Let's do this for the cast of Arrows of Nightfall (:

Asrius is a very good hunter, which is mostly due to his talents in archery and tracking, something that has allowed him to survive the frozen wastelands known as the Godscars, especially since the captain of his battalion is infamous for cutting down his soldier's ration supplies.

Quinne grew up in the ruthless lands of the Eastern Archipelago, or the Wraith's Maw, a cluster of islands torn by their war against the Therassi Empire, which wants to conquer them. During his childhood, Quinne suffered an accident when he fell into a ocean war-trap, after rescuing a juvenile leviathan snared by it. The trap slammed shut and scarred his legs irreparably leaving him dependent on his inventions to facilitate his mobility. Still, Quinne never let that hinder him.

Taelli, a brash young wildling woman from the tribes that wander the Godscars beyond the imperial reach, has halo-like horns and bright, almost eerie glowing turquoise eyes, as well as an affinity to wyldmagic, as most members of the "Waste Hunter" tribes do. Completely unrelated but she also has a pet albino snake.

Vash gained the power and influence he has over the Sky Islands (the ruling Islands of the Eastern Archipelago, ones not bound to the sea like most of the other islands in the archipelago, but rather floating in the air) through sabotage, blackmail and seduction, rising out of the slums he was born in by becoming a courtesan to the higher circles, and then using the information he stole or earned from those clients to steal their influence and secure a position of power where he could ensure his and his younger sister's influence.

Rowen became a thief after his family succumbed to the plagues, famine and conflicts born from Imperial King Casimer's absurd tax collection rates and warmongering into other kingdom's lands. When the story begins, Rowen - and his found family of best friends, who are like siblings to him - get by stealing cargo from imperial caravans and patrols, but deep down, Rowen harbors a strong desire to fight back more directly against the king.

Gwynavere, Lady of House Sthera, born in the kingdom the lies beyond and beneath the mountains hidden by the Godscars, is an advocate for peace who also wants revenge on her aunt - who betrayed the hidden kingdom by giving information about its main stronghold to King Casimer, her aunt's lover.

Well, so here I am ready to write down some random ffbe merman!au because I kept thinking about this for the last few days XD (this all was inspired by merman Welly of @tuensartpages, that drawing is really cute!) OK, so in this universe Lasswell is the Prince of Hess (a kingdom on land) while Rain is Prince of Aldore (kingdom under the sea). And Rain spends most of his time sneaking out of the castle, wandering around in the sea and slacking off. One day Lasswell sees Rain relaxing on a reef near the shore and falls for him at first sight. He could easily go talk to him, right? Nope, he just admires him while hiding and thinking about how to approach him. In the end, he decides to look for someone able to turn him into a merman. So he finds two potion makers (that I imagine being Citra and Sakura, don't ask why) that give him a potion that does just that...with some side effect because it's still an experiment: the effect lasts just 7 days and Lasswell loses his voice (yea, kind of the little mermaid, but reversed) Still, Lasswell meets Rain and somehow makes him understand that he's human, Rain thinks he became a merman because of a curse and sets off to find someone to break it for him, obviously carrying Lasswell with him, and grows closer and closer to him. Lasswell has the time of his life going around with his crush and doesn't notice that 7 days have passed and nearly drowns. Fortunately Rain brings him on the surface on time. Then Lasswell, human again and with his voice back, explains everything and confesses, and Rain says that's OK, he likes him too. And here end my ramblings...for now because I have actually thought about some other things but didn't want to make this too long XD Anyways, hope you enjoyed this ^-^

💐 Shadow and Rowen and Dabi and Rowen!

Send 💐 and a ship name for a few headcanons I have about it!

shadow & rowen:

-rowen reminds shadow there’s still kindness in the world, even if sometimes he can’t see it. 

-shadow helps rowen through their panic attacks. 

-rowen’s heard shadow laugh before and it was music to their ears. from then on they’ve been trying to get shadow to laugh more often and it (sometimes) works. 

-shadow enjoys cuddling with rowen and lying on their lap.

dabi & rowen:

-they both understand they have SHITTY DADS and often bad mouth the other’s father. as much as possible. because why the hell not???

-rowen’s used their quirk on dabi a handful of times to get him to fall asleep, because sometimes he NEEDS IT.

-dabi enjoys showing rowen around the city at night. sometimes he has to use a disguise but he doesn’t mind much. 

-rowen kisses dabi’s scars, and dabi kisses rowen’s freckles.

Fic Writer Questions

Thank you so much for the tag @in-arlathan 💕 this is definitely the first time I’ve had to think about things like this - this is going to be fun!

I personally don’t know a lot of writing friends on Tumblr (because I’m very new to the world of fic writing - well, writing in general 🤪) but I’ll tag whoever (even though I think most are strictly artists?)

I’ve cropped my answers for the sake of people’s feed 👇

1. Do you enjoy the occasional trope? Do you enjoy them all? Or do you hate tropy stuff with a passion?

Firstly, I hope the tropes I mention are actually tropes (but apologies in advance if I what I ramble on about isn’t officially a trope). But I guess I don’t mind the occasional trope but normally it would be nice to have a story without it - I like surprises and unexpected events. I guess as a teenager I loved your Boy-Meets-Girl tropes a lot, but now I honestly hate them. Predictability in a story, to an extent, is a mood killer for me and I find myself bored. I know it’s hard to expect writers to essentially “reinvent the wheel” when it comes to writing unpredictable and trope-free stories, so I completely understand how some tropes are almost hard to avoid but if a story is solely reliant on tropes then I’m not interested.

2. Which tropes are you favorites? Which ones do you avoid? Have you written any yourself or is there one you really want to write?

Favorite Tropes: I don’t know the “official” name of tropes but I will just describe them as best as I can in no particular order :)

Opposits Attract: From the top of my head I think of Hermione&Ron, Monica&Chandler, Ross&Rachel, Repunzel&Flynn and Bull&Dorian when it comes to this particular trope. I think so many REAL relationships are between two people who are so dissimilar in a lot of ways. That the weaknesses in the one character are the other character’s strength (e.g. one is disciplined and the other isn’t). One relationship I wish happened canonically is Zuko&Katara from Avatar. In saying that, when two characters who are so grossly different get together then that’s something I struggle to wrap my head around as it feels forced and unnatural. But if done right, you know that those two lovers are together because of how REAL their love is for one another despite their differences, and that they aren’t in for what they “get out of it” and how “easy it is” - they’re in it because they love each other so truly and accept all the good, bad and ugly in between.

Star-Crossed/ Lovers in Denial: I guess it goes without saving for me (being in Solavellan hell and all) but having two characters fall in love almost against their better judgement and how they deny their feelings for so long is something I really enjoy. And guess what? All my examples from the top of my head are all Dragon Age ones 😅; Loghain&Rowen, YourWarden&Alistair, Hawke&Fenris and Trevelyn&Cassandra are relationships that blossom without at least one of them looking for it and how it catches them off guard. And when they do finally admit their feelings its a really big, spontaneous and passionate moment. However, I hate it when they deny their feelings for too long - in this case I’m talking about Blackwall’s romance as an example. When I watched Blackwall’s romance, I got really frustrated with his constant “No, I can’t” that it really made me want to scream lol. Oh! Just thought of another one that isn’t a DA related; Elizabeth&DrDarcy :)

The Underestimated: I enjoy seeing a character underestimated and then proving everybody wrong by being the most powerful, strongest and most incredible one in the room while everybodies mouths are agape. But not by turning into the bad guy, but by simply showing the others that they shouldn’t be underestimated. I think of Toph, Aang and Solas in this regard. And even better, is when the characters don’t need to “show off” their power. I loved how with Toph she was the most powerful Earth Bender but was the smallest and youngest person in the room, and everybody she met underestimated her! And with Aang being you know... the most powerful person in their world and is merely a child. Then of course, we all know Solas’s story: creating the Veil, that Mind Blast in Trespasser, petrifying people to stone, killing dwarves in their sleep and having his Dread Wolf form living in the Fade... yeah. Total sucker for underestimated and not-your-typical powerful character.

Tropes I Avoid: Again, don’t know the “official” names and from the top of my head :)

The Dumb Blonde: Whenever I see a superficial, stupid blonde woman I get really mad. I actually take it personally as I was called a “dumb blonde” myself growing up for simply having blonde hair. I’m sure you’ve heard of “blondes have more fun, but brunettes remember it the next day” joke and omg... it Really. Grinds. My. Gears.

The Mirror in a Horror: I almost never watch horrors, but whenever I see anyone stare into a mirror, open the cabinet and then close it to find somebody suddenly standing behind them, it really makes me roll my eyes back into my head. Look, I still close my eyes because I can’t hand jump scares (even when I know they’re coming) but even still... lol

The Hero Survives: Perhaps an unrealistic expectation, but whenever a story has the blatant knight-in-shining-armor hero, you know from the beginning that they aren’t going to die. That’s why the Red Wedding made me question everything I knew lol. It was totally unexpected! But when you get to the end of a movie and the hero is fighting the bad guy; at first the hero is winning, then the bad guy gets the upper hand and they (the creators) try to fool you into thinking the hero will die (aka the Bad Guy Monolauge) but then suddenly the hero fights harder and wins... ugh... However, I’m not saying the hero must always die, but I like the idea of the hero dying and somehow surviving quite unexpectedly. I think of Ciri from the Witcher: Geralt (and you) totally thought she died but she didn’t! Also, Harry Potter - he died but then also managed to survive!

The Good-Guy to Bad-Guy: I can’t stand the origin of a lot of your “typical” bad guys. This is kind of linked to “The Underestimated” trope I like, but I can’t stand it when they use it as the “explanation” or “excuse” of why the bad guy is the antagonist . I think of Ursula from the Little Mermaid, Hades from Hercules and Maleficent. I think the creators are perhaps trying to get you to sympathize with them (and I do feel sorry for Corypheus, but that’s another post lol), and their origin stories do tug at the heart strings, I just get frustrated with characters who choose to take the “evil” route when they are underestimated, treated poorly or bullied. I guess because in reality there are so many different ways one can deal with being treated poorly other than being a horrible person but yeah... Simultaneously however, what’s the solution? Where should antagonist’s come from? What should their origin story be? And honestly, I don’t actually have a solution XD I guess it depends on the origin story and what caused them to “turn bad” for it not to bother me so much. Because usually you can smell the antagonist a mile away when stories do this.

“American” High Schools: What I mean by this, is that I’m sick and tired of the main characters in high school movies or shows falling into the “jock”, “nerd”, “cheerleader”, “geek”, “perve”, “virgin” or “bullied” category. Especially - ESPECIALLY - the Jock & Cheerleader teasing the protagonist and the protagonist usually being in love with the Jock’s Cheerleader Girlfriend, and then his best friend being the flamboyant, funny one... just no. NO MORE. As soon as I see any TV show or movie use this trope as it’s main “hook” I avoid it like the plague. I understand that perhaps there are a lot of high schools where people perhaps do “fit” into one of these categories but I’m sorry, people are far more complex than that and they are more than just being “the jock” or the “cheerleader” or the “geek”. And of course what goes with all of that is the typical choice of dress, talk and attitude associated with falling into those categories: your “jock” with his jacket, the “cheerleader” with her short skirt, the “geek” whose awkward and wears glasses. Just... enough. That’s enough.

Rain at a Funeral: I don’t think I need to elaborate on this lol

Writing Tropes: I haven’t actually thought about writing anything other than my Halla & Wolf series right now but perhaps if I had to think of a trope I wouldn’t mind tackling, it would be a Lovers in Denial one. I want to write characters that really hate each other in the beginning but are forced to interact and overcome certain obstacles with the help of the other, and then they see other sides to that character they weren’t expecting to see and then they fall in love almost begrudgingly. But then their love is so passionate and real that you can feel how true it is in your bones because of how they got there. Just like if Zuko&Katara got together. Their story and how I think should have ended would be a great source of inspiration for me should I write something like that.

3. Do you have different preferences for reading than you have for writing? If so, is there a reason for it?

I’m currently reading through the DA books in chronological order (I’m currently on Last Flight) and the last time I read anything prior to that was all of Meg Cabot’s books - which was like, 10 years ago. But I think that the type of books I enjoy reading are fantasy ones and after the Little Women movie, I really want to read the book now. And I also loved reading Jane Auston’s books. But it’s hard to answer this one because I haven’t written anything other than my Halla & Wolf series and the last time I did attempt at writing my own stories was when I was like... 12? Hehe

Let’s ramble about: My Tags

So I mentioned in my first post that I have a smattering of umbrellas I operate under, and many of my future posts will feature tags specifying which umbrella any given post falls under. So let’s take advantage of talking about some of those tags to give y’all a little snippet as to what they’re about! Starting off with the ones that aren’t my primary projects!

#lets_ramble Anything titled like this where I’m just going on an unplanned ramble about junk. Might cross with other tags.

#dnd This one I’m sure a lot of people on this website will be familiar with. I have played DnD on and off most of my life and quite a bit more in the last year. I’ll likely make a few posts about some of my characters soon for funsies and simplicity. 

#tysaria This is a sub-tag of DnD. I’ve been working on my own setting for a while, because I can’t do simple things I guess. #fanfiction I’m not sure how much I’ll use this tag while I build my confidence, but yeah, I dabble in fanfiction here and there. Some of the OCs I’ve made through my fanfiction work have actually become characters in my primary projects, so you might see that tag alongside some of my other projects.

Now for my actual primary projects! Also, yes, I write about super powers a LOT... Let’s list in order of age, I suppose: 

#rus In the world of Rus, Mages are those born with natural powers over the magical elements of the world (fire, water, electricity, etc.). As far as the public at large is concerned, Mages are the subject of public ridicule, superstition and paranoia, as their powers often come with too great a risk to reward ratio. It is not uncommon for natural disasters to follow in their wake, and every storm or forest fire is often underlined with whispers blaming Mages. The recent rise of a growing faction of Hunters, fed by these superstitious beliefs, has thrown the kingdom of Nal into a quiet but tumultuous war.  Originally from a forum roleplay I made with I was, like, eleven, and revamped last year to be a little less edgelord-y and cringey. 

#demonds An alternate Earth sees more than 80% of the society featuring a variety of powers, anywhere from control of elemental forces to communication with technology, psionic gifts to feats of superhuman strength and speed. The story focuses around the school of Demonds’, one of many schools focusing on the control of more extreme powers... and in this case, temperaments. Think of Demond’s as the juvenile detention of superhuman teens, though since it’s original creation Demond’s has massively expanded to encompass far more settings all the way to space travel.

#rowen All who live are connected by the River of Souls by the Threads of Power. The river flows into the world through the Source Gate, represented as a living god in the form of the Source. As it passes into the world, each thread separates from the river and passes into the Source’s closest council, known as the Marked, before passing into the rest of humanity. The Source, always a woman, and the Marked, are born on the cusp of their predecessor’s deaths, and are normally the subject of worship- until the last Source brewed the world into a two-decade long war. Her death has torn holes in not just society, but the basic rules of the universe, starting when the next Source turns out not to be a babe as is the usual... but an unfortunate girl torn back from the edge of death, Rowen Bray.

#kaiser Kaiser Haggens is the leading scientist on the God Particle. The Particle that might couple with a child in utero and grant them powers beyond belief (well not really, as the rules of science still apply, a fact Kaiser holds dear), or if it comes in contact with adults or another Particle... might just shred you apart at an anatomical level. Certain experimentation with the Particle is outlawed, considering its destructive potential- but Kaiser believes this is a discredit to the scientific community. 

#voi The least developed project thus far, based on a dream I had once. When humanity entered the galactic community, they learned of a single alien race that was the subject of fear for all other intelligent species: The Juultah. Tall, carnivorous aliens with little regard for the lives of other intelligent species, the Juultah eventually met humanity in conflict. To the amazement, horror, and yet appreciation of the rest of the galactic community, humanity came out on top, leaving extermination in their wake. Four centuries later a scavenger from another alien race (haven’t named them yet) going by the name Ulrich, has accidentally awoken a Juultah frozen in space... except she’s hardly the aggressive carnivore expected. In fact, all she wants is friends.  Taaaada. Maybe I’ll start off in my next posts talking about DnD before breaking into how much of a complicated mess some of my creative projects are. Demond’s might look like it has a short description... but it is a decade long project that has taken off on a number of branches. If I even try to summarize all of it, it’s still going to take a whole introductory pamphlet on its own.
