To anyone thinking or saying Dillon Goo is unworthy of acquiring RWBY, not because of anything realistic like finances or the size of his studio, but because he's "just an animator", or just a rando from the internet who cannot write or run RWBY:
Thanks for perpetuating the piece of shit mindset that every soul-sucking corporation and braindead consumer has: that animators have no value or are just there to push buttons and make pixels move for the real creatives.
Animators are artists and creators. They have to work with numerous departments to make things work: They have to know what the writer/director wants, and tell them if it's even possible to put to screen; they have to work with artists and character designers to tell if they can commit that art into moving parts. And for an animated show, they're kind of... I dunno, the entire backbone of its production.
Anyone stupid enough to claim that, by their logic, should claim that Miles and Kerry were "just writers" and don't have the right nor the intelligence to have any opinions on RWBY's animation, character designs or music. That's how I know you have zero fucking idea how any actual media is produced, because in your head, these positions all just exist as separate little boxes in your brain so it's simple enough for you to grasp.
It was "just an animator" who made RWBY in the first place, dumbass. A "rando" making animations on the internet that Rooster Teeth took a chance on, and now he's responsible for their best-selling IP. By comparison, Dillon is starting at a way better starting position than Monty was, with a successful YouTube channel, public support from multiple current and ex-CRWBY like J Grelle (Tyrian's VA), Kim Newman (former animator who animated Sun's gunchucks in V5) and Jessica Nigri (Cinder's VA), and multiple collaborations with big companies like Hoyoverse.
If anything, I'd expect an animator like Dillon to know and care enough about his staff to not give them near-irreparable spinal damage. Gee, I wonder why Newman would think he'd be a better employer to work with? Dillon would know how an animation project is run and budgeted. Him being an animator is a benefit, for god's sake.
Monty had character design sketches but needed help from professional artists to fully design them. He knew bits of the plot but needed help fleshing it out. Do you have enough brain cells to rub together to know that's precisely what Dillon can do, too? Fuckin', I dunno, hire people? For his studio??
I'd rather have an animator run RWBY because RWBY is an animated series and he would know precisely 1) what complements the medium best and 2) the precise limits of what can or cannot work within his budget. By your ass-backwards logic, I would rather get EC Myers to run RWBY's production over Dillon just because he's a writer and has been employed with RT longer.
That's another moronic argument: "He's only been employed by RT for 1 Volume". Man, I don't care if he's been there for zero Volumes, his work clearly shows a greater understanding of RWBY's aesthetic, mainstream appeal and style than its own showrunners have for the past 7 years. Or is seniority in a defunct company responsible for a steadily unprofitable IP suddenly a positive in this business deal?
I need you to be aware that RWBY as an IP is a joke outside of the bubble of its fandom, and I am telling you bluntly as a fan. Nobody takes it seriously and the ones that do only praise it for either its action choreography or its character designs, one of which is guaranteed with Dillon's studio. Diehard fans may love RWBY, warts and all, but all that love and support clearly wasn't enough to keep it alive, because its reputation was already cemented from its own mismanagement.
What you do is you get the right person for the job. And Dillon ticks a lot of boxes for it. If you think he's unable to acquire RWBY because he's not a big corpo or cannot meet Warner's asking price, that's 100% fair. If you think he's unable to create something on the scale of Volume 9, that's also 100% fair, but only if you're attached to the idea that you'd rather have Volume 10 or more of the same RWBY that was operating at a loss than any RWBY at all. Or if you'd rather see a season of 14 episodes 15 minutes long where 60-70% of it is made up of exposition, talking head scenes and increasingly overambitious world expanding, over shorter episodes with amazing RWBY action sequences with a story that never bites off more than it can chew.
But if you think Dillon is unqualified or worse, unworthy or undeserving (what a weirdo thing to say about a person, like owning RWBY is like inheriting the fucking throne of Gondor), all because he's "just an animator" or because he was smart enough to see RT for the meat-grinder hellhole it was and left to find success on his own, you're full of shit.
And if you disapprove of him because of his association with Shane, go find a restroom because your unsightly hateboner is showing. It's been almost ten years since the letter and you all have been holding this unfettered rage clenched between your buttcheeks longer than Shane's ever been with Rooster Teeth.
And for what? Pointing out Rooster Teeth is a fucked place to work at? Whoops, that was true and now it's six feet under for every scandal and worker abuse case they brought on themselves. For stealing and cannibalising their creators' IPs? Whoops, that's fucking true as well.

I really miss Poser era RWBY. Not only did the models actually have textures and better anatomy/proportions, but that era of RWBY has a more unique art direction to it compared to the Maya era. Poser era was jank for sure but there was a very strong emphasis on minimalist color palettes and direction. The Red trailer is so iconic partially cause the direction/composition used the minimalistic color palette to its advantage. Ruby and her saturated red cape always stood out against the neutral white and black environments.
Maya era RWBY??? It looks like any other 3DCG anime out there except really cheap and ugly looking. Nothing about Maya era RWBY stands a chance against the sleek and sexy aesthetic with strong color direction of Poser era RWBY
it's crazy how most of maya can look cheaper than poser when poser was legitimately made with like 2 pretzels & a piece of string? like yeah, the backgrounds can be gorgeous in maya but it doesn't mean a lick of shit if the models of the girls themselves look like stop motion barbie dolls!
it's no surprise that dc twitter has been ripping apart the new crossover movie when the animation department of dc movies is it's golden goose, the crown jewel in a mess of live action disasters & the morons of rooster teeth decided to fuck that up with their plasticine disasters. imagine what we could've had if the girls & world had been animated in the dcau's style 😔

I'll bite, how?
Both RWBY stans and RWDE consistently miscast and misrepresent the style and aesthetics of the characters they obsess over in almost identical ways. Ask me how.
RWBY stans want everything as qu**r as possible to prop up RWBY as a progressive show, and can therefore commonly be found painting Yang as some kind of butch lesbian dream with abs and muscles galore, despite the fact that Yang is about as butch as I am (hint: not at all).
RWDE types, on the other hand, want to misremember older RWBY as more inherently qu**r (I'm using that word to satisfy y'all, not me) so that they can decry what Rooster Teeth ruined and took from them, despite the fact that there's more than enough reasons to hate Rooster Teeth without making shit up. Couldn't find it again (not that I care about anyone who catches strays, y'all know me, I'll vibe check my best friends), but I've seen people refer to Ruby as butch and Blake as gnc. Not new Blake--old Blake, with the cleaver sword.
Tumblr media
What part of this is gender-nonconforming to you? Is it the bow? The high heels? The thigh-high stockings? The exposed midriff? There is not a single member of RWBY who is butch or gender nonconforming. And you know why?
Cause that wasn't in vogue. That hadn't taken off yet. What was in vogue at the time was feminist fantasy. Girl power. Girly girls glittering and high heel-ing their way through battle. And that's why the members of Team RWBY look the way they do--feminine. Ruby's goth feminine. Yang's aggressively feminine. Weiss is princess feminine. Yang dresses for the male gaze, skirts are everywhere, and even Blake, an anti-establishment rebel who sleeps in tents, looks suitably dark feminine.
Here's the thing: that's not a bad thing. For what it was at the time, RWBY as the girl power fantasy that was every bit as actionized and violent as the male version tends to be was incredibly attractive as a concept. Hell, it still is.
Yang doesn't have abs, she never has, she never will, and that's okay. It doesn't take away from her. Her lack of abs isn't a problem on its own, it's not a flaw. There's no reason she should or shouldn't, they're not a required feature for someone at her tier of 'anime'. It becomes a problem when you consider the idea she won't ever have them because Miles personally wouldn't find it attractive, but that's still another story than what Yang actually was concepted as and made it into Poser as.
I once saw someone refer to Adam Taurus' (who definitely suffered under RT) original design as 'the most bisexual-looking character in the show' and gurl, that was a man in a suit, slacks, and loafers--calm down. It was far and away less lgbt-looking than the Grimmjow model he was actually sculpted from. Same energy as when I see kpop fans referring to a man's look as "cunty" and it's just a dude in a tank top.
Sometimes this happens with race, too. I see people claiming RT whitewashed the fuck out of Sun Wukong when the switch to Maya came, and then in the two screenshots provided he looks exactly the same.
RWBY as characters lost a lot when Rooster Teeth started changing their appearances, but qu**rness wasn't one of them, because the truth is that RWBY has just never been a very qu**r show. It was barely feminist in 2013, and even in its glory days, it was still pretty straight and cis and within cultural trends. It doesn't make sense to turn classic RWBY into something it wasn't just to exhaustively mourn what you were robbed of, especially when in truth quite a lot of these people weren't around then to get robbed in the first place.

tbh noise preference should be more than "loud/quiet"
I not only agree with the statement said by this person, I agree with the principle by which they are stating it. It used to be that I would listen to specific vaporwave albums when I would go to bed, and specific vaporwave albums when I would do other things. When I worked late at night, I had a specific three album set of vaporwave Ambience that gave texture to the night and made it feel less monotonous, even in it's monotony. Being able to hear the Animal Crossing soundtrack on some days, and the Oppenheimer soundtrack on other days, influences not just my mood, but my behavior, my persona, and how I am feeling.
There is a reason I make certain foods in certain dishes, and other Foods in other dishes. There is a reason I like cooking certain ways, and not other ways, and it is because the preference of the sound, the texture, the process, is very calming to me. I will take a taquito from any location, gas station, microwave, and oven included, but I will not stand for a half-assed quesadilla made poorly or tacos that taste like shit from a place of supposed quality.
The small minutia of life, the tiny things that exist in this world that give us pleasure and pleasantry, the voices of the objects we use and the substances We Exist Within, deserve to be heard and deserve to be treasured, and I will not stand for the idea that they shouldn't be or that those who are fascinated by this minutiae are in some capacity ludicrous. They're not ludicrous.
If you need any kind of demonstration of this principle, look no further than the games animal crossing, Katamari damacy, and the cartoons Camp Lazlo and chowder. Each animal in Animal Crossing has a different house, style, greeting, sounds, and affects that make them into an archetypical character which we can imprint upon, and which we can bond with and whom forms a continuous, ever-changing relationship with the player that can eventually terminate or be rekindled, each level and setup in Katamari textures the level, and if you change the backing track used, the vibe of the level changes, and this is best exemplified in the animal collection and underwater collection levels, in which the backing tracks include an animal barking rendition of the Katamari theme and a song called Houston which, for lack of a better way of describing it, sounds like an underwater level song. In Camp Lazlo, the Aesthetics of the Town versus the camp versus the different cabins versus the characters and their Aesthetics and behaviors give us a general Vibe of each character and idea, one which is lost if these characters were then taken out of their original contexts, and put onto character models like in fortnite, or in massive corporate crossovers, where there is just a constant slurry of references with no heart or substance or means to make it fit the character and who they are. In chowder, every single character in the main cast and even many of the guest cast have their own unique texture and color to go along with their unique silhouettes. This texture gives a Vibe or a style of the character which transcends who they are, and this does go so far as to the way they talk, the sound effects they use for some of the characters, and even how some of those characters speak.
The difference between a good podcast or a bad podcast in a lot of people's eyes is the presence or absence of certain audio textures. if a podcast is supposed to take place in random coffee shops around a city, as in the case of the Anarchy me anything/anma, podcast produced by the now defunct company Rooster Teeth, it would make sense for the audio texture to have some happenstance sound that would add to the experience of what the podcasts intent was. But if the podcasts intent was a dramatic reading of a story, the sound of a fucking truck in the background, with no sufficient explanation or excuse, would destroy the entire concept of the podcast.
The Sonic texture of different types of music allows you to understand what kind of music you're listening to without actually having to say the name of the music in the introduction. There is a difference, for example, between jazz and funk and Blues, all of which is derived from The Inspirations behind those musical stylings, African American Musical traditions. That difference is found in the texture of the music, how different things are played, what instruments are prioritized and deprioritized, and what acceptable sounds there are within the tracks.
Good movie sound design is clear when it needs to be an unclear when it isn't, it balances the music with the sound effects, and it understands when either need to be prioritized over the other. I saw the TV glow for example wants you to know the difference between what is on the tv, and what isn't on the tv, and then when it wants you to question those things, the sounds from both the television and the supposed real world blend together, in tandem with the effects used on the screen.
The motif of the Imperial march, Godzilla's march, and the Top Gun theme are supposed to characterize militarism and warfare as villainous, monstrous, or glorified in each respect, based upon how they sound. The Imperial March sounds repetitive, constrained, and militant, Godzilla's March seems forceful, escalatory, and terrifying with different squealing elements and sudden lurching sounds within the music, and the Top Gun theme is meant to make planes on a screen go from interesting looking vehicles shot in fantastical ways, into the coolest goddamn thing you can ever see, resulting in military recruitment going up substantially. A major part of the characterization of something is the texture of its sound.
The Sonic texture of Godzilla's March, to be very intimate, has squealing trumpets, heavy drums, urgent and shaky violins, all of which create this air of violence carried in Godzilla's movie. The thumping repetition of the Imperial march, the heavy drums, the low notes, the trumpets used for the Imperial fanfare, all create a sense of uneasy and overbearing militarism, one which is villainous, ominous, and monstrous, and even machine like to help illustrate the Monstrous machine that is the Imperial government. The Top Gun theme uses fucking electric guitars and Kenny Loggins and popular music motifs to make the Navy and the Air Force seem popular and not, as they should be seen, a bloated machination made by hellish monsters for the express intent and purpose of perpetuating war in infinity.
Open concept houses, as helpful or as wonderful as many people think they can be, are not to my preference, and I would much rather have a house that has designated rooms for designated things. The bathrooms Sonic texture should be distinct from the kitchens, as should the coloration, as should the objects in there. Meanwhile, the kitchen should sound like a kitchen, instead of hearing the quiet drip of different faucets, I hear the hum of the refrigerator, the quiet muscle drop of new ice being produced by the ice maker, and I should hear the role of the drawers. In the living room, I should be able to hear whatever is in there, the soft squish of the cushions, the noise of the television, the noise of the radio, the clicking on and off of lamps, and if it has one, a fireplace crackling.
Even in open concept houses, open concept spaces, and spaces where these things blur together, those distinctions need to be obvious and easily made, because the idea of Harmony in a space should not transcend people's ability to live in it. A space should feel lived in, not industrialized.
What is designated to be the bathroom should be distinctly colored, and distinctly placed from what is the living area, this is not just sanitary, this is a necessity. Even when making tiny, unlivable rooms, as demonstrated by the infamous "galvanized square steel" tiktok videos, the bed looks different, and is made distinct from, the bathroom areas, the kitchen areas, even when they blend together, they are made to be distinct and easily separated from each other, and to have different sounds or substances. Just because it contains the necessities, does not mean it is something that people can live in necessarily, life is not based on necessity alone, it is based upon livability, breathability, comfort, ease, and preference. This is why Living Spaces are diverse, this is why even in spaces that are standardized, or made to be equitable, people add their own stylistic and human differences, because living spaces can never be fully accommodated in terms of pure pragmatic necessity, but must be accommodated in terms of cultural or human preference as well, because humans are not purely pragmatic beings, they are feeling, thinking, illogical beings that need things to be different and to feel different in order to feel individually unique and valued.
The concept of necessity should not supersede the concept of comfort, and instead should work in tandem with it.

I haven't listened to many podcasts but this seems fun.
RT Podcast/the Drunktank
The Adventure Zone
Khoshekh
Malevolent
Welcome to Night Vale
I think Martin would get along with Carlos and Oskar. They all seem chill, at least at first.
So many people would hate Jon! Like it's fun to picture him meeting Cecil and Arthur, because eye motif but he can be such a prick. And Cecil would just call him rude to his face and Arthur might even fight him, given his feelings on cults and monsters. Still love him though.
Early first season of TMA I couldn't tell Elias and Tim's voice apart for some reason. Got easier as time went on though.
Malevolent. Arthur literally whimpers and does the whole ragged breathing so often.
The Magnus Archives, probably. I was on pain meds when I first started listening to it and I sometimes think I didn't totally absorb all of it.
In full? None. But I have relistened to certain episodes for all I've listed.
Probably Malevolent. I really like Lovecraftian horror and the fandom seems so nice.
Draw, play games, scroll tumblr, live blog, look up words the podcast men say because I've never even kinda heard them before. Really whatever my ADHD so desires.
So, so many! Like, are you asking who I love most? Because I'm not totally sure. Maybe Michael or Nikola or Martin? Hard to pick between the three. One's a big, fucked up guy and one's a fucked up clown and one just desperately needs a hug.
Kevin. He hurt the weird floating kitty!
Nikola Orsinov/Fun House by Pink, for admitted obvious reasons.
TMA. But to be fair, I'm working on a fic for that one.
Rooster Teeth Podcast, mostly due to the hindsight that so many of the people on the show were just really bad to their staff.
Canon couple? Cecil and Carlos, they're actually healthy together which I can't say for most of the others. Non-canon? Arthur and John all the way! Those two are disasters and I love that for them.
Gerry Keay! Man had the punk/goth aesthetic of my dreams! I want what that man had.
Podcast themed ask game cause I’m bored!
1.) what’s the first podcast you listened to?
2.) what’s a podcast you’ve cried over?
3.) Favorite podcast pet? (Idk if that’s worded weird but like if one of the characters has a cat or smth)
4.) what podcast has the best soundtrack/music?
5.) what’s a podcast that you really like but find it kinda hard to follow the plot?
6.) what characters from different podcasts do you think would be friends?
7.) what characters from different podcasts do you think would hate each other?
8.) what’s a podcast where you mix up the characters voices?
9.) what’s a podcast that you know the characters so well you can recognize their breathing?
10.) what’s a podcast that you wish you could listen to again for the first time?
11.) what’s a podcast you’ve listened to more than once?
12.) what’s a podcast you wish more people listened to?
13.) what do you like to do while listening to a podcast?
14.) who is a podcast character that you love?
15.) who is a podcast character you can’t stand?
16.) what songs do you associate with a certain character/ podcast?
17.) what’s a podcast that you can’t stop thinking about?
18.) are their any podcasts that you regret listening to?
19.) whose your favorite podcast couple?
20.) whose a podcast character that you think would dress really cool?

we're not repeating ourselves on this. if coco stans want to desperately convince themselves that there's more to this character than the canon characterization of her being an ugly racist who insults people & leers at women, all while her name & entire aesthetic down to the weapon is based on a nazi pardoned for her warcrimes due to antisemitism ingrained in society, enjoy your delusions.
we've given the evidence, shown proof of coco chanel & coco's design & rooster teeth's previous acts of violent antisemitism. i'm not wasting the rest of my night arguing with nazi meatriders because the nazi happens to be a racist dyke when i could be writing porn. it's getting deleted, yell your apologism to the wind goyim ✨

I'm gonna be real with y'all, after I got past the brainmelting factor of seeing the old RWBY looks up against the new RWBY looks so the latter could tell the older models that they so totally aren't shoddily written and are exactly who they need to be (yeah yeah whatever Miles), it kinda hurt just looking at them side by side.
It didn't really hit the way it was supposed to because it was the Maya models with the late RWBY colors and hues in the early RWBY outfits. But then again I suppose seeing the old Yang next to the new Yang would've just fucked too much. She'd have eaten new Yang alive.
But still. Just seeing the old aesthetics, the old looks, before hair looked like playdough, before zippers were everywhere and before Rooster Teeth was so afraid of blacks they wouldn't even let Blake wear them anymore.
