hi saw u like to bake/cook, do you have a top 5 things you like to make?

Hi Acey! To be honest, I don't think I really have a top five? I can make a mean pasta dish (Lasagna especially) and I'm always down to make new pasta recipes (I literally just tried a, like, Southwestern chicken alfredo yesterday? Delicious, filling and cheap to make) and I can make a really good chili too? I don't know why I'm drawing the biggest blank beyond that. Most of the desserts I make are very basic though LMAO. I can make a Black Forest cake! I can make a good brownie, good chocolate chip cookie, good chocolate cake... Food Network definitely wouldn't hire me, but I have fun and I do get compliments on my stuff, so it's what counts to me. :)

oh good to know!! i haven't looked on Hulu much for Halloween stuff, mostly Netflix and Max. I'll have to look through their catalog!

Why I started watching it: actually it tokk me a while?? because it featured children and I didn't want more children but then I found out there were powers and alternate dimensions and I am a hoe for alternate dimensions

3. what’s your favorite emotion to write?

longing, pining, yearning, that sort of thing. my favorite is writing characters who want what they can't have (or don't know they can have it, or even that they have it already) and just being really melodramatic about it.

9. describing people or settings?

settings, always. though right now i'm only writing fanfics, so you already know the characters/what they look like (unless i throw in an oc of course; though even when i do, i tend to leave most of their appearance up to imagination) but usually the only time i'll reference a character's appearance is when describing their expressions or if the narrating character is taking a particular notice of something. like in roommates pt1 where steve keeps noticing argyle's hands, or eyeliner steve 1&2 where eddie is fixated on steve's eyes.

if i'm describing appearances i'm just doing key details, basically, or how they are looking instead of what they look like.

environment, on the other hand, is very important to me! it can set or change the mood of everything. i specifically love to mention the way the light hits (and whether it's sunlight or artificial, warm or cool, dim or bright, etc. EVERYTHING has an impact) or if there's any background noise, or even smells (not necessarily bad!) i think smell in particular is a sensation neglected in writing but it can add so much!!! i will get carried away if i don't stop now.

12. Describe the last meal you included in your WIP/most recent story.

um, anyway, the last time i've mentioned food as of rn is in the drafts for roommates pt2, which i'll just give you a snippet of here:

The moment he opens the door, he’s met with the smell of breakfast—likely Jonathan’s cooking, because Argyle never wakes up this early and Robin’s cooking almost always resulted in something being burnt.  To his surprise, it’s Chrissy in the kitchen when Steve makes his way over to lean his elbows against the island next to Robin. She’s got her head down, scrawling lines onto flashcards and glancing at her laptop in front of her every few minutes, plate of pancakes left half-eaten. Slowly, he grabs her fork off the plate and steals a bite, but she hardly even looks up from her notes.  “You done with these?” Steve asks even as he’s sliding the plate toward himself. Robin only nods; Steve knows this state of hyperfocus she gets into sometimes, so he decides it best to leave her alone for now.

i don't think any of my retail jobs gave me holiday pay for holidays we're open if we're having That discussion. their excuse was "shorter hours" so we'd be open, say, 10-3 rather than 9-9 or something and so you only had a 6 or 3 hour shift so you shouldn't get holiday pay for such things.

Oh yeah, I've heard of stories where companies try to work around giving you holiday pay by scheduling you on a shorter shift on that particular holiday (like let's say you work a 4 hour shift and the person who comes in to take your place is also scheduled 4 hours instead of just giving you a full 8 hours for the day) and/or just cutting your hours for the entire week to make up for that one singular day in which they gave you holiday pay. Like, the discussion of holidays and holiday pay is very much a 'Here's how most companies are scummy capitalist SHIT:' TED talk topic to me LMAO.

1. What’s your favorite part of the writing process?

I don't know if it counts, but having something to reread that caters to my specific desires... top. Also when an idea comes to you that just makes so much sense on the story and you're like "oooh yeah that's good, I'll add that" :)

17. Do ideas come to you in pieces or full?

Pieces mostly. Sometimes I get interactions, sometimes I get scenes. But a whole thing?? Not how the old brain works lol

10. How do you decide what to write?

i have no shortage of ideas so it's usually just what im more excited about. though sometimes i'll just get a wild burst and put down a whole lot of words on some off the wall ass idea (if only i could just finish them fhjfgkd)

45. What’s something you’ve improved on since you started writing fic?

the first fics i ever wrote were in 2011 (on quizilla, we've talked about this) but they don't exist anymore so i don't have any way to go back and see how good/bad they were. however some fics i wrote in 2012/13 do still exist and i did go back and re-read them a while ago (but the link i found to them was in the inbox of my old personal blog which i deleted) and i did notice a huge improvement! mostly in grammar. i do actually know how to use an em dash and a semicolon now. those days i was just vibing with the punctuation and....gotta be honest, it wasn't good. i feel like i'm better with pacing now too, and actually showing how the characters are feeling instead of just having them jump at each other.
