I recently learned that, apparently two years ago, a number of concept art pieces for planned animated cartoons from the company Ruby-Spears were unearthed and put online. The images were from the 1980s, and includes a concept image for an animated Tron TV series. This in itself is of course fascinating, and yet another cancelled Tron project to add to the pile (or, in this case, a project that wasn't even begun).

However, what really got me excited is that the concept image is drawn by none other than legendary comic book artist Jack Kirby! I had actually previously imagined what Tron might look like in Kirby's distinctive style, not knowing that such an image actually existed.

As a bonus, here's a version of the image colored by the amazing artist (and Kirby superfan) Tom Scioli:

When the picture was originally put up online, it was labelled as "Teens of Tron", which might possibly have been the intended name for the planned cartoon? If so, it's a pretty goofy title.

Still, as a fan of both Tron and Jack Kirby, seeing the two combined was pretty mind-blowing to me. I have a suspicion (though no evidence) that the visuals of the 1982 film might in some small part have been inspired by Kirby's style, since I think there are some possible similarities here and there (Sark's helmet and the look of the MCP are two things that immediately come to mind).

Okay, I made this during the last couple of days of Ace Appreciation Week and I haven't been able to post it, but I'm finally here so in honor of said week, I did some of my favorite headcanons I have.

Rubi is a very kind hearted and friendly individual but she's also not the smartest

She often gets herself into risky situations if she doesn't see the danger immediately. And sometimes she's a little too friendly. Sure, making friends is great, but maybe there's some people you really shouldn't be friends with

As for lore? I'm afraid that's for later, but I'm promise I'm cooking up some great ideas!

5. Does your OC have a signature weapon and/or attack? How long did they train to master it?

Doing Kurabe again because I want to have an excuse to discuss Rubis and Grenat.

Kurabe took several years of training to master the sword and on one of her journeys, she collected a special type of magic ore that she would use to forge her twin swords, Rubis and Grenat. Because of their special properties and the idea that objects can gain a soul if they are used by a person long enough, Rubis and Grenat have developed souls with personalities based on their master.

They also have forms they can take.

Rubis is playful and somewhat flirty, often lovingly teasing others around him. He's meant to represent Kurabe's usual personality. Grenat is a silent warrior who says very little and shows very little emotion, only doing so when she's angry. She represents Kurabe's personality in combat.

Kurabe does have a special technique that she took decades to fully master: Crimson Shadow Spike. She uses magic to summon several copies of her swords to stab her opponent before impaling them herself. Unless her opponent has a stupid amount of luck, this technique will kill instantly and because of that has three seals placed on it that must be broken before she can use it:

Kurabe sees her opponent as a threat

The enemy is considered a threat to the entire planet, galaxy, or universe

Part of Kurabe's lifeforce must be sacrificed to break the final seal.
