the way justitia's love for daon grows stronger with each passing episode, as she cries with him, worries for him and feels for him — just as daon himself reaches a point where he has stopped caring about whatever happens to him, ready to throw himself into the pits of hell for vengeance. just something so tragic about this whole turn of events

i just can't get over how this is, quite literally, the brightest and happiest he has looked in this entire show — AND THEN THEY PROCEED TO TAKE THAT SMILE AWAY RIGHT AFTER
#the judge from hell#like he was so HAPPY just look at him#and minutes after he's sobbing holding bitna's body#cruel. that's just cruel😭😭😭#ru.rambles

words cannot explain what this scene did to me
LIKEEE. those smiles brimming with pure joy? the way they're holding each other? the overall warm colour grading with that gorgeous backdrop? just. everything about this. and they say romance is dead
#the judge from hell#park shin hye#kim jae young#tbh kiss scenes aren't even my thing😭as in nothing against them but also i dont exactly love them#but when they show these little moments where they smile or giggle in between the kissing? i will eat that shit up EVERYTIME#oh tjfh how i love you#ru.rambles

not sure about the love language but if this isn’t literally justitia
#i mean if leaving murderers’ dead bodies in front of your crush’s workplace counts as an act of service then...#the judge from hell#ru.rambles

funny (and ironic) how daon and justitia are both veering into dangerous territories of their own — giving in to the very thing that is forbidden in their respective worlds — because of each other and in spite of their own selves

do you just think about daon and justitia at any random time of the day and let out the most unhinged giggle ever or are you normal

the judge from hell / ep12.
oh that scene where daon walks up to justitia, hugs her, and then breaks down sobbing. my heart t.t
he’d just faced his family's and soyeong's killer, and what ensued was the cruelest conversation ever, with J literally mocking him in the face by detailing how he killed soyeong. kim jaeyoung’s performance is excellent here — the conflict, the sheer sorrow-fueled fury and rage that burns in his eyes as he comes close to killing taegyu, and yet, he can’t. this man, who so mercilessly killed his dear ones is now at his mercy, yet, he ultimately does the right thing, because he trusts justitia, and because he’d made that promise to soyeong. because he’s still a human, bound by the laws of the mortal realm, and he makes the decision to adhere to them even if every fibre in his body may scream otherwise.
which is also exactly why i love this little scene so much:
it’s something he really needed to hear, and i love that it comes from this angel who’s been watching over him for all these years — it just feels all the more fitting and beautiful.
when all is said and done, and he sees justitia there, standing in the distance waiting for him, that’s when the dam breaks — the moment where the walls come crashing down, and so do years of pent up emotions, and relief. relief that it’s over, or at least so close to it.
there are no words shared, no words needed; only silence that’s punctuated by daon’s sobs as justitia simply stands there, holding him and patting his back in a gesture of comfort. without even realising it, she, a demon, has become his safe space — an existence that he can call ‘home’, after having lost his own twice.
#the judge from hell#kim jae young#park shin hye#as anyone can tell im very normal about this show. and them#oh and if she dies he’s going to lose his home for the third time; this is sick#ru.rambles

the judge from hell / ep10.
the way she hugs him as if he's her whole world, the fear and subsequent relief in her eyes almost tangible.
this week gave us justitia at her most vulnerable yet, fighting tooth and nail to save the only being she has ever loved, the only human who has been able to breathe a semblance of life and warmth into her cold, dormant demon heart. this is the first time she is seriously faced with the possibility of daon dying, and fear hits her with full force—the fear of losing a loved one. and the first thing she does after the fight with paimon? run to daon, hug him and let him know that she is going to protect him with all she has.
also ironic how daon is the one all bloody and battered, but it's justitia's heart that seems to bleed at the sight of him this state. and then daon gently taking her hurt hand in his and slightly caressing it.. it's just all so gentle, and vulnerable, this whole scene, and my heart is in pieces again, thank you writers
#the judge from hell#istg this show gonna drive me crazy#not that it isnt already but. THEMMM. THEYYYY.#the angst in this really is so delightful#k i need to go sleep now it's almost 4 and i need to wake up at 6 lmfao#ru.rambles

bitna (justitia), a demon, getting to experience the whole spectrum of emotions because of daon, a mere human, is an absolute delight to watch
#the judge from hell#especially considering that its actively considered a HUGE no-no for demons#im having so much fun with this show#i *am* worried about the reveal of gremory's(?) actual mission though bc damn. if bitna's caught she's done for#and daon; if she can't go after justitia she'll definitely hurt/kill daon to get rid of her “weakness”#ru.rambles

the way daon’s shock and grief is portrayed in this scene is gut-wrenching in itself, but these two frames just take it to another level of soul crushing, (along with the flashback that follows).
the first one— as he reaches for her bloodied hand. if we as viewers are horrified at its sight, one can only wonder what went through daon’s mind as he sat there muffling his sobs. and the second one — the shot of his slouched back — that is not the back of a detective on duty, but of a boy who has been brought face to face with yet another inconsolable loss in his life.

the judge from hell / ep14.
the title drop !!! what a way to end the show.
easily my favorite this year — which shouldn't be a difficult feat because i haven't watched many shows in '24 but this one, man. tjfh was such a gem of an experience and i'm going to miss them so much😭.
a detail i loved this episode was how they showed the characters from the previous cases again, as justitia sees them through a completely different lens from the one she did back then — not the lens of a cold, uncaring demon, but that of an empathetic human. all of it while still maintaining her sassy demon self — the only thing that has changed is the way she views humans, the way she has warmed up towards them, the way her love for daon has extended to all of humanity there is.
that's brilliant character development right there, and i love it.
as for the ending, i'm actually surprised because they managed to wrap it up pretty well😭. open-endings are a tricky beast, but tjfh did it in a way that feels both believable and fitting for its world and the rules that it's governed by. (and also with bael being the annoying and unpredictable spider he is, lmfao.)
they've left enough room for a season 2, but i have no complaints even if the show were to just end here — they've wrapped up the major arcs, and they've ended it at a point that isn't all too conclusive. that hits the perfect spot for me.
#the judge from hell#tbh tho. i dont think i'd mind a second season bc it'll be great to see daon-bitna and all the other chars again😭#there are actually so many things i loved about the last ep and want to yap about#but also i am just😭😭😭😭😭 that it ended😭😭#LIKE WHAT AM I TO DO NOW. JUST.. EXIST?#ru.rambles
