Imogen, to me, has the same thing going on that makes Jean Grey such a difficult character to get right (and tbh, to engage with). A lot of people who have written Jean Grey over the years don’t get her or how to do stories with her, in my opinion. But a character like that can be fascinating, if approached with honestly based not in metaphor but in the universe in which she exists.
Because yeah, it sucks to be her but you’re not doing the character honestly or interestingly if you’re not also grappling with the fact that she is scary, and dangerous, and it’s reasonable to be frightened of her or worried for your autonomy around her. And on top of that, she's dealing with her own curiosity about her powers, and occasional hubris. And while this curiosity and sometimes recklessness is understandable and incredibly interesting to watch and engage with (from my perspective it's what makes me enjoy characters like this, because it is such a compelling flaw), these are also not neutral actions without consequences even as they are also understandable and even in some sense relatable.

I didn't plan to save the fhjy episode for Easter Sunday but it is feeling both oddly appropriate and so far removed all at once

losing my whole mind over this fantasy high: extra credit episode from late 2019 where they take a dive out of nowhere into the characters they'd wanna see in a "haunted fairytale" setting
what if neverafter but pinocchio was actually rip van winkle who was actually rumpelstiltskin (and sleeping beauty was mother goose's son)?? i have many thoughts

I know it’s probably not on purpose, but Sherlock in Sherlock & Co reminds me more of Basil of Baker Street from The Great Mouse Detective (1986) than any other offshoot or iteration of the Sherlock Holmes character.

"Gizmo" vs. Guillermo
I don't have a super deep analysis here, I just want to get this out of my brain so I can think about other things:
I find it FASCINATING how the name Gizmo lives in this show and in the fandom.
"Gizmo" is clearly disrespectful to Guillermo. It's a mix of "I don't care about you enough to know your real name" and the classic racist move of "Your name isn't anglicized enough for me so I'm going to change it to something more comfortable for me."
Being disrespectful like that isn't really all that surprising from the vampires, because they're... well they're vampires. They don't give a fuck about humans, and that extends to familiars with the added mix of "you're also in our face all the time and that makes you twice as annoying."
But what's interesting to me is that, then, the name "Gizmo" travels into fandom. But in fandom it's affectionate. Gizmo isn't said as a lazy and disrespectful name replacement. It's said like a nickname given to a brother or cousin. It's said with love and affection and kindness. So the effect is totally different.
And to me that shit is absolutely fascinating. It shows the inherent flexibility of intent. It's also a really interesting example of how this fandom manages discourse very differently from other fandoms.
It's just fuckin' interesting, man. I love it.

exhausted the music I like listening to so to pass time at work I've started listening to cast recordings of musicals I liked in high school. Which is fun because I haven't listened to them in a while but also not fun because I have come to the realization of just how much influence stuff like Heathers, Be More Chill, and fucking Hamilton has on my writing to this day

omg this has been bugging me for SO long bc the translation of washijo’s line in the anime is so different than the official scans. these screenshots are taken from a fan translated rough scan from when the chapter first released yeeeears ago, where the official translation has his line as “if you’re gonna have a campfire, bring marshmallows first” and the anime line as “if you’re gonna get caught staring at least stare at a girl.” the line in the official manga translation takes into account the context of a panel before where michimiya says “it’s a campfire :o!” from the crowd but then i always felt like tendou laughing at goshiki agreeing kinda doesnt reeeally hit as a joke. then on the other side, the anime omits the tiny context blurb of michimiya watching and saying “campfire” so instead of keeping the line about volleyball they translate it to kinda ONLY be about the ‘looking at a girl’ idea which does make tendou’s laughter make sense BUT then it also didnt really hit for me bc like, why is he suddenly yelling now and not relating it at all to volleyball. basically ive felt like i was missing something the whoooole time so i finally looked up fan translations out of curiosity and this make so much more sense. IT HAS THE REALY VOLLEYBALL CONTEXT/COMMON TERMS ANDDD THE JOKE FLOWS
*(campfire/husband-and-wife is when two players both think the other is gonna get the ball so neither of them move and they are both left just kind of staring at each other as the ball comes down between them and they lose the point)

did the one voice sound like either minori suzuki or nao toyama
I just want you to know that I've spent something like 10-20 minutes going insane cross-referencing the names of the horny alter band members' voice actresses with characters they voiced whom I might have recognized, jumping back and forth between this random ass fandom wiki I picked, before eventually finding out that it had listed the name of the singer who does the singing voice for this character, who is otherwise voiced by a different person. Anyway the one I was thinking of is Ami Koshimizu

Someone on one of the Sky subreddits made a post asking if the Bereft Veteran's memory is of his son dying in battle, and instead of answering someone in the comments started quoting that song from The Last Airbender.
