Leo is having troubles sleeping and wanders into Donnie's lab.

 Footsteps echoed throughout the lair, the night would have been silent if it weren’t for the sound of pipes dripping, Donnie working in his lab and Leo’s footsteps. The oldest and youngest brothers were sound asleep as well as their dad, leaving only the two middle children awake. Leo pushed the curtain leading to the lab to the side, entering trying to keep quiet. He looked at Donnie’s battleshells as he passed by them and the sounds of Donnie working on something echoed throughout the lab. “Who is it?” Donnie asked, not taking his attention off of his work. Maybe he should’ve made an effort to see who it was incase of an attack considering everyone was asleep and he had his battle shell off but that didn’t even seem to cross his mind. “Leo.” Donnie pulled up his goggles and turned to look at Leo, he was hugging a pillow and wearing his blue pajamas with his sleep mask above his eyes. “Can’t sleep?” Leo shook his head. “Alright, pull a chair over.” It had become a routine that Leo came into Donnie’s room nearly every night being unable to sleep and wanting company, at first Donnie turned him away but he began getting used to it as Leo always sat to watch Donnie work and kept surprisingly quiet other than simple conversation. Leo took a seat and rested his head on the table, still hugging the pillow tightly. “What are you working on?” Donnie pulled his goggles back down over his eyes. 

“I’m working on a piece to upgrade that drill, to make it more useful.” 

“Not just for cool entrances anymore, huh?” 

“It should do much more than that soon.” 

“That’s cool!” 

They sat in silence for a couple of minutes. Usually Leo is the one to break the silence but this time it was none other than the softshell turtle. “Anything in particular keeping you up lately?” “Nah, insomnias a bitch, am I right?” Leo had a dumb smirk on his face which faded as he yawned. “Nothing else?” “Nope!” Donnie looked thoughtfully at Leo before continuing his work. Leo didn’t sleep the night before and it was definitely starting to show. 

“Do you think you’ll fall asleep if I rant about science long enough?” Donnie asked. 

“You think that’ll really be worth the torture? Hmm what kind of science? Elements, biology-” he yawned before he could finish. 

“Well are you here for a conversation or to sleep?” 

“Either works, I just wanted some company.” 

“Might as well try to put you to sleep then, huh? Elements it is, if we talk about biology you’ll just stay awake longer.” 

“Do your worst then, I’m prepared to tune you out.”

“Haha, very funny, Nardo.” Donnie had a small smile on his face as he responded with sarcasm. Donatello ranted as Leo listened, during their nighttime talks, usually Leo would at least attempt to show interest but he passed out in a matter of minutes. Donnie smiled as he realised his brother was finally sleeping. In the morning, he would surely complain about him falling asleep in his lab but they both know he enjoys the company, no matter how much he tries to deny it and he’s just glad Leo’s finally asleep.

This was my favorite chapter to write by far... but its not a happy chapter.

So sorry Casey. I promise this is a hurt/comfort fic.

This comic definitely deserves its own moment, it’s absolutely stunning!!!

I typically don't post the art I made specifically for the chapters of the written story of Golden Future.. but when I was drawing this I already told my dear friend and writer @rosesofenvy that this would be going up at some point! Just a little scene and mayhaps the fusion ninpo ability of all 4 brothers, that's controlled by Mikey! I like to call it "The Sun God" If you want to read Golden Future you should check it out on AO3: Arc 1: I Think I See You Roise recently finished writing Arc 2 despite a lot of stuff going on and I appreciate the work she put into it so much!! Thank you, you have no idea how much it means to me to have somebody this talented work on it alongside me ❤

Rottmnt Fantasy AU Fantasy

* Chapter 2 *

* Rating: G *

Dark clouds roll overhead as Mikey glances at his brothers behind him for the fifth time in the last two minutes. He noticed something strange was going on when they first met up. For one, Leo was wearing a blue bandana, which he claimed was a fashion statement; whatever that meant and Donnie’s cloak didn’t have a single rip despite his many encounters with law enforcement.

Raph seems ever vigilant scanning the area no doubt making sure there were no bounty hunters or guards around.

 “Raph.” Mikey tugs on his brother’s sleeve.

“Yeah?”

 “Do Leo and Donnie seem off to you?”

Raph looks back at Donnie and Leo who are trailing behind a bit. Leo walks with his head held high seeming to not have a care in the world while Donnie scribbles furiously into his journal not paying attention to where he’s walking in the slightest.

“Looks normal to me.” Raph says turning back to Mikey.

“Something’s wrong I can tell. Trust me.” Mikey says his eyes pleading.

 “Mikey—“

“What are we talking about?” Donnie suddenly appears on the left of Mikey causing him to jump a bit.

 Before Raph can answer Mikey cuts him off. “We’re talking about how things aren’t always as they seem. Wouldn’t you agree, Donnie?”

A glimmer of annoyance flashes in Donnie’s eyes but it fades as quickly as it appeared. “Yes, actually I would. I’ve been mapping out some anomalies in my journal.”

“What kind of anomalies?” Raph asks curiously.

“Some mystic plants have been dying under suspicious circumstances. Something is killing them off. Something strange.”

“That is weird.” Raph admits. “Do you think it has anything to do with Big Mama?” Raph asks lowering his voice.

Donnie glances back at Leo who seems to have noticed their quiet conversation. “Possibly. Have you heard anything?” Donnie turns back to Raph and Mikey.

“No. How would I?”

Mikey notices a strain line of Donnie’s face as Raph asks. Almost as if he’s just realized he’s made a mistake.

“Donnie just thought you might’ve heard something from Red Fox or in one of those inns.” Leo jumps in now having walked up beside Raph.

“Yes, exactly what I was about to say before you interrupted the conversation.” Donnie says with a hint of annoyance.

“You were taking too long.” Leo replies tightly.

 “You’re not gonna start fighting again are you?” Raph asks.

“No, of course not.” Donnie answers.

 “Good cause we have a long journey ahead of us.”

“How long?” Leo groans.

“Longer then usual but we have a couple stops ahead of us.” Raph answers as thunder crackles above them.

“It looks like it might storm.” Leo mumbles and him and Donnie slink back behind Mikey and Raph to talk in private.

Mikey looks back at them and shudders.

* * * * * * * * *

“I can’t see anything through this rain!” The real Leo exclaims as him and Donnie trudge through the muddy forest after the two shapeshifters.

“Just hold onto me so we don’t lose each other in the storm.” Donnie calls back.

“Are we still following the foot prints?”

Leo’s question is only met by silence.

“Donnie?”

“The rain washed away the prints. We’re officially on our own.” Donnie answers quietly.

Leo’s grip tightens around Donnie’s cloak a bit trying to ward off the anxiety starting to trap him in.

“Leo, are you okay?”

“Y-yeah. We need to find shelter.” Leo replies.

“Couldn’t agree more but I can’t see through the rain.”

Leo let’s out an involuntary shudder.

Two shapeshifters and a huge storm. Not a good combination.

Sick Leonardo

Heyy so I'm currently sick so I decided to self project on a turtle I kin, it's not much and I wish I had something better for my first fanfic on here but I got nothing else sooo enjoy?

The lair was quiet as everyone was asleep, everyone resting in their own rooms other than Donatello who fell asleep in his lab and Splinter who had fallen asleep in the living room. The silence was quickly broken as coughing echoed throughout the lair, waking up the turtle next door to the source of the coughing. Raphael rubbed his eyes and flipped onto his side, waiting for the sound of the coughing to stop but instead it turned into a coughing fit. The snapping turtle turned in his bed and pushed himself onto his feet, making his way out of his room, stopping to listen. The coughing was silent for a moment before it started again as he turned to Leonardo’s room, realising where it had been coming from. Raphael entered his brother’s room and saw him sitting up, coughing his lungs out. “Are you okay?” He stepped closer to his brother who was wearing blue pyjamas. He put a thumbs up as he continued coughing. “Here I’ll go get you some water.” Raphael rubbed his head making him realise he fell asleep in his mask, Leo nodded as Raph turned to leave. Leo waited impatiently as his coughing grew louder. It was not long before the red turtle returned, having two cups in his hand, one a normal glass and the other a medicine cup. 

“Take this first, it’s nightquil.” 

“Ew no that stuff’s nasty!” 

“But it’ll help you.”

The blue turtle hesitantly grabbed the small medicine cup and drank it quickly, before making a disgusted face and grabbing the other, larger cup of water from Raph’s hand and chugging it. 

“Hey, you may wanna save some in case you need some throughout the night.”

“If I need more, I’ll just go grab some more, the way things are looking, I’m not gonna get much sleep tonight either way..”

“Well the medicine should make you tired soon enough. Just don’t resist it or you’ll be awake the whole night.”

Leo let out another single cough then gave Raph another thumbs up. “You okay if I go back to my room, buddy?” Leo nodded as Raph took his leave. As Raphael entered his room he tugged off his mask before dropping it on the bedside table as he plopped into his bed.

The next morning, all the turtles sat in the living room as Jupiter Jim played on the TV, Mikey was working on a drawing, Donnie was doing something on his wrist tech, Raph and Splinter were watching the TV and Leo was…”Where’s blue?” Splinter was the one to speak for the first time in about 30 minutes. “I think he’s still asleep?” Donnie responded, not taking his focus off the glowing screen. “Shouldn’t he be awake by now?” Splinter asked as Mikey looked over at Donnie’s tech and pressed on something. “Hey!” Donnie looked at Mikey. “It’s 11AM so probably!” Mikey spoke a little bit too loud as Donnie pushed his face away. 

“He was having trouble sleeping last night, I believe he’s sick, maybe we should just let him rest.” Raph turned to look at Splinter. “Ohhh so that’s why I heard you in Leo’s room last night, yeah he was coughing a lot last night.” Mikey recalled, he had woken up last night from the coughing as well but he decided to stay in bed assuming that it was gonna pass over. “I didn’t hear anything.” Donnie shrugged. “Well you also weren’t sleeping in the rooms beside his.” Raph glared at Donnie as he went back to doing something with his wrist tech. Leo then entered the room, looking exhausted. “Ah, there he is.” Splinter said, being the first to notice Leo’s presence. “Good morning, Leo!” Mikey ran over to Leo and hugged him. “I wouldn’t do that if he’s sick, Angelo.” Leo and Mikey ignored Donnie’s input as Leo hugged Mikey tight. Leo always tends to get more cuddly and whiny when sick so it was no shock to Mikey when he didn’t want to let go of him. 

“It’s probably just a cold, it’ll be finee!” Mikey said happily. “Leo’s already a drama queen when sick, we don’t need you both sick!” Donatello argued. “Am not a drama queen! I just feel like shit!” Leo took a seat. “Is that Jupiter Jim? Hell yeah!” 

“There’s some popsicles in the freezer for you if you need, got you your favourite.” 

“Thanks Raph!” “Hey, why didn’t you tell me you got popsicles?! I want one!” Mikey asked, looking offended.

“Because Leo’s sick and you’re not!” “So Leo gets special privileges?!” “Popscicles help his throat!” 

Leo laughed. “You can enjoy your drawing, Mikey, I’m gonna go have some popsicles!” Leo teased, in all honesty, Leo didn’t really want a popsicle right now, he hadn’t even eaten breakfast, he was just hungry and didn’t want to make anything and wanted to rub the fact he had popsicles in Mikey’s face, though that just called for a heist later on.
