I’m especially sad for Shanel though. Literally two weeks ago she posted about how excited she was to show a dark skinned black girl as a founding member of the Pink Ladies because of how iconic they are in pop culture. And now not even a month later not only will the show not get a second season (which would show Hazel as a more prominent member of the Pinks) but it’s being removed entirely. That representation it quite literally being erased. For a show that centres around people who are ousted from society (whether that be based on gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality or class) and how unfair that treatment is where the fuck do paramout+ get off axing all their shows with said representation??? It literally makes no sense

Seeing the ROTPL cast in their normal clothes with phones and apple watches is off-putting to me bc they perfectly casted people immune to the smartphone face and I cant accept they werent actual teens in the 50s.

Shout out to rotpl for having one of the best opening scenes of a show ive seen ever, like even if you exclude the buddy and jane scene before the song we get SO much exposition in those 3 minutes or grease is the word and it all feels so natural

Here is my list of everything you learn just from watching the grease is the word scene

Learn "brainy janey" is dating buddy aldridge

Buddy is popular and jane isn't

Buddy used to date susan or at least susan likes buddy

Susans friends seem to barely like her "susans going to be crushed.. i better go tell her"

Nancy's friends are interested in boys while she isnt and views fashion as more important

Olivia and Richie are siblings

Olivia was being punished for something and Richie had to convince their parents to let her come to the drive-in with him and his friends

Richie is protective of olivia

Olivia is viewed as very attractive

Olivia had a relationship with a teacher and is viewed as a slut for doing so

Cynthia is friends with the guys

Cynthia is obviously different to other girls as she has short hair, rides a motorbike and wears pants

And just an extra important piece of information

This cast is SO talented

BE INCREDIBLY SPECIFIC AND EXPLAIN HOW THIS SHOW HAS HELPED YOU PERSONALLY!! Also, include the link to the petition so they can personally see how many people support the show! :)

They Canceled Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies. Here’s a petition to switch it to another platform and save it.

Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies portrays a great level of diversity that is hard to rival in modern television. Characters from all ethnicities, sexualities, and social status are represented. It has an extremely dedicated fan base, but Paramount has made the decision to cancel the series and remove it show from their platform in the next week, essentially making it impossible to watch. This means that those involved with the show’s creation and production get no further compensation for their efforts. It is a tax write off for the company.

Additionally, ROTPL is (currently) destined to fall into the bin of “great sapphic representation silenced”, which also includes Everything Sucks(2019), I Am Not Okay With this(2020), and many others.

Aside from signing this petition you may also email and submit suggestions to alternative streaming platforms (such as Netflix, Hulu, Max, and Amazon Prime Video) to uptake the mantle. Other series to face cancellation have been saved in this way, notably the sitcom One Day at a Time(2017), which was initially removed from Netflix but later transferred to PopTV to finish its entire run.

Please do not let Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies die. Many of the cast have been extremely outspoken in their support of its renewal for a second season, and have been brought much grief by this sudden choice. The writers, actors, and producers should not be faulted and punished for their beautiful work, especially when ROTPL had only finished its first season 2/3 weeks before this sudden news. Revelation of its removal is frankly ridiculous, all things considered. Remember to Think Pink!

watching cynthia interact with the thespians is so funny to me as a stage manager/lighting tech doing theater in college. cause like. actors are so much /pos. last semester i was apsming a show and the director INSISTED that the stage management team participate in all the bonding games and exercises at the start of the production. and one of the exercises was the meisner exercise they’re doing in rotpl. and my (and the psm’s) reaction to it was “this is weird and very, very silly, why are we staring into each others eyes talking about our hair color.” and the cast was so into it.

like it’s so clear to me that all of these actors are just grown up theater kids (affectionate) and i’m just trying to imagine how god damn hilarious it was for ari to have to act like they were absolutely baffled by everything they’ve been surrounded by (presumably) a good chunk of their life. and nim had to be so god damn serious about a high school play and i just can’t. imagine being at your job and having to act like that person from high school.

also nancy’s line about not being an actor and not respecting the profession while thinking she’d be great at it sent me. because like. can you imagine being on a film set FULL of actors, including yourself, and having to say that completely deadpan. i honestly don’t know how tricia didn’t lose it entirely.

i think that if we get a season two of rotpl and they needed to cast zuko with someone who already has a ton of acting credits, they should cast milo manheim as frankie zuko

here me out, zuko is probably going to a jerk because you have to be to get jane facciano of all people to yell at you

so he can’t be both a jerk and ugly because there needs to be a quality that makes you go yeah, that makes sense why you’d go for him

plus he still looks like a teenager and is fine as hell

Hey y’all. I don’t typically post things like this but I will do anything for my pink ladies.

If you aren’t aware, Grease:Rise of The Pink Ladies, which was a show that was released, cancelled, and removed off of paramount+’s platform in less than a MONTH, with no warning. Despite the short time that ROTPL was being aired, it gained an amazing audience that is currently doing its hardest alongside the cast of the series, to have it picked up by another streaming platform, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO max, Disney +, any platform you can think off.

ROTPL is so so so important to me. How often can we find a good musical tv show with representation for many different communities? As a member of the lgbtq+ community (and a theatre kid) this show has helped me in so many ways.

Cynthia’s coming out scene was beautiful and unlike any coming out scene I have ever seen. This showed the pain and fear of realizing who you really are. ROTPL showed what every single person in our community has gone through or will go through.

The theatre aspect of this show was amazing. The songs, dancing, and the incredible voices of the cast was so much fun to watch and listen too. It’s so hard to find really good musical shows so ROTPL is like theatre kid heaven.

My favorite thing out of this entire show is the community it brought together. As horrible as losing this show is, the people trying to save it are amazing. I can’t believe so many people have come together to save this series. We’ve created a team to save this show and we will go down fighting. Thank you so much for this incredible show and SAVE OUR PINKS
