Okay I have to talk about it more explicitly, because the extent to which this man has just burned his bridges is breathtaking to me.

Like. We've always known he was a hothead who liked to run off at the mouth when pissed on social media, but there is a massive gaping chasm of difference between that and sitting down with a Variety reporter to slam your former network publicly and basically call them trash. Even if you're correct, that's the kind of thing you just don't do if you ever want anyone else to hire you.

And it truly can't have been a shock, right? Because Nexstar's strategy has been obvious and not at all a secret from the beginning. The first thing they did when they bought the CW was axe most of the scripted shows. They kept the handful that were high performing, fit their target demo best, and/or were close to the syndication point. But they cancelled Nancy Drew after four seasons. They cancelled Roswell, NM after four seasons. Slowly but surely, they cancelled everything, sometimes giving them enough of a heads up to wrap things up satisfyingly...and sometimes not.

So they were always, obviously, going to cancel Walker after four seasons. Even though it was one of their top performing shows. Because as much as I dislike the man, he's right about one thing: they were very transparent from the beginning about wanting cheap, easy-to-make, mindless content. They don't want to pay a huge roster of writers and actors and set crew and stunt coordinators and SFX folks and all the people required to make a scripted show worth watching week to week.

What fascinates me is that he talks like he's surprised about this. Like he somehow really thought his pet project would be exempt from this treatment. I don't even know what to do with that. I don't want to study him, but if someone else does, I'll read your thesis!

What else is fascinating to me is the way that in hindsight, it feels like this was a much longer time coming than it initially seemed. We knew big changes were going to come with Nexstar's purchase of the network, but the CW's decline started, IMO, long before that, when it began cancelling some of its longest-running mainstays like The Vampire Diaries, and relying too heavily on reboots and spin-offs. It's just inconceivable to me that someone who was entrenched in this machine since his early 20s wasn't aware this was coming. I almost feel bad for the guy.

Hey! Idk if you've seen the 1999 Roswell TV show, but if you have I've been wondering how similar or different it is from the new Roswell New Mexico show 👀 Your blog makes me want to watch the show but I'm curious about the comparison with the first show bc I used to love it as a kid

I’ve only seen the pilot of Roswell! But there are some key differences that I know. The reboot is set ten years after high school and follows Liz as she works out the details of her sister’s death ten years ago. I believe Liz doesn’t have a sister in the 1999 version? The pilots follow similar beats, but I would say the shows are pretty different. A lot of Roswell fans seen like Roswell NM, too. It’s not a masterpiece, but the first season is a good old fashioned cw time.

not to explain how it physically got made, but to explain how it conceptually and spiritually got made

between the slasher-film sincerity of the maria/alex subplot with the axe-wielding bootmaker and the handwaving of potential bi!isobel+bi!kyle at the gay bar and the anticlimactic sibling battle with max+isobel and the seemingly regretful canon ot3 with michael/maria/alex like…

i hate the fact alex manes inst played by a disabled actor when every other show has characters played by actor who fits the character arc storyline i also hate the fact that hes not a native american actor like its not hard look at barbra in titans played by a disabled actress look at luna a trans character in ggrb played by a trans actress its like cw didnt even try and i hate the fact tyler whom i loved since pll as caleb just took that role from someone who actually deserved it and where those things maybe thats why ill never like alex manes as character besides the fact hes a very whinny annoying character its not everyday you find a male character that annoying and whinny its not everyday a male character has the character stereotypes female characters often get boxed in hes giving very much guy MERRY SUE or in simpler terms elena gilbert s2 just wanted to say my peace im not really watching the show anymore also hes not and never was my fav or top10 fav character ( then again it aint his fault i only care mostly or like female characters for the most part unless their name is malyen oretsev or titans male characters or they are incredible intersting complex compelling and great male characters such as micheal guerin or kyle valenti) he always felt like a background character whom i didnt even find intersteing might comeback once my endgame is back together or my fav and the most intersting character on that whole show gets more storyline and arc as the main character they truly are and should be treated as such ya know.

THE THING IS, this isn't just about malex but also about Maria. She deserves better than being with somebody who is still in love with someone else. Because that fucking sucks, she deserves someone who will trully love her for who she is. And i know Michael does love her, but he's not IN LOVE with her. Maria DeLuca deserves someone who will love her no matter what. She fucking deserves it.

And next season they better give her that or i will be so fucking mad i swear

Starting watching Roswell.

Just a heads up its all I will be talking about.

So Maria are we surprised how perfect and classy that woman is forgiving the people who hurt her so bad she’s just so amazing and beautiful and I love her! I’m so happy her and Alex are friends again this probably pisses the Maria antis but they are even he lied something he has control over while she got feelings she can’t control and Alex knows how easy it is to fall for Micheal Guerin so yeah!!

This was a Micheal episode and I loved every moment of it my baby all the pain he’s felt all these years is still feeling. I don’t hate max as much now as I did last week. He was there for Michel as he should for my perfect boy.

Lacked Maria screen time and scenes in this episode but I get it was Micheal centric and it was about the 3 of them. So I’ll accept it this episode got my little kylex moment I want my boys to be become friends. Kyle is the most beautiful person he’s just amazing love him and wish we got more of him more screen time. But at at least he’s getting way more then my gal Maria. My 2/3 favs not getting enough screen time Rosa too! this is so sad for me.

Only thing I hated is that Alex left Micheal when he knew he clearly needed him but I also get it Alex had his own issues and was running away from them just a little sad about it but understandable you don’t wanna put ur life on hold for someone doing such things. Just wish Alex stop caring about how Micheal deals with things or his side hustle because that’s Micheal trying to put his life in a tiny bit of order. Loved the Malex content just loving seeing my two boys happy. I may love miluca but I love seeing malex happy especially when it’s bc if each other.

‪who’s gonna tell Alex Manes that no queer woman survive Maria DeLuca too his little cute smile i haven’t seen Alex smile like this since he came back and it’s all thanks to Maria DeLuca. We all know about the DeLuca effect I talked about just yesterday. ‬

Overall great episode at the exception of the lack of Maria DeLuca

Last thing Maria DeLuca looked so hot the whole episode she’s so gorgeous stunning showstopping how is she even alive?
