I'm Obsessed With Romance

All day I fantasize about being in love. I write about my romantic feelings. I write love letters. I write characters who are in love. I read romance stories often. I listen to love songs and create romantic playlists. I find something romantic in everything I do. When I make a cup of tea, I think of some romantic metaphor for the care I put into the cup. Before I go to bed, I make up romantic scenarios to fall asleep to. I am not lonely, and I have plenty of real romance in my life. I am simply addicted to romanticizing the world.

RAGE

No matter how hard I try to escape you,

you seem to always find your way back.

In the most precious place

in my dearest sanctuary:

my subconscious.

Once painted in a glossy white angelic chrome

slowly becoming dark in tone.

A bleeding paint with washes of fault.

So young and vulnerable.

I am to blame for looking your way.

For giving into temptations we were all taught not to fall for as kids.

So clueless and reckless.

I am just a kid

constantly giving in.

A disgrace to surrounding crowds, living in sin, and doing things I didn’t know had meaning back then.

I’ve grown into melancholy’s shoes

and fall in deeper as I get older.

With a head space that is slowly declining

so all I want is to rage.

To feel pain

to embrace my hurt

on an infinite page

where you are the stain

and I am the curse.
