant, but eventually gave into An's pleas and started singing with them on Vivid Street

while headed to the Miyajou music room to practice her bass, Shiho walked in on Haruka practicing her singing and was impressed by her work ethic. for a few weeks, they would practice songs together, Haruka singing along to the music Shiho played on the bass. eventually, after talking to An and Akito, Haruka invited Shiho to their group

Shiho was sceptical at first, and a bit put off by An and Akito's personalities when she first met them, but once she saw how serious they were about their goal, she felt she could relate to them a little with how driven they all were. Akito, inspired by Shiho's ability to both sing and play an instrument, decided to start learning the guitar

the band: Honami, Mafuyu, Kohane, Toya

Honami, even though she feels like it's a bit pointless since Saki, Ichika and Shiho have found different music groups, as well as not having the confidence to reach out to them all again, still continues to practice her drumming, even though she doesn't really know what her aim is

Mafuyu, not having ever come across K's music, hears Honami play one day as she walks past the school's music room. she senses a fellow person who doesn't really know what they're doing with their life and wordlessly enters and begins playing the piano in the room along with the drumming. Honami is surprised but doesn't stop. that is their routine for a while, simply playing the same song together without exchanging many words, but there's a silent understanding between them

Kohane did run into An's group practicing at Weekend Garage, but didn't return after running away the first time. however, her newfound interest in music remained and she visited the music room one day as Honami and Mafuyu were playing. she recognised the song and absentmindedly started to sing it as she stood by the doorway, accidentally catching their attention. however, Honami quickly stopped her from walking away and asked her if she'd like to continue singing along to their music

the three of them eventually became a band, but it did feel like something was missing. i'm going to say that in this AU, Mafuyu and Toya's parents are friends, so they know of each other. although Toya didn't particularly want to continue with classical music, he figured playing with people he could potentially befriend was much better than complete strangers, so when Mafuyu offers him a place in their group, he accepts. he becomes best friends with Kohane and agrees to become the violinist for their band. they often play at the Aoyagi house since it's got the most space

cross unit relationships

Rui and Nene: as childhood friends and neighbours, they are still extremely close despite not being in the same group. Rui is often in the background when Nene's on Nightcord calls. they share ideas with each other- though Nene does feel slightly down when she hears about everything Rui gets up to in his new theatre troupe as she somewhat wishes she was still able to join one

An and Kohane: never fear, Anhane will still occur despite them being in different units. Toya and Kohane head to Weekend Garage one day because Toya heard that their coffee was good and Kohane gets the opportunity to actually speak to An. they agree to stay in touch

Shizuku and Airi: they briefly met while they were both in the idol industry and remained good friends. Shizuku takes Airi's advice regarding being an idol and Airi is often inviting Shizuku to come see their shows. however, Shizuku always ends up lost, especially with the Wonder Stage in such an obscure location, so Airi has to send Rui to go looking for her- since he often plays the villain, he tends not to appear in performances until a bit later, giving him the time to go searching even when the show's due to begin

hello yuri community. I am about to Rant. This is the Mikitena Masterpost. My pet girlfriends who have every disease.

Mikiso Saito (the purple one):

Created first! They/them lesbian, autism and ADHD ridden because they are just like me, for real. Seventeen years old as of ensekai canon, eighteen in jpsekai.

Despite being nonbinary, they do like feminine terms like girlfriend and other similarly feminine words. They are very against she/her pronouns, though. They also have some gender dysphoria because of their feminine figure, but they don’t mind it as much as they used to.

Naturally purple-haired, the cyan streak is dyed. This is because they are abnormal about Rui Kamishiro and had no idea how to speak to him and chose the most normal path of trying to look like him to get his attention. It works. They are friends.

Friends with another friend’s (@kenderlike) pjsk oc, Mikuo. This is lore-relevant because Mikuo is the one who gives Miki relationship advice (neither of them have ever been in a relationship at this point in time.)

Originally went to Miyamasuzaka, transferred partway through second year. Used to be classmates with Haruka and Saki, did not speak to Haruka because they were intimidated Minori style. Saki and Emu are their best friends prior to transfer, they still remain close.

They move to Kamiyama midway through their second year when their parents move - very stressful. Miki struggled a lot to make friends when they were in elementary and part of middle school, since they struggled a lot with social cues and other elements. This meant they were alone for a long period, which has left them with some problems they haven’t quite gotten over, however they don’t surface that often.

Miki ended up awkwardly standing on the rooftop and hoping Rui would speak to them for about a week, which eventually works. The reason they were so strange about him is because they were so truly enthralled with his performances in wxs, which they are a huge fan of thanks to Emu. They’ve been to every show besides the one that went poorly in the main story. They eventually befriend Nene and Tsukasa as well, though they’re somewhat afraid of him at first due to his volume - they get over it quickly enough.

Emu-type rich. Both of their parents have high-paying jobs, so they’re rather well-off. They don’t actually understand the value of money, though, and will casually buy expensive gifts for their friends and get extremely startled when they get emotional over it. Eg, buying Atena (we will get there) a real silver necklace with diamonds worth thousands since to them that’s pennies.

Extremely clumsy. Trips and falls all of the time. Somehow has never felt any embarrassment over it.

World’s most loving person. Can and will hug everyone they meet. Also very hyper, bounces all the time. Quite literally jumps with joy.

On the flip side, goes nonverbal when they’re troubled. This is distressing to them, especially when they haven’t told the person they’re talking to that it happens. Not always - when they’re particularly upset or going through a depressive episode, it’s a fifty-fifty coin flip. They have cards, though - in school, they have a system where when they are at different levels of functioning, they put different colored cards upright. Nonverbal is orange.

Not great at school - average grades at best. They try so hard, though.

Absolutely adores pressure - both giving and receiving. They squeeze their friends, they get squished on demand by their friends and family and girlfriend.

Atena Amane (the not purple one):

!! tw mentions of drug use, abuse, suicidal ideation and attempt, very brief mention of SA - will be a warning when it comes up !!

If you couldn’t tell from the warnings, Atena is Fucked Up. She/her bisexual autism ADD.

Kamiyama student. Sixteen years old as of ensekai canon, seventeen as of jpsekai canon. Skipped a year of school when she was relatively young so she’s quite ahead, still gets relatively high grades.

Almost every Kamiyama student knows about Atena because she’s surrounded by rumors. She has a reputation and is called names which are unkind and demeaning at best - they don’t bother her, but they bother Miki.

Atena serves somewhat as a parallel to Miki, in that they’ve both experienced loneliness due to the opinions of others. The difference is that Miki can’t handle solitude, where Atena thrives in it. She can’t be hurt if she isn’t attached to someone.

She’s very poor. Her father got sick when she was nine and died when she was eleven, and her mother, Yui, works multiple jobs to keep the house running. Atena is responsible for cleaning, buying and cooking food, and other household responsibilities. Her mother is only home on Friday evenings, otherwise she comes home way past 1-2 in the morning and she’s gone by the time Atena goes to school in the morning. This further adds to her isolation, especially as she’s an only child.

Drug use warning: After her father’s death, at age twelve, her first girlfriend and her split up, and the constant trouble eventually led to her smoking weed to cope. On top of this, she picks up casual drinking, as well as dating practically anyone that would look at her.

Abuse and SA mention warning: This doesn’t go well for Atena - she ends up in many relationships that vary from boring to emotionally and sometimes physically abusive. Her halting point comes at age fifteen, with her last casual relationship. To avoid going into detail, she’s hurt badly while intoxicated.

Suicide mention warning: After that instance, she makes an attempt which thankfully is unsuccessful, though the reason this upsets her more than anything is seeing her mother's face. She decides to avoid people in general from that point on in order to not hurt her mother further after the death of her father, not wanting to leave her mother entirely alone.

Her history with relationships leads her to being entirely closed off and extremely blunt - she speaks directly with no sugarcoating, entirely monotone. She also panics when touched due to her history, and does especially poorly when squeezed or hugged without warning.

She is intrigued by Mikiso, who’s unapologetically kind and (in her opinion) abnormally respectful of her boundaries, as they obey her rules to a T. They start dating after a while, and over time with a lot of patience and reassurance she begins to unlearn a lot of the negativity she had associated with “love.” They learn to love together, in a sense - Mikiso never having been in a relationship, and Atena never having been in a truly good relationship.

Miscellaneous general trivia:

Mikiso is ambidextrous - leans more towards naturally left handed. However, after developing their crush on Atena, who is exclusively left handed, they purposely started using their right hand more. Their writing and coordination is far messier, but they don’t care as it means they can hold hands with her while doing things. Atena does notice this one day, when she catches them, doing something with their left hand, but she doesn’t argue when they stutter that they’re ambidextrous.

Atena has a dented, sticker-coated black DS lite her father bought her for her tenth birthday. It’s hanging on by a thread, but she refuses to replace it. She plays Nintendogs religiously, as well as playing tons of cheap, third party games she finds in stores or is given or that she “found” in exes’ houses. She is forbidden from playing Mario Kart, however, as she gets angry and throws things when she loses. This, for some reason, does not happen with any other game.

Atena is an incredible chef. She is also an absolutely horrible baker. The reason being, she takes recipes as a suggestion rather than gospel. This works in cooking, not baking. This led to an occurrence when making bread where she put far too much yeast and accidentally created something sentient. Mikiso sobbed when Atena killed it because it was alive and they felt sympathy for it, where Atena wanted to put it out of its misery. After this occurrence, she was not allowed to bake unsupervised.

When Mikiso wanted to talk to Atena for the first time at school, they fell flat on their face after they misjudged the distance between their back and the wall and they lost their balance. This is the reason Atena didn’t outright ignore them, as she was intrigued by the fact that they simply stood up and acted like nothing happened with no semblance of embarrassment. This is also why Atena realised she found losers very very cute.

Upon being told by Mikiso that they loved Atena for the first time, she had a panic attack. After talking about it, though, she learns that things aren’t going to change because of it. She also refuses to tell Mikiso that she loves them, as she wants to be one hundred percent certain that she feels the same and know for a fact that she means it. Mikiso finds this very sweet.

Atena is learning how to love herself through learning to love and be loved by Miki.

Atena acts “normal” around her mother - is not blunt and smiles widely. The first time Mikiso ever witnessed this, they were horrified. This also isn’t discussed again after - think Emu being afraid of Mafuyu’s fake smile.

They aren't in a unit - they're just two guys, really. Mikiso actually does have a solo sekai called the Ship Sekai (or pirate sekai affectionately - named such because the virtual singers appear only after being Downloaded Legally. They don't have a huge goal, or anything - they're literally just friends with vocaloids, and it rules. Because I like it.)

Mikiso 's birthday is June 21st, Atena's birthday is November 16th.

On This Holy Night, I Sing Event Story Summary

TL;DR: Wonderlands x Showtime prepare for the second round of the show contest. They decide on a Christmas theme to match the holiday season. However, the largest and grandest stage in the park, the Phoenix Stage, is doing the same. The troupe goes to spy on their rehearsal, only to be spotted by their diva, Seiyurin Sakurako. She doesn't see the Wonder Stage as a threat and tells them off.

However, after seeing Seiyurin's skill, Nene begins doubting her own singing abilities. The others think she's fine, but Nene can't shake the feeling. Rui believes the only thing holding her back is her fear of making mistakes after her failed middle school show.

No matter how much she practices, Nene can't seem to get over it. Emu asks about the old Nene to try and remind her of the way she used to be. This conversation leads Nene to watching some old recordings back home. Though the her from back then lacked skill, her sheer happiness to be doing shows was enough to make the performance moving. Nene realizes all she has to do is sing from the heart. The next day, she apologizes for making everyone worry and asks to sing in the SEKAI. They also meet MEIKO, a new addition to the cast.

The show went very well. Seiyurin came to watch and ended up enjoying it greatly, much to her horror. When Nene sang the final song, it began to snow for real. Seiyurin started crying and declared the Wonder Stage to be worthy rivals.

Though the Phoenix Stage remains in first place overall, the Wonder Stage managed to win that round. Everything now rests on the final show.

Chapter 1: Wonderlands x Showtime plan their next show for the contest. Currently, they're ranked third, so this one has to be incredible. Rui suggests doing a Christmas show to match the holiday season. The musical, A Merry Christmas, would follow the story of a lonely orphanage girl helping out Santa's apprentice on Christmas night. Tsukasa and Nene will both play protagonist roles. Though Nene's a bit surprised by it, everyone else is excited for her to play the heroine.

Chapter 2: Rui finishes the script when Emu comes running in, announcing that the Phoenix Stage will also be putting on a Christmas musical. The group goes to spy on their practice to see what they're up against. The troupe, stage, and audience are all much bigger than their own. They also have an incredibly talented lead singer.

Before Wonderlands x Showtime can leave, the diva notices them. She introduces herself as Seiyurin Sakurako, the best performer in Phoenix Wonderland. She's seen some of their shows before, and while she finds their direction good, everything else was lackluster. Tsukasa immediately defends both his stage and Nene. Nene tries joining as well. She leaves, and Wonderlands x Showtime returns to their own stage.

Chapter 3: Though Tsukasa and Nene are both wound up, Rui and Emu remind them the ultimate goal is a good show for the audience. Nene practices the song for the climax. Though it's good, she feels as though Seiyurin's voice is leagues above her own. Rui notices something is wrong, but doesn't think there is much of a difference between her and Seiyurin. Nene stays behind to practice more anyways.

Back in her room, Nene remembers the immediate aftermath of her failed show from middle school. She'd come to practice the next day, only to find the rest of the troupe gossiping about how she let them all down. Nene doesn't want that to happen again.

Chapter 4: The rest of the troupe is worried about Nene. Rui calls her over to hear her sing. He thinks the only problem is that she's being too careful with how she expresses herself. She just needs to relax. Nene realizes her fear from the past is what's holding her back now. Rui suggests trying to sing like she used to, but Nene isn't sure how.

After practice, Miku pops in to say hi and invite them to a Christmas show in SEKAI with a brand-new member. However, Nene declines and goes home. On her way out, she runs into Seiyurin, who antagonizes her further.

Chapter 5: With only a week until the show, Wonderlands x Showtime begin full dress rehearsals. The show is great, but Nene is still anxious about her singing. Remembering Rui's advice about remembering, Emu runs over to Nene and asks about her past.

Nene reveals that she had gone to see a play with Rui as a kid that was so incredible, it made her want to do that, too. Emu gets the feeling- she felt the same after watching shows on the Wonder Stage with her grandpa. Tsukasa talks about his similar experience with Saki and shows, too. Nene remembers singing so much it was annoying her family, but she had fun.

Chapter 6: Back home, Nene asks for some recordings of her old plays. Her skill was way off, but she was having so much fun doing it, it couldn't help but make Nene smile. She realizes then that constantly fearing mistakes isn't the right play. She just has to have fun. Nene decides to practice her song again.

Chapter 7: The rest of the troupe waits for Nene to arrive at the stage. Miku pops in to say hi, along with the newcomer, MEIKO. Just then, Nene arrives and apologizes for making them all worry, and for turning down Miku's show yesterday. She asks if she can sing for everyone over there.

KAITO and Len finish setting up the show. They need four members to sing the opening, so KAITO invites Rui to sing with Nene, MEIKO, and himself. Nene was finally able to sing from her heart.

Chapter 8: The show begins. Seiyurin had snuck into the audience to watch, impressed by their growth but still confident her stage will win. A bit with a guard (Rui) chasing Santa's apprentice (Tsukasa) on stage makes her laugh, much to her horror.

At the climax, the girl (Nene) gifts a young girl (Emu) a teddy bear. Even though the girl never got a present, the thanks she had received made her extremely happy. Nene begins her song. Rui goes to start the snow machine, but to everyone's surprise, it begins snowing for real. After the show, Seiyurin approaches Nene and starts crying. A few weeks after the show, Wonderlands x Showtime receives the scoring tallies. Though Phoenix Stage is still in first place overall, their show was the top of that round. The final show will be the true determining factor. Nene thanks everyone for their support, joking that she's gotten her own Christmas gift early. Looking at her smile, everyone else agrees.

Imagining first meeting rks being on the corridor during some lesson that rui did not attend for.. some reason idk... maybe sensed some ghostly activity or amth... and sees this weird blonde middle schooler he's never seen before sneaking around the corridors and glancing around

So he just walks up casually like "skipping classes too huh? ^^" which jumpscares tsks bc he didn't notice him (maybe rui is trying to shush him but tsks jumps away from his touch (bc rui would go through him or smth? Idk what spirits they are exactly and how this works but since its not Halloween he should be pass-through right?) (Also rui thinking his "bad reputation" reached even ms and even this random kid he's never met doesn't want to even get touched by him—*gets shot*))

Anyway tsks is like hhh noooo ofc not a star would never skip their classes how dare u insinuate that!! I'm just.. lost...??? And ruis like 🤨 you can't find your classroom then? Nd when tsks nods he's like.. scanning his uniform and like "ure searching for your classroom.. in the high school floors.... 🤨🤨" and tsks quickly looks between their uniforms and sees they're different and hes like .. yess.. exactly.. so if you could kindly point me where I could get to my... uh... math clas.... I'd appreciate it...

And idk rui points him to the right corridor or smth and they separate but rui loons after him bc this kid was kind of weird like? What's the deal? And then sees his shadow snd sees the tails on it and just goes ?!

But them tsks disappears behind the corner or smth and he doesn't get to double check the shadow but he's already entered the "I need to study this guy under a microscope" mode

Hey, saw your Prsk Unit Shuffle AU and am very interested in seeing more.

In particular, I'm interested in hearing more about how the groups formed. It's always neat to see how these characters first meet and interact under different circumstances. And, as a little bonus, maybe what their "Untitled"/theme song is, because I feel like that's a very key part of a unit's identity that tends to be overlooked.

GASP HELLO I LOVE TALKING ABOUT MY UNIT SHUFFLE AU im so sorry this too forever to get u back on!! schoolwork is a pain and then i went SHOPPING (which takes forever :sob:)

okok so i haven't really thought about all the details of how they get together? so bear with me this is a rough draft lol

SSS: the idea at the core of this group is that its a family with different strengths coming together to make music. so tsukasa is the scriptwriter, saki is the lyricist, toya is the choreographer, and kanade is the composer! the group is headed by tsukasa, who's actually been putting on these shows for all of them since he was a kid. as he got older, he started taking stardom more seriously (leading into canon), but an incident in middle school ended up with the tenmas legally adopting toya, so that definitely shook things up for tsukasa (in a good way!). so i think that (+ l/n not reforming, which does happen in the SSS main story) allowed tsukasa and saki to consider banding their strengths together, since tsukasa loved putting on shows and saki loved seeing them, but she would also help put them on for toya (and later kanade, when she joins them not long after toya does). the two of them very quickly realize that they need more hands, and although recruiting kanade as composer is easy (bc 25ji never forms- dont ask why im still figuring that out lol) toya is a lot harder bc he's still active under BAD DOGS with akito. however, with akito picking up AWR around the same time (+ hatsune freaking miku appearing to toya), toya does join under their choreographer as for their untitled, their song is Wonderland and the Sheep's Song by Hachi, but I worked out their line distributions to this lovely KYO cover! you can see my color-coded lyrics for them here if you're interested :)

R/l: im gonna be 100% honest with you SSS and AWR are the only ones with any semblance of a plot rn LOL but here's the base idea around R/l: mizuki and rui both congregate on the kami school rooftop bc, yknow, loners (mizuki is never reached out to by kanamafu, so not 25ji on their part. tsukasa doesnt end up applying for phoenix so wxs doesn't have a chance of forming). at some point, i imagine they got talking about music, but never did anything concrete. but not long into the main story (probably the very start) an also joins them, her dream of surpassing rad weekend getting weaker as she struggles to find a partner (koha will be explained later) so she goes to hang with her friend on the rooftop. at some point, mizu and an both accidentally enter sekai, where they meet miku and len. those two tell them that there's still two others they need to find because they also made the sekai. mizu and an get.... maybe a little too excited over this. an takes this chance to invite her friend haruka over to kami (so she transfers) and join the group, but in their search for their fourth member they end up accidentally alienating rui (ironic). they fix that tho-- although HOW i dont know lol their untitled was one i went back and forth on (tbh only SSS and AWR i didnt lol), but i eventually decided on Untitled Hymn by shaito! their color-coded lyrics are here (i just realized you can barely tell where an is in lines but ehhh)

ATD: okay so. ATD is the group thats given the most gosh-darn trouble. ive revised their cast motivations like, TWICE now. but basically it goes like this: shizuku and mafuyu are both members of the archery club, with mafuyu trusting shizuku so much that her public mask slips a couple of times (against her will). shizuku's not dumb, but she doesn't say anything bc i think she understands that mafu has her secrets. after shizuku quits being an idol (on more of her own terms), she still wants to find a way to share the light she had before that seemed to reach mafu a few times. enter: accidental sekai trip! this trip both gives shizu the idea for an online group (which could sorta count as MMJ but i think the big distinction is they do more streamer/vtuber stuff and less purely idol stuff?? im still working on that) and lets her see mafu with her mask fully off. eventually, shizu drags nene into the business (nene never attends kami here, workin on that) bc shizu and mafu have no idea how streaming works and nene does, but nene likes hiding behind the camera but is still a part of the group bc who can say no to shizu? and hona joins at shizu's request bc they're both beautification members (and apparently hona+mafu are both honors students so i wonder if they have some overlap?? can you tell ive never attended public school lol) their untitled gave me SO MUCH TROUBLE. because ATD is supposed to be a weird mix of 25ji and mmj? but all of their songs get swiped by either R/l, AWR, or even SSS, so it was hard to find something that i thought could be specifically them. eventually, i finally decided on Common World Domination by PinocchioP! MxC: oh boy this one's a doozy. so the idea here is like... there are underground music rings? which sounds wild but like if music is vaguely the lifeblood of this world i DONT CARE it can happen! i don't wanna make it life-threatening tho so its more like... you get blacklisted from everything. which for shiho--who got sucked into this world in an attempt to find bandmates--is VERY BAD. but shiho's given a little bit to find a band before their first performance, but with l/n definitely gone their separate ways (and she never wanted to involve them in the first place) she's kinda stuck. enter: airi and ena! both of them had been watching the music battles, unsatisfied with their current lives (airi having just quit idol/tv work, ena just frustrated over her art), but airi knows shiho thru miya, and when she heard about shiho's impending doom, she resolved herself to very quickly learn guitar and join her group, roping ena (who has a little bit of drum experience from akito and mom) into it as well. meanwhile, while all of this is going on, kohane (being the sweet soul she is) has been trailing shiho out of concern, but then is entirely horrified at the underground battles bc shes still pre-canon meek. but she really wants to help shiho, so she agrees to try and learn keyboard. after clearing the first battle, shiho and her group are safe--for now. they'll have to clear a lot more battles if they want to escape the underground their untitled is Hello Builder by UtsuP since i wanted them to have harsher rock songs than l/n (bordering on metal-ish)! color-coded lyrics here :)

AWR: funny story--all of the above units were made in the order listed! so i got to AWR and... i have ichika, minori, emu, and akito. and im like "NONE OF THESE PEOPLE HAVE ANYTHING IN COMMON". and then i went. "WAIT. THATS IT!" so here's how AWR goes: ichika still tries to reform l/n, but fails; minori is still trying to become an idol; and emu is still trying to revive the wonder stage. all three of them, all attending miya ofc, end up bonding over this and they start thinking. is there a way to satisfy all three of their dreams (band, idol, and show) at once? and at FIRST the answer is "no lol" so they go exploring. and somehow someway (workin on that) word finds out about this and some guy on vivid street dares akito to try and fix em into shape in a week. akito--being akito--accepts quite hotheadedly, then quickly realizes that maybe this wasnt a good idea?? because EVERYONE has a different music taste and its almost impossible to keep up with them all!!! but eventually they do figure it all out, and by the end none of them wanted to split apart or anything. AWR is i think the group that has the least amount of direction which might be on purpose. i think (again im rambling rn so) part of their story is figuring out what their direction is going to be! their untitled is Lip Sync by DECO*27, written as a part of holo*27 (hi no im not rlly into vtubers i just like their music) but i count it bc its written by a voca producer and this would not be the first time a non-vocaloid sung a unit song (cough cough mafumafu and tuyu). you CAN find my color-coded lyrics here.... but i did the translations. which means they're pretty much 98% google translated then bonked around to make sense. i dont know japanese please dont sue me
