Some bittersweet news:
In light of the recent loss of our Captain (the frankly irreplaceable Josef Ravenson), we have decided to bring Endeavor (our Star Trek fanfic series) to an end. Because we already had two episodes very far along in the pipeline for season 3, we went ahead and released those. But our next episode, sadly, will be our last.
It’s called “Forever Endeavor,” it deals primarily with the sudden and unexpected loss of Captain Jia, and it will be dropping later this week.
For now, please enjoy one of the best pieces of art we’ve ever gotten for this show (and that is an extremely competitive title), by the always excellent Mike Warner, aka Mike X.

These amazing pages (drawn by Fred C. Stresing, colored by Meg Casey) comprise the opening and end cutscenes of Brain Hotel Remodeled.
BHR is a modernized version of the first serious creative project I ever completed — a co-production with my old friend Mark Darin. This was back when I was trying to get my indie comic, Tales of the Odd, off the ground, and the game was set in the same universe.
Rewriting myself from 20 years ago was a singularly surreal experience (especially since I hate pretty much everything 2004 AAl came up with, but was confined to his vision, such as it was). But even within the severe limitations of keeping things basically the same as the original, Fred and Meg fucking nailed this.
The game itself, which Mark also very much nailed all around, drops on Steam at the end of this month and I hope you'll check it out.

Your friendly reminder that the only time Sunbow did a Christmas episode, it dealt with holiday depression and had Cobra taken down by a giant parrot.

Ron "AAlgar" Watt of the Sarcastic Voyage Theater and Post Atomic Horror stops by the mayor's office to help review THE Christmas movie, "It's A Wonderful Life". No pressure here. Just the simple story of an utter sap who bums out everyone around him, and totally holds back his wife, a bridge architect/private investigator with several advanced degrees. We also discuss Mr. Potter's interior decorator, the omen of death that stalks George Bailey, and whether you should spring for brand name poison. Tinseltown.libsyn.com Patreon.com/Tinseltown

The scene has since been completely rewritten, but we liked some of the jokes so we're gonna share it with you now!

Friends Ron “AAlgar” Watt and Matt Rowbotham, whom you may remember from appearing on our very first episode, will be appearing at the Emerald City Comicon this weekend with Star Trek puppets and comedy stylings to promote their podcast, Post Atomic Horror:
The Post Atomic Horror podcast has taken on a monumental task: to review every official contribution to Star Trek canon, from the original pilot (“The Cage”) to the series finale of Enterprise.
They will debut the new print edition of the Post Atomic Horror Unofficial Episode Guide, Volume 2, covering the entirety of the TNG crew’s adventures with their special brand comedic commentary, as well as the first volume, which covers all of the the TOS crew’s episodes, including the animated series, and all of their movies.
Volume 1 is also available in various eBook forms in their web store (I contributed!), and I have it on good authority that the Volume 2 eBooks will be appearing there shortly after the con. (…since I just delivered the final eBook files to AAl last night!)
I’ll be there, too, occasionally helping to man the booth or gophering for the PAH folks. If you’re in Seattle this weekend, come say hi at the AAlgar Productions booth in Artists Alley, table HH-03.

Endeavor!
From 2010 to 2020, the two people responsible for this blog (Maggie Rowbotham and Ron AAlgar Watt) reviewed the entirety of Star Trek on the Post Atomic Horror podcast. Yes, all of it. Even the really awful parts. In fact, we were so successful in our mission that we ran out of things to review. So we switched to a different project to allow the buffer to fill back up again. We learned a lot in that decade — about what really works in Star Trek; what really doesn't work; and what we wish we could see more of. Which led to the creation of our fanfic series, Endeavor.
Endeavor tackles political issues that mainstream Trek has been a bit... ham-fisted in dealing with. It includes an ongoing and frank discussion about neurodivergence. And it is unapologetically queer. There is so much of both of us infused into the DNA of this show, not to mention a stable of brilliant performers, co-writers and an actual composer. We could not be prouder of it.
Our second season began in early 2020. Ten episodes were originally planned, releasing at a rate of one per month. But then we were hit with a number of unavoidable delays. Who can say why? It's not like anyone else we know lost their entire minds starting in early 2020.
We did end up expanding the season to 12 episodes, and we managed to get 11 of those out by April of 2022.

The season finale, “Birth of a Nation,” took... a bit longer to get sorted out, but I'm pleased to announce that it's finally here.
Tumblr media
Clocking in at over an hour in length, “Birth of a Nation” pays off a lot of stuff: the ongoing arcs of our three principles; the storyline involving the obviously-a-stand-in-for-white-supremacy world of Macaria; the financial misadventures of the Ferengi Tod; and threads of varying shapes and sizes, too numerous to list here, stretching back to our premiere episode.
This is not a series finale. Endeavor will be returning with a third season. But if we did have to end the show here, for whatever reason, we think this would serve as a pretty solid final chapter.
As with all non-corporate-backed Internet efforts, making people aware of our show and getting them to actually listen to it is a constant challenge. So, please: if you like Star Trek (or even just science fiction with a genuinely optimistic outlook for the future) and/or fully-scripted, fully produced audio drama, give our show a listen. And tell your friends. A pledge to our Patreon (which helps us pay the performers) would not go unappreciated, either.
