Hugo de Riva + Fen'Harel's dagger

Hugo was never looking to lead a team.

When he wound up following Varric on this wild chase after Solas, he was simply hoping to get the job done, finish the contract for Viago and hopefully get permission to go back home.

Like most Crows Hugo is used to working alone, keeping suppliers and contacts at an arms length, being someone others look to for assurance and answers was a steep learning curve.

rook & my veilguard

in accordance with hava dragon age tradition, i've made a supporting cast for veilguard, all in one worldstate.

hugo (centre) is my canon rook. accompanying him from each faction are these characters here, who will have supporting roles to play. alba is a carry over from da2 - she is fenris' adopted daughter, and a somniari. in my notes pre-veilguard, she was set to play a big part in hawke's rescue from the fade.

i don't have a veil jumper to include yet, but i'm sure one will materialize down the line!

Hugo 'Rook' de Riva + Treviso

story spoilers below and me yapping about mr. Hugo

Hugo has been with the Antivan Crows since about 7-8 years old.

He was taught for a short while by the previous Heir, but most of his 'education' came from elder Crows of house de Riva.

Much to Viago's disappointment he's not very interested in poisons beyond those that can be used to coat weapons. He has a lot more antidotes than poisons at hand most of the time.

Ceritified yapper, words often do not go through his brain or any filter before escaping his mouth.

He's got a great eye for details however, whether it's art, mannerisms or armor weaknesses he'll notice.

Feels a certain level of shame and guilt over screwing up the Crow operation while saving slaves from the Antaam. Mostly about disappointing Viago and making de Riva look disorganized.

Saved Treviso, there was little to no question in his mind about it. He's a bit selfish.

Developed an expensive taste for both coffee and wine. Too much time with Viago.

Gonna give answers for Hugo de Riva (because he's the current Rook I'm playing) and for Alectris (who is not a Rook, but I love her anyway)

🌼 If someone was to ask Spite what Rook smells like, what would he say?

Hugo: Despite his gear being in pristine condition these days, Hugo somehow always smells like rust according to Spite, rust and salt water. Hugo suspects it might be some leftovers of his childhood spent diving for pearls in docks of Rialto. Back then he didn't have much but an old pairing knife that despite his best efforts was always rusty and barely sharp enough to do it's job.

Alectris: Alectris smells like hot coals and nutmeg and sand on the beach right after rain. She insists she has no clue where she got any of these ideas, but truth is she just hates how it all makes sense. She might see herself as a soldier first and mage second but fire has always been her go to type of magic, nutmeg might as well be the only thing that Seheron has not soured for her and the smell of the beach after rain is the first sensation that comes to her mind when she thinks of that one time she nearly died.

🍀 Has Rook had any near-death experiences? What went through their mind during what they thought was going to be their final moments?

Hugo: As a Crow Hugo has a very skewed idea about what experiences count as "near-death" but when he was a freshly promoted full-fledged Crow he got a contract on a sommelier. He ended up drinking his own poison to trick the mark into believing the wine is safe. He did drink an antidote before hand but much to Viago's disappointment poisons were never his strong suit and he nearly offs himself as well. His thoughts at the time? "Maker, if Viago hears about it he'll never let it go."

Alectris: Alectris has brushed with death a couple of times mostly during her time on Seheron, but the closest call she had was during a Qunari ambush including a Saarebas. Her last thoughts at that time were about her team and if any of them made it alive (a few did!).

Hugo de Riva, Rogue, mainly Purple personality, on a journey to pet all the cats and dogs he can. Way too young for any of this. Proud to be a Crow.

If sarcasm could kill you'd be my best assassin, said Viago at least 5000 times since Hugo got promoted to full Crow.

He called Teia "Mom" once, swears it was on a bet. Did not eat for a good week afterwards worried that Viago will poison him.

Very much dislikes snakes. Viago makes him take care of Emil the Addler and his other snakes anyway whenever he's away.
