I don't get shipping Black characters with oppressive white characters. Chemistry doesn't take away the fact that the white character is/was oppressive to the Black character or other characters.

Ruby and William/Cristina had chemistry sure, but Cristina was a self serving white woman who manipulated Ruby, oppressed and threatened Ruby's family and friends and was essentially the big bad of the show. "oh but she seemed to have feelings for Ruby" doesn't make any less sociopathic or oppressive. She kept people in comas so she could change into them and was willing to use and sacrifice Black bodies to reach her goal. She was an evil white witch but yall just haaave to self insert anyway.

So what I got from this damn finale was that Christina loved Ruby enough to keep her promise not to harm Leti but had to make Ruby pay for her betrayal. I mean like I guess but jeez

I just wanna say THANK YOU for the amazing christina/ruby fic you've started because I don't think the finale will end well for Christina at all. I think it might even be her demise so your work is really helping with kinda saying goodbye to her evil but complex ass and the amazing chemistry she has with Ruby. I glued on my clown wig for this ship way too strong and now I can't rip it off in time for the finale what a mess lmaooo

Oh my goodness! Thank you. Yeah, it's been a wild ride waiting for this ship to go down in flames and I was expecting it to crash and burn much sooner! This is both better and worse than expected because it was like: "okay, they'll do the thing for a few episodes and then Christina will do something evil and hopefully Ruby will escape"--BUT THEY GOT US. Now we're going into the finale with screenshots of Christina crying and somehow I feel like an even bigger fool. What a twist! The villain genuinely caught feelings!

The fic has been bouncing around in my head for weeks, so releasing the first chapter to such a warm response has been cathartic. Thanks so much for taking the time to reach out.

Soooo.... Spoilers....

I don’t think Ruby is actually dead. I think she’s just under a sleeps spell/coma. I think that whole ‘I’ve never done it before’ was the sleep spell. I really think Ruby sees Christina/Williams more as family than Leti cause they actively give to her (Ruby) and have never really asked for anything.

Alright y’all... I’m seeing a lot of anger and back-and-forth arguments over the death of Christina, especially regarding her relationship with Ruby. I’m plugging in this friendly reminder that art is never intended to be consumed in a single way. It resonates with every person differently and we should be able to express our feelings about the show without attacking each other. Y’all are entitled to your opinion, but going after people for mourning the loss of RubyxChristina is combative and doesn’t accomplish anything. TO BE CLEAR - I wholeheartedly agree that Christina was a racist, manipulative, and irredeemable character. She’s the villain of the story no doubt about it. BUT - I can also appreciate the significance of having an interracial, sapphic, gender-bending relationship with a plus-sized dark-skinned character because we’ve never seen that on mainstream television before. So can we please stop the public shaming and allow each other to express our opinions about the show? If you don’t like something someone posts, ignore it, or find a way to express your argument without attacking the other person. We can have discourse, but let’s try to respect each other and appreciate Lovecraft Country for what it was: a radical, provocative, glorious, and timely AF show. *End Rant*
