ANYWAYS! I know you've been going through a writer's block lately, and I read a post that said something about asking/commenting about the fictions to help the "stucked" autor, SO!

I've been re-reading TW III (shocking, I know) and those little hints about married!kc are just 😭😭 my heart melts, really, although... I was never really sure you'd get them married, mostly due to Care's speech to Cami about how Klaus supposedly sees weddings, and because I remember you saying that you weren't planning on giving them an actual marriage, but rather the closest thing next to it. I checked to comments to see other thoughts, and I saw one of you reply saying that you were completely against married!kc at the start, but then you were slowing changing your mind about it...

so, what was it that made you say "fuck it, I'm gonna ring the bells"?? is it because many people asked you to do it, so you are throwing us a bone, or is it something else?? I'm really interest on hearing the process of your change of heart <3

Objectively, I still think Klaus is not the marrying kind (in canon context, at least). That man has been alive for a thousand years. He's the vampire of vampires, one who sees humans as a lower species. He's used to getting what he wants by conquering and subjugating because he can. Why would he ever submit himself to an inherently human institution that, throughout history, has served as a tool for various types of social, political and religious control? The ceremony itself doesn't mean anything to him. He probably thinks it's ridiculous and performative, not to mention extremely frail. You can just change your mind and get a divorce, or the good old spouse murder, and then what? What's even the point?

(Just to be clear: I'm not personally preaching against weddings and marriages here btw, it's just how I think Klaus might have seen it.)

If you look at it from the sentimental side, Klaus spent almost a thousand years saying that love is a sign of weakness, a character flaw. He carried his siblings, the only people he genuinely cared about, inside coffins because he didn't trust them enough not to leave him, betray him or end up captured and killed by one of his enemies. Now, why would he want to marry someone, thus exposing yet another vulnerability to be exploited?

Having said that 😂

When we first see Klaus in TVD he's trying to surround himself with a whole new OP supernatural species that will have no choice but to stand with him. They will protect him, they will go to war for him, do whatever he asks them to and they will never leave (or that's what he thought, anyway) because they don't have a choice. That is the only way Klaus knows how to trust people: by completely removing their capacity to challenge him. That's how paranoid he is.

But as the story progresses, and especially with The Wolf in particular because it takes their relationship much further than the show, Klaus realizes there is more than one way to earn people's trust. I feel like that's one of the pillars of his relationship with Caroline. He could've just compelled her (in TVD, not TW because she's a witch), but he never did because he wanted more from her than obedience. All of the things he liked about her - her personality, her honesty, her fire, her loyalty - would've been essentially erased or made meaningless if he'd compelled her. Which puts her in direct opposition to how he related to his hybrids, right? He pretends to be fine with people who have no choice but to follow him, but what he really craves is more real than that. He surrounds himself with people who will worship the ground he walks on after some forged "gratitude" for releasing them of their curse, but he is fascinated by how gutsy Caroline is to look him in the eye and tell him the things that no one else will dare to. What he really seeks but doesn't have the courage to admit is that he wants someone who will choose to be with him. And that's the difficult part, because it can't be conquered or taken, it has to be earned.

Klaus comes from a place of paranoia and extreme distrust of everything and everyone around him, especially after Mikael in New Orleans, and he feels very isolated and alone. He tells Stefan about that, right? The loneliness of immortality. When The Wolf starts, in spite of how he and Caroline were having a bit of a thing before it, he's not sure she would want to stay with him. Actually, he thinks the first chance she gets, she's gonna bail. It's why he's mad when he thinks she wants to terminate the pregnancy. It's not about the baby (it's never about the baby), he couldn't care less about the damn baby at that point, it's the fact that he thinks she's trying to get rid of him, as if that pregnancy is the one thing that is holding them together at that point and so if she's no longer pregnant, she doesn't have to be with him. What I'm very inarticulately trying to say is that his initial approach to Caroline being pregnant is the same he had with his hybrids, as if the baby is a version of a sire bond. It's crazy and dysfunctional, yes, but it's how Klaus rationalizes it, how he thinks he gets to keep people around him - either through daggering them or giving them no choice.

Slowly, Klaus internalizes the fact that Caroline is choosing him. She tells him that a few times throughout the story, and even when he's hallucinating her at the beginning of TW4, because that's something that she has said before and that has stuck with him for reason. She could've left him at any point, but she didn't because she wants to be with him. It's a choice that she has made not because he forced her to, but because she's in love with him. She protects him, she fights for him, she walks through hellfire for him because she wants to, not because she must. He has earned her trust and her love and her loyalty. And that is something that is new for Klaus in his one thousand years of life, at least at this magnitude and with this much clarity and certitude.

So I think when I started writing TW3, which was them in their domestic era, it started to feel like something Klaus might actually do. Not just because it obviously does mean something to Caroline and he would basically do anything for her (even though she never asks for it, which in itself is something, because Caroline comes from relationships that made her feel so insecure and unsafe that she would've held on to a ring like a lifeline, but with Klaus she simply does not need hard evidence to feel safe and reassured, she knows how Klaus feels about her, she's very comfortable in their relationship, she knows that what offers her means a lot more than a thousand weddings to other people ever would - even though she does still love a good wedding lol), but because it suddenly makes sense to him. Not the big party, or the tradition of it, or making it official or anything of the sort, but as a way to externalize what he feels. There is a symbolism to it that while not ideal, it might be the closest to thing to expressing just how devoted he is to her and how she is, pure and simple, eternity for him. When that comes from someone who has lived for as long he has, and who has been as cynical as he was for as long as he was, it does mean something, even if nothing else does.

There is a territorial factor to it as well, of course. 😌 He's a very possessive man and so he wants everyone to know Caroline is his, and it's why it first came to him during the thing with Jackson, but it's more than just that. If it was just about that, he wouldn't do it. He is at a point where he no longer has any doubts about how Caroline feels for him (although there will be a little something something on that front at the beginning of TW4, just because they've been apart for so long, but it will be quickly dispelled).

The most sacred thing for Klaus was the vow he took with his siblings when they fled Viking Falls. They stuck together through everything because of that. He knows the value of a vow and a promise. And he wants a version of that with Caroline. It's the first time in his life when he contemplates genuinely offering that to someone other than his family. There are a million ways he could go about it, probably, but he knows asking her to marry him is the one that will be most representative to her, because of the age where she was born and how she grew up, etc.

And so that is why I decided that Klaus was going to buy a ring even though I crossed my heart and hoped to die a million times for years when people asked me about that. 😂 I just think it's the natural course this story has taken. It's long enough that it eventually made sense to me that he might do it.

Does any of that make sense???? I don't know! I just typed my stream of thought and hoped for the best and now I'm afraid to read it again, so apologies if it's just crazy words.

Now if only I can get back to writing and actually get to that part. 🥲 Pray for me 🙏

I wanted to ask you two things:

1. I know you get asked this a lot, but is there any chance we will get an update this weekend or the next? 🙏🏻🙏🏻 (I'm asking specifically about the weekend because, from what I remember, those are the days you usually update, but you know, I wouldn't be opposed to a surprise👀)

2. this is more a "personal" question. So, I noticed a few times that Klamille fans bring up the fact that "Klaus called Camille his soulmate." I usually try to engage as little as I can with anything related to that ship (I'll never understand people who do the opposite. Don't like? Keep scrolling.) but I was genuinely getting curious, so i decided to look up the scene... Now, I'm not usually one that does a lot of slander on ship/characters I don't like, not publicly at least, but GOD, How the hell did the Klamille fans managed to came up with the whole soulmate thing?😭 having a "deep connetion" ≠ soulmates. He had a deep connection with Elijah, Rebekah, CAROLINE, Marcel, and even Hayley. he used to have one with aurora, too. Now, Camille is literally a therapist, IT'S PART OF HER JOB TO ESTABLISH A CONNECTION WITH HER PATIENTS. so, really, maybe I'm biased, but I can't see the soulmate thing even under a magnifying glass. Anyways, all of that just to ask you, what's your take? I'm pretty sure you will agree with me, but I just saw that specific scene that everyone keeps referring to whilst you watched the whole show multiple times, so ofc you have a bigger view of the whole thing.

Hi, friend! :) How's it going?

For the first question, there won't be an update this week. There's a small chance for next week, but it really depends on how much time I get to write and edit, which is unclear. But I'm almost finished with the chapter. There's a key scene I'm getting a little stuck on, but the final three ones should be more straightforward because they're less character-centered and more plotty, those are usually easier to get through for me.

As for the second, I was very confused for a moment because when did Klaus ever say Cami was his soulmate... �� I think you mean the scene where he tells Hayley that the person he shared a connection with is dead? That seems like a bit of a reach for me lol Doesn't he talk about his connection to Caroline as well in 5x11? By those standards, he has two soulmates? And I'm sure he said similar stuff about Aurora, he calls her a kindred soul or something, which is a lot closer to saying someone is your soulmate than saying you share a connection. Either way, to me it really seems like a bit of a stretch lol But I guess Klamille fans were given crumbles really, their ship was very badly treated and kind of lived in the shadow of another ship, so they do what they can with what they're given. IMO, Klaus saying to someone that he intends to be their last love and will wait for them for as long as it takes, considering he's immortal, is a lot more meaningful, but that's just me 😂 I'd never tell someone that they are wrong though, it's their right to interpret the shows whichever way they want and people are always going to be biased about these things. Ship and let ship!

So I decided, instead of going straight into editing the next chapter, to try and churn out another one. I feel like S04E01 and 02 are kind of interconnected and so it would make sense to have them posted with a shorter interval between the two.

But I may have overestimated my writing skills, cause chapter 2 is just kicking my ass so bad. 🫠

But we'll see. I'm about 75% done. That last part is seriously trying to kill me.

I was actually re-reading the final chapter of TW || and I saw this bit here on the AN:

" I felt they needed one more step for everything to be definitively fixed, and while in TO Klaus didn't move a finger to break the curse he put on his child's mother (lolol), here he decided to go beyond for the sake of Caroline. "

Does that mean that, in canon, those 3 months were actually just Klaus and the baby? who did break? how? Did Hayley ever checked on Hope when she turned human on the full moon?

So in TO Hayley spends six months as a wolf, only returning to her human form during the full moon. On those days, Elijah would take Hope to the bayou so she could see her. Klaus never moved a single finger to reunite her with Hope or to undo the curse he'd made Dahlia put on the Crescents. If it was up to him, she'd have stayed a wolf the whole time and he woudl've raised Hope on his own lol

On the show, it's Davina who breaks the curse. She's in conflict with some of the Quarter witches because they don't respect her rule as Regent and she decides to eliminate the competition by "hiring" Hayley and Jackson to murder (!!) all of the witches who were against her (it's how she starts that rivalry with Van Nguyen, his mother was one of them). So she promises Hayley that if she helps her, she will undo the curse and that's how it ends (it's a temporary fix at first, and then Davina makes it permanent).

So you can see why I felt the need to change things 😂 They get on a full-on fist fight when she comes back which only ends because Hope sees them lol What a lovely domestic family moment!

I figured that for Caroline Klaus would've actually done something, small as it was, even if it was just him trying to ingratiate himself with her (although he didn't actually tell her he helped, so technically she thinks it was Bonnie who figured out how to undo it).

surprising absolutely no one, second ask of the day!!

this isn't really a question tho, I just wanted to let you know that since I've read Speed Dating, it has been stuck in my mind 24/7.

I'm not kidding when I tell you that I think about it at least once a day (I'm sorry if I sound like a fanatic but I mean it in the best way possible).

it was/is such an easygoing three-shot, but yet it really left me the feeling of having watched a five seasons show! it's like you managed to perfectly compact a long rom-com series in just three chapters and 23k words! idk maybe I'm overreacting but I really want you to know how much of a great job you did, that fic bring me so much comfort I can't even explain it 😭😭

ALSO, I have a feeling there will be a CaroMille moment, and THAT will be the final wake-up call for Caroline. Probably Camille just getting dumped from Klaus and Care runs into her, telling her that she's sorry for them, and Camille would just shrug and be like "I had zero chance against you". So Caroline would look at quizzically because she's a girl's girl and she DOES NOT go after "taken" man, so she would ask Cami what she meant and Cami would look at her with arched eyebrows and say something like "don't tell me you haven't noticed he's in love with you?" AND THEN BAM. (yes, I know, it's creepy and weird that I thought this through a lot, but in my excuse, I had to do something during math class other than sleeping)

I tend to get messages about The Wolf a lot, and I obviously love all of them (all of your messages about TW and your Eve hadcanons as well!), but it warms my heart so much to know people are reading and enjoying my other fics as well. 🤧

Speed Dating was such an accidental fic, it was never meant to be any longer than that first chapter, but years later I had this crazy friends to lovers phase and I knew I had to keep going with that one.🥹 I love rom coms sm! it's so, so, so nice to know you enjoyed that one so much. ❤️❤️❤️

It's also a good reminder that I need to get back to it. 🥲 I'm so close to the finish line you wouldn't believe, but I have been living in canon-ish universe between TW and NOLA that it's sometimes hard to switch back to human AU. But I gotta do it, I need to finish that.

And honestly, that's not a bad idea at all 😂 Caroline really is a girl's girl. She can call them bitches and be mean AF whilst still standing up for the collective cause. It's not what's going to happen, but I really like the idea.

I had to go back and see where I left off on chapter 3 and I just realized that I posted way less than I thought I had. 😂 Wow, you guys don't know the half of it.

when she says she won't get toxic bite, does it mean that the werewolf venom won't kill her, or that she won't be able to "inject" venom when she's the one who bites?

Hiii, friend! ✨ That's so nice that your mom is in Brazil! And in my city 😊 Hope she has a good time! And doesn't catch the virus that's been going around. 🫠 I didn't take my flu shots before I went to France and I guess I came back with my immunity levels all screwed up and now I'm down sick baaad. Such a crappy way to spend my first week off but anyway 🙃

So about that. Caroline means her bite isn't toxic. She's not a werewolf, so she doesn't have venom, can't transform into a wolf. Her situation is a loophole because she was turned into a vampire by wolf blood, but she's still not one. She's a premium vampire, let's put it this way 😂 As for whether or not werewolf venom would kill her, in my mind, yes. But it would be a much slower process, so the venom would take longer to kill her than a normal vampire. But the truth is she is yet to get bitten in the story for me to have worked that into it 😂 Though you can assume that she's had *situations* in private with Klaus where they realized that his bite wasn't healing. 👀
