Parodist Roy Zimmerman Warns Americans on “Grifters of Putin”

- “The GOP is working furiously to make the world unsafe for democracy,” he sings

Serious times call for serious songs. So parodist and comedic songwriter wrapped a strong warning in the otherwise-playful “Grifters of Putin.”

Republicans who used to be Cold Warriors/are siding with a Russian autocrat/to put Trump in the White House for four more years/and maybe forever after that, Zimmerman sings.

Arranged to resemble a show tune, dedicated to the memory of Alexi Navalny and accompanied with an illustrative video, “Grifters of Putin” makes references to Neville Chamberlain, Adolf Hitler and the lying Republicans who are working furiously to make the world unsafe for democracy, as Zimmerman puts it.

Grifters of Putin/they’re not Isaac Newton, he sings under images of Katie Britt, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Mike Johnson and others.

Listen to Roy Zimmerman. Not only might you learn a thing or two, you might also get a chuckle out of it. And goodness knows, laughter is necessary in these decidedly unfunny times.

Released with an accompanying video that uses Dump’s own words against him, Zimmerman’s latest parody of “The Lion Sleep Tonight” features a cross-section of America joyously begging the authorities to lock him away as Zimmerman sings:

The song funny. But it’s so sad that it’s come to this.

Sean Esbjörn-Hargens, PhD, is Dean of Integral Education at the California Institute for Human Science and Program Director of the MA/PHD program in Integral Noetic Sciences which has an optional concentration in Anomalous Studies.
