The Nest : During & After
I was never rich. Not when I left the nest. Don’t dare to even label me as middle class. Not after I left the nest. I left the nest c. 1996. All the same I lived as though life was grand. Because, it, in point of fact, was indeed. This hole in the wall could never match anywhere of the few little places I lived in Portland [Oregon]. The first pad, my room was a walk through my room room. The next place, I lived with the Irvington Market, Newman’s Fish Sushi Chef, Tan. And more all the way to Eugene. But then, I stayed in Italy for a year and my Grand Life, almost suddenly, disappeared. Still good. Just something in the air culminating an eerie waft of winds.
But, the back area of this house, with all its’ wounds, has charm. If only we could find the means to sturdily patch up the roofing. It would ease my conscience. If only I could afford a washer and dryer. It would ease my pocket. Could I, soon? And a gas stove with oven, automatic bread baker, yogurt maker, walk in freezer – for all the too hot girls who still haven’t kissed me…
This room is pretty f-ing awesome. Can’t wait to pull my first bird in over two years ~ can ya dig ~ for a minute or a night… it’s definitely not a run a the mill everyday kind a girl who’ll feel the charm, here. She’s definitely gonna have to be special. I know, if she’s not a slut, she’ll hate it.

Home Again, Home Again
We're back in our own digs once again, back to a bed that's comfortable and pillows that actually support our heads.
Granted it was nice being housed apart from the rest of Nancy's family, given the pets and the clutter and the noise from the ongoing repairs to the roof of the dome in which the live.
But there were a few minor inconveniences to the guest cottage that we will not miss now that we are home where (almost) everything is comfortable.
What we will miss is the Oregon weather. After the initial heat and smoke from numerous fires in the area, the weather finally turned more seasonal and there were cool nights and mild days and the occasional sprinkles.
With the use of Nancy's granddaughter's car, I got out to a few more recovery meetings, and Nancy and I did a little wandering about Eugene one afternoon, stumbling across a rose garden near the Willamette River.
The flights home were without problems, and the change in Phoenix could not have been more easy, given that we came in from Eugene at Gate A4 and departed for Tucson from Gate A6. Plus our luggage made it from one plane to the other on time.
After dropping off our luggage and greeting our cats, we turned right around and went to dinner at our local Mexican food spot. The enchilada plate I normally consume entirely was too much for me, a measure of how small our meals have been over the past three weeks. Half of it came home in a box.
Of course we will be kicking off today with plenty of chores, including refilling our water bottles, doing a bit of grocery shopping, and helping out at church with the counting and bread ministry.
Tucson's weather, unfortunately, returns to extreme over the next week or so, with the temperatures topping out during the coming weekend over 105º. At least we have good air conditioning and a comfortable bed.

Coincidences- Aaron Hotchner Imagine
Pairing: Aaron Hotchner x Reader; SVU crossover (kinda)
Word Count: 1.3k
WARNINGS: Basic mentions of death, murder, the likes. Nothing graphic!
A/N: This is just something I’ve been thinking about recently, much like Hotch and his dreamy eyes. It’s a crossover with SVU in theory, but honestly you don’t need to watch the show to read. Let me know if I should make a part two or not!! I love your feedback 💗
You had been working with the BAU team for over a year now. Even within that short period of time, you had grown to love them like family. They reminded you of the slightly-more functional version of the team you left behind in New York.
When you left New York, you made a promise to your friends and family that you would make an effort to take better care of your mental health. Now that’s a little challenging when you’re catching serial killers on a daily basis. Although, these cases tended to have a more satisfying conclusion than the ones you worked on with Special Victims Unit. Neither were ideal, of course.
Garcia had just announced that there was a case, summoning you all to the conference room. You straggled behind the rest of the group, finishing up an email that needed to be sent. You weren’t the only one falling behind the pack, though.
You had noticed that Hotch was in no particular rush to get to the conference room. He looked spaced out, as if his mind was in another place. Aaron Hotchner was no easy man to read, so for you to pick up on his behavior, he must really be distracted.
“After you,” you said, meeting Hotch at the door. He gave you a simply nod and take his seat.
Garcia dispersed the case files and presented what information was available. Three women from Eugene, Oregon had been killed in their homes, while their significant others had been on business trips.
“That can’t be a coincidence,” Morgan remarked.
“There’s no such thing as coincidences. Wheels up in 30,” Hotch sternly spoke, rising from his chair and leaving the room in a hurry.
You looked at Rossi for an explanation. While you prided yourself on being able to communicate openly with your boss, nobody could read Hotch like Rossi.
“It’s been five years since Haley passed.”
“Oh, I didn’t know.”
“Well, he’s not one to share. Take it easy on him this week. No heroics,” Rossi lectured, wagging his finger at you, as had been known to take a few risks.
“I can’t believe you’re saying this to me when Derek is right outside.”
The plane ride to Eugene was pretty typical. Although, you found your eyes fixed on Hotch. You couldn’t help but to sympathize with his pain. It was never easy to lose a loved one, let alone your significant other.
As the case progressed, you recognized the unsub’s patterns and habits. He was a predatory stalker; you just needed to lure him out. Rossi proposed that Prentiss and Morgan play husband and wife for a day or two, just to see if he would attempt to break in.
Reid stayed behind, narrowing down the suspect list, while you, Hotch, Rossi, and JJ staked out the place. You had been partnered with Hotch, which was a relatively common occurrence. There was chemistry between the two of you, a natural bond that with undiscovered origins. You were calm, collected, and logical much like Hotch. You were a little more adventurous, but nowhere near the same level as the rest of the team.
The car was silent, except for the sound of rain pattering against the roof. You were in the driver’s seat, watching the house to see if there was any sign of the unsub. Hotch sat beside you, keeping an eye on the surroundings, a tense grip on his binoculars. One of you would reach for coffee, while the other would take a deep breath and regroup. You repeated this cycle for what felt like an eternity.
At one point you noticed Hotch staring at his phone. You tried to catch a glimpse of what he was looking at without obviously violating his privacy. Finally, you decided it was time to break the silence.
“How are you holding up?”
“I could use another cup of coffee,” he said, tucking is phone back into his suit pocket.
“No, that’s not what I meant. Rossi told me what this week means to you. How are you holding up in that regard?”
He remained silent, staring out at the rainy street. He couldn’t produce an answer no matter how he tried.
“Wanna hear my sob story?” You asked, ready to tell him your biggest secret since joining the BAU.
He simply nodded.
“I lost my fiancé two years ago. Shot in the line of duty. It was his last day before transferring units. A month before our wedding.”
You took a deep breath, mentally preparing to continue with the story. Hotch was quiet, allowing you to finish.
“His name was Mike. Sergeant Mike Dodds,” you mused, “he was the sweetest guy, a big softie, but God, did he know how to play the bad guy. He transferred to SVU because his father wanted him to. Everyone hated him, but I saw something in him. There was this light in his eyes, this fire. It’s what I miss most about him.”
You didn’t realize that you had a tear streaming down your cheek, until Hotch offered you a tissue. You wiped your tears, cursing yourself for being so dramatic. Hotch just reached over and placed his hand on yours, gently reassuring you that he was there.
“I’d tell you it gets easier, but honestly? It just gets...different. You learned to live without them, but those feelings are still there,” his voice was barely audible.
“I came to terms with it a long time ago. He wouldn’t want me wallowing in pity all of the time; he would want me to have a fresh start. Date new people, move to another city, take all the risks- within reason- that I never took before.” Now the rain had captivated you. “I always joked that we should have leave Manhattan and get a big log cabin in the Pacific Northwest. Have a bunch of dogs, maybe a boat, and live amongst the wilderness.” You wiped another tear from your rosy cheek, letting out a giggle, “But instead, I chose to move to humid D.C. and catch serial killers for a living.”
Hotch laughed, taking a sip of his cold coffee. You swore you saw a tear slid down his cheek as well, but you didn’t mention anything. Instead, you two just laughed cathartically for a moment. In that moment, you had forgotten all the pain you suffered before coming to the BAU. There was plenty in your life worth sticking around for. You liked to think Hotch felt the same.
“Y/N,” he broke the laughter, “thank you. Thank you for always bringing your genuine self to every situation, for everything you do for this team...for everything you do for me.”
“It’s a coincidence that we found each other, almost like the universe brought us together.”
“There is no such thing as coincidences,” he replied, shifting in his seat.
You were facing each other now. He had beautiful, brown eyes, you noticed. Even when they were glossy from crying, they were still beautiful. You recognized a light his eyes, one you thought was stolen from you two years ago. For the first time, you saw Hotch as someone other than your stoic boss who needed solved like a puzzle. You saw him as Aaron. Vulnerable, broken, and empathetic Aaron.
If Rossi hadn’t ruined the moment with a radio call, saying they had caught the unsub, then you swore you could’ve kissed him. Your heart was beating out of your chest. You brushed it off as heightened emotions, but you couldn’t shake the feeling. What if the universe did put you and Aaron together? What if it was a sign that you were meant to be each other’s fresh starts?

Last time I dreamt, I knew I was dreaming They knew that I knew, so I hid in the ceiling In red robes they flew and I knew they would see me So I crawled to the roof, and dropped to the clearing Back to the forest from whence I came Been here before I had cut a man down Don't know why, nor what was his name But here he was now just a standing around Sorry I killed you Soon I'll awake And you'll live for never And I'll fill a grave I found me a love and thought once I got her I'd sleep like a bug in a medice bottle When I lay in bed I'm a fish out of water Last time I dreamt I knew I was dreaming They knew that I knew this insidious feeling Tried to stay cool while my mind was unpeeling Am I so unwelcome or feed my own demons Ran back to the forest from whence I came Standing before me was he who Id slain Sorry I killed you, but we gotta run What's chasing behind me is worse than my gun He smiled and settled in passenger side Looked in the mirror saw what was behind Two red eyes, two broken wings A gray cracked hide and two dirty fangs Drove back to the city where I would awake No they'd never get me no I got away #dreams #poetry #lyrics #originalpoetry #art #mixedmedia #mixedmediaart #drawing #collage #painting #acab #allcopsarebad #allcopsarebastards #acab2020 #police #cops #portrait #wolf #wolves #polaroid #acrylic (at Eugene, Oregon) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBEi-_kJ1VC/?igshid=1funfhfzv64rs

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP: INSIGHT OF SOCIAL MEDIA AND ELECTION PROCESS
Digital citizenship may be defined as carrying out appropriate and responsible behaviour whilst using generation. It encompasses digital literacy, ethics, etiquette, on-line protection, norms, rights, tradition and more. A digital citizen is one that is aware of what is proper and incorrect, well-known shows shrewd technology conduct, and makes proper selections when using era.
Nowadays individuals everywhere throughout the planet communicate utilizing different advancements. This collaboration has made a computerized society that bears its residents open doors for instruction, business, diversion, and social association.
Social media is a space for everyone where they can interact/express their thoughts and experiences- in order to discuss a particular post; they use hashtags which help them to put all the information regarding a topic in one place, kind of like family under one roof. Just like #AUSPOL. Under this hashtag we have all the information regarding Australian Politics. "It is part of the political furniture in Australia," commented Axel Bruns, a professor of media and communication at the Queensland University of Technology (Bogle, 2016).
A similar event with the American election had taken place where politicians had used social media platforms to interact with civilians who were digital citizens. The campaign was monitored very closely by the digital citizens which helped the politician share their agenda and get feedback through it big companies such as Google, Twitter, Facebook etc. Social media companies use these opportunities to make themselves look good in terms of doing public goods. This kind of information sharing was gathered so the study of platform was looked into, later termed as platformization; chosen to convey a particular sense of meaning.

Mr Sparklepuff Feline Obituary 5.1.2020/Abridged
Mr Puffs 4-2002- 5-1-2020
by Michael Bench
Mr Puffs was an excellent friend and adventurous hiker. He loved to be outdoors. A ferocious mouser ; he did an arc'ing jump on mice and chipmunks from 2 clumps of brush away. The porch frankly stank from all his gifts. An amazing climber and very fast sprinter crossing a square acre in about 3.5sec. Some would ask why he was named as such and close friends know the whole story. A primary point was so people had a good vibe about him and would let him be. In the past two years he had cancer of the face that spread. He had been treated with surgery to remove the tumor. At a shade over 18yo, he set to rest as every night he was shivvering in normal home temp and couldn't keep weight on; refusing to leave the couch; hating being put in pet clothes/infant flannel.
2017-2020 were tough years for him adjusting to a new stray friend we “adopted” from the wild. They were startingn to get along. It played into the stress.I feel bad about this. it split us up somewhat. My younger cat was more forceful about claiming me. It weighs on me; Frankly it seemed like a few rape attempts also that difficulted the social cue of ‘normal cat spooning”.. Mr Puffs was able to get out on a van ride of Fogelsville,PA about three months ago. He also gave some love to his plush hedgehog toy. He gave it a consensual drilling every once a while or daily.
What you should know about Mr Puffs:
:My grilling deputy and trout inspector
:Loved to play the mysterious thing under blanket or newspaper game
:Love to play the mysterious tapping fingers under the many basement stairs game
:Fine taste in music and loved being my karaoke fan. Love you buddy. Not very keen on Tv after Keenan Michael Keys left Animal Planet's morning show.
:Enjoyed less usual faire like potatoes and adored bbq chicken pizza; he could handle medium wings. He WAS WARNED each time and kept him away from it till it was obvious he wanted it. Honey ham, turkey, .. and salami**. Mind you, he has never been overweight and was complimented by his first vet for muscle tone. It's his compliment to own.
:Enjoyed jumping apartment building gaps while in town: we had to rough it for a month in a storage facility after an unexpected eviction.. which we then would go for walks 1a-3a to get his exercise and water the landscape mulch at 11th street Fred Meyers. There's a little marsh back behind the store that became our little daytime haven.
:His Hiking career started in Eugene, OR. We would go night walking ,w/o a leash and whenever someone was coming he would detour off the sidewalk and into the nearest house’s bushes.. This was optimal because he would get back on the lit sidewalk and learn to keep course. This advanced to 5-7 mile hikes from U Oregon campus to Hendrix park and back. One trip such trip he was panting so he didn’t really want to run away anywhere or into traffic fortunately.. The sun had come out of the cloud cover and heated things up above the usual. We stopped at an icecream place on the way back on the edge of campus: Agate and 19th. Even though he was tired, he was a smart and collected guy. so he slinked to the back of the shop till I came back out..It was like escorting the supermodel of manly cats. It was at this time I knew leashes or more distant locations were necessary.
:While we were driving back to Pennsylvania, he decided to have a playfrenzy on the dashboard while I was in heavy traffic nearabouts of Nebraska/Rushmore on the interstate.
:Short story : Since he now had room in the yard to runaround Puffs tested his speed and momentum to get up tree trunks. Our front yard had a medium sized maple oak something. Mr Puffs ran up the tree and alarmed a family of nesting doves. The doves and Mr Puffs seemed to flee the tree foilage each in horizontal directions at about 8ft off the ground.
:Other than a shoulder injury from a fight of somesort, he was very durable. His parent's owners had coined him 'Jaco” after the famous bass player.. A green -eyed Russian Blue tuxedo, angular white paws. with little white hairs across his coat. At times I also referred to him as “Cactus Jack”. Massive front incisors like a miniature sabertooth. I pitied the rabbits who he caught which were still squealing.
:Another Short Story. I coaxed my mom to live a little and put that front addition on the house she always wanted. She got an enclosed porch. Theres an open porch on the back of the house also. When the framing was done.. I went out to the backyard to enjoy the night sky, I heard nothing. When I turned around I had two bright eyes scaring me to the ground. From 9ft, the top of the roof porch he looked at me Apparently Puffs had climbed the 8ft of framing from the work table, crossed the rafters, crossed the whole house roof and decided to voyeur me on the other side of the house. I was very glad he didn't tempt the electric lines whose pole he had tried to climb other days.Stressing moments on me as well.
:Puffs became a pro at taking baths since 2017, and getting nails trimmed at the same time. The trim helped him jump (getting pad purchase) and helped the furniture too.
:Another quick story. Cats can swim. I took him to go swimming in the creek and that went pretty good the first time. (Must always be on leash. And probably use partially inflated swimmy muscle). He was really comfortable in the water if it was shallow(2.5ft). The problem with the creek is its near a road so don't be near roads even with the leash on. He was swimming a good crawl in about 4ft. A fish mustve brushed his foot because he panicked and started jumping out of the water like a bass on a hook. I literally had to swing him in the air (with leash) and onto the shore into some leaves and grass. There's some fault in not being close enough to him to pick him up out of the water directly. He swam pretty good and at range. To ease that trauma.. (nearly heart attack probably; that went sour) , I let him calm down. At a much shallower area no taller than his knees(5-6”) I set him into the stream without much resentment and just petted him to get him calm. (He wasn't a lap cat before that either.) At that point the swimming got shuttered for downhill walks and other casual stuff.
: On similar climbing points.. even till about 2015, he liked to jump the gap from the upright piano top (4ft) to the top of the entertainment center (7.5 ft) plus the hallway gap of 3.5 ft and he was really solid at it. Would stay up there for a while and then jump down onto the sofa table (3 ft tall).. He was always calculating a new feat. When that one item stopped being in his wheelhouse it was clear he was getting bothered/ annoyed and the stress of a cat territory issue wore him down.
If you were to be near him, you'd end up watching him. This statue of a male cat with really long tail. Not lemur-long but really long.. a gray panther. And, maybe you'd try to pet him since he looked inviting. Yet, you wouldn't get much petting done. He'd probably tolerate two brushes and then give your hand a carving with his claws, hiss at you and find a new place to observe the room, That said, he would cruise the neighborhood looking which apartment I might've visited, slink in and check out how other people decorated. A very dignified personality, sometimes to the point of indignant. He was a cat you'd want to clone over and over because he was just that cool on himself. Cloning him was on the slate too until those type of businesses were closed with political force.. He actually inspired a jazz song (currently in midi form) that I’ve yet to record. I was tore up about his first cancer surgery so I started writing. Hope that will be out soon enuff. I hope this can help you appreciate Mr Puffs. He was buried at a spot he chose. It was nearby a set of brush he would choose to hide in hours near the middle of hikes.
.. he loved to hide. Back in Oregon I'd take him in the van with my mentally handicapped clients. He'd be set loose to get his relaxation in. By the time it was time to leave. he wanted to stay. He hid in bushes and culverts. I learned very quickly that such outings had to be local or I'd be driving back hours to go get him at night or worse. Once I knew that, we'd take rides on the bus to the edges of the bus line and just chill on hills overlooking boating lakes. Fern Ridge Reservoir had a nice pine overlook off Territorial hwy. He really enjoyed outings and variety. Maybe thats what kept him interested as a matter of longevity. I want to end on that. He showed me lessons in best intentions and good in the bad.. and murdering all my Egyptian spiny mice within hours of acquiring them and their replacements. Its not like I wouldn't have gotten him a feeder mouse but there were plenty stinking up the walkway as it was. I'm blessed to have spent that month sheltered in a renta-shed with him. It seems the alternative .. without having enough for a pet deposit elsewhere (that moment) was to lower my standards for the landlords daughter and by whatever 'influence' she had. 'evicted us for periodic renovations”. So, eventually we chose instead to leave and he got a brims of fieldmice, chipmunks and forest romping. I hope that was an appreciated choice. He liked city life too. Should you choose to tribute to Mr Puffs, I welcome it. He’d be the type of cat Dos Equis beer would be looking for if he actually drank it.
Hope you’re feeling better, Puffs; BFF

Southern Sludge Acolytes Midmourner Talk Roots, Drop New Sounds from Cavity Split
~Interview by Shawn Gibson~
Foreword by Billy Goate
It's been just a few years since I encountered MIDMOURNER at a show. The southern sludge band from Birmingham, Alabama was making a rare West Coast appearance and stopped in Eugene, Oregon to play an all ages venue called The Boreal (which sadly has since closed its doors). I was on hand with my trusty camcorder to capture the action and the sound turned out so well that the band issued it as a live album. For all the savagery of their music (and when you're standing right in front, just feet away, it is quite frightening, believe you me), I found the guys to be quite friendly -- reminding me of the fabled southern hospitality I missed most when I lived in the Bible Belt as a kiddo.
Since that encounter, Midmourner has been busy, most recently issuing a split with the band Cavity. Doomed & Stoned is proud to debut the song "When Knives Still Drove Conversation" from the Midmourner side of the record and, to accompany your listening, we've got an in-depth interview conducted by Shawn Gibson, who has made it something of a mission to document the unsung heroes in the underground sludge metal scene. Here, he speaks with fiery vocalist Shane Geoge and guitarist Bobbie Harris and they take an unexpected turn into the history of the punk scene in the southern states. A fascinating conversation in deed. Enjoy it while you soak in Midmourner's new track, "When Knives Still Drove Conversation."
Give ear...
An Interivew with Midmourner
Shane: Have you got a punk background? Because we do.
The first shows I went to were punk and hardcore shows in high school. That would be early to mid-nineties.
Shane: Beautiful, beautiful.
In school I listened to The Clash, Sex Pistols, The Exploited, Charged, G.B.H...
Shane: Oh, my god!
Misfits, Minor Threat, Day Glo Abortions. I told Billy Goate I love sludge and heavier doom just because it's some of the fucking heaviest styles of music.
Shane: I'm glad you can appreciate it. That's the thing, is people classify us as doom. All of us come from punk backgrounds. I think we hit our limit. Punks discovering metal. We add the heavy element to it. You've got to have the punk background, man. That's what differentiates between doom and sludge. I think that's why I gravitated towards sludge. It still has that "fuck you!" attitude. There is a lot of professionalism in doom that I can't subscribe to, you know?
Bobby Harris: It has a lot of punk D.I.Y vibe to it.
Shane: Exactly.
Bobby: You got old punk rockers who grew their hair long and have beards playing sludge. They dig the doom stuff. It's so metal and we are not metal. It's a little metal, more punk. We grew up in Birmingham Alabama punk scene. We'd go watch Cavity in the early nineties. I didn't know about sludge until I saw Cavity. Have you heard of ATP?
Alabama Thunder Pussy? Oh, yeah, I've seen 'em! Dude, I took my Mom to that show! She lives in Nashville, Tennessee, and wanted me to go to The Grand Ole Oprey. "No problem, mom, you have to come with me to a GWAR show." I was not going to tell her about the fluids!
Shane: Everybody must see GWAR before they die!
We were in Charleston, South Carolina. She was in town and Clutch, Alabama Thunder Pussy, and Suplecs played at the Music Farm. I said, "Mom, we got to go to this" and she did. She always jokes, "What was the name of that band we saw?" "Alabama Thunder Pussy, mom!" We laugh.
Shane: All that comes back to Kilara. Eric from ATP played drums. There was also the drummer from Avail, which was the greatest punk band that ever fucking existed, in my opinion. We went to a show, Kilara and Cavity inside a record store one night. Dude! Blew the fucking roof off the place! I don't know if your into Cavity or not?
I have heard of them. I haven't heard their music yet. I'll check em out.
Shane: You need to check em out!
Bobby: Without Cavity, I wouldn't be doing this right now. That's how much Cavity had an effect on me as a kid. That made me realize there was more beyond punk rock. It was more pissed off than punk! How can you be more pissed off than punk?
I'd say punk's pretty pissed!
Shane: Midmourner is Cavity plus Grief. That is Midmourner. That's it right there, man.
Bobby: It's a big fascination with Cavity. It's a big fascination with Grief. Cavity has that pissed off, fast, aggressive sound. Grief has that crushing heavy sound, you know? Together that's what we dig.
Shane: That is why we are tickled fucking pink knowing that next year we are going to play with Come To Grief!
Bobby: This is going to be a dream come true! I've been a fan since 'Disrupt,' man!
Shane: That's definitely a bucket list check, you know? We've got Carl, the merch guy from Come To Grief, with us.
Yeah, I talked to him when I was getting some Midmourner shirts from the table. Good guy!
Bobby: He's awesome!
Adorned in Fear and Error by Midmourner
Shane: So who is your favorite sludge band? Let's hear it!
There's a really good sludge band from Tulsa, Oklahoma I love, Senior Fellows. What's up, James!
Shane: Never heard of 'em.
Bobby: I've heard of 'em.
Shane: Good shit?
Dude go check them out on Bandcamp. 'Ecclesiastical Servitude' (2013) is my favorite album, their first. Very bitter, very dry. Heavy! I think Carl and I were talking about "No Cross and No Crown" attitude and ethos. One of their slogans is "Religion Mandates Oppression." Very pissed off!
Shane: I could see that.
I would say Midmourner is some badass sludge that annihilates. Glad to see you guys live and rip it up!
Shane: What did you think of it? We are interviewing you. How about that?
Uh, wow. First time. Usually the other way around. (laughs)
Shane: We are interested in what you think. How did you get into this, ya know? That's what I'm interested in.
I got into this because I love music! I will always do this. I will always share music that I like and know other people that would love to hear the same music. Music brings us together for a small moment. We are part of a family in this musical scene and I want the world to take notice.
Shane: Beautiful thing. Beautiful thing.
It still feels like a scene for me. I caught the ass-end of tape trading, but I love it and want to keep some that going. Now it's digital. You share music all day, anywhere!
You are going back home and wrap up this tour real soon. You were at St. Vitus bar in New York, as well as Charleston and Birmingham. It is a small world! When you meet people and you go on tour next year with Come To Grief: "Holy fuck, Midmourner! I love you guys, man!" Someone will say that to you guys and they will be stoked to see you live.
Shane: We are definitely going to remember you.
The comradery. I don't think you have this much of a family with other styles of music.
Shane: People don't give a shit, man.
I love meeting people and making new connections. Meeting people that you'll keep in touch with for a long time, if not forever.
Bobby: It's getting to know people on a personal level.
Shane: That's the fun of this whole thing.
It's intimate. It's a bond that some people don't understand.
Bobby: Unfortunately, they don't. I don't get it.
Shane: Keep it small. Keep it underground.
(Billy Luttrell of Hexxus sits down and rolls a cigarette.)
Billy: I'm not interrupting, am I?
No not all. Join us.
Shane: We were talking about influences of Midmourner.
Billy: Molehill.
Shane: I don't know if you know Molehill.
No.
Shane: Sludge pioneers from 2000? '97 to 2000-something.
Billy: '98 to 2002.
Shane: That was the beginning of this. Me and Billy, who is our fill-in guy, we've been friends for thirty fucking years! We did a band called Molehill. We raised a few eyebrows. If you go back and look, you can find it on Bandcamp. Matt, who passed away, and Sonny, the guy taking pictures -- he played bass in Molehill. Now I'm 44 and still doing this shit. It's ridiculous. It's for the love of fucking music, man! That's why it pumps our nads to meet people like you, you know? Who enjoy listening to this shit!
I'm excited to listen to it, to be able to discover new heavy bands or obscure heavy bands that are definitely underground.
Bobby: Oh, we're definitely underground! (laughs)
That's why I'm glad to meet you, shake your hands, hear and feel your music live. We've been talking prior to this show about meeting up, being able to grab an interview in person, and especially grab some merch.
Shane: That is the most meaningful shit.
I've shared this show tonight for awhile now, psyched to finally be here.
Bobby: It was cool because I did know you from Facebook.
Shane: He said your name, I was like I know that fucking guy! Are you friends with Billy on there?
Uh...
Shane: Billy plays in Hexxus. Man I'm promoting all your shit today! He cut in three weeks before we were going to leave. We were going to cancel this shit! He came in and said, "Let's fucking do this, man."
Wow! Love to hear about stuff like that.
Billy: You don't have to twist my nipples to make me go on tour! (laughs) I do a lot of fill-in stuff because I'm self-employed. I can leave anytime. I do stuff in friends' bands. They hit me up two to three weeks before the tour and Bobby was like, "Can you fill in for this tour"? "Shit, bro. When do we practice? Let's go!"
I'm glad you did! I'm glad you guys trekked forward.
Shane: It's been a blast! This is the last night. I could go another six months, maybe.
Bobby: No! (laughs) You've run out of Molehill money!(laughs) He was homesick before he got to Ohio! (laughs)
Shane: I'm ready to see the wife. I'm excited! It's cool to be talking to Doomed and Stoned again, man! That's cool!
Yeah!
Shane: We were hoping that wasn't a one of a kind of thing.
Not if I have anything to do with it. I would like to keep in touch with you guys. I'd love to share or promote anything I can for you guys. Next year when your on tour with Come To Grief -- holy fuck!
Bobby: We are going to have a new album come out with Matt [Heath] on bass.
Shane: We have a CD coming out eventually. Excited! We were able to keep all bass lines and bass recordings. That was cool as shit. I am looking forward to that! Doing what the fuck ever! Try to have fun!
That's what it's all about, having fun. Life is too short.
Shane: Oh, exactly!
Live at The Boreal , Eugene, Oregon by Midmourner
You guys are from Birmingham? So Roll Tide?
Shane: Absolutely, man!
I'm from South Carolina, so I'm a Clemson fan!
Shane: Uggghhh, sorry man! (laughs)
I player hate on Alabama big time! I give em respect them even though Nick Saban is the devil (laughs)
Shane: I got to give it to you guys, you took it one year.
Renfrow sneakin in there! Whew!
Shane: Tua is the shit man! We're proud, man! It was good to almost see Clemson get beat by Syracuse again.
I was nervous as shit! They pulled it out. Lawrence had a concussion, Brice and the Tigers did it.
Shane: I'm kinda worried about LSU just a little bit.
I saw they beat Miami.
Shane: They beat Auburn, too. I think Georgia is going to fall.
On that note, I'm good with what I have from you guys. Is there anything else?
Shane: Find Midmourner on Bandcamp! Find the latest shit. We have a new CD coming out. We have a 10" split with Cavity coming up. Very fucking excited about that. They are personal heroes of ours! Somebody is putting out the new album on vinyl in Europe, so we will have a vinyl release which is fucking awesome! We are looking forward to the Coming To Grief tour. We got to find a bass player. If you know anybody that's interested. (laughs) Have the gear and the drive to do this shit and we can talk! It was fucking great talking to you, man.
Yes!
Shane: We appreciate it. We love Doomed And Stoned! Fucking cool man!
Bobby: Thanks for coming out!
Shane it was nice to meet you and finally see you guys live!
Shane: Very nice to meet you, too! It's nice to see the actual face behind the posts on Facebook. We have nothing but good things to say about Doomed And Stoned and Shawn Gibson!(laughs)
I've got nothing but nice things to say about Midmourner!
Shane: Thank you very much! It means so much more than people realize! You know, it keeps you going. Unfortunately, the post-tour depression begins now. We are going to get back out there and slug it out!
Hell, yeah!
Shane: Hopefully get back here. That's about it, appreciate the hell out of it!
Thanks again!
Shane: Thank you man! Doomed And Stoned all the way! There's Billy packing cigarettes! (laughs)

Some framing going down at Dad Brady Haus (our “new” 1974 house). The back porch as craptastic and structurally unsound. We tore it out and are in the process of doing it right. Civic Park, Eugene Stadium

Civic Park Stadium in Eugene, Oregon
Dec 15, 2021
Design: Skylab Architecture
Location: Corvallis, Oregon, USA
Rising from the ashes of the fire that destroyed the iconic Eugene Civic Stadium, the new Civic Park is designed to reinvigorate the community and initiate a next-generation era of physical education, recreation, and civic connection in Eugene and the surrounding region.
Civic Park Stadium
Comprising a new 40,000-square-foot field house, a new civic stadium, and sports fields for the community, the complex will house the first facilities for the nonprofit after-school organization KidSports, one of the instrumental organizations that are part of the park redevelopment.
The stadium redesign began with a site redevelopment vision. Located next to Amazon Creek, the project addresses critical environmental considerations, including the restoration of the site’s original watershed ecology.
Working in harmony with the existing site topography to create an intimate and holistic environment, all stormwater is now directed to a planted green space that serves double duty as a key site feature. A new pocket park along Willamette Street becomes a welcome point, providing opportunities for structured and unstructured play.
The design of the field house is inspired by the patterns inherent in human movement. Subtle gestures, including syncopated window patterns, angled walls, sloping berms, and shifts in the rib spacing of the metal siding, integrate movement into the building itself. Angled north-facing clerestories flood the six field house multipurpose courts with daylight, and will visually connect to the grandstand which will be located across the outdoor sports fields. In addition to generous interior circulation and public gathering spaces, the first floor features a mix of sports courts and areas for equipment storage, locker rooms, restrooms, and a vending alcove. The second level provides private office spaces, conference rooms, and a break room for coaches.
The project’s tight budget served as a challenge and an opportunity. The field house was built using a pre-engineered, Butler steel building system that provided a balance of structural and cost-efficiency. The simple modular structure meant the team could economically reimagine the building system to create room for moments of delight, such as the second-floor corner conference room, which dramatically projects out into the interior volume of the field house.
Where possible, materials reclaimed from the original stadium were given new life and integrated into the project, such as the wood used for indoor wood benches, the reception desk, and the reception/social counter upstairs in the office space. Other creative low-cost high-value design features include pops of color, which are integrated into the project via the metal panel cladding as well as through ordinary acoustic tile.
A second phase will feature a 2,500 seat stadium, with an office suite, skybox, press box, locker rooms, storage, and officials rooms. Concessions and vendor pavilions under the roof at the grandstand concourse level will provide spaces for fans to gather and watch the games. Together, the two phases of Civic Park will provide critical flexible community event space that honors the past while helping to create a positive and healthy future.
