I swear I didn’t go to a Nordic country; this is the tranquile and often overlooked Roosevelt Island. This is the second time I’m on it in exactly 20 years! • This island is right in the middle of the East River sandwiched between Manhattan and Queens. • There’s only one train stop and there’s a red bus that goes around the island for free. It’s its own little world there with great city views.
