December DIY- Mini Gingerbread House
Whoops, I forgot to post this last year! Here it is: super easy gingerbread house to make. I apologize for the sloppiness of the house, but we were anxious to eat them so they were made super quickly!
This is the last DIY I will be posting here for awhile!
Tumblr media
Check out a fun printable gingerbread house from my Etsy shop (no baking required): http://etsy.me/2ATgNwJ
Mini Gingerbread House
Level: Easy/Medium
Time: 20 minutes to bake & 15 minutes to decorate
If you’d like to see step-by-step instructions, keep reading.
Step 1: Collect materials.
You’ll need:
• Gingerbread Recipe (I used a mix from the store that makes super easy gingerbread and its delicious! It’s made by Betty Crocker)
• Frosting
• Butter Knife
• Small candies to decorate
Step 2: Make the gingerbread dough (whichever is your favorite recipe will do)
Step 3: Roll out the dough flat and make the shapes.
Tumblr media
For this step, cut out a large rectangle. Then cut in half lengthwise (as shown in the above picture, on the right). They cut those two long rectangles twice to make six mini rectangles.
Step 4: Bake the gingerbread in the oven.
Tumblr media
Follow the instructions to bake your cookies and let they cool.
Step 5: Construct the gingerbread house.
Tumblr media
Use frosting to construct the house. (I piped mine out of a plastic bag where I cut off the corner- super duper easy!) Just pipe frosting onto the sides and stick together. First construct the walls and then add the triangular roof. If you’d like it to be extra sturdy before placing the roof, you can put the constructed walls in the refrigerator to harden.
We added a mini marshmallow for a door!
Step 6: Add decorations & any finishing touches!

July DIY- Bowler Hat Guy Unicorn Binder Ready for your Master Plans (+Free Printable!)
Hey there! [This was supposed to be posted in July & it is now September. Better late than never!]
This month’s DIY is inspired by one of my favorite films: Meet the Robinsons! If you keep reading, you can make your own Evil Master Plan just like the Bowler Hat Guy (just in time for Halloween).
Evil Master Plan Unicorn Binder
Tumblr media
I’ve always wanted to recreate this, so here we go!
Tumblr media
Level: Easy
Time: 45 minutes
If you’d like to see step-by-step instructions, keep reading.
Tumblr media
Step 1: Collect supplies.
Tumblr media
You’ll need:
• Cardstock or Construction paper in Pink & Blue
• A Binder (I used a smaller binder: 10 x 7 inch, but any binder size will do!)
• Red heart stickers, red puffy paint or red paper
• White colored pencil
• Colored Pencils
• Scissors
• Unicorn Design (You can draw it or print out a Free PDF I have attached of my ink sketch on my website. Click here to download!)
• Hole Puncher
• Glue stick
• Paper to write your evil master plan (I also have a Free PDF here!)
• Glitter (optional)
Step 2: Cut Card stock paper for your cover.
Tumblr media
Measure the size of your binder cover and cut the pink paper so it will fit neatly into the sleeve. Then cut the blue paper the same size as the pink piece and then trim about 1/4-1/2 inch less on all four sides so it fits neatly in the center of the pink paper.
Step 3: Draw a unicorn or color in the printed pdf from my website.
Tumblr media
Color in the unicorn any colors you’d like! If you want it to look like The Bowler Hat Guy you will need the colors yellow/gold, cream, pink, black) This unicorn serves as a distraction to what is inside: Evil Master plan!
Note: You can find the printable here: Unicorn Printable in two sizes!
Ta Da! Now that it is colored in, cut out the unicorn carefully.
Step 4: Glue & Embellish your binder
If you’d like you can color in some swirls onto the blue paper to give it an extra magical touch!
Cut out or use stickers to make the hearts.
Tumblr media
Glue all of the pieces together and place inside the cover sleeve!
Tumblr media
Bonus step: Add glitter to your unicorn!
You can also add glitter to your unicorn’s hair and the sparkles around.
Step 5: Add in your master plan!
Tumblr media
Print out and hole punch the printable from my website here: Lists in Two Sizes
Fill in with your plan for the day!
You can also add your own line paper to write down your next master plans!
Tumblr media
You are now finished & ready to conquer the world with your DIY Unicorn Planner/Binder!
