I hope you're ready for some RuhnLidia ANGST!!!
This idea came to me whilst chatting with @headcanonheadcase and @highladyofillyria about the Pack Darling books by Lola Rock. Highly recommend, in case you haven't read.
I hope you enjoy a bit of a darker, more angsty take on Lidia post-HOSAB.
Read it on AO3 or below!
Ruhn heaved a sigh of relief as he loosened his tie and unhooked the top button of his crisp collared shirt. He felt stifled by the formalwear, and even more so by the event that had required it.
Lidia Cervos had been awarded the Medal of Honor for her service during the Asteri War and in the volatile time after. It was the first time Ruhn had seen her since the Eternal City. Since she’d looked at him with dark, haunted eyes and traced her fingers over the fuzz that had grown in since his hair had been shorn to his scalp.
Since she’d hurriedly unlocked his shackles and told him to run.
Lidia Cervos looked like Hel.
Her formal military regalia hung limply from her shoulders, not filled out with sensual curves of muscle and flesh like they used to be, though the silver torque still curved around her neck. Her fists had remained clenched so tightly her knuckles were white through the entirety of the presentation. Her pale, sunken cheeks were devoid of makeup and life, and her unpainted lips tight and curved into a frown. Sleeplessness had bruised the flesh under dark, dead eyes.
And her hair.
It stuck out in haphazard chunks, as if shears had been taken to it in handfuls, and there had been no attempt by her or anyone else to control it. It was so unlike the cool and collected agent he’d known, and so unlike the confident beast she’d also been.
Lidia Cervos looked like a dead woman walking.
The image, seared into his mind, made his chest ache. It fit perfectly next to the echo of her broken voice, calling to him as he built the walls that shut her out as his sister ran to another world. And both of those memories snuggled up with the feeling of her fingertips against his shaven head and his cheek as those golden eyes glimmered with unshed tears and a wordless apology rippled in the chasm between them.
Ruhn’s hand combed through his hair, which had grown down just below his chin, his fingers lingering and rubbing the ends absently as he tugged the tie clean away from his neck.
He’d just stepped into the living room, on the way to the liquor waiting in the kitchen, when a soft knock on the door stopped him in his tracks. The tingling sensation at his nape and the faint tug against his rib told him what he could’ve looked through the doorbell camera to see. And when he swung the door wide he was unsurprised to find Lidia Cervos on the other side. Her posture was straight and proud, in spite of the exhaustion in her gaze. In her black fatigues and faded black v-neck she looked almost like the female that the world had feared before they learned her truth, though even these were baggy and ill-fitting.
Ruhn didn’t know what to say, didn’t know how to greet the female who’d stolen his heart before he violently wrenched it from her hands. How long had it been since they’d been face to face? Nearly a year?
“I have something for you,” she murmured, looking squarely into his chest. His indigo gaze traced her outline, catching on the black duffel she held in her left hand. With a single dip of his chin he stepped to the side and gestured for her to enter. Lidia led him into the living room and then gestured for him to sit on the couch. She remained standing, stoic and silent, on the opposite side of the coffee table.
Then, without words or fanfare, she knelt and unzipped the bag. To the Valbaran prince’s unholy fascination, she fished out bundle after bundle of what looked like…
Hair?
Gold and auburn and onyx and chocolate brown, each handful tied with a string with a little white tag. Some were wavy, some straight and silky. One bundle was longer than his forearm, though most were considerably shorter. Ruhn leaned forward with furrowed brows, reaching for the tag attached to a fistful of blonde waves.
‘Pollux Antonius’
Holy. Fuck.
He tipped the tag of the next bundle: pin straight strands of darkest night.
‘Castor Scelus’
The Hawk.
Ruhn’s eyes snapped to the woman across from him as she stared at the macabre collection.
“I… what is this?”
“Everyone who hurt you, or ordered it. They’re all dead, save for one, though I wasn’t always the one dealing it.” Through her lashes, the former prince could see something glimmering in her stare — something dark and deranged and satisfied.
At least it was… something. But it still put him on edge.
He looked down the line, reading each tag, lungs stuttering when he read through six names that required no surname:
‘Austrus’
‘Eosphoros’
‘Hesperus’
‘Octartis’
‘Polaris’
‘Rigelus’
The Asteri.
Deep down he’d known the shifter had been involved when their bodies had been found, each with hair shorn to the scalp. She may not have dealt the final blow to all of them in the war — though she had likely killed one or two — but she had ensured their final humiliation.
The proof was there before his very eyes.
Then his attention fell upon the last bundle: the longest, still shining as if it had been spun from the sun itself. There was something unsettling about its beauty, about the urge he felt to run his fingers through it. But when he reached, he only touched the tag, and the name there sent his heart into his stomach.
‘Lidia Cervos’
When his gaze whipped back to her, they met smoldering liquid gold. Her stare was unwavering. Powerful.
“They’re all dead, save for one.”
“I never apologized to you. For the secrets I kept. For the things I did.” On a soft sigh she rose to her feet, the duffel forgotten. “You deserved so much more than I could ever give you. If I were stronger, I would have taken my own life just as I took theirs.” Her chin jerked toward the coffee table and where he sat, frozen with shock.
Lidia Cervos headed toward the door.
Ruhn stared at the grim collection of trophies strewn across the table. At the long golden ponytail that had been part of self-imposed penitence of a woman who had given all of herself. All he could hear was the echo of his name, the pounding of her fists against glittering adamant walls, the snick of cameras as she grimly accepted an honor she didn’t believe she deserved. He was blinded by her unkempt appearance and her empty gaze and the blur of tangled tresses of red and brown and black blonde.
And then… clarity.
“You remind me that I’m alive.”
It was the click of the closing door that spurred him. He leapt from the couch and reached the entryway in three colossal strides, throwing the door wide.
Ruhn’s large hand circled the shifter’s wrist before she’d made it to the bottom of the front steps, and she froze.
“Day…?” He whispered, praying that a sliver of her had survived. That would be enough — a seed that he could cultivate with comfort and love and understanding and forgiveness.
Silence.
He gave her a gentle tug, turning her body toward him. Her eyes were trained on the ground, so he palmed her cheeks and lifted her face to his.
“Lidia,” he breathed. Her name was foreign on his tongue. Rich and exotic and perfect. Gods, why hadn’t he said it before? Her eyes shot to his, wide and glassy, with the tiniest glitter of life.
That was all he needed to see.
Dipping his chin, he claimed her lips. The kiss was charged with everything he’d forgotten about how special she was — strong and capable and stubborn and beautiful. Something sparked inside him, a warm glow filling the void in his chest where she had been missing since that first day he’d shut her out.
The shifter pushed against him, breaking the kiss with a whimper.
“Ruhn… I…” she choked out before taking a shuddering breath. “I don’t deserve you.”
The Valbaran prince chuckled softly, his lips quirking into a gentle grin.
“I don’t give a fuck. You’re mine.”
He kissed her again before sweeping her into his arms and taking her inside. They had a lot to talk about. A lot of healing to do.
Ruhn was determined to make her smile again.
She’d killed for him.
Now he would bring her back from the brink.

breaking point | ruhnlidia
Summary: They wanted to break him. They wanted to make the great Valbaran Fae Prince scream and beg for their mercy. But he just wanted to make her pain stop.
Warnings: descriptions of torture, mentions of blood and injuries, swearing, I think that’s it??
Word Count: 2.5K
A/N: so I couldn’t help myself and wrote a whole ass fic for this one concept so yah enjoy :)
masterlist
Tumblr media
It was never going to be the torture that broke him.
He had heard stories and whispers of what The Hind and The Hammer were capable of. He had witnessed with his own eyes time and time again when they visited the city and everyone let them do as they please because no one dared to stand up to them.
Once upon a time, those stories and rumours made his stomach twist and bile rise in his throat. It still did. But it would not be the thing that broke him.
They could rip his nails off and break his fingers. They could shatter his bones and make him bleed dry. They could carve him open and choke him with his own fucking intestines.
But it would still not be the damn reason he broke.
She would be.

Lidia is making a return to kink after a bad experience with her ex-boyfriend and Dom, Pollux Antonius. When she walks into a meet-up at the club they frequented years ago, Ruhn immediately recognizes her. What she doesn't know is that Ruhn had always wanted a chance with her, and giving up on her was one of the hardest things he'd had to do.
Now he has his shot, but he has to show Lidia that a dynamic can be loving and fulfilling and happy. And he wants all of that.
With her.
Chapter 1 is posted on AO3!! Read it here!
This will not have a posting schedule, as it will be something like my break on the side as I work on my next longer fic. But I loved this idea, and I hope you'll love it, too!!!
Tagging all my DayNight people!

Remember that wonderful art by elizianna.the.one on Instagram? Where Lidia got a sunburn? You can check it out here!
Well, of course I had to write about it, because everything she draws is perfect and makes me want to dive into a slice of Ruhn and Lidia's life.
Aloe-ve You is a part of Tis the Season on AO3, a series solely dedicated to the inspiration derived from the artwork of elizianna.the.one!
You can check out Tis the Season here on AO3!

As much as Ruhn wanted Lidia wearing a bikini for… the rest of their lives… he also needed to get her out of the sun.
She was burnt.
She was very burnt.
“We need to get you inside, baby,” he crooned, curling an arm around her and pulling her against his bare chest. Fuck, her skin was hot against his as he kissed her temple. “You’re fucking fried.” She looked down.
“It’s not that bad, is it?”
“Oh, Lids. You’re so fucking cute,” he laughed, peppering his kisses down to her cheek. “You’re in for a world of hurt. Come on.” With a little tap to her perfect ass he encouraged her forward before bending down, scooping up their towels and Lidia’s book, and following her back to Flynn’s beach house.
When they were inside, Ruhn tried to suppress a shiver from the stark shift from the summer sun to the chilly air conditioning, and her skin prickled. Hooking her gently with his arm he walked them both to the kitchen.
“Drink some water and then sit that pretty little ass down on the couch. I’m going to get the aloe.” He leaned down and caught her lips with his. She tasted like sunlight and the coconut lip balm she’d applied earlier. Then Ruhn hustled away, bounding up the stairs to their room. He returned merely seconds later, the big bottle of green gel in one hand and one of his hoodies in the other. Judging by the way she’d pulled one of the throws up over her legs where she sat, she’d likely need extra protection against the air conditioning for her sensitive skin.
“I will admit that it’s a little worse than I thought,” she murmured sheepishly as she ran her hands over her arms. She could likely feel the heat radiating off the angry, red flesh.
“Just a little,” Ruhn chuckled, dropping himself onto the sofa cushion behind her. He brushed the wisps of fine blonde hair from her nape and leaned over her to press his lips to her cheek. “But don’t worry, baby. I’ll take care of you.” There the goosebumps were, again, and he chose to believe that this time it was because of his honeyed tone instead of the cool air.
He flipped the cap open and squirted a considerable dollop of aloe gel into his hand, snickering to himself as he envisioned what would happen next.
But at least he would warn her first.
“Okay, this is gonna be cold.” Lidia’s whole body jerked when he began slathering the calming gel between her shoulder blades.
“Fffffffuck me,” she hissed between clenched teeth. Ruhn’s laughter shook his shoulders.
“I would love to, but I think you might want to reconsider.”
“I hate you,” the blonde muttered, which only made his grin grow wider.
“That’s not what you were saying last night,” he crooned, leaning in so that his breath tickled her ear. “And this morning.”
Lidia turned her head, golden eyes gleaming as her nose brushed his. Her voice was light and breathy. “You sound mighty smug about it.” Ruhn gave a peck to the tip of her sunburnt nose.
“I’m very smug about it. I’d like to find out how much you don’t hate me right now, but you had to go and get yourself burnt to a crisp.” His lips roamed to her shoulder, the heat of her skin warming him as he murmured against the tender flesh. “What am I supposed to do now, Lidia?” Ruhn felt her body shudder, and he hooked his arms around her middle and pulled her into his lap, her back against his hard chest. When she hissed, he immediately loosened his hold.
“Sorry, baby,” he added sheepishly, scolding himself for so quickly forgetting that she’d been absolutely fried. But she was just so fucking sexy and it was so fun to play with her like this.
And he knew that she could feel the hardness of his rigid length against her perfect, round ass.
“You have a one-track mind, Danaan.” Lidia tried to sound grumpy, but the way she curled into him and laid her hands on top of his showed Ruhn that she was just as content as he was.
He kissed her cheek and then grazed his teeth over the shell of her ear. “I can’t be held responsible for my body’s natural reaction to having a luscious, scantily clad blonde in my lap.” She rolled her hips – just a little – grinding her ass on his erection and earning a guttural groan.
“Just any scantily clad blonde?” she asked, her voice lifting with expectation.
“Are there any others?” Ruhn answered, just as she rubbed against him again. “You better behave, baby, or I’ll spank that pretty little ass and make it match the rest of you.”
The pretty, woefully sunburnt blonde wriggled out of his grasp and turned, straddling his hips and laying her hands on his shoulders. “Don’t threaten me with a good time.” She leaned in, capturing his lips in a sweet kiss before tugging on the silver lip ring with her teeth. Then she leaned further, her words branding him with searing suggestion. “Why don’t you take me upstairs and finish rubbing me down, and then I’ll repay the kindness.”
The way she laughed when he hurriedly, haphazardly scooped her up and sprinted upstairs was like sweet music. The way he’d made her scream his name after was like a dream. And the way he felt as her hand squeezed him and her warm, perfect mouth sucked him dry was fucking poetry.
Clearly, he shouldn’t have been too worried about Lidia’s sunburn interfering with their fun. And, yes, he was still very smug about it.

If you know the DayNight scene, you know about Elizianna. Recently she's done a holiday series of our favorite babies, and Easter was no exception.
See her Instagram here and the PERFECT, ADORABLE art here.
Her art always evokes so much emotion and she always makes me want to write. And so I present to you something so adorable and fluffy it made me kick my legs like a giddy little girl. Please enjoy:
Bunny-Wunny
“Babe!”
Lidia could hear the enthusiasm in her mate’s voice as the door slammed, and she braced herself for whatever shenanigans that were bound to ensue. His combat boots thudded on the staircase as he plodded hurriedly up to their room on the second floor.
“Babe!” he called again, bursting into the room. He was breathless, his cheeks pink with exertion and excitement. His blue-violet eyes were glittering with a child-like light. She eyed the two large paper shopping bags in his hands.
“Hey, you,” she answered, grinning despite herself. “I see you went shopping?”
“I got something for us.” He was practically vibrating with anticipation, and Lidia had to admit that it was pretty damn adorable. “Close your eyes!”
The shifter did as she was told, content to play along if it meant she got to see that goofy smile that she loved so much. There was something that might have been rustling of fabric, and the more distinct sounds of the paper bags falling to the floor.
“Okay, open your eyes!”
Burning Solas, she had not been prepared. And it was a wonder, because this is exactly the kind of thing that Ruhn was known for.
Hanging from each hand was a fluffy onesie, one pink and one blue, each with a hood sporting bunny ears.
“You’ve got to be kidding me.”
“Aw, c’mon Lids! It’s for Easter!” He waved his arms, the dangling garments like odd, fuzzy streamers. “I even took the pink one so you could have the blue!”
“I’m not wearing a bunny onesie.” Lidia lowered her chin and gave him her toughest look, crossed arms and all.
“Babyyyyyy,” the tattooed male pouted, his lip ring glinting in the first light. He shuffled over to her and threw his arms around her, wrapping her in powder blue and baby pink fluff as he trapped her against his chest. He pressed wet, messy kisses to her cheeks and her nose and her hair as she pushed futilely against his broad shoulders. “Nobody likes a grumpy Gus, Lidia.” He finally released her and gave her the most pathetic puppy-dog eyes. “Don’t make me return them, Lids. I might cry.” When he gave a dramatic sniffle the golden-haired shifter rolled her eyes.
“I won’t make you return them. But don’t expect me to put that,” she pointed to the blue onesie, “on my person.”
Ruhn looked like he’d just won the lottery. “I have a week. I’m sure I’ll convince you.”
~~~
Lidia sat cross-legged at the end of the bed, staring at the blue onesie hanging on the back of the closet door. The pink one was missing, which likely meant that Ruhn was wearing it while he was downstairs in the kitchen. He’d plopped a loving kiss to her brow before he’d gotten out of bed, offering to make her breakfast in bed for Easter morning.
As much as she loathed to admit it, Ruhn’s constant begging and pleading about the bunny onesie had worn her down. Add to that his obvious, adorable enthusiasm, and she found herself at a crossroads. She could stay in bed in her cami and shorts and wait for him to come back up to join her.
Or she could wrap herself in that blue fluff and flop that hood over her head, scurry downstairs, and memorize his beaming face when she surprised him.
There was only one answer, really.
When she shuffled into the kitchen, Ruhn was in front of the stove. Or, at least, she assumed the towering pink bunny was Ruhn. But, of course, that stupid hood was up, the ears flopping to the side as he shifted from foot to foot, as if he were dancing to a song only he could hear.
“Morning,” she crooned.
Everything after that seemed to proceed in slow motion.
Ruhn turned, a loving reprimand likely on his lips. Until he saw her.
His eyes blew wide and his mouth stretched into one of the biggest, most heart-warming smiles she’d ever seen. He was so beautiful, and so gods-damned sweet, that she couldn’t help but give him a sheepish grin in return.
The Valbaran Prince sauntered over to her, his face shining with joy. Reaching up with both hands, he stretched the blue ears taught, so they were likely sticking up above her head. He moved them about, making them dance as she giggled. Ruhn kissed the tip of her nose.
“Who’s a cute baby bunny-wunny?” he cooed at her. Gods, he was such an idiot. And she loved him for it. She loved the way his smiles could balance her woes; his laughter, her tears. She loved that he would wake up in the morning and make her breakfast, or just hold her, or convince her to wear a ridiculous onesie with bunny ears.
Lidia sighed, trying to look as annoyed as possible, even though she was smitten. “I am.”
And then he slanted his mouth over hers.
Today is the day! I finally get to start sharing literal MONTHS worth of work with you! I hope this story gives you big emotions.
Big shout-out to @headcanonheadcase, @mystical-blaise, and @mercarimari for beta reading this monstrosity and letting me make you scream/cry/throw up as much as I could.
Be sure to follow me on TikTok (@HLizR50) for chapter teasers!!
Chapter 1: Beautiful Monstrosity
She was the spitting image of Luna, with her upswept chignon, the regal angle of her neck and jaw. As coldly serene as the moon.
-House of Sky and Breath, pg. 360
And, of course, here is a snippet to tempt you:
Ruhn couldn’t think about that. Because if he did, he might crumble. Lidia Cervos was the Hind. She had murdered Sofie Renast and countless others. She was a monster, and her seamless, perfect portrayal of the hardened Ophion agent that he had been able to soften was just another example of her unending cruelty. It was safest - for his heart and for all of Midgard - for him to remember that.
The alternative - that she was continuing to play her part to perfection while still finding a way to protect him - would be far too much to bear. To think that she would fling herself at the male she despised. Who had hurt her. That she would use her body as a shield against his sadism…
Chapter 23: Help Me Forget
Ruhn Danaan knew three things with absolute certainty:
He had smoked so much mirthroot that he couldn’t feel his face. Which was a damn shame, because there was a female currently sitting on it.
He had downed an obscene amount of whiskey, because he had no idea what the female’s name was, or how they’d gotten to his bedroom, or how he’d wound up with his tongue between her legs.
He really fucking loved his life. At least… right now.
-House of Sky and Breath, pg. 54
This is the moment we've been waiting for, y'all: when Ruhn reenacts this our favorite scene (without the mirthroot and whiskey) with his new lady.
So, in case it needs to be said, this chapter is NSFW!
With a nightmare trope in there for good measure!
“Keep going,” he snickered, earning an eye roll as she slid forward to sit on his chest. “Almost there, baby,” he crooned, winding his arms under her thighs so she would be able to continue forward. It felt like ages since he’d had a female in this position, and he had a feeling that when he finally got his head between Lidia’s muscled thighs he might simply die from the pleasure.
“Ruhn, there’s not much further I can go.” The shifter’s legs shimmied her forward a couple inches, but she stopped when her center was above his collar bones.
“Come on, baby. How am I supposed to taste you if I can’t reach?”
Chapter 18: Consider the Optics
“Have you ever been tortured? It’s easy for people to claim they wouldn’t break, but when your body is being pulled apart piece by piece, bone by bone, you’d be surprised what people offer to get the pain to stop, even for a second.”
-House of Sky and Breath, pg. 321
Welcome to chapter 18!! We're slowly making our way toward happier times!
“Listen, I need you to get over it.”
“Get over it?” With an exasperated sigh, Ruhn turned his attention to the angel who sat opposite him, his muscled body and folded wings tucked tightly against a domed window. The ocean outside was dark and surprisingly devoid of life, and the prince wondered absently where they might be. Where in the Haldren sea might there be a place where even great aquatic beasts were loath to swim. “She’s the fucking Hind, Ruhn. How can you not get that through your thick skull?”
“And she’s also one of the most valuable agents in all of Ophion,” Ruhn argued.
Epilogue
“And considering the father I have… maybe it’s good that I won’t be one. I wouldn’t know the first thing about how to be a decent dad.”
“That doesn’t seem true… You are kind, and caring. And seem to love those around you. I can’t think of anything else needed to be a father.”
Chapter 27: You Needed Time
Their breaths echoed against each other like crashing waves, and she was shaking as she held him. He lowered himself so his head rested upon her chest. Her heartbeat thundered into his ear, and even the melody of that was beautiful.
Her fingers tangled in his hair. “I…”
“I know,” Ruhn said. It had never been like that with anyone. Sex had been good, yeah, but this… He was fairly certain his soul lay in splinters around them.
I solemnly swear there will be no more angst after this! We only have two more days left!!
Lidia sighed. “I don’t know much about the concept of home,” she began, continuing her soft caress of her hand up the column of his spine. “But I believe that it’s less about the house and more about who is in it. You and Tristan and Declan… you’re family. And I think this building,” she jerked her chin toward the house, “could easily become home again, if the three of you wanted that. And if not, you would make a happy home elsewhere.”
A warmth filled her chest, and she knew it was the same for him when he smiled softly at her. It had taken some getting used to, the emotional connection between them, and she still struggled sometimes to identify if the warmth or chill that settled just behind her ribs was a result of her own feelings or those of her mate. Their link had only grown stronger, as had their affection, and though it was sometimes confusing and intimidating to her, that connection blanketed her in incredible comfort and hope.
Ruhn stepped away from her hand, grabbing it before it fell and weaving their fingers together. Then he brought their joined hands to his lips and brushed them against her knuckles.
“You’ll be there, too. You’re a part of our family - my family,” he vowed softly. Lidia’s throat tightened and burned and her eyes prickled as she stood there, awash in the intensity of his gaze and the generosity of his promise. His expression betrayed no mirth or untruth, only unfaltering belief; that he genuinely considered her family. “And you’re right. Home is where our family is. So, I suppose, we should head that way.”
Chapter 26: Real (NSFW)
He halted there, poised on the brink. “Tell me what you like,” he said, kissing her neck. “Tell me how you want it.”
“I like it true,” she said, hands running down his face. “I want it real.”
We've reached the final week of updates. I can't believe it! Thank you all for reading and commenting and supporting this work!
With her palm flush against her throat and emotion burning in her eyes she rasped, “How?”
“I had to find something to do these last couple days, instead of just sitting around and sulking,” the Valbaran prince answered with a tiny huff. Suddenly the prickling behind her eyes was overwhelming as she began to understand what he meant.
“You’ve been trying to figure out how to set me free,” she whispered through tears. “Even after I drove you away, you found a way to save me.” Her heart filled to the brim and overflowed, unable to contain the searing light of the love that he had given to her. Lidia choked on a sob, unable to hold it back any longer.
Chapter 25: Fix You
She laughed, harsh and hollow. “No. My fate is bound to his.”
“Your fate is bound to mine.” The words echoed into the darkness.
It's a big, BIG day for Lidia. We've been waiting a long time for this.
There's only one week left! Thank you all for reading! I can't believe it's coming to an end, but I hope you've enjoyed it!
Commander Kerrigan adjourned the group after wishing them luck, and when the fae prince turned to make his way toward the armory his gaze caught on a golden stare.
He dipped his chin to her, the first acknowledgment he’d given her since he’d stormed out. She looked tired, eyes shadowed. Lidia didn’t nod or speak, but her gaze was so intense and unfaltering it threatened to send him to his knees. So he continued on his path, resolution strengthening his pace.
‘I’m sorry, Ruhn,’ her voice consumed his senses and made his knees weak; so soft yet so potent that he could have sworn she had whispered into his ear. ‘Please be careful. And… please come back.’ He knew she didn’t just mean he wanted him to return from the mission in one piece. No, Lidia wanted him to come back to their room.
And, fuck, he wanted that, too.
Chapter 15: I Would Suffer It Again
Her fingers traced the bridge of his nose. The bow of his lips. Then she kissed him again, with sheer abandon, and Ruhn gave himself entirely to it.
“You remind me that I’m alive,” she said, voice thick. “You remind me that goodness can exist in the world.”
We've officially passed the halfway point! Thank you all for coming on this journey with me!
The shifter turned, pace quickening as she moved back toward the staircase. Freedom was beckoning, just a few paces away, and her heart stuttered at the thought. Perhaps she could make it. Perhaps she could have a future, a new life somewhere far away, where she could leave behind the identity she’d claimed for so long. A cabin in the woods, where she could run to her heart’s content.
