During the First World War, Queen Mary (26 May 1867 – 24 March 1953) paid her respects in 1916 at local memorial shrines in East London.

The ‘Roll of Honour’ (seen in the second photograph) listed over 100 men from around this street in Hackney who had enlisted.

it’s nearly 2am so have some fnc headcanons + albatrio

- gill has tied a scrap of chips bandana on to destiny’s blade for “good luck”

- chip found a preserved firebug in a jar at a local market and gave it to gill, laughing so hard he struggles to get the joke out

- gillion starts a journal, instead of documenting wildlife or whatever he prefers to write about how chip’s freckles had turned up on his shoulders or funny oversea jokes he wants to try on chip

- all three of albatrio get matching tattoos of the riptide pirates flag, both jay and gillion wake up with some creative additions at least twice

- despite the fact chip resolutely stopped the pet names, going into combat gillion still likes to add ��absolute snookums” to the end of his titles

- on rainy nights the two like to sit on the deck, laughing whilst gillion creates animals from the rainfall
