Dayton, OH — VoicePlay live performances

After spending quite a bit of time in Ohio the previous autumn, VoicePlay returned in July 2015 for a night at the Fraze Pavilion. The show was almost cancelled for inclement weather, but luckily the rain held off and the outdoor venue stayed dry.

Their opening act was Eleventh Hour of Kettering Fairmount High School, the host group for the Kettering A Capella Festival that VoicePlay had participated in the year before. These talented kids had also opened for the Sing-Off tour a few months earlier at the Troy, OH show.

Trivia:

VoicePlay had been performing and tweaking this medley/skit since at least 2010.

They made a professional recording in front of a live audience during the 2014 Sing-Off tour.

Layne usually sings "Royals" by Lorde as his interrupting solo, but sometimes changes it like he does here in an attempt to make the other guys break character.

As much fun as this medley is to listen to, it's even more entertaining to watch the boys perform it live, bopping around the stage and playing together.

VoicePlay revised this medley and finally recorded a video for it in 2019 as the result of a Patreon poll.

Contrary to the cameraperson's assertion, Earl did not "mess up" the melody. That's how VoicePlay's arrangement goes. It's intentionally different from the original Journey version that she was probably expecting.

VoicePlay had been performing this arrangement since at least 2009, when they were still going by 4:2:Five.

In 2016, they were the featured guests at Camp A Cappella, and recorded a video for this song with the campers.

They later recorded a full version of "Any Way You Want It" during the second round of their PartWork series.

For a couple years, Eli also sang with a Journey cover band called Raised On Radio in between VoicePlay gigs.

Après l’échec du transfert de Pau Lopez, Lens a rapidement su rebondir. D’après nos informations, le club a trouvé un accord total avec l’AS Roma pour l’arrivée du gardien australien Matthew Ryan. Santo Inácio de Loyola

Fundador da Companhia de Jesus

Iñigo Lopez de Loyola, este era o seu nome de batismo, nasceu numa família cristã, nobre e muito rica, na cidade de Azpeitia, da província basca de Guipuzcoa, na Espanha, no ano de 1491. O mais novo de treze filhos, foi educado, com todo cuidado, para tornar-se um perfeito fidalgo. Cresceu apreciando os luxos da corte, praticando esportes, principalmente os equestres, seus preferidos.

Em 1506, a família Lopez de Loyola estava a serviço de João Velásquez de Cuellar, tesoureiro do reino de Castela, do qual era aparentada. No ano seguinte, Iñigo tornou-se pajem e cortesão no castelo desse senhor. Lá, aprimorou sua cultura, fez-se um exímio cavaleiro e tomou gosto pelas aventuras militares. Era um homem que valorizava mais o orgulho do que a luxúria.

Dez anos depois, em 1517, optou pela carreira militar. Por isso foi prestar serviços a um outro parente, não menos importante, o duque de Najera e vice-rei de Navarra, o qual defendeu em várias batalhas, militares e diplomáticas.

Mas, em 20 de maio de 1521, uma bala de canhão mudou sua vida. Ferido por ela na tíbia da perna esquerda, durante a defesa da cidade de Pamplona, ficou um longo tempo em convalescença. Nesse meio tempo, meio por acaso, trocou a leitura dos romances de infantaria e guerra, por livros sobre a vida dos santos e a Paixão de Cristo. E assim foi tocado pela graça. Incentivado por uma de suas irmãs, que cuidava dele, não voltou mais aos livros que antes adorava, passando a ler somente livros religiosos. Já curado, trocou a vida de militar por uma vida de dedicação a Deus. Foi, então, à capela do santuário de Nossa Senhora de Montserrat, pendurou sua espada no altar e deu as costas ao mundo da corte e das pompas.

Durante um ano, de 1522 a 1523, viveu retirado numa caverna em Manresa, como eremita e mendigo, o tempo todo em penitência, na solidão e passando as mais duras necessidades. Lá, durante esse período, preparou a base do seu livro mais importante: “Exercícios espirituais”. E sua vida mudou tanto que do campo de batalhas passou a transitar no campo das ideias, indo estudar filosofia e teologia em Paris e Veneza.

Em Paris, em 15 de agosto de 1534, juntaram-se a ele mais seis companheiros, e fundaram a Companhia de Jesus. Entre eles estava Francisco Xavier, que se tornou um dos maiores missionários da Ordem e também santo da Igreja. Mas todos só se ordenaram sacerdotes em 1537, quando concluíram os estudos, ocasião em que Iñigo tomou o nome de Inácio. Três anos depois, o papa Paulo III aprovou a nova Ordem e Inácio de Loyola foi escolhido para o cargo de superior-geral.

Ele preparou e enviou os missionários jesuítas ao mundo todo, para fixarem o cristianismo, especialmente aos nativos pagãos das terras do novo continente. Entretanto, desde que esteve no cargo de geral da Ordem, Inácio nunca gozou de boa saúde. Muito debilitado, morreu no dia 31 de julho de 1556, em Roma, na Itália.

A sua contribuição para a Igreja e para a humanidade foi a sua visão do catolicismo, que veio de sua incessante busca interior e que resultou em definições e obras cada vez mais atuais e presentes nos nossos dias. Foi canonizado pelo papa Gregório XV em 1622. A sua festa é celebrada, na data de sua morte, nos quatro cantos do planeta onde os jesuítas atuam. Santo Inácio de Loyola foi declarado Padroeiro de todos os Retiros Espirituais pelo papa Pio XI em 1922.

«Il singolo racconta di un tempo in cui ho sentito forte la necessità di sollevarmi in uno spazio che non avesse materia. E’ come se avessi avuto il bisogno di imparare ad amare per la prima volta in una condizione imprescindibile di mancanza e di assenza. Mi sono accorta di essere cresciuta solo nel momento esatto in cui sognando ho preso coscienza che il distacco tra due corpi che non possono più toccarsi può trasformarsi in un sentimento forte al punto che sollevandosi arriva a toccarsi ancora una volta e in una forma più intensa» Rita Zingariello

“Al di là delle stelle” è un brano semplice e delicato, una canzone d’amore dove la forza del sentimento permette di raggiungersi in ogni momento, anche se lontani fisicamente.

Una session acustica registrata in presa diretta con la voglia di catturare un momento di creatività, con il piacere di interpretare in chiave minimale alcune canzoni note e meno note della musica italiana e internazionale.

Così nasce questa versione di “Al di là delle stelle”, scelto come primo singolo per presentare l’ep eponimo di Rita Zingariello in uscita il 30 gennaio. Il brano nella sua versione originale è contenuto nel disco d’esordio della cantautrice pugliese del 2014“Possibili percorsi”.

Registrato da Francesco Altieri in presa diretta presso il Labsonic Recording Studio di Matera vede la partecipazione alla chitarra di Domenico Lopez.

Rita Zingariello è di origini pugliesi. Esordisce nel 2008 con “È alba”, un ep di cinque canzoni. Tra il 2012 e il 2016 ottiene molti riconoscimenti in premi a valenza nazionale: Frequenze Mediterranee, Festival della Canzone Friulana, Voci per la libertà per Amnesty International, UP, Festival dell’Alta Murgia, Red Bull Tour.

Il suo primo album è “Possibili percorsi”, prodotto dal polistrumentista trentino Phil Mer. Dopo aver aperto concerti di Gino Paoli, Paola Turci, Mario Venuti, PFM e molti altri, collabora con Mogol per uno spettacolo incentrato sulle canzoni del grande autore.

Nella primavera del 2018 pubblica “Il canto dell’ape”, secondo album che riceve una serie di riconoscimenti: riceve menzioni al Premio InediTo, al Premio Pigro per Ivan Graziani, al Premio Peppino Impastato ed è inoltre vincitrice assoluta della prima edizione del Premio Pascoli, musicando “Patria” del poeta romagnolo. Il disco viene accolto molto positivamente da pubblico e critica. Nel 2019 realizza un progetto ambizioso: un doppio album, distribuito su supporto USB, in cui raccoglie trenta cover arrangiate con gusto e interpretate con originalità, dal titolo “I giganti e la bambina – canzoni a richiesta”, un lavoro finalizzato alla raccolta fondi per il progetto “Respira bellezza” della Fondazione Francesca Divella, che offre assistenza psicologica ai pazienti oncologici.

Tra il 2019 e il 2020 è stata impegnata in un tour teatrale in tutta Italia, dedicato a questo ultimo lavoro discografico (Sanremo, Bari, Roma, Bisceglie, Reggio Calabria).

Durante la pandemia è notata dal critico musicale Michele Neri che la invita a partecipare alla trasmissione televisiva “Settenote” di Gigi Marzullo su Rai1 con la canzone “Risalire”.

Attualmente è docente di Canto Pop/Rock presso il conservatorio Tito Schipa di Lecce.
