Had a long but fun filled weekend visiting beautiful #RoyalFlorida. Reuniting with new found friends there, discovering members of my family I never knew existed, partaking in the Annual Community Celebration of Royal's establishment back in the late 1800's and indulged in Authentic African-American cuisine made from scratch. Man.... oh man I had a blast! Through researching #History #AfricanAmericanHistory I discover I've family that were FREED SLAVES there in Royal who were one of the original settlers that owned and still do today 40 acres of land. Not ever seeing or met the family I researched and found living in Royal that could possibly be related to me. For the first time meeting them With open arms they invited my family to their #Plantation & immediately started calling us #Family. The #Reunion that took place had answered many of questions I've had as a child "were WE AS A PEOPLE - #Nigros #Coloreds #Blacks #AfricanAmerican more than JUST #Slaves?" My visit to The #CommunityOfRoyal located in #SumterCounty #Florida was documented both Saturday & Sunday.
