So this is my playable dude in the save I started the other day. If memory serves, he was a game-generated NPC sim from another save that I edited a bit, liked, and saved a copy to my sim library. Whatever the case, he was in this game folder's library, and because I'm lazy af, I just grabbed him, plonked him down in one of the one-bedroom houses in a copy of my WIP Meadow Glen edit and then set his cash-on-hand to $0.
His name is Cameron and he's an Ambitious an Neurotic but Good Supernatural Fan with a Photographer's Eye. He wants to be "Leader of the Free World," but for now he's cash-poor until he manages to successfully interview for a job in Politics. I have no idea what I'm doing with this save overall -- Legacy sort of thing? Just fucking around? Yeah, probably just fucking around-- so for now he spends a lot of time...
Tumblr media
...running around town, looking for places to do this:
Tumblr media
He consigns whatever he finds that he can't use, which for now is his only source of income. When he gets some skills, he can start checking for work in rabbitholes to add to his income, but for now dumpster diving is what he has and probably what he'll have for a while. Because he probably won't get into the Politics career on his first attempt...

I upgraded my PC & am starting fresh!
I built my first PC in 2017, and the other day I basically rebuilt it!
CPU: intel i7 6700K -> Ryzen 7 7800X3D
GPU: MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X -> ASUS RTX 4070 Dual OC
RAM: 32GB DDR4 2400MHz -> 32GB DDR5 5200MHz
Storage: 250GB SSD + 1TB SSD + 3TB HDD -> 1TB M.2 SSD + 4TB M.2 SSD
What this means for my Sims 2:
While I still have all my old files on my old drives, I do not plan on copying anything over. This means, I am starting my Sims 2 Downloads folder over from scratch. So, I definitely won't be playing the game for quite some time. I am unsure if this is the end of my Veronaville - I left it in a really random spot and I was getting bored, but I am very attached to those sims so I may see if its playable with all my CC changed one day.
I can't promise I will maintain motivation and get back to the game quicky, but expect to see mod releases and videos along the way.
More info in the form of my 2024 Simming Goals coming soon.

what's ur pc specs and how do u get your virtual photography shots to look so good and hd?
These are my specs!
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 13th Gen Intel® Core i5-13400F 32 GB RAM MSI monitor - 2560 x 1440, 165Hz
I usually do the highest possible graphics settings in my games and use raytracing.
I use Otis_Inf's camera tools and reshade for my screenshots! I use the hotsampling feature, which basically will "fake" a higher resolution of your game. So my native resolution is 2K (2560x1440), but I want 4K screenshots, so I will hot sample 4480x2520 so that the outcome looks much higher quality.
I also subscribe to Pascal Gilcher's patreon to get the "ReLight" add-on for ReShade (you can add new lights to the game and place them where you want).
Using the IGCS depth of field add-on also greatly improves the quality of a screenshot :)
I have some tutorials here for BG3 virtual photography and these tools, but I use the same process for every game!

Getting nearer towards buying a gaming pc.
I hope one week reading, comparing, informing, and bothering my online bestie was worth all the pain in my brain.
Gonna show the list a work colleague tomorrow. Wanna know what he thinks about it as well. (He's a 3D artist and has def more knowledge about pc parts than I do)
If all is fine i'm gonna start buying all the components together within Dec-Jan. Gonna start with the most expensive: MSI RTX 4070 Ti Super Ventus asdfcgvhbjk

I think I'm done testing the pc now, it's been a week without any issues. I still feel the anxiousness about it lingering every day but I'm hoping that will start to dissipate day by day now that it seems to be working as it should. Finally got around testing with bg3 + a bunch of other things running, and that was a nice thing to witness. I think bg3 is the "heaviest" game i have on hand to test with, and i still have it in recent memory how it ran on my old pc to compare. My old pc could barely run it on lowest settings with the temps hovering in the 80's even with the side of the case entirely off, during winter when my room temp is below 20C. This thing runs it at max settings at steady 50C during a heatwave when it's 25+ in here as well. Aside from the momentary spikes while loading scenes as usual, but didn't notice any of those go beyond 70 either. Which to me seems pretty good for a setup that "is going to run very hot" according to many. The case still has space for extra fans at the top as well if i ever need a little more wind in there. My old machine served well for 8 years, so here's to hoping this can do the same now that it works. Specs under read more for anyone curious

Thank you so so much for letting me share this with you and for your feedback ❤️!! So, my idea is that the gaming PC should be able to play all current and upcoming games on very or ultra-high settings without any issues (e.g. Alan Wake 2, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West, etc.), be silent and not overheat quickly and have good airflow, and have space for expansions and/or upgrades.
Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow RGB Edition, glass window, white CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 8x 4.2GHz, 96MB L3 cache or AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D, 12x 4.4GHz, 128MB L3-Cache => I'm a bit indecisive on which one here. Mainboard: Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX, AMD B650 Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 12GB, Gigabyte Aero OC RAM: 32GB DDR5-6000 Corsair Vengeance RGB, 2x 16GB, white SSD: 2TB Western Digital Black SN850X, read up to 7.300 MB/s Power supply: 850W Corsair RMe 2023, fully modular CPU cooler: Corsair iCUE H100i RGB Elite, white, 240mm
It's a bit on the pricey side, but I'm willing to order it if it can do well and I don't need to upgrade it in a bit, especially, because I don't think there'll be many more games with higher graphics as there are currently.
Hey love, that's a kickass build!!! I would go for the Ryzen 9 7900X3D instead. Simply because it's stronger and this is a purchase that should last you for a few years. Series 7 is great but there is a 10% more chance for a bottle neck.
My rule of thumb is always to go a bit over with the PSU because if your PSU dies, then it can take your entire PC with it. (It happened to me once, and it was painful!!!) Having said that, I think the minimum for 4070 RTX is 750W, but I would go with 900, perhaps just to be sure. It's not a must.
As for RAM. Go for 64. They are not that expansive and also DDR5 are incredible. I have the Vengence as well :).
