If ,you for just a moment close your eyes and see the vortexes of electric energy liberated from fresh cut roses, you will be amazed. Red roses are so magnetically charged that they could easily illuminate a dark room metaphorically speaking .Have you heard of Kirlian photography? ,Semyon Davidovich Kirlian an electrical engineer and his wife Valentina a biologist discovered coronal discharge photography ,better known as Kirlian photography back in 1939. Proving how life matter is indeed electromagnetically charged.Well, do check the photos and I’m sure you will love seeing how even our hands give off such energy. Well, this pic is indeed refreshing and full of life.Becoming aware of our true nature is key in appreciating how flowers do affect our vibrations, frequency and energy. We often talk about red roses and love, well my friends there is indeed such connection that goes beyond our so called reality. One more proof of how our lives are in tune with all living organisms. 'Spellcasting with an unopened heart was near impossible, and hearts were connected to their environments. Closed energy, even from an outside source, could tarnish the environmental energy needed to cast blood magick. “I’m assuming you have a circle prepared?” The Ambassador, who had been a stoic pyramid of reserved power, rose from his seat, planting his feet firmly. The cloaked being cast his arms in a wide circle in front of his chest, and mimicked closing a sphere and throwing the bubble over all three of us, like a dome. Energy crackled and fizzed along the sphere’s surface, charging the air between us with electromagnetic currents."

Dread Baron Soldiers: "What is that thing?" "It almost fills the whole cave..." "Where's 23 through 30?!" "They were... crushed!" "They were too slow...!?" "Im-Impossible...!" Dread Baron Squadron 2: "HrrrrrRRRRRH-! You... YOU METAL DEMONS!!" "Our brothers! How DARE YOU!!" The remaining members of Dread Squadron Two, 21 and 22, rushed towards the massive box of alien metal with righteous fury boiling their blood! One drew out and wielded a greataxe with blades of plasma, and another held high an electromagnetic hammer! They charged the silent machine, unleashing bloodthirsty screams of war!
Red: "OI! YOU TWO! WAIT!" Green: "STOP! DON'T! WE DON'T KNOW WHAT-!"
'CRASH! SLASH! BAM! BANG-CRASH! CLANG! BOOM!' Even with all their strength into their respective swings? The frame of the device didn't even budge, or dent. But it certainly annoyed what was inside.
'C l i c k - C l a c k ! W r i r r - ! W o o o O O O -'
Red: "What in-!?" Yellow: "Oi-?!" Green: "That's-!!"
Dread Baron Chief: " B R O T H E R S ! F A L L B A C K ! ! "
Both of the Chief's soldiers in Squad 2 stopped hacking at the machine, glancing back at him as though they were SHOCKED to hear him order them to fall back. They turn to take one last glance at the machine to see what the problem was... only to find that what had emerged from the box would end up as the last thing they'd ever see. 'BWROOOO- CRUNCHCRACK!!'
Dread Baron Squadron 2: "HK- UGAAAAGH-!?!" "WH- DUOOOGGH-!?" Two enormous metal tendrals. Similar to those of the caretaker, combined with those of the nemesis. Except much longer, thicker, darker colored, and leagues more capable of clean impalement through dwarven steel. As demonstrated on the last members of squadron two, with massive metal prongs shoved through their guts and out their backs as they were hoisted up into the air while screaming in agony in their final moments. Like they were used as an example to the others.
Dread Baron Chief: " N O ! ! ! "
Blue: "By the beard-!?" Red: "Dah-!?" Yellow: "What in hell!?" Green: "No! Stop those arms, we can--!" Red: "Huh-!? Wait... that noise-!?" ' f b b b v v v v V V V V V V V V - ' Blue: "Those tendrils! They're... glowin'-!?" Yellow: "What's it doin' NOW?!" Suddenly, the enormous machine chucks the still-living bodies of the DB Soldiers into the air just above the remaining Baron Soldiers that acted as its audience . . . Before it violently unleashes a horrific stream of plasma right into the very holes that it punctured into squadron 3. 'BQUIIIIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO--!!!' Dread Baron Squadron 2: "UGAAAAAAAA A A A A A A - - ! ! " "EIOOOAAAAA A A A A A A - - ! ! " ' K A - B L O O A A A A G H R G L K R G L E ! ! ' . . . Those two barons were boiled alive. An excrutiating, horrifying end. Their screams rapidly rose in pitch as the output of the Liquification Beams intensified, up until they were silenced. Their boiled blood and liquified bone matter splash over their comrades, their remains simmering across their armor. They stared upon themselves in silence. And that. Was just TWO tendrils. As the gathering of dwarves stood before the metallic monster? Nay. The demon with flesh of metal? The box began to mold into itself. Taking a different shape. Metal cascaded into metal, transforming into the true form of the steel attrocity. Resting on the top of the drill-platform that it had used to enter this cave in hunting for these dwarves... was an assault model of a Caretaker Platform. A thick-hide metal disk-shaped structure on enormous steel tank-treads, with SIX tendril hatches instead of the usual four. And in the center? A new control-unit for the device of war. An enormous sphere with a hundred lights coating it from top to bottom, giving it the appearance of a hundred eyes. And as it was revealed, it rose from its platform as every light on its "body" activated at once... and it unleashed a grating high-pitch metal screech to display its full activation. ' I I I I I I I I I E E E E E E E E H H H H H O O O O O O H H H H H '
. . . . Blue: "WE'RE ALL GONNA DIIII-HI-HI-HIIIEEEEE!!!"
Dread Baron Chief: " B R O T H E R S ! ! K I L L ! ! " Dread Baron Soldiers: " W A A A A A A A A A A A A G G H H H ! ! ! "
And thus, the REAL fireworks began. Starting with walls of bullets, explosives, and railgun streams from the barons. [ Selected Track: Earth Defense Force 2017 - Mothership ]
(just gonna carry on our story, pretending that mc's vacation never happened in-between. "ahem") . . .
Tumblr media
Blue: "Ouuuugggghh... C-Control? ...C-Can ya read? Agh--... Wh-What in the bloody blazes WAS that? Th-Think I hit my head pretty hard from--
. . . What the...?" . . .
Death cratered into the room from above.
In a flash, the ceiling had been smashed through.
. . . In the blink of an eye.
50 Dread Barons had become 42.
8 Marines, crushed into bloody metal paste under a massive black-steel laser-core-infused drill built by the Rival Machines.
A drill that was as wide as 4 drop pods combined, carrying a black-steel box into the depths of this world that was the size of 5. Marked from top-to-bottom in Rival Glpyhs and Patterns…
Any barons that weren't crushed like tomatoes were thrown to the cave floor, dazed. Staring up at the enormous box.
Even the Power Scales and the Chief were floored by the crash-down of the box… rubbing at their visors to get the dust out of their vision.
Red: " . . . What. In. This galaxy?" Yellow: "What is that...? 'S massive!" Green: "The Barons! They were...!" Blue: "Red? Red, what-? What do we...?" Dread Baron Chief: " . . . B r o t h e r s . M Y . B R O T H E R S ! " Seeing the fate of his soldiers, the chief of the Barons began to shake with a believably unfathomable rage. Red: " . . . Control. What... what're your readin's sayin'?"
Management has been alerted. We’re awaiting orders. I’m scrambling another platoon of Marines as exfil, but the odds of them getting there before that… thing… reduces you to a fine red mist are low. I’d also recommend getting away from the Chief- you’ve heard the term seeing red? He personifies it.
Good luck, Miners. Rock and Stone.

Love at First Write (Part 3)
Green Goblin x Fem!reader
“I think something happened to Y/n.”
“Whaddya mean, Pete?”
“She just goes on vacation, never mentions it before and now she’s not answering her phone? It makes me feel weird.” Harry and Peter pondered where you could be. Norman just told the boys that she left saying she was late for a flight. It was suspicious, and Peter had a plan to find you.
——————————————————
The mansion was big, empty, and old. There was no cable so all you could watch were old DVDs Norman had collected over the years. Some of which you’d never heard of. Invention for Destruction? Sounded interesting enough. It was in Czech with no subtitles…great. As the movie played on you felt restless and angry Though you didn’t quite know why. You began to run around the house jumping in furniture and parkouring to the best of your ability. Norman left you for days at a time now that you didn’t need constant surveillance. You nearly lived a normal life. You showered, ate, slept, and oh yeah helped build weapons for him to terrorize New York with. On the days he was home you’d be in a workshop together trying to improve the Goblin suit and glider.
On the days he was gone you worked on your own little experiment. Gloves, gauntlets really that packed a powerful punch. You worked on them all hours of the day. They weren’t perfect, but they were pretty damn cool. They had two settings, to either use an electromagnetic field that made them stick you walls or to use that electricity to shock people when you hit them. Training and working out helped you feel like a real hero. Maybe even strong enough to beat your captor. Sure, he had seduced you and practically slapped a sign on your head that said Stockholm syndrome, but was he really in charge?
“Good evening my star!” Shit, he was here already. You shoved the gloves under your bed and ran down the steps to greet him. He was all dolled up in a tux holding a rose bouquet,
“Norman, are these for me?” He nodded and pulled you in close,
“Normans worked his ass off all week. I’m letting him take a break.” Backing up you laughed awkwardly and tried to walk to the kitchen. Only to be stopped,
“What didn’t you miss me?”
“O-of course I did.”
“Show me how much you missed me.” Swallowing hard you gingerly placed your hands on his chest. His smile never faltered as you leaned up to kiss his cheek. Being a housewife was never your style, you could feel yourself changing to meet his expectations and it made you sick. Breathing deep you had to remind yourself of the situation. You are in control here, you can make this go however you want. You ran your fingers through his hair and pressing your body close to his you whispered,
“How about you show me?” Instantaneously he captured your lips with his, using his teeth to pull your bottom lip open and shove his tongue in your mouth. Stumbling back you grab him and let him fall down with you. You break away to laugh but it turns to a moan as he bites and licks done your neck. He stares at you uneasily,
“D-did he take over? I didn’t hurt you did I sunshine?” He clutched his chest and clenched his jaw. Suddenly the goblin was back and they were fighting. Switching back and forth yelling at each other. Without thinking you wrapped shout arms around his waist and don’t let go,
“Stop fighting! I have an idea!” He stopped and looked down at you huddled beneath him,
“If I am in control then you two won’t fight over who’s giving since you’re both receiving…right?” Norman nodded and helped you up,
“That could work. Just don’t be afraid to put him in his place.” You take Norman by the hand and into your room. As he lays on the bed you kiss him softly, feeling him up. You push his hands above him and pull off his belt. You bonded his wrists tightly and sat back. He was hot, there was no denying it now that you had both made out. You wanted him. But you wanted your freedom more. Biting his earlobe and grinding against him you sighed,
“Let me put on something pretty for you.” Getting up you saw how hard he was already and bit your lip. He didn’t even have his clothes off and he looked big. Closing the door lightly you tiptoed down the hall before breaking into a sprint. Grabbing your gloves you tromped down the stairs and slid to the door,
“I’m waiting!” Norman yelled. Yeah, he’s be waiting for awhile,
“Just a minute baby!” Readying your gloves you aimed them at the door and broke the keypad. The door swung open and you saw it, freedom. Freedom and Spider-man?,
“Peter?”
“Ye-I mean no Peter here! It’s me Spider-man.”
“Cut the shit we gotta go, like now.” He nodded and grabbed your waist. He swung you both up and into down town,
“How’s you know it was me?”
“Remember that time Harry brought over booze and we all got wasted and started making out with each other?”
“…no.”
“We’ll you told me then. Wait wait stop here!” It was the top of the Chrysler building, the falling snow and city lights calmed you,
“Pete, Mr Osborn is the Green Goblin -and he kidnapped me and and!”
“Slow down! Deep breaths, we’ll spend the night at my place and we’ll figure out what to do in the morning.”
“Yeah?” Peter held you close,
“Yeah.”
——————————————————
You couldn’t sleep. You guessed Peter was used to imminent threats because he was snoring and cuddled up to you like nothing was wrong. It was nice…unusual but nice. The wind howled outside and blew the snow sideways. Untangling yourself you walked to the balcony staring up at the dark gray sky. Everything began to set in. You got fucking kidnapped! AND SURVIVED. A large crash of thunder and lightning lit up the balcony and from behind the window you saw him. Fuming mad and looking for a fight. There were really only two choices…
Wake up Peter
Or go back to Norman

Correlating Astrology , with Astronomy and Quantum mechanics.
There are many arguments about the relevance of astrology in the modern world so I'd like to present you with some resources so that you can find relevance.
P.S. : I am just a novice , so feel free to correct my mistakes.
Light emission in humans
So first of all I would like to tell you about a research done by scientists in Japan , they chose 5 healthy male volunteers for the examination of the presence of photon , they installed photon sensitive camaras . A photon is a sub - atomic particle of an atom or a particle representing a quantum of light or other electromagnetic radiation. A photon carries energy proportional to the radiation frequency but has zero rest mass.
They were asked to be bare chested for this in completely darkened rooms for 20 minutes every three hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. for three days. The researchers found the body glow rose and fell over the day, with its lowest point at 10 a.m. and its peak at 4 p.m., dropping gradually after that. The face glowed more than the body due to the presence of more melanin , which has fluorescent components , they have linked this phenomenon to the rhythms of the body . The body image was captured with a camara that detected heat , the emissions were infrared and the images were thermal . We cannot normally see it because these are 1000 less sensitive than our visual capabilities .
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aura's : an aura or human energy field is a colored emanation said to enclose a human body or any animal or object .
Aura photography : an object on a photographic plate is connected to a high-voltage source, an image is produced on the photographic plate.
This proves the presence of light emission from our human body.
Planets do not emit their own light , they rather reflect the rays of the sun , true emission of lights are produced as a result of nuclear fusion , which creates radiation and makes stars glow .
Young's double slit experiment
This experiment belongs to a general class of "double path" experiments, in which a wave is split into two separate waves that later combine into a single wave. Changes in the path-lengths of both waves result in a phase shift, creating an interference pattern. Another version is the Mach–Zehnder interferometer, which splits the beam with a beam splitter.
In the basic version of this experiment, a coherent light source, such as a laser beam, illuminates a plate pierced by two parallel slits, and the light passing through the slits is observed on a screen behind the plate. The wave nature of light causes the light waves passing through the two slits to interfere, producing bright and dark bands on the screen – a result that would not be expected if light consisted of classical particles. However, the light is always found to be absorbed at the screen at discrete points, as individual particles (not waves); the interference pattern appears via the varying density of these particle hits on the screen. Furthermore, versions of the experiment that include detectors at the slits find that each detected photon passes through one slit (as would a classical particle), and not through both slits (as would a wave).
Image of light as a Particle as well as a wave .
A research team led by Fabrizio Carbone at EPFL has now carried out an experiment with a clever twist: using electrons to image light. The researchers have captured, for the first time ever, a single snapshot of light behaving simultaneously as both a wave and a stream of particles.
The experiment is set up like this: A pulse of laser light is fired at a tiny metallic nanowire. The laser adds energy to the charged particles in the nanowire, causing them to vibrate. Light travels along this tiny wire in two possible directions, like cars on a highway. When waves traveling in opposite directions meet each other they form a new wave that looks like it is standing in place. Here, this standing wave becomes the source of light for the experiment, radiating around the nanowire.
While this phenomenon shows the wave-like nature of light, it simultaneously demonstrates its particle aspect as well . The scientists shot a stream of electrons close to the nanowire, using them to image the standing wave of light. As the electrons interacted with the confined light on the nanowire, they either sped up or slowed down. Using the ultrafast microscope to image the position where this change in speed occurred, Carbone's team could now visualize the standing wave, which acts as a fingerprint of the wave-nature of light.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wave and wave interaction :
Two wave paddles, generating waves of different frequencies and directions, are placed in two corners along one side of a tank of constant water depth. The resulting waves create a diamond pattern of crests and troughs, which has its own wave length, speed, and direction. This diamond pattern would interact with a third-wave component, if this third wave had the same wave length, speed, and direction as the diamond pattern.
The reflective waves of planets and our body emissions interact in a way of wave wave interaction and thus influence our lives, now the thing about wonder is that , why don't we have an influence on them , well we do but in a very negligible amount , this can be explained with the help of the third law of Newtonian physics , " Every action has an equal and opposite reaction "  , this statement is actually incomplete , the original statement goes "To every Action there is always an equal Reaction: or the mutual actions of two bodies upon each other are always equal, and directed to contrary parts" .
For example , an elephant is trying to push you , but you are also pushing the elephant but obviously the elephant will overpower you because the elephant has more matter in its body than you  , but that doesn't mean your efforts are in vain , they are just negligible enough to be overlooked , in the same way , when our auric fields , interact with the radiation of planets , the planets influence us more than we influence them .
You can visualise wave -wave interaction through these images :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Planets
But if the same planets influence us why aren't we all the same? That's because during different period of the cycle of earth rotation their are different planets reflecting more than the other.
When you are born , the time , date and geographical location effects us , this leads to the formation of the innermost core our true self , but does that mean we can never change our circumstances ?
Our planet and all the planets orbit the Sun in a plane, and the entire plane moves in an elliptical orbit through the galaxy. Since every star in the galaxy also moves in an ellipse, we see ourselves appear to pass in-and-out of the galactic plane periodically, on timescales of tens of millions of years, while it takes around 200-250 million years to complete one orbit around the Milky Way. The other cosmic motions all contribute, too: the Milky Way within the Local Group, the Local Group in our Supercluster, and all of it with respect to the rest-frame of the Universe. The Solar System isn’t a vortex, but rather the sum of all our great cosmic motions.
A traditional birth chart shows where the sun, moon, and planets were on the Wheel of the Zodiac at the moment you were born. It can offer an astrological explanation for your communication style, how you process emotions, who you're attracted to, and more — think of it like a snapshot of your personalityFor example, it's believed that the sun moves one degree forward on the Wheel of the Zodiac for every year after your birthday. And every sign occupies 30 degrees of the Wheel, so, by the time you hit your 30s, if not earlier, the sun could very well have moved onto the next sign on your progressed chart. By comparison, the moon will move on from your natal moon sign much sooner, as it changes signs about every three years in a progressed chart. This can also relate to the d9 charts  .

Headcanon: The Origin of Mermaids & Magic
Tumblr media
Wooooooo...it’s been a long time since I’ve written one of those. I can truthfully say I’m been sitting on this one for maybe over a year...letting it cook up inside me...like a dumpling of information. Okay, weird image, i get it, but that’s the truth.
Basically today I wanna go over a little idea of mine I’ve had for a long time, and every time I rewatched the show, it was fed and grew larger and larger, with more and more information to help me piece out the puzzle of mermaid powers, and why all you thought you know was absolute garbage.
As I went over in my (pretty popular, if I may) post about how the powers work, mermaids use electromagnetism in a way that helps them alter the magnetic field around them and manipulate water in multiple ways to be able to “control” it. The moon is magnetic, and so is Mako Island, therefore, something in the full moon evokes the powers. But what is it?
While watching season 3 and Mako Mermaids as a whole, you’d realize they are more similar than you’d think. Actually, the lore introduced in season 3 seems to be the base foundation to the entire world-building in Mako Mermaids. One thing that is highly notable is the appearance of the crystals. Moon crystals, as I call them, can indeed release “moonlight”, this blue, hypnotizing energy wave. But that’s not really moonlight, per se. You see, moonlight isn’t a real thing in nature; the moon doesn’t radiate like the sun, it’s just reflective, and it’s surely not deep blue. And so, the so-called moonlight in the show is actually something else. Like the stones of Mako, the crystals in them also originated from the moon, and Mako (and every other “moon pool” out there) is probably sitting on millions of them. Considering how many were inside that one piece Ryan and Sophie tried to grab, the foundation of Mako Island is rich with these blue bitches. Now, these crystals are unique because they store inside them the secret to mermaid magic.
Tumblr media
You see, throughout the Mako show, one of the most valuable items are these little ‘moon rings’. These little rings with a nice, big blue crystal right in the middle. While the show never explicitly reveals that the crystals are originated from the moon pool, or Mako at all, but given the pretty obvious design choice, it’s very clear to us that it’s more than just an artistic design. They also work in a very similar way - they both radiate blue energy that is very strong, and have serious powers. Mako gave us a very big hint to the origin of that, by saying the moon rings need to be recharged in full moons. That’s when the power of the moon is the strongest. Now going back a little, we said the moon doesn’t really shine a light of its own, so what are we talking about? Well, like the crystals on the rings, the crystals on the moon absorb power daily, from the sun and space. The sun uses a strong magnetic field, holding the planets and what-not spinning around it in perfect rings since the creation of the solar system. The crystals on the moon absorb that power, and every night, the moon radiates it back to earth, to its cousin, Mako Island. Simplifying things, the moon absorbs power and in return release it towards Earth, only for that power to charge the entire Mako Island crystal colony. Many have spoken about the weird sensation Mako gives them - electromagnetism, and no wonder mermaids feel it stronger, since they are sensitive to it more than most people. The girls felt the comet getting closer because a part of them is now sensing magnetism in the environment.
Tumblr media
So Mako is charged with energy, so what? You see, the moon pool’s shape is very interesting. The decision to place it at the bottom of a volcano isn’t just a creative choice (though it is very cool). The shape of a volcano is that of a cone, of a funnel, if you may. The moon centers around the small opening above and radiates into the moon pool itself. Unlike the rest of the island, which seems unaffected during full moon nights, the shape of the moon pool allows the power to get trapped in the spacious room of crystals walls, awakening the power that is also trapped inside the crystals themselves, probably magnifying the intensity of it by a lot. Add the fact that the full moon is the stronger of the faces of the moon considering all of it is facing Earth and you have yourself a force not to be played with. That means that the moon pool as a room has very strong energy to it, one that apparently can turn someone into a mermaid.
Tumblr media
The mystery of why a mermaid, of all things, and what mermaids have to do with the moon is still a puzzle left to be solved. But one thing’s for sure, mermaids are not natural creatures, despite what Mako Mermaids tries to sell you. They have too many human characteristics to only be relatives to humans and go through such an evolution is a short (evolutionarily speaking) time. Plus, no power in the world can turn you into something you’re not, and for Lewis examinations and the medical tests they went through in the “fake sick” episode, it’s pretty safe to say that genetically, mermaids are very slightly different to humans, and it’s not something that can be detected without looking into their DNA. But that tells us enough to safely bet that the origin of mermaids is human, and not another species adapted to live in the ocean.
And yet - sea-born ‘natural’ mermaids are so different from humans. They can siren sing, they give birth to “hatchlings” (whatever that means), and heck, some can even speak to sea animals, what’s up with that? Well, these could all be considered under the umbrella term of rapid evolution. In simple words, rapid evolution is the process a species goes through in order to adapt to a new environment that is foreign to it and different from its natural habitat. While humans don’t really have a natural habitat, we are land animals, and therefore, to live in the ocean we’d have to adapt to different factors. The transformation of the full moon only does about half the work, but a mermaid like Cleo couldn’t live in the ocean forever, as we saw when she ran away. She was hungry, ‘cause she didn’t know how to hunt. She was tired, ‘cause she didn’t know where to sleep safely. And you would be too, if you were to be thrown out of your natural environment and into some place you may have the physical skills to handle, but not the knowledge.
Tumblr media
So my theory goes as follows: in an order of events, at some point throughout Earth’s history, a piece of the moon detached and entered our atmosphere. The piece broke off, landing in several places around the world, such as China, Ireland, perhaps the Caribbean as well, but the biggest piece landed off the coast of Australia. The new mass of stone tore through the layers of the Earth, resulting in an active volcano, that eventually cooled down and turned into an island. Million of years later, ancient humans, probably a male and a female, discovered one of the moon pools around the world (probably Ireland), sometime around 3000 years ago, before the first mentions of mermaids in Greek mythology.  Said humans were probably considered as witches, gods, beings of magic and power. It is not far fetched to assume they may have escaped into the ocean. Perhaps more people were interested in getting such powers; maybe it was more than two, maybe even tens of people. Mermaids were considered as monsters, beings of evil to be feared of, and when Christianity rose, perhaps unholy abominations. The moon pools were considered supernatural places. All that led to merpeople being secluded, escaping humans, and accepting the ocean as a new home. They adapted quickly, and with time, the mermadic gene was implemented into their DNA. They were still humans, just highly adapted to life underwater. With the industrial revolution, the stories of mermaids became nothing more than folklore, one with ancient gods, monsters, and myths. Every now and then someone saw a mermaid, like Christopher Columbus, but who would believe a person that saw a being half woman half fish?

this actually started as a whole other headcanon, but go figure

Note
(1.) I was wondering if you had any thoughts on how it would go if the MC changed to be the head of another dorm (I basically see the MC as the dorm leader for Ramshackle) and how the dorm leaders (and others) would react to being in charge of Ramshackle. I’d feel like the MC would surprise everyone on how well they can adapt to being put in charge of another dorm even without magic. It would also give other characters some insight in how it’s like for the MC- especially if they could no...
So, this ask was in 3 parts, but it was super long. To summarize, it's the reactions of the leaders of they were swapped with Yuu/MC. I guess Yuu is a dorm leader, but it's because they didn't have a magical soul that they didn't get swapped. However, if one of the leaders WERE to be placed in Ramshackle...well...
Leona: No vice dorm leader. No tenants. No fights. Just quiet. Perfect for nice long naps. Oh wait, the ghosts. They'd better leave him alone or he'll turn the entire dorm to sand. How does Yuu and Grimm deal with these ghosts? Major props to them for having that kind of patience.
Vil: Oh, he is DISGUSTED at the state of the dorm. Judging by the few good pieces of furniture in the dorm that it was a nice, comfy, but a common dorm for the common middle class. It's not as bad as it could be since Yuu seemed to have cleaned it a bit. There is still plenty of dust and it'll be terrible for his hair. Wait, who are these ghosts? Why are they here? Oh no, they are trouble makers. They are going to be keeping him awake all night. It's going to ruin his beauty sleep. He'll get dark circles under his eyes! Also, just the dorm in general is awful. The bed is hardly soft, the mirror is dirty and foggy, everything is still dusty, the wood needs to be shaved for splinters, so much needs to be done. Can we talk about the decor? What kind of dorm is this? What kind of dorm WAS this? How can ANYONE live in a place like this? Yuu has earned Vil's respect for living in a dump like this and being ok with it.
Idia: An abandoned dorm that's completely isolated from others AND no one likes to come near it? What a perfect place to call a home. As long as it has working outlets, he's set for life. Ghosts? Whatever. They can't do anything to him. Wait, THEY CAN MESS WITH THE ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES OF HIS DEVICES!!! How did Yuu and Grimm live here? Next time he see Grimm, he'll make sure to give him canned tuna.
Malleus: The guy already walks by there every night. It's quiet, peaceful, devoid of others that will run away in fear. There are ghosts? Whatever. He has magic. He's been through worse. They'll probably avoid him anyway. Nothing changes for him. It's like a regular night at the graveyard
Riddle: Well, the dorm could be worse. He could have ended up in Pomefiore. He finds it rather boring. It's an abandoned dorm, so there's no rules he can enforce. At least he can order around Grimm. As for the ghosts, he's not concerned with them. Just as long as they don't get in the way of his duties and school work. If the dorm doesn't have any rules, make your own.
Azul: Oh, this boy is gonna immediately turn it into the next Mostro Lounge. He starts cleaning, rearranging, and planning out the entire layout of how the new lounge will look. Although, the ghosts may be a bit problematic. But since they're still around, there's no harm in getting them into contracts in order to get them to leave.
Kalim: He's gonna throw a party. First, he'll bring some servants over to clean the dorm up, and then he'll bring the camels and peacocks. He'll invite everyone to the feast. Even the ghosts. Now he can say he partied with death. He may or may not have danced with the ghosts too and then befriend them.
Yuu/MC: In Heartslabyul, Yuu would be well respected for being lenient with the more trivial rules. Yuu would definitely convince others why they should follow the more strict rules that are more common sense and logical. They would make rounds around the dorm with Trey, and they would have fun with the other three. At parties, they'd help paint the roses with the freshmen and help Trey bake tarts. Would invite Riddle to the party, obviously. Would also have fun with Ace, and Deuce by extension.
At Savanaclaw, Yuu wouldn't be that respected. After all, no magic and is, probably, a twig. But, they'd be able to break up fights, with Ruggie and Jack's help, and make the tenants come to peaceful resolutions. Leona would definitely respect Yuu if they can stop the brutes from fighting.
As Octavinelle's dorm leader, Yuu would be working in Mostro Lounge. They'd help deliver drinks, take orders, cleaning the dishes, dealing with clients...wait what? Actually, Yuu would be against making contacts. They don't have the means to make contracts nor do they have the morality to make contracts. They also probably don't know the legal complications or have the knowledge.
In Scarabia, Yuu would be responsible and perform regular prefect duties, much to Jamil's relief. Not as many, or as crazy, parties. Nothing much to say here.
Oh, Rook will be all over Yuu and get them on the beauty routine bandwagon real quick. The most Yuu gets out of it is nice, dewy skin. Epel treats Yuu with respect since they're a prefect but also treats them causally since they have helped the school and the student body so much.
I bet Yuu would be confused af in Ignihyde. But Ortho would get a new friend to play with. Like in my headcanon with Azul leading Ignihyde, Ortho would probably teach Yuu basic tech terminology and techniques.
Sebek will be panicking and Lilia will find the situation hilarious. Yuu would probably help Silver with his insomnia. Would probably fight Sebek verbally. Since Yuu is canonically shown to be sassy and have comebacks for other characters, would hold their own against Sebek. Change my mind.

Sorry this took long to answer. I was still rather confused about what you were asking, so I apologize if it's not exactly what you were asking.

Mem x Fem! Esper! Reader (H&C)
Membrane POV
Out in Nevada, one of my machines picked up a strong electromagnetic pulse that managed to affect all life in a 5 kilometer radius (I think it's around 2 miles. I don't wanna actually check). There were signs that the ground had been lifted up a few meters (yards) off the ground.
While Membrane Labs was always curious of this spot, no one knew why. When asked why I always went to investigate, I always just said I was researching something specific. And technically, I was.
I had made the discovery of humans with supernatural powers. But they weren't genetically altered to be that way; their DNA just happened to have a set of genes that enabled them to harness the true power of the human brain. Some could move at insanely high speeds, some could manipulate time, some could change their physical strength, some could see beyond the veil that separated phantoms from the naked eye. The limits were theoretically nonexistent. Most, however, could mildly control gravity—causing them to be able to have apparent telekinesis. As the most popular are spirit mediums, they have been nicknamed 'espers'. When I announced the discovery that the genome was present in about 1/9 of all humans, it was only a matter of time before several started to publicly appear.
My current focus was to pinpoint the subdivisions of their possible powers. As of now, I was studying one of most powerful abilities of an esper—power over the mind of another. More specifically, I was researching a subcategory of this, telepathy. The esper's brain could read the electric signals in the brain and translate them into the person's thoughts.
The EMP was caused by an esper with this ability along with a deep control of gravity. Under the wrong circumstances, this was a recipe for disaster, so I kept close tabs on them albeit an unorthodox way. The esper was often found at our house when she wasn't as her own. She had become a family friend, of sorts.
Her name was Y/N. She was messy, dumb, and kind of naive, but that was Y/N. Y/N could make anyone smile, whether it be on purpose or not. In fact, she was almost selfless to a fault. So whenever she had a problem, she wanted to solve it herself—not getting anyone else involved with her "problems". And if she couldn't? Well, this happened.
I should check on her. Whenever this happens, something is always wrong. I stepped onto the warm-grey pad on the ground and nodded to the assistants hovering over the controls. With the flick of a few switches, turning of knobs, and shifting of levers; a transparent, cyan film rose from the circumference and formed a vial shape, encompassing me inside. The vibrant color shifted into the scenery of rocky cliffs and dusty red skies. I took a step forward and found myself immersed in the rose-toned landscape. The air itself was full of dust from the loose ground being violently lifted and slammed a myriad of times.
My boots sunk slightly into the soft ground as I headed in the direction of Y/N's house. I saw her floating a few centimeters (inches you Americans) above the ground, hair waving out around her as she clutched her temples. The large patch of ground in front of her was seated several meters away from the earth. I needed to intervene. I hesitantly took a step forward and cleared my throat.
"Y/N?!" She whipped around to look at me, eyes a milky white adorned with tears brimming at the edges. Instantly the ground plummeted sending a minor shockwave to echo throughout the nearby area. Her hair fell in front of her face and she pushed it aside. She looked at me with pleading eyes, teary and red. I quietly took her into my arms. She started sobbing into my chest, shoulders heaving every few seconds. Her breathing was ragged and syncopated if you could call it that. Gently rubbing circles in her back, I asked if I could take her back home. She slowly nodded., going limp from the physical and mental exertion. I picked her up bridal style as I headed back to the portal that went to my lab.
While I got some odd looks from newer employees, no one bothered asking me about it. I told one of the leading scientists that I would be doing some more research on how "she reacts to domestic life". She nodded and continued managing the project she was in charge of.
Y/N unconscious in my arms, I walked home. It wasn't too far, and was why I often had late nights. Dib and Gaz were thankfully well adjusted to this by now.
"What happened this time?" Gas asked, not looking away from her game. Then again, her eyes were like mine—almost always closed—it was hard to tell where she was looking if she didn't tilt her head.
I was about to answer, but Y/N started to shift in my arms. Gaz nodded and told me to go ahead and "tell her later when Y/N was calmed down". I quickly said a thank you and ducked into my private, at-home lab.
Placing Y/N on a long metal table, I hooked her up to several medical machines I had recently gotten to monitor her vitals.
Heart Rate: 86 bpm
Blood Pressure: 122/80
Oxygen Saturation: 98
Respiration: 16
Temperature: 35.5 °C (around 96 °F)
Everything looked normal, at least. That's good. Suddenly, her heart rate skyrocketed. I looked over to her, when she suddenly bolted up, screaming. Her hair flew up around her and her eyes were once again a cream color. Loose papers and light objects were lifted far away from their places. I would have to clean that up later, but this was more important. I rushed over to her, gravity seemingly increasing the closer I got.
"Y/N! Y/N LISTEN TO ME!" She was still screaming, not even noticing I was there. Muttering a quick sorry under my breath, I slapped her across her cheek. Everything suddenly stopped. She paused, now holding her sore cheek, and looked around.
"I did it again, didn't I?" She mumbled.
Her (e/c) eyes widened as she turned her gaze back to me. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry." Her eyes started to tear up once more.
"What are you sorry for?"
Voice cracking, she tried to say something. "I-I made you come... all the way out there and-and-and I just-" She couldn't finish what she was saying through her tears. She mumbled incoherently about what she was trying to say before finally violently spitting out, "ALL BECAUSE I GOT A FUCKING HEADACHE!" She once again broke down into tears as she pressed herself against my chest.
"Hey, it's okay," I whispered, "You have to deal with a lot. It can get pretty overwhelming sometimes. It's okay." Her sobbing eventually dwindled down until all that was left were red eyes.
"Th-thank you," she said, "I mean it. You didn't have to do anything but-"
"Of course I did. You're one of us. You're a Membrane—even the kids love you. Gaz included. And that's saying something." I smiled under my high collared coat. She giggled. Dios mío, ella es tan linda.
She hugged me tightly, before smirking and saying into my neck, "Yeah, you are too."

The Astral (Electromagnetic) Tides
“The Seasonal Tides (Tempora) result from two influences: the major influence being the effect of the solar particles which bombard Earth’s odic mantle, and the minor being the stresses set up within that odic mantle by the earth’s axial inclination.
Od is the dynamic aspect of Astral Light, whether manifesting as the aura of a living being, whether existing as an astral current or as a charge in a consecrated object, or whether manifesting as a physical phenomenon: the earth’s magnetic field, magnetism, electricity, etc.
The aspects of these Seasonal Tides should be reversed when considered from the point of view of someone in the Southern Hemisphere i.e. the Summer Solstice (June 21st) in the Northern Hemisphere is the Winter Solstice in the Southern.
These tides are also modified by other tides, such as the Lunar Tides (Aestus), which correspond to the phases of the moon, so that they change four times in the month.
The Full Moon is the time of greatest power: the First Quarter is by nature akin to all inception and growth.
The potency of the Lunar Tides fluctuates also from one season of the year to another. The New Moon is at its most magical in the springtime, while the “Harvest Moon” is notably the most powerful tide of the Full Moon.
The last series of Tides to be considered (Velocia), are those that constitute rhythmic fluctuations in the Earth’s odic mantle: they flow from east to west.
These elemental tides (with their Tattva attributions) are:
Spirit (Akasha).
Air (Vayu).
Fire (Tejas).
Water (Apas).
Earth (Prithivi).
From sunrise, each tide, in the order given above, rules for 24 minutes, with a complete cycle taking 2 hours. This then repeats over the course of 24 hours.”
Excerpts from “The Sword and the Serpent” by Melita Denning and Osborne Phillips (1988), initiates of the Aurum Solis.

high flying, pt. 4 | [b.b]
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x superhero!Reader
Summary: you’ve found where the guys are being held captive, but you and peter are outnumbered.
Word Count: 2536 (it’s a doozy, i know)
Author’s note: well, here’s the final part! hopefully you guys enjoy it. this part was fairly easy to write, as this part was the whole reason I wanted split in different parts. I’m very grateful for the feedback, and I hope you guys drop some more comments and love :)
Warnings: fighting, violence, some intense stuff. of course, swearing.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
Tumblr media
The cold wind started to pick up on top of the tower. The team was around 800 feet above, on the barren top. Steve, Sam, Bucky and Tony were all tied together, suspended in mid air with an electromagnet, a surefire way to keep them detained.
While suspended, Bucky thought about the last time he saw you. He knew he should’ve asked you out before he left. It’s been set that there are mutual feelings for each other, but why he didn’t bother making a move, is beyond him.
But he keeps thinking about the mysterious woman in lavender. Her familiarity through the video he saw more than a week ago, the reminiscence of her scent through the compound. It just didn’t make sense.
Tony started to grow restless as the sign of backup was nowhere near. “This is ridiculous,” he started, “I have the best tech in the world, and here I am: tied up like an amateur.”
“To be fair, it’s electromagnetic,” Sam huffed, “these fools aren’t dumb either. They took all our tech, and it’s sitting right there. Now that’s absolutely humiliating.”
“Any sign of a reply, Buck?” Steve asked, while ignoring the bickering.
“Nothing, Steve,” Bucky replied. “The last message I sent was before our quinjet was ransacked. Haven’t felt my phone vibrate or anything.”
“Plus it’s hard to check your lover’s messages while you’re tied up.” Tony added.
“Whatever, we’re all on the same boat.” Bucky muttered.
It looked really funny to see the Earth’s strongest heroes just seemingly dangling, defenseless. The agent gone rogue thinks so as well. He had started his spiel on how Stark Industries had fucked him over, the usual disgruntled speech of a fresh MIT graduate.
The man then called over his henchmen and one stood in front of each Avenger, weapons raised at them. The agent demanded some rights to the company, some clearance, some money. Tony rolled his eyes and told the agent that he had no part in any part of the company, as all of his ideas were purposely made to self-sabotage Tony.
The agent stared Tony dead in his eyes. Then he walked over to Bucky.
“You have an asset that I actually want.”
“Man, you’re delusional. I don’t have anything you’d want.” Bucky coldly answered.
“On the contrary. That girl of yours? She’s absolutely helpless right now. There’s guys already at the compound, taking her away to live her worst nightmare.”
Bucky’s face slightly fell. He can’t show any emotion, not like this. His past is coming back to haunt him, and his old commanders aren’t even affiliated this time around. His stress levels went through the roof, and here he was: defenseless and no way to sucker-punch the agent.
“She’s not even an Avenger, she won’t tell you anything.” Sam intercepted.
“Ah, but she knows the in’s and out’s of the technology, the one thing I value. Plus, she’d be nice arm candy, a prize of some sorts.”
Now Bucky’s blood was boiling, he spat at the agent’s face, and the agent didn’t bat an eye. Instead, he had another guy slap Bucky in the face.
“Pathetic, even for you, Barnes,” the agent said. “Now then, let’s get this over with so I can start my new company, an ethical one.”
The agent then pulled out a small remote from his pocket, and smiled at the tied up Avengers.
“Your worst nightmare is about to start. Say goodbye to everything.”
As the agent is about to press on the remote, a loud thwap! is heard as a white blob sticks to his hand, and consequently to the machine behind him.
“What the fuck is on my hand,” the agent hollered as he tried to break free from the machine. Another splat! is heard, this time sticking the other hand above the agent’s head.
“Oh you know, webbing.”
Peter swooped in and tried to get a hold of the remote, but the agent stomped on it before Peter could stop him.
“Look at you, not even a child could save you from this,” the agent cackled as Peter scrambled to where the guys were.
“Kid! Why are you alone,” Tony gasped, “Where’s the backup??”
“No one was there! I didn’t come alone, though. We go— hey! Let me go!”
As the henchmen neared Peter, one got close enough to where Bucky was able to knock one out with his boot, and as a result, got punched in the face. The henchman quickly grabbed Peter and shoved him to the floor, where they stepped on his back to make sure he wouldn’t move.
Things were looking bleak, and the agent was growing relentless.
“Oh, you guys are sad,” the agent taunted, “Boys! Time for the backup plan. And make sure it hurts.”
Soon, a swarm of more henchmen came in, surrounding the perimeter of the roof. As the henchmen started nearing the captives, with weapons in hand, Peter let out a loud whistle.
In almost rapid succession, a bright flash of lavender light ripped through the sky. Another flash struck through the roof, injuring the henchman that took a hold of Peter.
“What in the actual hell was that,” Bucky screamed.
Peter stood up and looked towards the Avengers and flashed a wide smile.
“It’s back up!” Peter cheered.
Sure enough, there you were, radiating (and floating) in your lavender aura, your now lavender hair reflecting with the sunset. With a silver staff in one hand, and a lavender orb in the other, you were a force to be reckoned with. You flew down to where the roof was and teamed up with Peter.
As you saw the never-ending sea of men, you started doing your manipulating magic, while Peter was doing hand to hand combat and trying to wrangle up the henchmen into one spot. You used your staff to emit bright lights to blind the henchmen, and then run up to them to suckerpunch them.
As the guys started seeing the chaos unfold, everything started clicking to Bucky. The flowers, the kite rescue, the video, the lavender, hell, even the rose scent started to make sense. Bucky finally put two and two together, and it was when the minor amnesia fell started to wear off he realized:
“Y/N??” Bucky exclaimed, “It’s you!”
You quickly glanced up to Bucky’s level and smiled, “Of course, sweetheart! Who else would it be.”
“Y/N can kick ass!” Sam replied, “That’s fucking awesome.”
As the guys tried to piece what was going on, and you were trying to set them free, the rogue agent ripped the webbing and charged towards you.
Bucky shouted look out! And as you turned around, you leapt and flipped over the agent, while also bringing out your staff to trip him. You and him were face to face, him with a large vibranium beam, and you with your staff.
“It’s over for you, young lady,” the agent growled.
“Bite me, scum,” replied as the two of you charged at each other. Your lavender hair started glowing as you raised your staff. The two weapons made a loud clang! as they made contact with each other, and you used your magic to throw the agent off his balance.
It did, and you used that to get your staff and strike him once more, then using more magic to make him float, then threw him across the roof, and made him crash against the giant electromagnetic machine.
It started to spark, and the agent noticed: it meant that it was going to combust. Before the agent could escape, you used your magic once more to suspend in the air once more, this time letting his stay there.
You told Peter to start wrapping the agent up in webbing, and as he did, the machine started to make more clamoring noises. It would sputter parts towards you, and you did your best to fend them off. Finally, you manifested a force field around the machine and boom! it had collapsed on itself.
Peter cheered as you made the move, but then the screams of the Avengers as their trap had started falling 20 towards the roof’s floor. It was a sight to be seen (and heard).
I got it! You hollered. Acting fast, you used another spell to carefully bring the guys down, and had them slowly suspend downwards to the floor.
As the guys touched the floor, Sam made it a big deal to start kissing the floor, and hugging Peter tightly, as he now can walk. Tony and Steve looked dazed and confused, Tony more confused than anything. Steve, on the other hand, was just dazed, but started wagging his finger at you.
“I should have known,” Steve started, “my gut was right. This has your name written all over it!”
“I wasn’t ready!” you argued, “I had no way to practice, and well, I had to do it under your guys’ noses.”
Steve just sighed, and then there was Bucky.
Bucky had thought he’d seen it all. This was definitely a change.  Bucky walked up to you and started to stroke your hair.
He whispered, “it all makes sense. It was you this whole time...”
“I’m sorry I couldn’t tell you guys any sooner, I just didn’t want to be pressured into this stuff prematurely,” you shyly responded.
“Sorry we had to find out this way, Doll,” Bucky said, “but I can’t believe I was so… clueless to this.”
“Oh, that wasn’t an accident, Buck,” you said, “I may or may not casted an amnesia spell at the many times you caught me using my powers.”
“Huh,” Bucky simply said, “is that what it was? I thought it was old age.”
You laughed, “not this time.”
It was Tony’s turn to speak, “young lady, you are ruthless. I wish you would’ve told me sooner. But, whenever you’re ready to join the initiative, let me know pronto. We could really use someone as kickass as you.”
As police started showing up to the scene, all of you started to leave when Peter piped up: “Uh, Y/N, aren’t you forgetting something?”
You raised your eyebrow and then smacked your forehead: right, the lunatic. You walked up to the floating agent and stopped the magic, letting him crash to the ground unceremoniously. You used your magic to manifest some handcuffs and then used your staff to smack him across the head.
“Never underestimate the power of a woman, you psycho,” you stated, as you handed him off to the police.
“You haven’t heard the last of me, freak!” the agent croaked out, as he was jetted away by police helicopter. With one final flick of magic, you made a slingshot and used some of Peter’s webbing to thwack it on the criminals face.
Ugh, boys, you thought to yourself. They’ll never learn, but you’ll always be glad to take some dumbasses down.
。。
two weeks later
Things have leveled out at the compound. You’ve become a nationwide sensation after a news station was able to capture a portion of the fight. Needless to say, you’ve become everyone’s sweetheart. Girls of all ages, especially, are in awe of their new role model.
In quick succession, you were catapulted to becoming the next mightiest hero, and your friends could not be more proud. It felt nice to finally have some weight lifted off your shoulder. You can finally fight crime with your friends, and use your powers with no fear.
Not to mention, you have your very own personal cheerleader: Bucky. He was the most shocked about your background, and has also been the most supported. He was fascinated in how you trained, and found every excuse to train with you. He was in awe (and in love) with you.
Time had passed since the big reveal and now you were outside, practising with your staff and basking in the sun. You grew tired and started to lie on the ground. You heard footsteps from behind and then felt someone lie next to you.
“Hi Buck,” you greeted, not needing to open your eyes to know it was him.
“You got psychic powers too, Doll? Because you can’t even see if it was me or not,” Bucky jokes.
“No, but I can tell by your footsteps, dummy,” you said, turning over to him and giving him a peck on the cheek.
It’s still a tug and pull with the status of the terms of your relationship with Bucky, but you decided today was the day.
As Bucky laughed, he saw your staff by your feet. He sat up, and gravitated towards it. As he saw it up close, he was mesmerized by the etching of flowers on it. The star on top of the staff would only glow brighter in his hand.
“I still can’t believe you wouldn’t tell me about this,” Bucky said after a moment of silence, eyes still on the staff.
You sat up, “it’s nothing personal, Buck. I just wasn’t trained or ready enough to handle my powers. Plus, it’s not everyday you see a girl manipulating things in front of people’s eyes. It tends to scare people.”
Bucky nodded, “I still think you’re an amazing person, whether or not you had them. This is just the cherry on top. And it makes my heart swell when you’re out and about helping those in need. Not to mention you look cute while doing it”
You blushed at the last comment, “thank you Bucky, I think you look handsome yourself.”
“Then I guess this might be a good time to ask you out formally?” Bucky suggested, “I know we’re both fond of each other, and I want to keep being by your side. Also, Steve pressured me to do it otherwise he’d smack me.”
“Of course,” you answered through giggles, “I would gladly go out with you, Buck. It would make me the happiest girl.”
A chaste kiss on the lips was shared between the two of you, relief washing over you two. The two of you then started to lean  on each other, enjoying the scenery. Then, a thought came to mind.
“Hey Buck?”
“Yeah, Doll?”
“Remember that one time in the conference room when we were watching footage of me fighting, and you said you could take me down easily?”
“... no…”
You rolled your eyes and laughed, “how ‘bout I take you up on the offer. Loser has to buy dinner.”
“Not happening, sweetheart,” Bucky chuckled, “I would never hurt such a beautiful dame like you.”
“How  about if I lose, I’ll do anything you ask me to.”
“Now you’ve piqued my interest, doll.” Bucky said as he stood up and threw you over his shoulders.
You started smacking his back, and then decided to tickle him, causing him to lose his grip on you. You grabbed your staff once more from your back, and started wagging the point towards him.
“Don’t make me use this on you!” you halfheartedly threatened.
“I’ll gladly fall under any spell for you, doll,” Bucky retaliated.
The rest of the day was spent tackling each other, with an occasional clanging of metal, and the constant shower of kisses between you and Bucky.

In the recent weeks he knew some of the burden had fallen on Steve's shoulders. There were other things going on within his own family that needed to be addressed and taken care of, but he didn't even know where to start. Damian and Dick's absence from the large table was strange, discomforting, and his expression was more grim than usual.
Also notable was the addition of the X-Men. He'd never worked with them before in this capacity, but he knew what they were capable of. Over the years, he'd built up a mutual respect with Scott Summers and, perhaps to a lesser extent, Emma Frost, but the others he was much less familiar with. Scott was already in the know.
"The X-Men have joined us because we have a plan. One that will involve every person in this room." No greeting and no small talk. He wanted to get straight to the point.
CYCLOPS: Scott didn't conduct things in quite the same removed fashion that Bruce usually addressed people, but they weren't there for greetings and small talk. If there had ever been a time for that, it was long since passed. "All of us in this room have a part to play in eradicating a threat that is becoming so ingrained and systemic in our world, that if we fail to address it now we may not get another chance. The X-Men," he glanced briefly toward the faces who had accompanied him there from District X, "will do it standing beside the League. Whatever ills mutants have faced alone in the past, we don't need to face NOVA alone. We can't."
"Several weeks ago, a NOVA detention facility was destroyed outside the city." His gaze flickered briefly to Lorna, masked entirely by his visor, "There are others like it. Mutants, metahumans, and other enemies of NOVA are being held there illegally. I won't go into detail about the things being done to them in captivity. Whatever your imagination tells you, it's likely worse. We need them removed, the facilities shut down and reduced to be non-operational. My X-Men and I will assist the League in making sure this is done. Many of you have asked me when we would make our move, what I was waiting for. Here it is."
He had the information that Tony would be presenting and he already knew what part he meant his people to play. X-Force had been reconvened for a reason. They could handle the unknown and the half-known. "Iron Man has uncovered something disturbing that we can't ignore. Our X-Force team will be going alongside members of the League to investigate. We expect resistance. Beyond that..." he spread his hands, "be ready."
CAPTAIN AMERICA: Steve looked first at Bruce and then at Scott, wondering what it was like to lead large groups with little to no inclination to speak to the members like people and to just regurgitate information. He just... had never functioned that way. Maybe it was because he wasn't some kind of super genius, or maybe it was because he had gotten his start in the army rather than alone or at fifteen on a team of child soldiers assembled with little to no prior training before they were flung out into the world. He was used to talking to people as just another person. As someone who had to connect and convey urgency. "I think a little bit of context is necessary here," he said simply. While they could all just cut to the chase, he was sure it would eliminate questions to fill people in on what the hell they were talking about.
"As you all know, several months ago we had our first meeting of the Avenging League, wherein teams were assigned and objectives were given. X-Men, to fill you in, we have been working on NOVA on five fronts. Bruce and Scott are referring to the findings from some of those teams. The patrol team, meanwhile, has been discrediting NOVA and diffusing violent patrols on the streets whenever possible. I'll leave Bruce to explain the findings, but suffice it to say that our more technical side of things, particularly Oracle and Red Robin, have been working on hacking in to NOVA's systems for all those months as well. However, as Bruce said, it was Tony who discovered something urgent enough to call us all to order."
He glanced at several members seated around the massive table before continuing, "Last meeting, we were interrupted by Robin coming in with what we now know to be a prototype of one of NOVA's inhibitors, the effects of which were what caused the city-wide loss of powers during the Joker's crime spree. Tony, Bruce Banner, and formerly Princess Shuri had done work on figuring out what we were dealing with and Tony came to me last week with a... disturbing hypothesis on how they managed to pull all of it off. That's a big part of why we're here. It's time to start acting, as Scott has said."
He knew that the X-Men hadn't necessarily carried the same ideas as the League or the Avengers in the past, but he wanted to make it perfectly clear that they were allies this time around. "The X-Men and their X-Force will be invaluable help in dealing with this. For all intents and purposes, we're all on the same team. Scott, Bruce, and I are going to make sure the efforts are evenly divided to get the job done, but we need to deal with this threat quickly and efficiently. This is what we've been waiting for. I'm gonna pass the floor to Tony to explain further what we're dealing with. Tone?" He looked to his friend, knowing he could definitely articulate things more clearly.(edited)
IRON MAN: Cyclops wasn't as dry as Batman, but it was a close call. Tony didn't exactly mind, because he wasn't in the mood to listen to a bunch of small talk when he was eager and ready to share what he knew with the rest of the league. He'd never been the best at teamwork or collaboration, but he'd come a long way from where he started. By now, he was smart enough to realize that there were plenty of capable people working around him, even if they weren't on the same team, and he was especially impressed by those working the digital side of things. They were also the only team he had regular communication with.
He was out of his seat before Steve finished talking. Pressing a button illuminated a blue, 3-D model of the city above the center of the table. "Caught some footage from my suit during a flyover." It didn't occur to him to explain that this happened only because Hulk had split the concrete. He breezed by that point, instead changing the view so the ground lit up in yellow criss-crossing lines. "There's a whole grid system underneath the city. The inhibitors are all underground." He pointed at each intersecting line. "We're talking far. The grid goes as far down as a mile areas with a higher elevation. It was lucky for us that the portion I caught was high enough to be unearthed at all. There are thousands of them, all connected, which means they likely have the same power source."
Changing the view, he rotated the city so they were looking at it from above. The yellow color was brighter along the water. "I also picked up an area, near the harbor, that is giving off much stronger radiation. Energy. Much too strong to be just an inhibitor. My hypothesis is that they have an underwater facility. Connecting underground tunnels that gave them the ability to set up this entire grid without any of us being the wiser. They did it all right under our nose."
ORACLE: Babs sure did have a time not cutting over people, eyes mostly just focused on Tony once she heard that he had things to share. It wasn't that she was uncaring about the X-Men, quite the opposite. She was happy they were here, but she wanted to know the news more than anything else. She almost smirked as Tony rose from his chair, sensing the same impatience in him. Keen eyes inspect the model before them, even rising from her chair and leaning forward silently to get a full look. At the news of the same power source though, she smirked. That's something they can deal with, even if it was underwater.
"Well, that big of an energy reading means that they're leaving a nice bread crumb trail for me," she'd already had her laptop out at this point, and she goes from looking at the model to typing quickly, though doesn't break her thought process, "Give me time and I can get a rough estimate of where the power source specifically should be. A layout will take more time, their systems are tricky but not impossible. Any entrance would help in that department." Unlike most everyone else, she could start her work right away.
BLUE BEETLE: Teddy had been working on the same team as Tony so far, so the news he was sharing wasn’t a surprise. He’d never been the most confident when it came to situations like this, usually his input was ignored or not even asked for. But he had been given a job as part of the Tech group and had some less than thrilling news to share. “We’ll likely need one. In fact any way we could try and get a head of this would be smart.” Ted said, his voice quieter than his usual boisterous nature as he rose to his feet. “See, Tony charged me with working a kind of Faraday Cage, something we could use to block any kind of electromagnetic fields. It would stop the pulses their technology sends out and render it useless in the affect it has on anyone with enhanced abilities.” He explained. “Ideally this could’ve been equipped on someone like Stinger,” he nodded at Cassie, “But it’s just not feasible.”
“Despite having a great deal of experience in this area,” his damn backpack could fly off and produce one, “Every prototype I’ve been able to create just isn’t strong enough to effect the web they’ve already weaved.” He adjusted his goggles, a little nervously and continued, “I could eventually make something strong enough to neutralise it but I’d need time, weeks, maybe even months to make a finished, reliable piece of tech that I’d be confident in risking someone going in with.” Ted wasn’t about to put someone’s life at risked with a rushed piece of equipment. “And… given who we’re dealing with, I don’t think we have that much time to waste.” ICEMAN: As Teddy returned to his seat Bobby spoke up from the other side of the room “We don’t.” His voice certain. Bobby’s bottom jaw jutted forwards a little bit, as though thinking hard on what he was going to say (a rare thing for him) “I dunno all the work you’ve been doing. But I’ve been doing recon on behalf of the X-Men. I’ve gotten a look deep inside NOVA’s workings and the shit they’re doing to people… to children-“ he cut off and swallowed, going quiet while the temperature around him dropped by several degrees, his emotions getting the better of him like they almost always did. He cleared his throat, “We don’t have months. We don’t have weeks. We don’t even have days.” He looked around at the other faces in the room. “They need to be stopped and they need to be stopped now. Whatever it takes. Go in guns blazing get the damn media involved if helps.” He shook his head slightly, running a hand through his hair, obviously agitated.
ZATARA: “That won’t help.” Zach hadn’t gone into this affair planning to say a thing, he was new to the group, one of the younger members and probably disliked by several of the others in the room. But he could offer one insight the rest of them probably lacked. “That one article the paper got out the first time hurt them some and the fallout of that was NOVA coming down hard on the political powers in the city. I’m pretty close to the Mayor and his wife so believe me when I say they’ve got their claws embedded deep into the politics and the papers. Even if we went public with this information, gave it over to reputable journalists anyway? They’d have a hell of a time getting it out in any official way and even if they did NOVA has the influence to spin it any way they like. Doesn’t help that that Nabel woman’s got enough PR skills to make my agents jealous.” He added wryly. “We’re on our own here.”
FLASH: "We need an opening." Barry spoke up from another part of the room. He had been biting his tongue - trying to contain his natural urge to meet-and-greet with all of the new faces that were there since their last official meeting. "We have been making steady process, but without an opening to exploit we aren't going to be getting anywhere. Inhibitor networks miles underground or inside mountains... that isn't an issue. Normally, speedsters like myself or Wally could just phase ourselves through the ground to get to them. It's tricky phasing downwards instead of forwards, but it could be done. Underwater, however? We can run on top of the water - but not through it." He shook his head. "Zach and---I don't know your name, sorry; I'm not the one with the files on everyone--" Barry grins playfully and shoots a look a Bruce before clearing his throat and continuing. "They're right though. We don't have the time to plan things out any long than this meeting. We need to come up with a course of action and we need to do so in a speedy manner."
SUPERMAN: The sheer number of people in that room would have been enough to give anyone hope, surely. Had there ever been a larger, better equipped, more motivated group ready to take action? He couldn't recall one. He knew little of the X-Men, though he'd been into District X a handful of times, but they seemed as eager and prepared to make their move as the League. Moreso, maybe. Their struggles had gone on long before NOVA was in the picture.
He opened his mouth to say something to that effect, but Zach's mention of the papers turned his attention elsewhere. "NOVA doesn't have their hands in everything. The Gazette has been standing against them for months. We do have a voice, and we're using it when we can. Taking direct action against NOVA is only one step. We need the people on our side, and we've been working since the day the League reformed to make sure that's happening. The Gazette is doing it with us. But even without that..." he made a broad gesture with one hand around the room that had seemed so large but with all the teams present was nearing capacity, "are we really that few?"
"For those of us heading underwater who can't manage it naturally, I have plenty of confidence that our tech team can compensate. Anyone here taken scuba lessons?" The grin he wore wasn't at all because he wasn't taking it seriously. He was. He knew everything they stood to lose, everything that inaction had cost them and so many other people, but when he looked around that room he knew that it would finally be dealt with. It was worth smiling about.
NIGHTCRAWLER: Kurt had stationed himself in a proper vantage point in the room - nestled quite comfortably up in one corner near the ceiling; hands and feet clinging him to the walls with ease. There were so many people, it was astounding when you got them all together in one room. It really opened his eyes to just how many people were working to help keep the people of this City safe and to help rid them of the NOVA situation that plagued them all. The mutant recognized only a handful of non-mutants; most by reputation and name alone and others by former relations - such as the faces of several Avengers team members. The man couldn't help but frown as Bobby spoke from another part of the room. He wanted to comfort him - seeing his expression change as his emotions took hold of him - but there was a time and place for that and this wasn't one of them. Once 'Superman' had finished speaking about his confidence in the teams they had assembled, Kurt took the opportunity to speak - keeping his pace slow so his accent wouldn't make it too hard to understand him.
"I personally haf followed efery story ze Gazette has put out regarding mutant relations or ze situation ve haf vis NOVA. Zey are expertly written and judging from ze online forums of various chat groups sroughout ze city, zere is a large amount of support backing ze ideologies zey are composed of." He explained. "I cannot speak so much on tactical advice as I can on my own matters - I am a teleporter; ze X-Men's 'Nightcrawler' and vherefer ve need to get into; I am my Bamfs are at your disposal." He gave a nod of respect to their 'leaders'.
RED ROBIN: Tim listened, knowing better than to get involved until he had more information. "Babs and I have nailed down the coordinates of the detention facilities outside the city like the one Magneto attacked. We have all those official locations." It had taken months to crack their system, but once they had, it had come easily.
He moved his spot to settle next to Babs, pulling out his own machine to begin working with her. "We'll help however we can, including zeroing in on a signal for this new underwater facility." He didn't have too much more to add. He had been so busy with nailing down things about Dick's assault that he hadn't focused on the League as much as he should, but now that he was close to cracking that, too, he could put much more effort in.
BRUCE BANNER: Bruce was momentarily grateful for Tony's focus on certain details while completely ignoring others. It wasn't as if everyone in that room wouldn't have known what happened, what Hulk had done, and Bruce did struggle to compartmentalize it enough to accept something good coming of it. It had though, at least in this case. Minimal injuries, maximum and unexpected information. Not that he was going to take any kind of credit for smashing holes in the ground.
"What you're looking for is similar to gamma radiation, but it's not..." he spread his hands, and looked between Barbara and Tim, "it's not like anything I've seen before. If you find the focal point, wherever that's strongest, that's where we'll need to be."
SUPERGIRL: Kara squirmed in her seat at the mention of the media. Both Lois and Clark worked for the Gazette and had been producing articles shining the light on NOVA's terrible actions. Even though she knew what they knew, it didn't prepare her to hear the details from both Scott and Bobby. Wincing, she looked down at her hands. "How long?" She directed the question at Bruce, Steve, and Scott. "Before we make a move, I mean." They said there was a plan. It didn't seem likely, given the circumstances, that they would sit around longer than they had to.
NIGHTSTAR: M'gann paid close attention. This was her first official hero meeting and she intended to remember every detail of it. Down to the cookies Supergirl had brought. There were far more heroes than she'd expected, many of them familiar faces. She took great comfort in that.
"I might be of some use in finding these underground facilities. My telepathy extends out like a globe. It would be easier if I had a specific person to track." An exact telepathic signature. "But people being kept underground is unusual. I should be able to sense them without too much trouble." The rest of what she could do, the team leaders already knew.
HONEY BADGER: This is the first time Gabby has ever seen so many different people in the same room that were like her! It was kind of amazing if she was being honest with herself but this is a serious meeting. This wasn’t the first time Gabby had been in one but it was the first time when it was for something good. She took a handful of cookies — four of them laid out on a napkin in front of her as her feet kicked back and forth while listening to everyone else speak first.
“We have to help everyone in those facilities, I agree with Bobby. We should be doing everything that it takes. I know what it’s like to be poked and prodded at in places exactly like where NOVA is operating. I’m willing to take the risk so we don’t leave those people in there because they might not have much time.” She crushes a piece of the cookie she broke off in her hand so crumbs fall into her lap. Gabby tries to collect herself, looking over at her family for a moment then back to everyone else in the room.  “I don’t care what someone has done, treating anyone like an experiment isn’t okay.”
She takes a quick bite of whatever is left of the sweet in her hand, trying to calm herself down. “I’m sorry. I’m just really passionate about this sort of thing. I just want the world to better for everyone — Mutants, Meta-Humans, and animals too. Whatever plan we come up with, I want to be part of it.” Her mind trying to ignore flashbacks to her upbringing.
POLARIS: Lorna couldn't help the guarded look she wore, arms crossed firmly across her chest as she peers around. Sure, one could argue that she had reason to trust those around them now, but she only trusted those she knew. Her eyes dart between the people talking tech, and if Bobby hadn't burst out she would have. Still, she takes a breath. It's quite difficult in the moment, not to snap, not to break in, but hearing the sentiment of brute force makes her shake her head as people speak. She choses her words carefully, more than aware that it's possible others here may know she was with Magneto, more than the couple that did. Still, she wasn't about to shy away from saying her thoughts, and if it came up, then it came up.
"If Magneto showed us one thing, it's that brute strength will backfire on us. The short term saving mutants will be a success, yes, but at this point the long-term repercussions could be catastrophic. Think a mob of civilians descending on District X-- people we don't want to fight." her eyes go to Gabby and Bobby, but land on the man who spoke just before him, "My powers work with the Earth's magnetic fields, and metal. Is there something that I could help with? I know how to create electromagnetic pulses. I... can feel what they have. The web, and I could feel an underground facility if I had time," her eyes turn to Tony Stark, trying to explain, "If you can help me narrow down any materials they're using in construction I may be able to get a better sense, too.... but it may involve concentrating in a very obvious area... like in the air above it. Not sure if that's helpful. " she shrugs with a sigh, turning to her teammates particularly. Normally ready to go in guns blazing with NOVA, she's trying to take a moment.
"If we repeat what happened, we'll have more fallout to deal with. The brief amount of time that it takes to get a layout and a plan together is worth it. Unless we want to be grouped with Magneto some more."
ROGUE: Anna stiffened, her gloved hands folded on the table, but she didn't say anything at first. She hadn't been involved in what happened at the first facility, or fully supportive of the move in the first place, but that was exactly why she'd stayed out of it. Her gaze went to Wanda, as if to see if she were at all affected by the topic of her father being raised at the table.
Normally she was all for going in hard and strong. All the tech talk wasn't her style and she didn't really know what any of them were talking about, so it wasn't something she could offer help on. "Dunno if that's such a good idea, sugah," she said to Lorna under her breath, but she was looking at Scott. Erik had worked with the X-Men plenty of times in the past, but she couldn't imagine him willing to take orders from a group that included so many non-mutants.
MOXIE: She was told to keep her words concise and professional. This was not a time to mince friendly words with others, though she could barely contain her excitement to be a part of something greater than anything she had ever seen in her life.
“Well, first of all,” she started, standing from her seat when it was her turn to speak, blueprints in hand. “Thank youse for bringing me on board. I ain’t much of a hero myself but if I’ve been invited here, that must mean I’m bringing something to the table, right?“
Without another moment’s pause she presented one of the blueprints, unfurling it on the table. She would gesture a hand towards the different aspects of her design as she spoke.
“Sorry it’s on this silly little blue paper. I like to keep things old fashioned, ya know? Feel free to pass it around to the higher ups over there. I understand youse need extra support under the water. I myself did some digging on the currents here. They’re not any more pleasant to the kinda waters I’ve experienced back home. Taking that into consideration with my daddy’s notes on the conditions of the water he had left before he passed, I’ve been working on some deflector technology that could be attached to anyone’s suits, which could provide extra support while you’re lookin’ for these facilities. I used my Heart of Gold as a reference, but because some of it is influenced by magic and I’m not magic at all, I substituted that with a modified magnetic wave field that serves a similar purpose to “Nyx’s Blessing,” which will deflect any projectiles coming towards you on land or underwater, in this case. It’s activated by your heartbeat and breathing patterns so if you sense something is wrong, it’ll give you a small barrier to protect you.”
An anxious grin followed, swallowing the forming lump in her throat.
“But y’know, if that’s not suitable, I’ve got other plans I’m willing to share with the technology team to provide my experience on the kinda conditions and obstacles we’ll have to look out for if we’re going underwater. I have access to all my daddy’s old notes. Seeing as he was an Atlantean, I’m sure the materials would still be useful and their technology is more advanced, from what he told me.”
BLACK WIDOW: Natasha sat by Logan rather than James this go around. It wasn’t all that often that the X-Men and the Avengers were in the same room together and it wasn’t for some fight. So she was pleased that she could actually settle beside her friend. Since the incident with the inhibitors and leaving Clint, they had been meeting up semi-regularly just to drink and talk. Not much beyond that. Now here they were about to take down NOVA. She bit her lip as she listened, taking in the influx of information. “Wanda and Billy could help those of us who need help with the breathing underwater issue, right?” She had, in fact, taken scuba lessons, but it didn’t seem pertinent to bring it up.
She was also aware of the heightened emotions in the room and she ignored them for the most part. This was a mission briefing. “I’m sure that Cap, Batman, and Cyclops have a plan, and I’m sure it won’t include mass destruction of the facilities and every living thing inside that doesn’t ping for mutant, meta, or enhanced.” If it did, she’d still do what she was told, but it would still shock her. Cap didn’t work like that and neither did Batman. She didn’t speak for Cyclops. The X-Men had done their share of death. Not that she blamed them. Sometimes it was the best way to go about things. “Let’s give them a minute to tell us what we need to be focusing on. A lot of us have been running recon, so we’re aware of what’s going on on the inside. I’m sure that’s why we’re here.”
She listened to the new girl speak, blinking at how she sounded like she was from an mafia movie about Capone. She’d been around in the 20s, but she didn’t remember it. Surprising. “It seems like a good idea,” she said. “So we aren’t completely relying on powers in case the inhibitors pop.
ZATANNA: "I've enchanted charms to grant glamours and certain physical protections before. I wouldn't even need to be near them or concentrating on the spell. Water breathing wouldn't be much of a problem. But," As much as she hated to admit any shortcomings, Zatanna obviously had the foresight to plan in situations like this. Recalling her very similar conversation with Barry, the corners of her mouth turned down a smidge. "They haven't been tested near inhibitors. And relying on them underwater isn't exactly the safest test run."
Zee shifted her weight from one foot to the other, glancing at Bruce, at Clark, at Diana, at the rest of the most familiar faces. It felt less like failure directing her statements to people who already knew. "I can provide heavy combat power until the second they decide to turn on the inhibitors. If we beat them to it, though, I can portal a good number of the people trapped there out."
GREEN ARROW: Oliver Queen had finally managed to return to Star City after well over a year's absence, and what he was met with was...worse than it had been. NOVA and The Justice--The Avenging League (he still needed to get used to that) were locked in an all out war, and it held Star City, HIS city, in a stranglehold. He wouldn't have it. Not at all. So, he jumped right back in, with briefings from both Clark and Bruce, and was finally back in the meeting. There were...a lot of personalities in the room. Some he knew well. Many he'd never even seen before. It was refreshing, in an odd way. Gave him hope that they may just pull this shit all off.
As he listened to the people talking, he couldn't help but feel like people were just...rattling stuff off. It felt structureless, like a city hall town meeting instead of a game plan. But, he was sure that Bruce had a plan. Bruce had a detailed plan for how he ate breakfast in the morning. "Alright, everyone," Oliver spoke up, putting his feet off the table he currently had them resting on. "I'm sure they know exactly what all of us are supposed to be doing. Just give the big guys a chance to speak. You all know what I can do, just point me and my bow in the direction of the bastards who are ruining my home."
BATWOMAN: This was a ridiculous amount of people. Kate was used to flying solo and only occasionally pairing up with maybe a handful of other heroes and heroines at most. Even as a part of the old Justice League, she had never really had to worry about dealing with the entirety of their membership. Here in Star City, however, under this - Avenging League - and now with the addition of the X-Men from District X, it was honestly a little overwhelming. Yet, she outwardly showed little expression - her jaw locked into a sharp frown and her body poised with a rigidness that mimicked Bruce's own. She listened to each person in turn as they spoke up, taking in the words they sad - no matter how heartfelt or generic the information they held seemed to be. Everyone has a part to play, no matter how small, and the only way they were going to deal with this NOVA group was by putting everything together into one solid plan.
To that end, the woman leaned forward - the brilliant red of her cowl's attached wig draping over her shoulders as she waited for Oliver to finish what he had to say. "Look," She began - her tone low and just slightly off-pitch thanks to the slight modulation tech incorporated into her cowl. "I'm rather new to everything going on here in Star City, so I've had to play catch up in an extremely short amount of time." She prefaced. "We need to look at this from a more tactical perspective. Yes, we each have bits and pieces of information to share, but we should be focusing our efforts on the biggest problem at hand - how do you assail an underwater fortification with possible inhibitor technology in place? We still don't know if they actually have inhibitors in place around the power core or not, right? All our planning and preparations aren't going to do a damn bit of good if only a tiny fraction of us can even make a stand." Kate finished her statement with a sigh. "We need plans - and we need contingencies for that plan; and more for those."
HUMAN TORCH: “Whatever the plan is, I’d like to officially unassign myself from computer duty and underwater mystery investigations.” Johnny wasn’t the “come up with a plan” guy. He was the “ball of fire and great hair” guy, and lately he’d only been the latter. Peter wasn’t going to go off the rails, and if he was tucked behind a screen with Oracle and Red Robin then it wasn’t like he was going to cause another scene. Johnny didn’t need to be there, and he definitely had no place in the ocean. That left the other thing. He was pretty sure in all the many many words that had been spoken, somebody had said a team would be going after the other NOVA detention centers. He wanted a spot. With a small shrug, he leaned back in his chair. “That’s all I got.”(edited)
SPEED: His first impression had been that everyone talks so much. it was almost enough for Tommy to try hiding under the table to sleep until it would be over. Although the only aspect that keeps him actually paying attention is the fact they’re talking about a topic familiar to him. His fingers grip onto the armrest of his chair as they vibrate just enough to disintegrate them into ash while everyone talks. You just might miss it if you weren’t paying attention but at least Tommy didn’t blow anything up.
He spent his entire childhood in and out of detention centers. It wasn’t until his powers came in that they slapped an inhibitor collar around his neck and threw him in a high security prison. He knows what if’s like to be treated like an animal and experimented on everyday.
“You should always plan on scum like that having inhibitor technology built into everything. They’re prepared even if it doesn’t appear like they are. It could be in every wall they build.” His voice finally fills the room as he leans forward, memories of his own torture playing on repeat in his mind. It doesn’t stop him from getting a word in though. He doesn’t have much else to add because Tommy knows they wouldn’t like hearing what he would like to do. If it were up to him every facility would be vaporized with the scientists with it.
BATGIRL: Stephanie had five cookies left, but none of them were chocolate chip, and suddenly that was the one she actually wanted. Her gaze darted over to the plate once or twice as she pondered whether or not it was worth calling attention to herself just for another cookie. Ultimately, the answer was yes.
But she was quick. It was just a coincidence that she got back to her seat just as it suddenly seemed to be her turn. Was she supposed to say something? Her gaze darted to Bruce, Tim, and Cass - in that order - but then she shrugged. "...Sounds good to me. Anything that's not circling the same city block twelve times in one night." Patrol was getting a little repetitive, even though she enjoyed making the embarrassing NOVA tweets and TikToks. The one trending right now was one showing an agent reaching for his weapon only to discover that it'd been replaced with a very large churro.
HUNTRESS: Helena knew this was serious talk, and she was taking it seriously, but she had never been one for good posture, or for being a leader, for that matter. She was more than comfortable listening to the plans form around her, her foot slung up on the edge of her seat, chin propped against her knee, messing with the hoop in her conch piercing. She was paying close attention, even if it didn't appear that way. It was a strategy she used often: if no one took her seriously or thought she wasn't paying attention, they'd let slip information they'd otherwise hide.
So she was prepared when the discussion rolled around and it seemed to be her turn to talk, and sat up straighter, dropping her hand from her ear. "I'm with Green Arrow. Give me a direction to point some arrows, and I'm good. If you need to keep someone in my ear for on-the-fly instructions, my only request is that it's Oracle, Blue Beetle, or Red Robin," she dropped a wink in their direction. She knew enough to know that they'd most likely describe her as the 'problem child' of the Birds and want to keep track of her so she didn't take things into her own hands if things started to go south."Beyond that, I just wanna take these fuckers down." She shrugged. "However you want to use me to do it, I'm willing to do. But uh... I do agree with Bat-chick over there," she nodded towards the redhead, "We need some contingency plans. Something tells me NOVA isn't gonna have just one line of defense."  With that, she sat back again, hand moving almost subconsciously back to the earring, twisting it back and forth.
HAWKEYE: Kate had technically led people before. She didn’t love it. It hadn’t even actually been on purpose. Regardless, it had happened (somehow) and given her a newfound appreciation for what it was like to be at the head of the metaphorical (or in this case very big and literal) table. She could just sit there and take direction, but...
“I don’t mean to pop the power bubble or anything, but I’m pretty sure that we shouldn’t be relying on anybody’s extra abilities to get or find or detect anything. It’s you guys,” she made a vague gesture at a random assortment of her fellow League-ers who were more than just baseline human, “that they’re trying to get rid of. This is just a shot in the dark,” except it wasn’t really, “but I’m guessing that means it’s probably also you guys that they’re prepared for. If they’ve got a super secret lair under the ocean, we should probably count on getting in the old fashioned way. Isn’t that like, somebody’s job? Your job, probably?” The final remark was directed toward Tony Stark at the front, though it probably didn’t rest squarely on his shoulders.
SCARLET WITCH: Wanda sat listening for the most part. She wasn't passive, per se, but she certainly wasn't going to interrupt. However, she didn't particularly appreciate the insinuation that she and the others in this room--mutant, meta, or enhanced--were not capable of infiltrating without their abilities. "If I'm not mistaken, mutants are not useless even with the inhibitors. All of the Avengers have been trained to fight by Captain America. As I understand it, so have the X-Men by Cyclops. While it is wise not to rely solely on our powers, we don't know what NOVA will do. Regardless, I'm sure it will be taken into account that powers may be lost." It made her uncomfortable to be seated in the same room as the X-Men discussing the loss of powers, but it was what it was. She was who she was. "As it is, however, we shouldn't do nothing with them on the chance NOVA will see fit to remove them again. We should use what we have while we have it."
She didn't even entertain the notion of grouping with Magneto and frankly couldn't help the look she shot Lorna in spite of herself. Fortunately, Anna spoke before that and she kept her tongue. Whether their reasons were the same was hardly the point. What did matter was that they surely didn't think her father was the right fulcrum for these plans. Rather than commenting, however, she instead turned her attention to the newcomer. She was old world, much like Steve and Bucky, but what she said did make sense. "A failsafe, as it were," she agreed, nodding to Gladys. "It makes sense. If it can be pulled off quickly enough." She glanced to Tony on reflex. He was, after all, the tech genius she was most familiar with. As Tommy spoke, Wanda could sense his discomfort with the scientists. She felt her jaw tense. Of course her child was uneasy. Without a thought, one long-fingered hand reached out to catch her son's, giving it a reassuring squeeze. She wanted to provide a quiet strength for him, and a grounding one. After all, he was always poised to bounce off the walls. And when he was uncomfortable, she knew it would be worse. He'd want to run off the extra energy.
MARVEL GIRL: Prior to the initial start of the meeting, Jean had caught sight of some faces, familiar and unfamiliar. There was hardly any time for any mingling, as it was serious business. But still, she made the effort to ensure her son was sitting right next to her. She had reached over and patted the top of his hand, leaning down to kiss his cheek before taking her seat.
There had been quite the amount of opinions, both formidable and perhaps, a bit disconcerting. She exhaled quietly right after Wanda had finished speaking and she stood from her chair to address the crowd.
“I for one, agree with Wanda,” she said, gesturing her sentiments towards the woman, “Though I myself have been out of commission for quite some time, I wouldn’t dismiss the idea that us mutants can’t continue to fight back even with the Inhibitors in play.”
She turned her gaze briefly towards Scott. She had worked with him for many years as well as most of the X-Men in the room. Though he was not perfect, he was someone she admired and to know that he was putting in his efforts on behalf of the X-Men was worth praising. “Scott is a formidable leader. He is very capable of consolidating our strategies as well as an excellent negotiator. If need be, I would like to echo his sentiments on dispersing us to work in tandem with the rest of the League.
The young lady with the underwater devices does have a point about observing the currents of the water, provided it is confirmed they do have an underwater facility. It would be far too dangerous to go in there unless we know what exactly is in there. If it’s deep enough, they could be using the darkness of the water as a disguise to hide various traps and mines. Not to mention water currents can be as aggressive underneath than just on the surface. If that’s the case, perhaps if there is someone willing to scan the area by sonars, we needn’t worry about losing any additional numbers in our rankings. As for the various ground teams, I would take advantage of those who are able to easily detect things by smell, such as my colleague, Logan and his daughters, who have an enhanced sense of smell. Surely, even if certain chemicals didn’t have a particular smell on the surface, I’m sure it could still be detected. If not, if there are any samples of such Inhibitors obtained, I’d recommend anyone with a strong knowledge of chemistry observe the ingredients to see if they react to certain elements such as fire or magic.”
Her gaze flickered in Logan’s direction, pursing her lips. “But of course, that is all pre-planning as I wouldn’t want anyone to be put at risk in those stages alone. I think it’s important to find out exactly what we’re dealing with other than the threat of a potential underwater facility. NOVA surely has information on some of us and may be more than prepared and if we don’t have the contingency plan, things will surely turn sour.”
WOLVERINE: This wasn't the first time Logan had worked with the Avengers and he'd been much less reticent than the others to attend the meeting, despite not always being the most reliable team player. The so-called Justice League he didn't know much of anything about. He wasn't exactly eager to end up on a team with a bunch of strangers, but it wasn't his call to make. There were a lot of things he could say about Scott, was perfectly willing to say about Scott, even, but he was here because he believed in his leadership. That was the whole point.
Everyone was just talking so damn much.
Seated between Natasha and Gabby made it a little harder to show that annoyance. He'd met Gabby recently, it took adjusting to, but he was already letting himself get involved in her training. He didn't doubt she was fully capable of holding a position on the team, but he hadn't seen her in action, not like he'd seen Laura or Daken, and she was different. Even Laura he didn't completely want on the X-Force.
He watched Jean as she spoke, giving a slight nod, and realized suddenly it was time for him to say something. Instead he made a nondescript hand motion. "I like the cookies. Next."
BUCKY BARNES: “The odds of figuring out exactly what’s in there ahead of time are probably zilch,” Bucky pointed out. He wouldn’t be heading to that facility, regardless, as the recon team had been working for months to be ready to take down the remaining detention centers. They were as ready as they were going to be for that, though. It wasn’t the thing that needed discussing. “Nothing is ever that easy. But given what we know about NOVA, whatever they’ve got isn’t something any of us want them to keep having.” He shifted in his seat and lifted his left hand as he looked to the three up front. ”However you get in, just make sure you’re ready not to leave anything behind. That’s what you need to do the old fashioned way.” Besides, an underwater explosion, by nature, was more easily contained.
LOKI: Loki nodded at Bucky’s assessment. He didn’t particularly understand the issue with mutants versus non, and he wasn’t at all uncomfortable to be sitting in a room with both. He considered for a moment. He had been trying to find out more about the inhibitors, but it was a slow process. June headed that up and he could get too deep in her science because of how territorial she was. Still... if they had some time, perhaps Loki could get Jihl to talk to him about it. He had had dinner in her office a few times and he could tell she was warming to him even more. He could get information about the facility maybe, if not the actual inhibitors.
“I should hope that the Media isn’t corrupt any longer,” he remarked. Though he would have been able to tell if Lois was a liar. “As for what goes on with NOVA, many of us are aware. Is that not why we’re here?”
He looked over to Batman and Captain America. “Your inside man,” he pointed out, knowing it was prudent to keep his name out of people’s heads specifically but aware that they had discussed the concept itself in the past. “Could he or she not try to tease out some information on this facility?”
SIGNAL: This was the first chance he'd had to really see everyone together. The past couple weeks had just been weird. Duke didn't really know how to process everything yet. He gave a short clap at the end of Gladys' presentation, grinning at her, and leaned over to whisper, "good job." Even though he hadn't seen the finished product until now, he still knew how long and hard she'd worked on it. She was clearly proving to be a good asset to the team. He was glad Bruce had trusted him enough to give her that chance, even though that undoubtedly meant he had a file on her now. That had been the only reason he'd hesitated in getting her involved.
"I don't think anyone in here would be useless without their powers," he offered mildly. With Bruce's rigorous training, he knew he would be able to keep up with the others. His abilities were completely separate from that. Judging from how competent Steve and Scott had proved to be as leaders, he had no reason to think they wouldn't have trained their teams similarly, or at least prepared them for that possibility in light of recent events. "I think the point she was trying to make was that plans shouldn't have us rely on enhancements if there is a chance of them being taken away."
CABLE: War never changes.
Nathan learned that lesson a long time ago. He rose up against Lord Apocalypse once, a vicious dictator from two thousand years into the future. He doesn’t know how to feel about the likelihood of him trying to rise up into power again but that isn’t what this meeting is about. The point of these thoughts is that Nathan has led armies before —and worked alongside others to strategize the best plan of action to take.
He might not be a leader anymore but maybe some mannerisms never really leave you. His messiah complex still deeply embedded into his actions. However, Nathan just wants to try helping out not just his fellow Mutants but anyone they needs his help. He has always fought for everyone and it was important to come together now.
He felt honored to be part of the meeting but maybe being part of the X-Men and X-Force meant playing his part by offering his expertise. It makes Nathan happy to have guaranteed a chair next to his mother — sitting up straight while everyone is talking their piece. He was even taking notes and scribbling in his own ideas between the lines. His attention focused on every gesture and expression while everyone spoke. It finally comes down to his turn so Nathan does what he happens to do best — public speaking.
His chair is pushed back silently, only a slight squeak before Cable is on his feet. Everyone else might have spoken while sitting down but that’s never how he addressed his associates in an environment like this. One hand made of flesh and bone pressed against the table while the cybernetic one is on his hip.
“If any of our efforts are going to work we have to unite as one. Some of us have never worked with each other but we’re here to change that. We don’t have much time but what we can’t afford to do is rush in without a plan.“ His left eye glowing yellow while speaking as wisps of energy flow out of it. “While I’m always in favor of using our abilities to our advantage, I agree with the others that we have to put into consideration that NOVA will develop creative ways to prevent us from using them. We can’t rely on just that if we’re going to succeed but you’re all brilliant so I trust that you know this already.” He’s not always this serious but Nathan takes meetings like this seriously and always will. “If there’s a chance that we can make this world a better one for all of us then who would turn it down? We’re taking these facilities down either with our enhancements or without them.” Nathan could do both — he’s an expert marksman after all and also pretty good with a sword too.
Deep breath. “Nobody is useless without their powers but maybe that’s not what they’d expect out of us. I look forward to investigating as part of X-Force. We should keep in mind that communication and cooperation will be a must going forward. This is about freeing those people and reuniting children with their parents. I take it very personally when families are ripped apart, maybe more than most but this isn’t about my personal feelings right now when there’s so much at risk. We know what NOVA is capable of but we can’t eliminate the potential for the unexpected. It won’t be easy but taking down any threat is always going to have it’s challenges. If we work together I know that we can come out on top in the end. This won’t be without bumps and bruises along the way but I have faith in us.” He takes a moment to look around the room.
“That’s all I got unless anyone wants to hear my potential tactics after we’re done here.” Nathan slowly sits down in his chair and his eye stops glowing finally. His gaze looks at who was next with a nod of his head as if to signal that it was their turn.
STINGER: Though Cassie took in every word that people said, she was otherwise slightly occupied. She was suddenly keenly aware of Tommy's presence, wanted to go something when he spoke, but the helmet and Stinger costume meant he didn't know who she was. Well, what she was about to say was going to be a dead giveaway in combination with the (very clear, very purposeful) Wasp designs in her costume. Still, she'd keep her cool in this moment, and find him the moment they finished. "Those of us with tech or no powers may be able to get inside, but it's still risky. As long as I have the suit, the pym particles will keep working for me, and I should be able to get small enough to avoid security sensors." no doubt, since the bank, Cassie hadn't gone anywhere without her suit stored somewhere on her person, terrified of being caught powerless again. Still, the suggestion was gentle as she even began to find flaws in it after a moment. Her helmet turns to the head of the table instead, trying not to stare at Tommy.
BEAST BOY: Gar sat quietly, looking from person to person as they spoke. He wasn't even sure he should be here, really. He hadn't taken on any real hero role (animal rescues didn't count) since he left the Titans, so to be at the table with everyone here was... wild. Still, he can't dent the way his heart tugs towards the people lamenting what NOVA could really do. He knew he'd be among the first to be picked out himself, but too much violence in response wasn't the answer. They needed a plan, and he's go with it, but for now he sat quietly, awaiting to see what those he was used to following would say.
FLASH: Contrary to his normal demeanour, Wally had elected to keep his mouth shut unless absolutely necessary. Seeing all the unfamiliar faces sat around the table had made him painfully aware of how long he'd been out of the game, and how much their world had changed since he'd taken his sabbatical from hero work. The experience was giving him flashbacks to when he was first introduced to the Teen Titans: young and naive, suddenly seeing a whole new world that he was suddenly a part of. AS the presentation started he reached down and gave M'ann's hand a squeeze, glad that she'd saved him a seat. The comfort didn't manage to stop the nervous machine-gun tempo of his heart as the reality of the situation seeped in. He was here, in costume, with Barry, and Megs, and Bats. Swap out M'gann for Dick and it was almost like the old days. Including a really ostentatious, expensive and largely impractical secret facility for the bad guys.
He leaned forward on the table, resting his chin on steepled fingers in thought. "Barry's right, our powers really don't gel with water all that well. We're still pretty fast, but the heat build up we generate evaporates all the water around us. So not exactly subtle. Get us close enough however..." He shrugged, knowing full well how difficult that would be. But who knows, maybe there was someone here whose powers could get them to a wall of a facility that was god knows how deep beneath the ocean. "There's not a lot of things that we can't phase through, and we probably have enough brain cells between us to unlock the doors." He became aware that he was breaking his no-talking rule by a significant amount. "You know, if possible. Not saying we have to, just thinking out loud."
BATMAN: Everyone deserved a chance to speak. For that reason Bruce was silent, his gaze shifting to each person as they said their piece, and he didn't once move to interject. The suggestions for contingencies were acknowledged with a slight nod. He never did anything without thorough planning. That included back-up plans and back-up plans for those back-up plans. Even if he hadn't been a vigilante for as long as others at this table, he knew nothing ever went according to plan.
Once it came back around to him, he was quick to make one thing clear, even though he'd stated it in no uncertain terms at the very start of the meeting: "A plan is already in place." This was a league and he knew that meant collaboration, but responsibility fell on the leaders' shoulders when it was all said and done. "What Iceman has said is correct. We do not have weeks. There is no time to test and redesign shields that could effectively protect against the inhibitors. We do not even know if it can be done. As Bruce Banner said, this radiation is nothing like what we've seen before." Although others had suggested using their powers to find the inhibitors, it was Lorna he addressed. He knew she'd attacked the NOVA facility from a distance with Erik, but that was before the inhibitors had been upgraded. At that point they had only affected mutants. "You will not be able to use your powers. Even when the inhibitors are shut off, they give off enough radioactive energy to effectively cloak themselves to metahuman, mutant, or alien abilities. We will not be able to rely on enhancements, which is why I would encourage everyone to brush up on their training. That is why," he directed his next statement to Gladys, "your deflector technology will be helpful. Red Robin, Oracle, and Spider-Man will be on the comms. They make up the first team. There will be three more. We've split them based on your individual abilities and where you're best suited to help. The first team is charged with detecting and infiltrating the underwater facility. Superman, Iron Man, Dr. Banner, Blue Beetle, Moxie, Cyborg, Tempest, Flash." He looked at Wally to indicate which Flash. "Wiccan, Scarlet Witch, Nightstar, Wolverine, Gambit, Polaris, Cable, and Raptor. Red Robin will be on your team's comms and help direct you, along with Moxie's technology. The second team will be large. There are multiple facilities involved. From my understanding, Cyclops will further split you up. This group will include Supergirl, Speed, Human Torch, Iceman, Nightcrawler, Zatara, Flash." Barry this time. "Black Widow, Rogue, Stinger, Black Bat, Captain America, Sergeant Barnes, Cyclops, Ms. Frost, Huntress, Marvel Girl, and Honey Badger. Oracle will be with you on the comms." He sighed. "As you know, we are unable to leave the city vulnerable. The final team will remain here - prepared, willing, and able to respond to any location at any given time. I will be on that team, along with Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Batwoman, Loki, Batgirl, Signal, Black Canary, Hawkeye, and Beast Boy. Spider-Man will be assisting us on the comms. The city will need us to be visible in the case that something goes wrong."
CYCLOPS: “It’s not lost on us how much is at stake here,” Scott began, looking toward Bobby, Nathan, and the others who had accompanied him there. It was the kind of fight that they’d been intimate with for most of their lives, a ceaseless monster of a thing that grew a new head every time one was removed, but it was a fight they could never give up on. By extension, it was one he never stopped planning for. A major reason he’d allied them with the League was the expectation that they could not lean too heavily on the abilities that came naturally for them, and that no amount of training could entirely prepare for that. They needed other resources, technology, and just sheer numbers - all things that the League and its members could provide. “We have to go into this with the intention and plan to use everything available to us. When it comes to NOVA, consider any powers you have to be a liability, not an advantage, and in any situation where we might rely on them we’ll have a second option.” And given the way both Scott and Bruce thought, probably a third and fourth one, too.” “X-Force will be going with the first team to the underwater facility. All of you are in this room with the exception of Kid Omega, and the assignment will be relayed to him as necessary.” There were enough dissenting voices and disruptions without including Quentin when it wasn’t required. “For the facilities outside the city, we have every reason to believe they’re structured similarly to the one taken down a few months ago. That mission didn’t end as we expected,” thanks to Erik and Lorna, which he didn’t point out, “but it let us know what to expect inside. Three six person teams will infiltrate these bases, liberate the people that NOVA is holding captive within them, and render the buildings unusable. We are not there to take the lives of the agents. This is a non-lethal mission, and anyone unwilling to abide by that rule...” he lifted a hand toward the door, “remove yourself. We can’t allow anyone to jeopardize this operation, the lives of your teammates, or the freedom of NOVA’s prisoners because you’d rather exact justice a different way. Is this clear?” He continued on, willing to address opposing opinions once they’d covered the basics of what he meant to occur. “You’ll be given your team assignments once this meeting has adjourned, and in the short window of time between this and when we take action, we’ll spend most of it training. Many of you in this room don’t know one another and trust doesn’t always come easily, but we’re all going to have to find it. We have a way into these facilities that we expect to work, a way to skirt around the inhibitors and get one person inside each of them to shut the system down and give the other team members a window. This has to happen simultaneously, or close to it, at all three locations. We don’t want NOVA to have time to compensate or react, if we can help it, and to do that we have to give them as little warning as possible. Execution in the beginning has to be as flawless as we can make it.” And for the X-Men in the room, they’d know Scott’s standards for that were particularly high. “That means working together and doing your part, but believing in the rest of us to do ours, too. I know this may seem like a situation where there’s too many cooks in the kitchen, but if we move in tandem and follow the plans that are being laid out, we can win here. We all know what’s at stake if we don’t.”
“That said...with most of the X-Men out of District X, the people on the other side of the wall are counting heavily on the League members remaining in the city to keep NOVA in check. We have our own defenses in place, but it’s a responsibility I normally take on myself. I’m taking...an enormous leap of faith.”
He nodded toward Steve, then. “Captain America, Emma, and I will be heading out to these detention centers with you and training with you to do it. We plan to be there every step of the way. X-Force, you’ve been told who you’ll have on your side, and you’ll hear more from Iron Man how you’ll be getting into the facility. Your mission is less predictable. I have faith in you all to complete it.“
CAPTAIN AMERICA: A while back, I said that some of you could train with Wanda and Dick on how to figure things out without the use of your powers. My team has been specifically trained in hand to hand as well as with their powers and it's been invaluable in times like these." They didn't have time anymore to recommend training. He could only hope people had taken Dick and Wanda up on the offer that had been made at the first meeting. He wasn't sure how Scott trained his people, but he didn't ask right now. They had already placed emphasis on being sure to be ready to use them as a last resort.
He waited to see if anyone left on the non-lethal stipulation, hoping they didn't lose anyone. He was glad when his team and the X-Men proved them all right by not leaving before he continued on. "Avengers, we've done things like this before. You know how goes. Tony's got briefings on the detention facilities, like Scott said. With any luck and a lot of strategy, we'll be able to get in, do what we need to do, and get out without much fuss and this'll be a huge hit against NOVA. We can manage this kind of thing without bloodshed. I know we're capable of that."
He glanced to some of the people around the table before adding, "If you see anything while you're on this mission that could be useful in the future, I absolutely suggest you take note of it. Maps, plans, et cetera. That's not the main focus of the mission, but you'd be amazed what kinds of things you can run across." That had been how he had managed so many years ago to help take down HYDRA. Just one glance at a map when he was on a rescue mission for Bucky. It had been invaluable.
IRON MAN: It had taken an enormous amount of effort to sit there and wait until everyone finished talking. Tony had to force himself not to interrupt at least half a dozen times, particularly to explain the pointlessness of using abilities to locate devices that canceled out abilities, but even he recognized that not everyone in the room was up to date on the technology. It had undergone a massive enhancement once it was upgraded to include mutants. He managed to relax when that was explained, at least as much as he could relax with frayed patience. "The silver lining is that there's a lot of gray area between alive and dead, for those of you not morally reticent."
Nodding, he stole a quick glance around the table at those named to be in their group. A click of a button displayed a 3-D map of a NOVA facility that had been provided to him prior to the meeting. "All of their above ground facilities are laid out the exact same way. Guess NOVA doesn't budget for style. As Cyclops pointed out, my team, the one that's going underwater: we're at a disadvantage. I have a plan, but it'll be touch and go. We don't know that the layout will match this. We have to rely on constant and consistent communication with each other and, more importantly, Robin. Right? ...No. You're one of them though, I know that - wait, don't tell me." He snapped his fingers. "Red Robin. We'll go over the details later." Unlike the other team, they weren't fortunate enough to have actual 3D blueprints. Most of their information would be reliant on Gladys and Tim and what they would pull from their respective technologies. For Steve's sake, he was attempting to trust that everyone knew what they were doing - but seeing firsthand how the bat cult offered some comfort.
CYCLOPS: “You have your assignments,” Scott interjected after Tony. “Those of you heading to the detention centers, convene with me and I’ll split our teams. Use what little time we have wisely, find a way to trust the people you’re going in with. Whatever differences we’ve had, leave them at the door for now. We’ve got too many people counting on us.”
He glanced toward Steve and Bruce to see if they had any parting words, and for his part ended on a simple, “Good luck to all of us.”
CAPTAIN AMERICA: Steve nodded as Scott spoke, pleased by how well this had gone. "Remember that it takes teamwork for an undertaking like this one, but it's what we've been working towards for months now. This is the first step in finally getting these guys outta here. Familiarize yourselves with one another as much as you can. Trust that we'll have each other's backs." He shook his head. "The last thing we want is for a man to get left behind if we can help it, and we want to get the people suffering out of harm's way. But this is what we do best."
With a little playful grin, he added, "I'd say 'Avengers assemble', but we're so much bigger than that this time around. Just like this is so much bigger than any one team." He looked around at every face around the table before speaking up. "Heroes," he said in that authoritative tone, because that's what they were. First and foremost, beyond teams, beyond friendships, and their grievances of the past between one another. They were sworn to protect, to save those who could not save themselves. And perhaps there wasn't need for pomp and circumstance for them. So he spoke to them like a man speaking to his equals, fist curling in front of him to assert the point. "Let's get it done."

A rose in London - Sherlock Holmes
Tumblr media
Chapter 16 - “Black magic”
As Sherlock had said, the tunnel was right there. You all climbed out of the boat, John taking lead, you following Irene and Sherlock behind you. The gate was open, so access was easy. You were glad Irene suggested changing into trousers again. There would be a lot more hassle doing this in a skirt.
Right about now both parties will be filling the room and greeting one another. None of them any the wiser as to what was going to happen.
You followed Sherlock down the dark halls. He seemed to know where to go, so you trusted his instinct.
There was voices. You all pressed up against the nearest wall.
"Behold, Blackwood's magic revealed." Sherlock whispered.
"What does it do?" You asked quietly, peeking at the machinery.
"It's a chemical weapon. The first of it's kind." Sherlock explained.
"You deduced that how?" Irene asked. Everyone looked at him.
"From my pocket." He held up a rat tail. "I snipped this off a rather recumbent rat at the slaughterhouse. Note the blue discoloration, the faint smell of bitter almonds. Telltale traces of cyanide."
"Shh." John whispered. You all ducked behind the wall again as someone walked by on the other side.
Sherlock pulled out his pocket telescope and looked at it's mechanics a little closer through it. "Now we know what the ginger midget was working on. It'll revolutionise warfare."
"Yes, killing a lot of people." John added in. "Now, it's seven minutes to noon. What are we gonna do?"
"Right. How many men did you  count on the-" Sherlock whispered, getting cut off by gunshots.
Irene had slipped around the other side of the wall and pulled out her gun. You didn't even see her leave your side.
"She loves and entrance, your muse." John muttered.
"For the record, I have a new muse." Sherlock stated, grabbing your hand and pulling you along as he moved you from that spot. John followed behind you. Sherlock took you with him one way, John splitting off to take cover on the opposite side, both men took out their guns and began to shoot back.
"What should I do?" You asked, wanting to do something useful.
"For now, keep your head down." Sherlock glanced at you. "I must keep you safe."
One of the men in the sewer got close and knocked the gun from Sherlock's hand. The detective had to use his fists now. John and Irene were putting up a good fight on their ends. You hurried around your hiding spot, going back the way you came and hurried over to Irene who was no longer fighting, but looking at the machine. You picked up Sherlock's gun as you passed it.
"Woman! Shoot him. Now, please." Sherlock yelled at Irene.
Irene rolled her eyes and turned her gaze to you. "Be my guest." She smiled at you.
You held up the gun, having never done so before, and aimed at the other man. Sherlock and the man, while fighting, swapped placed and you grew nervous about pulling the trigger. You knew you wanted to help, but using a gun for the first time, here of all places, was not what you meant at all.
You felt a hand on yours as Irene stood behind you and helped you aim.
"Shoot."
You pulled the trigger, shooting the man in the arm, giving Sherlock the advantage. He was able to beat the man and come over. He looked at you rather impressed. You tucked the gun in the waistband of your trousers.
"Nicely done, dear."
You smiled back.
"I had help."
John continued to fight off men as Irene examined the machine. Sherlock knelt down beside her, you kept your wits about you in case John needed assistance.
"I've never seen anything like it. Look at this." Irene held up a coin and held it against the mechanics in full motion. The coin shot out of her, flying across the room at a high speed, making home in a pipe.
"Specifically designed to prevent us from disarming it." Sherlock noted. "These appear to be designed to receive a signal of some sort." He pointed to a cylinder with an aerial of some kind atop it.
"Electromagnetic waves?" Irene suggested.
"When triggered, the electrodes will send a charge converting the chemical into gas. The gas will travel up that shaft and filter through the ventilation system that leads directly to Parliament. Within seconds the most powerful men in the world will be chocking on death. Blackwood must have some transmitter that he can activate remotely. Three minutes, ten seconds." Sherlock checked his pocket watch.
You hoped something could be done within that time.
"We don't actually have to disarm the device... we just have to remove the cylinders." Irene stood up.
"Yes, except that they're welded in." Sherlock pointed out. "What we need id a controlled explosion. We'll need a container to direct the blast. My clay pipe should service that ambition."
A man came flying through the room, causing the three of you to turn around. You felt your jaw drop when the big guy walked in with an axe. The same giant who fought Sherlock in the midget's home.
"Uh oh."
He spotted you three.
Irene held up her gun and shot at him, missing his face twice. Her gun clicked. It was empty.
"I rather wish you hadn't done that, Irene." Sherlock lowered her arm.
The chiming began. Twelve o'clock. It was time.
The machine began to come to life behind you and you looked to Sherlock for answers. When the twelfth chime was done, there would be a lot of dead people upstairs.
"I need your pipe." Irene said, watching as the man put the axe down.
Sherlock looked from you, to him, to Irene, as he handed his pipe over.
Just as the man was removing his coat, John popped up behind him and grabbed his arms.
"Nut him!" John yelled.
Sherlock ran at the man and headbutted him harm. The hit made Sherlock's head go a little fuzzy. He tried to fight back, but fell over, unable to focus.
Irene got to work on the machine.
The boys were taking quite a beating. You ran over to help, trying to get the axe, but the man swung his arm and caused you to topple over. You rolled away just as he brought his foot down, but it landed on Sherlock's arm who was still on the floor. He managed to pull it out from under his foot and got to his feet. John went for the axe, but the man was stronger. He swung John around who landed against Sherlock. Sherlock held John in front of him, you were on the opposite side.
"Right." John said.
"What?" Sherlock asked.
"Coat." John replied.
"Got it."
Both men moved to each side. They used the man's coat to blind him and both took a hit to him. The man pulled the coat away from his face and swung the axe at John, but he missed. He swung for Sherlock, making him fall to the ground. Sherlock rolled out of the way as the axe came down. John jumped the man, but it was doing nothing. The tall man was able to push the doctor away easily.
You grabbed the coat and came up behind the man, covering his face with it and pulling it tight. John got back up to his feet and hurried back over to help you, taking the coat from your hands. He was basically riding the man as the man stood upright. John kept his focus on keeping the coat around his face.
You hurried over to Sherlock and helped him to his feet. Sherlock grabbed the axe, silently asking you to move to the side, and took a swing, but the man had managed to pull the coat away from his face and grab the axe before it hit anything important. Sherlock gave him a kick to his manhood, making the man fall over, bringing Sherlock down with him, thanks to the axe. John still had the coat around his neck as he hit the ground too.
Irene was working as fast as she could over by the machine.
The chiming ended.
Irene pulled out the cylinders and ran off.
"Woman!" Sherlock yelled, watching her leave.
"What are you waiting for?" John yelled at him.
Sherlock grabbed the axe and pulled harshly. A popping sound came from the man's wrist as he groaned in pain.
"That." Sherlock said. "Can you manage?"
"Course I can."
Sherlock got up off the floor and looked at you. "Stay with John."
"What about you?"
"I'll be fine." He told you and ran off. You watched him go and then turned to John. He was strangling the man. You couldn't really do much other than let him get on with it.
"Relax... I'm a doctor." John hissed into his ear.
The man fell unconscious on top of John. John relaxed when he realised he was out. You knelt down and used all your strength to push the heavy man off Watson.
"Thanks."
"Don't mention it."
You helped John to his feet.
"We need to get after them." John looked at you. "Are you alright?"
"I'm worried about Sherlock."
"Come on." John offered you his hand and you both ran out of the tunnel.

Cybernetics- Cyberpunk!Sonic AU- Chapter 7
Amy Rose has been working tirelessly at her broken down booth for as long as she can imagine. Ever since Tails left their work to join forces with the revered hero of Mobius, ‘The Blue Blur’, she’s grown lonely and desperate to make her life exciting. A strange customer comes in one day asking her to fix his cyborg arm, what she didn’t know was that he would be the catalyst for a brand new life.

After resting a while longer, Amy pushed herself up to her feet, wobbling at first as her body screamed at her to sit down again. However, she soon grew accustomed to the ache and slowly made her way over to the hole Shadow stood at, stepping gingerly as to not cause any more discomfort. He didn’t spare her a glance and instead just moved over so she could have more room. She stopped just before the edge and looked out upon the city in ruins. Buildings were either fully demolished or damaged like this one, or they were crumbling on their own. Plants and other animal life had taken over the city once more, pavement was cracked to make room for trees and weeds and grass, and vines grew up the sides of buildings and all over the large chunks of the cement buildings that lay on the ground. She was far off the ground, but she could see a small stream that ran down a sidewalk, coming from somewhere out of her sight. She’d never seen anything like this. Quite frankly, she’d always just assumed the city of Mobius went on forever, that their planet wasn’t that big to begin with, that’s what she had always been told, anyways. But this was stunning, greenery and life contrasted there dull colors and dirt and stone she was used to in the outer ring, and even though what she had seen of the middle ring was beautiful with its neon lights and steely grays, nothing compared to the lush green of the plants and the quiet chirping of wild animals.
“What is this place?” She asked. He finally looked over to her, confused.
“You don’t know?”
“No..” she shook her head with a frown, still mesmerized by the beauty of it all.
“It was part of the outer ring... it got destroyed in the war with Earth. Mobius is reclaiming it.” He said simply.
“No one ever talked about anything being destroyed...” she admitted, “I guess I should’ve known that the war took a toll on our homes but... I never could’ve imagined a whole city. This goes on for miles.”
“Thousands died here, inner ring city military and androids guard the border between the outer ring and these ruins. The people who live so close to the border are already extremely poor, even though there could be resources here for them they aren’t allowed to come near.” Shadow clicked his tongue angrily.
“Why do they guard it? Wouldn’t it be better for them if they let people camp out here and rebuild?”
“No, it’s all about control for them. This is too far for them to reach, they don’t want to have to expend valuable resources to keeping an even bigger outer ring under control. They hardly like doing it with the outer ring as it is, that’s why they let the Robotnik bots stay.”
“There’s never Robotnik bots in the inner ring...” she breathed out quietly to herself. She’d never thought of it like that before. That the government just let the bots stay where they needed them. They were rarely ever in the middle ring either, but there were a few.
“I would bargain to say that the war is what left the government corrupt. The people were so desperate to have officials who could make bold strokes that they didn’t realize the people in charge cared more about themselves.” He spat.
“You really don’t like the government.” She observed.
“It’s hard to even tolerate trash like that.” He said matter of factly before walking away.
Amy stayed put, continuing to take in the sights. She’d never realized that the government had such a strong grip over the rings, but she supposed that’s why talented folks like Whisper would never move any farther inward even if she was paid handsomely. The system was built against her, and anyone like her, that wasn’t born into the inner ring and by extension into wealth. Amy bit the inside of her cheek, she felt as if she’d learned more now than she ever had in her twenty two years of living. Another thing to add to the list of ‘things the government keeps from people in the outer ring’ she supposed. Though she had just started the list, it already seemed to be getting a bit long. She heard some swishing behind her before Shadow spoke again.
“Are you ready to go?” He asked.
She turned and saw the last moments of him clipping his cloak around his neck and allowing it to drape down to cover his body once more. Unlike how she’d previously seen him though, he kept his hood down, she hadn’t noticed she’d been studying him until he turned swiftly on his heel and picked up her collapsible hammer, gearing up to toss it to her.
“We’ll have to get you some sort of cloak too, but we’ll stay out of popular areas for now.” He tosses the hammer in its bag form to her.
She caught it by the strap and steadied it, popping it open to see just a wrench and a flat head that she had stored in it earlier before the big ‘almost arrested’ moment.
“We can get you more tools too.” He promised as she hung the bag across her chest.
“Where are we going?” She asked.
“My home base. You can meet the rest of the team.”
“There’s more than just you?” She replied, albeit a bit dumbly.
“Yes- one other and... your first project.” He nodded before turning once more and walking towards the door.
“Wait! Wouldn’t it just be easier to do that... teleport-y thingy like you did before...?” She questioned, taking a few steps forward before stopping as he looked over his shoulder.
“I think it did you more harm than good, I’ve only ever done it with inanimate objects and androids before, you’re the first flesh and bones that’s been through that ordeal.” He explained. “It’ll be useful if we ever get in a tough spot, but for now I want to give you a chance to heal.” Shadow shrugged and stepped out the door, turning left with his cape swooshing behind him.
Amy ‘hmm’ed quietly in agreement as she rushed out after him, her legs weren’t happy to be moving this fast, but she couldn’t afford to slow them down. She didn’t know where they were going, but she could bargain it would be easier to get there while it was still light out, and the sun would be going down soon. She could hear Shadow’s metal shoes clunking down the stairs and she quickly followed, just barely seeing him round the corner as he continued down more stairs. This went on for a few more flights, but soon they made it to the bottom and she halted abruptly as to not bump into him as he looked cautiously out the space where she assumed there was once a fire exit leading to the outside.
“They don’t send patrols this deep into the ruins that often, but you can never be too careful.” He explained quietly as he scanned the surroundings slowly.
She imagined his eye was looking for electromagnetic signals or heat signatures among the plants and building, but she didn’t dare break the silence that allowed her to hear the very soft whirring of the camera occasionally zooming in or out. It was quiet, barely noticeable, but it was oh so interesting to her. She’d never seen a cyborg eye before, and she imagined you’d have to have good neurological knowledge as well as mechanical to be able to make one.
“Clear.” He spoke a little louder as he stepped out of the building and into the green waste land, Amy was quick to follow.
She looked up at the buildings and trees in awe, if possible, it was even more amazing from down here. She could now get a close up view of all the flora and fauna that she couldn’t have before.
Shadows feet crunched along the over grown path he was taking, and she stopped her ogling at the area to catch up. Little bugs flitted in front of her face and she swatted them away, if there was one thing here that they had back in the outer ring, it was flies.
“So are we moving towards or away from the city?” She asked quietly as she quickened her stride to walk next to him.
“Away. I found an area that no patrols frequented years ago, it’s been being built up by me and my... teammate since then. It’s nicer than the rubble we were just in now, but it started off pretty bad.”
“Cool.” She said in a hushed breath, well aware that she wouldn’t know if a patrol was coming near them.
“We have a ways to go, but we’ll be there before the sun in completely down.” He reassured before picking up the pace.
Amy nodded silently as she trekked along behind him, her aching muscles not allowing her to go any faster. She hoped they would get there soon, though the shock of her life taking a complete one eighty hadn’t completely set in yet, she felt ready to tackle the new obstacles that had been put in front of her. For a moment, she thought of Tails, and wished she could apologize for officially becoming his enemy.

Through time and space 14
You scroll through your messages, it turns out your family went back to Bobby’s and that Dean finished up fixing the Impala. You smile when you see the picture Katie sent, the picture is of Dean leaning against the hood of the car smiling like an idiot. You dial Katie’s number and press call.
“Hey (Nickname).” Katie says answering the phone.
“Hi, so Dean actually got on a plane?” You say in response walking away from the control room.
“Yeah, about a day after you left with the Doctor. Thanks for that by the way.”
“How long did it take you to notice I was gone?”
“Not that long.” You then notice that you’re farther than you wanted to be… you somehow ended up by the swimming pool.
“Well shit.” You say, confusing Katie.
“What?” She asks.
“I went the wrong way… instead of going to my room, I ended up at the swimming pool with no idea how to get back to the control room.” Katie snickers. “Not funny Katie.”
“It kind of is.” You groan, before losing your footing for a moment. You tell your sister you’ll call her back later. You manage to find the control room again.
“What just happened?” You ask.
“She’s dead. The TARDIS is dead.” The Doctor mournfully says. You notice that Rose is gone, and you notice the green light coming from underneath the control.
“I don’t think the TARDIS is all dead just mostly dead.” You say you smile a little bit when you realize you made a Princess Bride reference. “I say that because of that blinking green light.”
“Green light?” The Doctor asks. He follows where you’re looking and starts rummaging around. “That’s all we need. We’ve got power! Y/N, Mickey, we’ve got power! Ha!” The Doctor looks like a kid at Christmas. The madman that owns the magic blue box says it lives, confusing Mickey.
“What?” Mickey asks.
“The TARDIS isn’t a machine Mickey, it’s alive.” You explain.
“It’s tiny. One of those insignificant little power cells that no one ever bothers about, and it’s clinging to life, with one little ounce of reality tucked away inside.” The Doctor says.
“Enough to get us home?” Mickey asks.
“Not yet. I need to charge it up.”
“We could go outside and lash it up to the National Grid.”
“Wrong sort of energy. It’s got to come from our universe.”
“But we don’t have anything.”
“There’s me.” The Doctor cradles the green light in his hands and blows on it. The light gets brighter. “I just gave away ten years of my life. Worth every second.”
“So the TARDIS is recharging how long does that give us?” You ask.
“24 hours give or take.”
“In that case let’s take a look around.” When the group splits up you go with Mickey instead of Rose or the Doctor.
“Why’d you come with me?” Mickey asks.
“Because I have no interest in meeting Rose’s dad or staying in the TARDIS, besides you’re always ending up forgotten, somehow.” You reply. Mickey chuckles.
“Thanks, Y/N.” He says.
🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝
Unsurprisingly you and Mickey get into a bit of a situation. The two of you get mistaken for someone you’re not.
“What the hell are you doing with Y/N Holmes, Ricky?” The person who snagged you and Mickey asks.
“I think you’ve gotten us confused with someone else.” You say. “I’m Y/N Winchester and this is Mickey.”
“I know the wife of Mycroft Holmes when I see her.” You wrinkle your nose slightly- why the hell would you marry Mycroft? Mickey rolls with it.
You pull your gun out of the waistband of your jeans and fire a few shots into the ceiling causing everyone to freeze. “I will put away the gun when you untie my friend and stop calling me by someone else’s name.” You say in a calm tone of voice. “Yes, my name is Y/N, however, I am not a Holmes.”
“Y/N Holmes can’t shoot worth crap boss.” One of the men says. “I reckon that we should do what she says.” The man called Ricky reluctantly agrees. They free Mickey he looks a bit scared of you.
“Do you always keep that thing on you?” He asks.
“Pretty much. Now, let’s figure out what in hell’s name is happening.”
After awhile everyone is reunited and the Doctor explains Cybermen. “This day keeps getting better and better.” You sarcastically state.
“Y/N.” Rose says. “Not the time.” You roll your eyes as your phone goes off. You dig it out of your pocket and look at the contact and just simply turn off your phone.
“They don’t need to know about this.” You mutter as you put your phone away.
“Your family?”
“Yeah.” You then notice all the people lined up outside on the street. “Oh my god.”
“What?”
“Take a look.” Everyone does so and the look the Doctor has on his face is ‘oh shit’ once out of the van you go with Rose, the Doctor, and Pete (Rose’s dad). The four of you duck in an alleyway behind trash cans. The Doctor uses his sonic to confuse the Cybermen walking past.
🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝
Mickey says he doesn’t want to be the tin dog anymore. “What do you mean by a tin dog?” You ask. Mickey shakes his head not answering the question.
“If we survive this, I’ll see you back at the TARDIS.” The Doctor says, grabbing your arm and running off with you and Mrs. Moore. The three of you head to the cooling tunnels. You button up the flannel you’re wearing, glad that you decided to wear one of your brothers’.
“It’s freezing.” Mrs. Moore says.
“Any sign of a light switch?” The Doctor asks.
“No, nothing.” You reply.
“I’ve got these. A device for every occasion.” Mrs. Moore hands both you and the Doctor a flashlight on a headband. Both of you put them on.
“Haven’t got a hotdog in there, have you? I’m starving.” The Doctor says causing you to roll your eyes.
“Of all the things to wish for. That’s mechanically recovered meat.”
“I know. It’s the Cyberman of food, but it’s tasty.”
“Doctor focus.” You say.
“Right, of course, sorry Y/N.” The Doctor replies. “Let’s see where we are.” Cybermen line the walls. You let out a small gasp. “Already converted, just put on ice. Come on.”
“Are you sure those things aren’t activated?” You ask. The man from the planet Gallifrey taps on a face of a Cyberman. No reaction.
“Let’s go slowly. Keep an eye out for trip systems.” The Doctor advises. He then makes small talk with Mrs. Moore. “How did you get into this, then, rattling along with the Preachers?”
“Oh, I used to be ordinary. Worked at Cybus Industries, nine to five, until one day, I find something I’m not supposed to. A file on the mainframe. All I did was read it. Then suddenly I’ve got men with guns knocking in the middle of the night. Life on the run. Then I found the Preachers. They needed a techie, so I just sat down and taught myself everything.” Mrs. Moore replies.
“What about Mr. Moore?”
“Well, he’s not called Moore. I got that from a book, Mrs. Moore. It’s safer not to use real names. But he thinks I’m dead. It was the only way to keep him safe. Him and the kids. What about you two? Got any family, or…?”
“I’ve got three older siblings. Mom died when I was little and my dad died fairly recently.” You reply.
“Oh, who needs a family? I’ve got the whole world on my shoulders. Go on, then. What’s your real name?” The Doctor adds in.
“Angela Price. Don’t tell a soul.” Mrs. Moore, well Angela replies.
“Your secret is safe with us.” You say.
“Doctor, did that one just move?” Angela asks shining her flashlight at one of the Cybermen.
“It’s just the torchlight. Keep going, come on.” The Doctor replies as another Cyberman comes towards you three. “They’re waking up. Run!”
The three of you climb up a latter to somewhere safer at least for the moment. The Doctor seals the trapdoor with his screwdriver. You guys walk along a corridor where there’s a lone Cyberman. “You are not upgraded.” It says.
“Yeah? Well, upgrade this.” Angela retorts. She throws a small rod with copper wire wrapped around it at the Cyberman. It sticks to the metal and the Cyberman jerks, then sparks and collapses.
“What the hell was that thing?” You ask.
“Electromagnetic bomb. Takes out computers, I figured it might stop the cyber-suit.”
“You figured right. Now, let’s have a look. Know your enemy. A logo on the front. Lumic’s turned them into a brand. Heart of steel, but look.” The Doctor replies as he removes the logo boss on the chest. Inside is not just electronics.
“Is that flesh?!” You ask, your voice an octave higher than normal.
“Hmmm. Central nervous system. Artificially grown then threaded throughout the suit so it responds like a living thing. Well, it is a living thing. Oh, but look. Emotional inhibitor. Stops them feeling anything.”
“Why?” Angela asks.
“It’s still got a human brain. Imagine its reaction if it could see itself, realize itself inside this thing. They’d go insane.”
“So they cut out the one thing that makes them human.”
“Because they have to.”
“I’m going to be sick.” You declare. Seems like nobody hears you because the Cyberman starts to speak.
“Why am I cold?” You almost start to cry- there is still a human somewhere in that Cyberman suit.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” The Doctor mutters.
“Why so cold?”
“Can you remember your name?”
“Sally. Sally Phelan.”
“You were a woman…” You say in a soft yet broken voice.
“Where’s Gareth?” The Cyberman, well Sally asks.
“Who’s Gareth?” The Doctor asks.
“He can’t see me. It’s unlucky the night before.” You’re heart literally shatters. This woman was going to be married before she the Cybermen ‘upgraded’ her. “I’m cold. I’m so cold.”
“It’s all right. You sleep now, Sally. Just go to sleep.” The Doctor says, as he puts the sonic screwdriver inside the chest cavity and switches her off. “Sally Phelan didn’t die for nothing because that’s the key. The emotional inhibitor. If we could find the code behind it, the cancellation code, then feed it throughout the system into every Cyberman’s head, they’d realize what they are.”
When Angela stands up, a Cyberman grabs her shoulders and electrocutes her. “Sensors detect a binary vascular system. You are an unknown upgrade. You will be taken for analysis.” The Cyberman says to the both of you. You share a look with the Doctor, you’re glad that you’re not dead (yet) but you’re also confused about why you’re not dead. You should’ve read as a human on the Cyberman’s sensors.
“We’ve been captured, but don’t worry, Rose and Pete are still out there. They can rescue us.” The Doctor tells you as the two of you are lead to a control room. Unfortunately Rose and Pete are already there. “Oh well, never mind. You okay?”
“Yeah. But they got Jackie.” Rose answers.
“Where’s Mickey then?” You ask. Rose shrugs. Pete says that his boss upgraded her. The Doctor then asks where is the man in charge of all of this. He comes out as a Cyberman in an upgraded wheelchair.
The Doctor talks for awhile before saying: “Oh, Lumic, you’re a clever man. I’d call you a genius, except I’m in the room. But everything you’ve invented, you did to fight your sickness. And that’s brilliant. That is so human. But once you get rid of sickness and mortality, then what’s there to strive for, eh? The Cybermen won’t advance. You’ll just stop. You’ll stay like this forever. A metal Earth with metal men and metal thoughts, lacking the one thing that makes this planet so alive. People. Ordinary, stupid, brilliant people.”
“You are proud of your emotions.” The Cyberman in the wheelchair points out.
“Oh, yes.”
“Then tell me, Doctor. Have you known grief, and rage, and pain?”
“Yes. Yes, I have.”
“And they hurt?”
“Oh, yes.”
“I could set you free. Would you not want that? A life without pain?”
“You might as well kill me.”
“Then I take that option.”
“Doctor?” You ask. The time lord throws you a look, shutting you up.
“It’s not yours to take. You’re a Cyber Controller. You don’t control me or anything with blood in its heart.” The Doctor says to the Cyberman.
“You have no means of stopping me. I have an army. A species of my own.” The Cyberman explains.
“You just don’t get it, do you? An army’s nothing. Because those ordinary people, they’re the key. The most ordinary person could change the world.” You manage a scared smile. “Some ordinary man or woman, some idiot. All it takes is for him to find, say- the right numbers. The right codes. For example, the code behind the emotional inhibitor. The code right in front of him.”
“What’s he doing?” You whisper to Rose. Your best friend shrugs in response.
“Even an idiot knows how to use computers these days.” The Doctor states, you then realize he’s referring to Mickey. “Knows how to get past firewalls and passwords. Knows how to find something encrypted in the Lumic Family Database, under er… what was it, Pete? Binary what?”
“Binary Nine.” Pete replies.
“An idiot could find that code. Cancellation code and he’d keep on typing. Keep on fighting. Anything to save his friends.”
“Your words are irrelevant.” The head Cyberman says. The Doctor shrugs.
“Yeah, talk too much, that’s my problem. Lucky I got you that cheap tariff, Rose, for all our long chats.”
“You will be deleted.”
“Yes. Delete, control, hash. All those lovely buttons. Then, of course, my particular favorite, send. And let’s not forget how you seduced all those ordinary people in the first place.” Rose’s phone goes off, she pulls it out of her pocket and looks at it. “By making every bit of technology compatible with everything else.”
“It’s for you.” Rose says handing the Doctor her phone.
“Like this.” The Doctor puts the phone into a docking station, which it miraculously fits. The code is transmitted and the Cybermen cry out in pain. The code appears on every computer screen. Cybermen everywhere look like they are in pain. The Doctor gave the converted Cybermen back their humanity.
🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝
“I have never been more happy to see that big blue box.” You say. Your moment of happiness is gone when you hear Mickey say that he would like to stay behind in this parallel world to look after his gran. The Doctor hands Mickey, Rose’s phone so he can continue destroying the Cybermen in this world.
“I guess if we ever get stuck here again we have some allies on our side.” You say with a watery smile. “Guess we’ll see you around Mick.”
“Look after those siblings of yours Y/N.” Mickey replies pulling you into a brief hug. With that, you walk into the TARDIS.
The TARDIS lands in the Tyler’s flat and Rose pulls her mother into a hug, relieved that she’s okay.
“Where’s Mickey?” Jackie asks.
“He went home.” You answer. “Thinking of home, I should get back to my family.”
“Need a lift?” The Doctor asks.
“Yeah. That would be great.”
