These Root Beer Chicken Wings in the Crockpot are soft, tasty, and simple to make. They taste very different when you mix root beer and barbecue sauce together, which is sure to please your taste buds. Great for game day or any other casual get-together!
Ingredients: 2 lbs chicken wings. 1 can 12 oz root beer. 1 cup barbecue sauce. 1/4 cup soy sauce. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1 tsp onion powder. 1/2 tsp black pepper. 1/4 tsp salt. 1 tbsp cornstarch. Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish optional.
Instructions: Place chicken wings in the slow cooker. In a bowl, mix root beer, barbecue sauce, soy sauce, garlic, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Pour over the chicken wings. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or high for 2-3 hours, until chicken is tender and cooked through. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to make a slurry. Stir into the sauce in the slow cooker, mixing well. Continue cooking on high for an additional 30 minutes, or until the sauce thickens. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired before serving.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 4-5 hours on low or 2-3 hours on high
