Drama Updates!

Of the currently airing dramas I’m currently watching, I’m Not a Robot, Just Between Lovers, and Hwayugi! 

 I’m Not A Robot: 1-12

It’s great! I know some people are wary because of the “sci fi ness” but let me assure you it’s not. I mean there is an AI but the heroine is not a robot. She’s just pretending to be one. Because the AI was designed by her ex to look like her. Which is frankly creepy and while I seriously dislike her brother I’m glad he called the professor out on that. 

The hero, Kim Min Kyu, is great! The perfect belnd of cluelessness of social interactions, not because he’s a genius or rich but because he has actually never dealt with people before! 

In the #kdramanetwork chat we discussed how in the beginning it gives off Beauty and the Beast vibes (complete with a Room You Must Never Enter), a hero who needs to learn how to be human again and a kind heroine who while not a genius seems to understand people much better than anyone gives her credit for.

Just Between Lovers: 1-4

I initially started watching this while waiting for Hwayugi to be up on viki but, I don’t regret it! It’s really goood! A bit slow but it’s more of a character piece anyways about survivors of a disaster and them learning to deal with how their life after such a change. I do love the hero and heroine and their interactions are really great! It seems the hero has figured out who she is but the heroine still has no idea. Because she has very naturally blocked out her trauma. 

Our hero, Gang Doo, has no time for social fallacies and just says what he thinks in his straightforward way. For someone who says that in life you should only look out for yourself he seems to spend a lot of time worrying about other people. Moon Soo, our heroine, is a bit more of a puzzle. On the surface it seems like she has everything handled but then you learn more about her, how she doesn’t let other people get close to her and you see that’s she’s just better at covering up her issues.

I’m eager to see them figure each other out and for their relationship to begin.

Hwayugi: 1

Honestly, I’m going to be super biased going into this because I love Lee Seung Gi, Hong sister’s dramas, and fantasy dramas. SO that being said, I loved this first episode!

Son Oh Gong is this upfront immature selfish character and what stops him from being unlikable is the little moments you see of his sincerity and kindness. Like when he smiled at the kid after he exorcised the demon or how kind he is to General Frost.

Cha Seung Won as Ma Wong, was amazing casting because he does this wonderful blend of a charismatic ceo and yet over dramatic goof. Who else could pull off sniffing slippers and then casually walking away??

Oh Yeon Seo as Jin Sun Mi is great! I love how badass she is but still with a vulnerable center. Like yeah she doesn’t have any powers but you know what she does have? A brain, courage, and a heart. 

I also love that Oh Gong signed up for being her protector without any intentions of following through but now he’s going to have to and it’s going to be wonderful. I really want to see him fall in love with her. It’s gonna be amazing.

Okay so I'm pretty much marathoning Fated To Love You (Korean version) and I'm loving it so much! I'm on episode 8 and i just know Things are gonna happen and I'm not ready. Its so goooood. (Also I haven't seen the original so no spoilers please!)

It’s kdrama watching update time! I’m wrapping up Hospital Ship, talking about While You Were Sleeping, Go Back Couple, the Package and Fight My Way!

Hospital Ship: Final Verdict

Overall I really like this show! My only real complaint is the last episode!! That last minute cancer plot was a waste of time. I rather know what’s Jae Geol gonna do after his military service. If Nurse Ah Rim became a higher level nurse? Did she get together with the Dentist Doctor?? Did Manager Choo get back together with his wife? 

While You Were Sleeping: Up to ep 28(14)

I’m kinda confused about the mythos?? If the dreams come after you’re saved, then why did Jae Chan and Junior Cop not have dreams the whole time? Or did they and we were never told?? Otherwise, I love the main characters!! So real, so awkward.

Go Back Couple: 1-8 

I love this show!! Second chance romances are a second favorite of mine and this is great!! Ban Do takes some getting used to but Jin Joo is great!! I just wanna know was it all a dream?? Or did they actually time travel and therefore change the past??

The Package: 1-8

Honestly, I thought this drama was gonna be a throwaway to watch in between Revolutionary Love and Go Back Couple but nope that turned out to be Revolutionary Love, whoops. This show is great and I love the insights into each character in the tour package and that they’re more than their archetype. The only thing I dislike is what they did at the end of episode 8, because I HATE miscommunication or more accurately a situation that gets out of hand that wouldn’t have if the two characters would just TALK TO EACH OTHER.

Fight My Way: 9-10 

This show is so cute!! I love the main otp!! Where can I get me a Dong-Man??? But uh Seol-Hee deserves better??!?! I think Joo-man needs to think his life through. I think it’s very telling that he’s wavering for a girl who is basically Seol-Hee 2.0? Like it’s not her but that she reminds him of Seol Hee back when they were first together. I think he got jaded and tired and I dunno. ANYWAYS. I love Dong Man and Ae Ra. I hate his ex though.

Loved it! Would rec it and watch it again!!

School 2017: Final Verdict

It was great! A fun watch and an otp to die for! I was surprised that the rating were so low! I dunno why!

Strongest Deliveryman: Final Verdict

I didn’t talk about it much on here but I was watching this and I did like it! I feel torn because overall I did like this show, the ending though. It just changed it’s main plot or maybe abandoned parts of the plot?? Like Kang Soo was looking for his mother right? And then they didn’t even wrap that up til like the last two episodes? Like is Hyun Soo his half brother?? Is that also his grandmother?? What happened to Chef and Soon Ae? Do they own the restaurant now?? What about the delivery gang??

While You Were Sleeping: 1-4

I like it! It feels like dreaming the future is a disease that’s catching but who knows??? I dunno. I’m here for the pretty. (no I wanna know tho)

Nirvana in Fire: 1-18 

I LOVE THIS. Though it can only end in tears. (NiF will get it’s own post because I have many many thoughts on it.)

Hospital Ship: 1-24

I was disappointed in Hyun last week but only because I loved him so much. I try not to hate on a character but that ex (who’s name I seem to refuse to learn) I DO NOT LIKE HER. AT ALL. Any sympathy I had for her is gone baby gone. Jae Geol though is *heart eyes* and I want him to be happy.

Alright so updates on my drama watching! The cut contains my thoughts and opinions on Fight My Way, Father is Strange, the Best Hit and Bride of the Water God.

Fight My Way 1-6:

I really like it! Ae Ra has clearly had a crush on Dong Man for so long its become a condition that she’s more or less gotten used to. Dong Man, bless his heart, is kinda the stereotype for emotionally stunted macho dude, except he’s actually nice just well still childlike when it comes to his emotions. 

Moo Bin also needs to calm his thrusters. He doesn’t want anyone to steal her but he doesn’t have her yet anyways.

Seol Hee is just so soft and I hope she stays that way. Her dreams are not the big type but the Goldilocks Just Right Type for her. There’s a lot of comments on how she could look prettier but she’s just fine the way she is, it’s just that she doesn’t have confidence in herself looks wise, or rather isn’t concerned with how she looks.

Joo Man seems like a nice guy just not very forward and/or clear. He needs to be straight with his family and the woman from work.

As for their dreams, I understand that Ae Ra is concerned he’ll get hurt but Dong Man needs to try for his dream just as much as she does.

I love everyone’s friendship pls don’t break my heart.

Father is Strange 37:

Joon Young and Yoo Joo, we all saw it coming except for YJ, I guess. There’s going to be a breakdown but I have confidence they’ll get through it.

I was worried about how Ra Young reacted about Cheol Soo’s chaebol status but I’m glad she has confidence in herself and belief in CS’s dreams. His father is totally Up To No Good but Ra Young can handle it.

Hye Young has a much character than I to feel sympathy for her MIL. I can’t stand her. Do I understand why she acts that way? yes. Do I care? no. Just becomes someone puts you down constantly doesn’t mean you can do the same to everyone else. As for JH’s dad he’s just as selfish as his wife he’s just quieter so people don’t know notice as much. Jeong Hwan...is stuck pretty much any way he goes and it’s something he needs to deal with.

Mi Young...she definitely has feelings for Joon Hee but doesn’t know it yet. She’s clearly regressing to eating her feelings which is something she doesn’t need in addition to dating a guy she doesn’t have feelings for.

First off, I’m very glad Joon Hee decided to get professional help to deal with his mental/emotional issues. Just not that happy about his choice of doctor. She seemed okay but then she started crossing some lines. I’m glad that JH got those test results but this is gonna hurt him so badly. I don’t know how he’ll react to this. Earlier episodes JH would lash out and burn bridges but this new JH who’s softer and learned to be kinder, I just don’t know.

Mom and Dad will definitely have to deal with this sooner rather than later. Frankly the fact they kept the secret for as long as they have is a miracle.

The Best Hit 1-22:

I love it. I don’t have a breakdown of this but quick highlights. I love how direct Hyun Jae is. He says exactly what he thinks so a person always knows where they stand with him. He wasn’t like that in the past but he is now and I love that. Woo Seung is due for some heartbreak which is sad because I love her. I wanna know more about Drill.

Bride of the Water God 1-7:

Honestly I didn’t have high expectations of this and so far I’m right. It seems like so much is happening yet nothing is happening?? It’s an hour long but only like 30 minutes of it does that plot move. Though we have picked the pace up a bit and that’s great. I kinda wish this was all happening in the Gods’ Realm because it’s just so pretty. 

Habaek for all his high mightyness and cluelessness about the human world is actually very smart and clever. He can cut right to the heart of the matter as was obvious from the first episodes when he boiled down So Ah’s wish to just wanting to be happy.

Moo Ra honestly is just like a middle school girl with a crush and wants to get what she wants without telling anyone what it is. 

Bi Ryum is a mischievous and capricious god. I don’t think he has bad intentions he just wants what he wants first.

Father is Strange 48:

Things seem to be wrapping up nicely with the exception of Mom Young-shil’s illness! I really hope they don’t kill her.

Mi Young and Joong Hee!!!!! I’m trying to think of something coherent but all I’m getting is  !!!

Hye Young is my favorite forever and ever.

The Best Hit:

I LOVED IT. 

TBH, the timeline stuff doesn’t make sense, if he’s the Hyun Jae from 93 then how does the one from 94 exist??? But I don’t care because I loved all the characters, the otp, and the ost. 

Totally worth a watch! ddabong!!

School 2017 1-10:

I don’t think I’ve ever fallen in love faster. The heroine, Eun Ho, had me from the start. I thought Tae Woon was going to be one of those tsundere heroes BUT NOPE. He’s a freaking swoonworthy dork. 

Dae Hwi is not the second lead because there is not a love triangle (thank you drama gods) but he does have his own story to tell and I hope he continues to be brave and make the tough choices.

Also their classmates!! I like how none of them feel 2 dimensional. Like we don’t just have ‘top student who’s a jerk’ no we have ‘top student who is jerk and also has an anger problem with a snobby mother’. Sa Rang is great. Guitar Guy who’s name I’ve forgotten. BO RA, I’m so proud of her.

Also Eun Ho’s family. LOVE THEM.

TEACHER SHIM. The earnest best teacher ever. 

This whole show is about how they’re just eighteen!!! Old enough to be responsible for their actions but young enough to change! 

One More Happy Ending 1-2:

First impressions! Cute! It seems like it’ll be a good one, I just haven’t had time to watch much of it.

I just watched episode 7-8 of Fight My Way.

How dare you play my girl Ae Ra that way?! I knew something was up when you would guilt trip or manipulate her but at the most I thought you were just trying to pull one over Dong Man which was bad enough but really.

BUT OMG THE CONFESSIONS. tbh there’s been lowkey confessions since ep 1 but Ae Ra like basically put it out there.

ALSO GO DONG MAN 19s TOTAL KNOCKOUT. THAT’S RIGHT. (my type)

Also ZHera is so pretty.

Just started Fight My Way. I really like it so far! The friendship is #goals. 

Though maybe because I’m also watching The Best Hit right now, which has a great OST, I don’t particularly like any of the songs for it. Though I’m only on ep 3 so maybe a new song will be better. :)
