Angsty fic idea:

when Armand is first turned, Marius sticks his own arm into the sunlight to show that the sun will hurt vampires. B/c Marius is so old there is only a bit of smoke coming off his arm, but Armand understands it will hurt him far worse. Years later, he first sees what happens when a young vampire like him goes into the sun- the short lived screams and a body collapsing into ash.

Centuries go by, and then comes a day when he loses track of time. the first rays of sunrise hit his arm through an open window and... nothing. Not even a bit of smoke. It doesn't make any sense. he's only 200 odd years old. Why doesnt he burst into burn like the others? He thinks back realising he has never once checked himself to see if the sun would hurt him.

He could have left. He could have up and left Marius or the Parisian coven at any point. Could leave all his duty and responsibilities behind.

But he didnt. And he still wont. He's a coward stuck in a prison made of twigs, afraid of a life outside of this space he's been put in- outside the picture he's been painted into. So he keeps quiet about being a daywalker. Tries not to think too much about it and adds it to his ever growing collection of secrets and carries on with existence.

It's ace week and SGB has a variety of aspec characters, so I figured it's a good time for a new promo post!

This is an AroAce!Matsukawa centric coming of age story that focuses on the following things:

-having a father with high expectations and very narrow minded ideals

-trying and repeatedly failing to live up to those expectations despite a great deal of effort

-eventually realizing it was never possible to live up to those expectations

-the ways people change (or refuse to change) over the course of their lives

-how relationships evolve when feelings and circumstances become more complex

-to whom loyalty is owed and at what cost

-not understanding what the big deal is with romance and sex, but also thinking those things are unavoidable because everyone makes it seem like that

-finding people who are similar, understanding, and supportive

-a long journey of self-discovery and (eventual) self-acceptance

Generally speaking, it has fluff, light-hearted events, occasional silliness, emotional moments (of both the pleasant and unpleasant variety), humor, and angst.

It's also, and I cannot stress this enough, a slow burn. So slow. So very slow. As of right now it's 383k words, and it's around halfway done. That kind of slow.

So yeah, give it a look, let it draw you in.

AND ANOTHER THING about hot sith girl summer, i've managed to write myself into addressing a common issue in the codywan fandom, but in a weird way: that thing where fandom sometimes treats cody like he's only there to babysit obi-wan and his every single thought and action revolves around obi-wan

like, you know who'd also think of cody as existing only in relation to obi-wan, as a kind of appendage of obi-wan? vader. it's probably the only reason he keeps cody alive after cody challenges him between chapter one and two. as bait to draw obi-wan out of hiding, and just to fuck with someone obi-wan held dear, to cause him pain. and wouldn't it be interesting if cody noticed this and started chafing at it, even as he also feels (irrational) guilt over what he did during order 66. and even when he escapes vader and takes up with maul, he expects the exact same treatment: to be treated as a thing that obi-wan owned, and that can now be used as a tool to exact revenge on obi-wan (but he and maul are actually going to have a rapport, weird and fucked up as that's going to be in its own right. but at least it will be true, equal-level codependence). so he's just like "oh it's gonna be the same humiliating dehumanizing shit again but at least i'm no longer in the empire... so i'll take it 🙄" (but then it is actually different, eventually, as maul begins to see the merit of cody as simply cody)

Is it a hc or did they say that he didn't? Because now that i think about it chuuya said he celebrated the same night when dazai left the mafia But dazai went missing a few times before so how would everyone immediately know he left the port mafia? Did he leave a note in Mori's Office or something? xd I really wish we knew how that night went down. Was he just casually telling everyone that whole day that he was leaving?

Imagine what everyone's reactions to that would've been lmao

Would people have taken it seriously? Would the subordinates have laughed nervously because they weren't able to tell if he was joking or not?

One thing I am discovering about animatics, and visual flow in video form, is the subtle handling of point of view and the way it guides empathy.

You don't have access to a character's inner thoughts, but you can temporarily mimick the world they perceive, and also smoothly transition from focusing on one character to the next with stuff like camera movement, following one character's eyesight to align ourselves to their perspective, blending two perspectives until only one of them remains and takes full control... there's so much subtext in narrowing or widening a visual thing's PoV through camera placement, and I know it's just. Normal, this is what visual mediums are about, but I'm discovering this and I'm very very happy with this new way of pushing obscene amounts of subtext onto everything I touch <3
