Chapter 23: Prom
(Authors note: Sorry for the delays, had procrastination issues lol)
Rogue couldn’t believe it, it was finally the day of the prom, it felt like it had been like 2 weeks since the meeting with Yukino asking for advice, he wasn’t sure why. He got up out of bed and began to prepare, he wore his dads old suit which surprisingly fitted him, probably because of dragon slayer magic, and he stood waiting at the door for the time to arrive as the clock hit 11am. The prom started at 9pm.
Rogue proceeded to wait there, shaking with excitement until it was time to go. He picked up Fresh by the paw and slung them over his back as he opened the door and left for the prom. He walked down the dark street in his dads navy suit, feeling awesome. The world was his catwalk and he sure as hell was gonna be the catboy of it.
“Hey Rogue! Lookin sharp” a voice behind him said. This was it, Rogue was going to finally see what Sting would look like in a suit, his handsome body and charming smile in formal wear. He turned around and… oh, it was gajeel. “Glad to see we can get people from all corners of the school to attend. I think you’ll really like what we have in store.” Rogue had completely forgotten that Gajeel was the host of the prom, though it never really occurred to Rogue to see who was involved since it didn’t matter all that much. Gajeel looked pretty good in his own gajeel way. He wore a black and white suit that had the sleeves ripped off. Gajeel seemed to notice his gaze upon his arms. “So whose your date for the dance Cheney? Come on, you can tell me” Gajeel said, placing a hand on his shoulder with a grip that was almost painful.
Rogue blushed, “O- oh, I don’t have a date for the dance, I’m going with Sting platonically though… I don’t think he has a date either though…”
“Really? Sting Eucliffe of all people not having a date? I remember seeing girls ask him out to be their prom partner several times but he turned them all down…” he playfully bumped Rogue with his shoulder, almost knocking him onto the road and ending the fanfiction right there. “Maybe you got a chance then.”
Rogue blushed and stuttered and stammered, HOW DID GAJEEL KNOW?!??! “I- I- You- I- nya- How- G- gajeel?”
“Come on, as if it wasn’t incredibly obvious that you like Sting. Well, I should get going, I gotta be there early for preparations. Good luck mate!” he said, before leaping onto a building roof and parkouring his way to the school, like the parkour dragon from Rogue’s book. That was all very embarrassing and Rogue was still tense after it, but he continued walking anyway, for Sting. Eventually he arrived at the academy, and there really wasn’t much to see, they only really decorated the inside so it was basically the same on the outside except for the light coming from the hall, so he went in. It surprised him how many people were there, and he was even more surprised that he recognised a lot of them. But for writing reasons, he couldn’t find sting anymore.
Rogue began to panic but eventually came to the conclusion that Sting would be, as usual, fashionably late. So he decided to try talking to the people he recognised. He started by approaching Lucy, who he saw talking to Minerva, who was drunk and crying. Lucy was taking it well, acting polite and showing no sympathy whatsoever for her tears, simply talking to her like she’s acting normal.
“H- hi Lucy, how are you finding the prom?”
Lucy jumped in surprise and turned to face her ex (?) with a blush on her cheeks, “H- hi Rogue! I’m having fun, Gajeel didn’t like the idea of making it snake themed though, so I’m a bit disappointed about that, but it turned out well… How about you, do you want a date- I- I mean, have you got a date for the dance?”
Rogue blushed and looked down, adjusting his glasses and playing with his hair, “No, not really… but I’m gonna be hanging out with Sting for most of it I think… Have you seen him anywhere?”
Lucy looked down in slight disappointment, “Oh, Sting… No, I don’t think so.” She perked up, “Oh yeah! Maybe he’s at the petminding area. To make life easier for the pet owners attending, Gray thought it would be a good idea to have someone volunteer to mind all the pets while the prom happens. You could go by and leave your cat… frog… thing over there, and maybe you’ll see Sting there.”
“Oh! G- good idea, thanks… Lucy…” he stammered out as she took his hand and brought him through the hall. The act of intimacy caught him off guard immensely, his cheeks were as red as the even redder dragon from the newer dragon book Rogue had back at home. He almost dropped Fresh out of surprise, but instead gripped them harder, causing them to let out a strangled ribbit. Soon enough, they got to the area and Rogue launched Fresh into the sandpit that was available for cats, right next to doug, who was high on catnip.
“Bye Fresh!” Rogue called out to the very dizzy cat. Beside him, Lucy was blushing a bit as Rogue left, wishing she had said something more before he left. Meanwhile Rogue was disappointed that Sting wasn’t there, and his worries began to pile up. He wandered through the hall of chatting students and decided to try to find someone to talk to, someone who would understand him, someone with similar interests… He couldn’t find anyone (despite Lucy’s efforts) and was about to leave when he felt a hand on his shoulder.
“Milord, such a pleasure to meet a beta male like you at such a prestigious event.”
Rogue turned around and was very surprised to see Mirajane Strauss standing before him, with a smitten Gary Fullbuster clinging to her arm. Mirajane was wearing quite a similar outfit to her usual wear but a bit more formal. She had an extra shiny fedora on and under her ankle length trench coat was a shirt and tie, admittedly it looked pretty good, not as good as sting, not even close, but it was nice. Gray was wearing a cheap 3 piece suit- nevermind, 2 piece now, the jacket had strangely disappeared. Rogue realised he was monologuing in his head too much and spoke up “T- thanks… you two look great together…” he faced Gray. Who was nuzzling his head into Mirajanes shoulder like an affectionate cat. “I thought you and Juvia were in a relationship…”
Gray let out a little growl and held Mirajanes arm tighter, “No… we’re just friends…” he sounded the word ‘friends’ like it was a slur that nobody should ever say. “Janey is the only one for me…”
Mirajane rolled her eyes with a smile and patted his head, “Calm down, be a good boy and let go of your alpha females arm, My Lord.”
Gray immediately let go of Mirajanes arm, looking down at the floor with cheeks as red as something really red, Rogues mind was too boggled to even think of a type of dragon that fit the description of being red so you’ll just have to imagine something really red. Oh, and now Gray’s suit only had one piece, the trousers. Rogue decided that was enough of that conversation and was about to leave as he heard the door to the hall slam open and Rogue turned around right away to see the dragon god in human form himself, Sting Eucliffe.
“WWOOOOOOH HELLO EVERYBODY! THE INCREDIBLY CONFIDENT STING EUCLIFFE IS IN THE HOUSE!” Sting called out. There was silence, then applause, then cheering. It was a standing ovation, probably because nobody was sitting because it was a dance.
Rogue nervously walked over to Sting, who strode over with an aura of pure awesomeness and put an arm around his shoulder, “Ready for the night of your life? These dating fools don’t measure up at all to the 2 legendary bachelors that are us!” Rogue blushed, sting blushed, Stings confident façade was falling apart at the first sign of Rogue’s cuteness. Rogue wondered why Doug was at the petminding area before sting had arrived, but then he chalked it up to Sting being fashionably late and awesome. Once the crowd had settled down, the pair began to chat for a bit, when Gajeel approached the two.
“Hey hey Sting, so glad you could show up dude!” exclaimed Gajeel as he patted Sting on the back. His confidence was matched by Sting, who patted him on the back even harder, “Ah, Gajeel, my man, Gajeel ‘wifehaver’ Redfox, I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
Rogue felt a sudden pull as he was squeezed up against Sting, it felt like heaven, the softness of the fabric on Sting’s suit and the warmth of his body being so close, his cheeks went so incredibly red, would he feel this every day if Sting and Rogue got married? If Sting’s body felt like this, what would his lips feel like? His mind whirred with thoughts and fantasies, while on the outside he was simply letting out little Meows, which was driving Sting crazy on the inside.
Sting knew he had to keep his composure around Rogue, so he pulled him along to a group of people, most of which were in the Saber Tooth club and a few friends outside the guild. Rogue was snapped out of his haze as he saw the people they were approaching, Bickslow, Laki, Sorano and Minerva. Minerva was more drunk then he had ever seen her, she could barely stand, she had an arm around Laki to keep her up, Laki was of course wearing stiletto heels and was inwardly struggling to keep hold of her.
“Hey Laki, glad to see you and Bickslow are doing well” Sting said to her with a friendly grin, that sparked some jealousy in Rogue.
“Oh yes, he’s a good boy and was the first in my harem, so he gets a bit of special treatment” Laki says, holding up the leash she had that was attached to a collar around Bickslows neck. Rogue… Rogue didn’t like this sight, it made him want to be sick, but one word stuck out to him and it seemed Sting felt the same way…
“Harem..?”
“Oh yes, Sorano was incredibly desperate for a partner that I let her join, she’s very low maintenance, I barely even need to interact with her and she’ll be content. Minerva followed not long after and she’s inseparable from me… though her opinion on me is very different if I have no alcohol on me…”
“Right…” Sting said, feeling very uncomfortable, he turned to Sorano, who was on her phone texting someone, “Hey Sora! Did Yukino not come with her boyfriend for the prom?”
“Nah…” she seemed very focussed on texting, about 80% focussed on her phone, 20% on the conversation, though it seemed that was enough for her to hear what Sting was saying, “Her boyfriend doesn’t go to the academy so he wasn’t allowed to attend, so naturally she didn’t come either, they’re having a little date night back home.”
With a shrug, he seemed to understand the logic. Following the simple gesture, he whispered in Rogue’s ear, “Wanna go to the dance floor for a little platonic dancing? It’ll be fuuun”
Rogue gasped and nodded, “Nyah!” he agreed.
The dance floor was packed as the music slowed down, Sting put his strong right arm and large hand around Rogue’s waist and Rogue looked up at him with a gaze of pure awe. Sting then gracefully placed his foot atop Rogue’s as they attempted to dance, causing pain to shoot up his leg, but Rogue didn’t care, this was so romantic, this was as close as they’d ever be, Rogue knew. Nothing could ruin this night, it was all so perfect.
“Rogue… how do you like my confidence? Or how well I am at being myself?”
“S- So much… Your so cool Sting…”
“Yeah… I know” Sting pulled his other hand out of Rogue’s and gave him a little finger gun while making a clicking sound with his mouth, and it was like he had been shot right through the heart by cupids very own finger guns. As the totally platonic bro dance continued, the two talked and talked and it was so intimate, so heartwarming. That is, until DJ Erza changed the song to Cha Cha slide.
Gajeel then announced to the hall, “Alright lovebirds, it’s time to announce the very first PROM KING AND QUEEN!”
Everyone gathered around, Rogue was so nervous, he knew he wouldn’t be picked for Prom King or Queen, but there was still that hope.
“This prom has been a huge success, and I think that they’ll only get better from here. Tonight will mark the start of a new Academy annual tradition!” Everyone cheered at Gajeels enthusiasm. “Now, for the part you’ve all been waiting for… we’ll start with the prom queen, as you all know the saying, Ladies first, so the very first prom queen for the dragon slaying academy is… Lucy Heartfilia!”
Lucy gasped as she stepped onto the stage in her snake themed dress, she gracefully moved to the middle of the stage and had the Prom Tiara placed on her head (??? I have no idea I haven’t been to a prom before). She had a wide grin on her face, despite not actually having a date for the dance.
“And the prom king is…” Gajeel paused for suspense, “ROGUE CHENEY! We really need to tweak the rules for prom king and queen, we were way too vague with who it could be…” Everyone applauded as Rogue went up and stood next to Lucy, grinning with tears in his eyes and a meow caught in his throat as he felt the heavy crown lowered onto his head, he glanced over at Lucy, both were blushing, Gajeel looked over to Erza and whispered, “What now?”
Erza shrugged “I don’t know, maybe make them walk down the middle of the crowd?”
Gajeel shrugged, “Sounds good to me. Alright! Everybody make way for the King and Queen of Prom!”
Everyone awkwardly made space for the two of them to walk down the middle  as some romantic piano music played. Rogue was very confused as to why it couldn’t have been Sting who was prom king with him, 2 kings walking hand in hand, sex with a man, etc. But he walked with Lucy, who linked arms with him, just like they had practised together. He actually kinda enjoyed her company, if it weren’t for Sting she might even be a good partner for him-
“GAJEEL LOOK OUT!”  Erza called out, Everyone turned to face the stage and Gajeel lay on the floor, face down with a knife in his back. Gajeel was dead. Things had changed.
To be continued (someday)
(Authors note 2: I still know barely anything about fairy Tail, but I'd like to think that Gajeel and erza are (or would be) total bros with eachother, just the vibe I get. A sort of drinking buddy dynamic but healthier if you get what i mean. If i'm wrong do tell me)

Dating: Rogue
Headcannons and stuff:
--> Super sneaky back hugs - these aren't bad but it takes some time to get used to them. He's quiet, and sometimes either he just doesn't let you know he's there or you just don't notice until he's wrapping himself around you from behind. You may jump the first few times, but steadily get used to his touch and the fact that sometimes he's just on you.
--> Poetic and romantic - Rogue definitely strikes me as the type to be reserved but still hold a lot of romance within him, almost old victorican romance coded. Obviously he is also super bashful, but little lines will slip from him before he's even noticed - "your name is my favourite word for love." He will get super embarrassed after but you make sure to keep track of every sweet thing he's ever said. Old romance also strikes me as pressed flowers or dried flower petals, even if its small, it's something that he will do. Rogue definitely seems like the type to find out your favourite flower and search everywhere to find it. Hand written letters too in gorgeous handwriting from a fountain pen.
--> Takes him a while to fall completely - he's definitely closed off at first. Please remember that he canonically destroys the world for Frosch so know that this is the level of love that he has within him. However, once he is settled, he shows so much of his raw self to you.
--> He stares - he will stare. He sometimes doesn't realise it, but you do. It might seem creepy, and to anyone else it is, especially if they don't know your dynamic. His gaze is soft, not harsh, and definitely not cold. Sometimes he just likes to take you all in.
--> He's a bad cook but tries anyway - the very key word here is 'tries'. He's not the best, but he puts on his little apron, and he tries to cook breakfast in bed. He will follow every single recipe point by point, but things will always go wrong.
--> Frosch is the third wheel - sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a bad way. Ultimately, it's practice for potentially having a baby and this is not lost on Rogue. The biggest thing is that if you do not like or get on with Frosch then you will not be with Rogue and it's as simple as that. Even if he loves you more than anything, Frosch still comes first.

Sting was in trouble. He had thought it was funny when his friends, who had never met his cat, assumed Lector was his boyfriend. Now that he had been invited to Natsu's wedding, on the other side of the country, he felt otherwise.
He had, at first, considered coming clean, but that would be embarrassing. He couldn't decline the invitation either, since he hadn't seen Natsu in nearly two years. In short, he was fucked. Or rather, he wasn't. If he was, he might have someone he could try to convince to go with him.
He had been putting it off for a month, and now he only had a week left to find both a fake boyfriend who was willing to answer to the name Lector, and a cat sitter.
There was no putting it off any longer, so he called his friend, Yukino, to ask for advice. Maybe he could convince her to watch Lector for him.
"Hello Sting! I was just going to call you. You're coming to Lucy's wedding too, right?" Yukino said cheerfully. Damn it. He forgot that she was friends with Natsu's fiancée.
"Yeah, about that... You know Lector, my cat? Natsu assumed I was talking about a boyfriend, and he kinda wants to meet him at the wedding, to make sure he's not a jerk or whatever. So I need a cat sitter and someone who's willing to take a train ride across the country with a complete stranger and can be trained to answer to 'Lector' in a week." Sting decided to rip off the band-aid. Yukino wouldn't rat him out.
"Oh my god, that's hilarious! I'm writing a song about it. Natsu and Lucy can play it at the reception." Yukino's himbo boyfriend, Orga, mocked him. Sting had forgotten that Yukino usually had her phone on speaker, for some reason. Orga would absolutely rat him out, and as he would be attending as Yukino's +1, there would be no stopping him.
"No you won't, Orga. No. We'll negotiate later, I'm helping Sting avoid the consequences of his actions right now." She was his best friend for a reason, and that reason was that she was the best. "Now: Why exactly did you think any of this was a good idea?"
"Well, it was funny at first, and then I'd kept up the lie for three months and I realized I was in too deep." Sting admitted. Yukino sighed.
"And at no point in the three months after that did you think to ask for help?" Yukino chided him.
"Nope."
"Of course not. Do you have 20 thousand jewel?"
"Yeah? Why?"
"Alright. You'll be at the party for a day, plus two days for traveling. All expenses at the hotel will be paid, and I assume you're willing to pay for both of your train tickets?" Yukino asked.
"Yeah, sounds right." Sting confirmed.
"Okay. Sorano could use some more money, so she'd probably watch your cats and-"
"Wait, cats?"
"Yeah. One of my coworkers owes me a favor, and he needs a break from work anyway, so I could probably convince him if I told him I found a place for his cat to stay." His amazing friend told him.
"You're the best!"
*
Who would have known having Yukino cover his shift so he could take Frosch to the vet would have such devastating consquences?
Rogue wondered how his life had reached this point. He was sitting opposite someone he'd met only once, inside a train headed to the other side of the country, to a wedding for people he had never heard of.
Not an ideal situation, but aside from Frosch, Yukino was his only friend and she had made arrangements for Frosch, so he had agreed. It was a free vacation, anyway. Not to mention the guy was good looking.
"So, Lector, what do you do for a living?" His fake boyfriend, Sting, asked him. Rogue really could have done without the fake name, especially in private, but he wouldn't be able to answer to it without practice.
"The same as Yukino. We're both nurses." Rogue answered. It took him a moment to realize that he ought to ask Sting the same. "You?"
"I'm a graphic designer. Okay, more things we really need to know: Ages, have we ever been arrested, how did we meet? I'll start: I'm twenty six and I've been arrested twice." Sting told him.
"What for?"
"I'll tell you when you answer."
"Fine, I'm twenty six, and I haven't been arrested yet. Now should I regret agreeing to this?" Rogue asked.
"Trespassing and accessory to second degree arson. I promise it's not as bad as it sounds. It's been like, ten years. And the second one was Natsu's fault." Sting defended himself.
"The groom?"
"Yeah, that's the guy. He wants to meet you to make sure you're not a jerk." Sting explained.
"What have you told him about Lector?" Rogue steered the conversation back on track.
"Oh, usual cat things: He steals my food, he wants cuddles, he charges around the house at 3am, he's adorable, I keep losing staring contests to him, he bites me." Sting seemed to realize how badly awry things had gone before they had even reached the venue. "Well that's going to be awkward."
"You don't say."
*
"We should practice the whole couple thing." Sting suggested a few hours later over lunch. Rogue looked up from his sandwich, over to Sting and reached out, grabbing some of his fake boyfriend's M&Ms before focusing on his sandwich again.
"Well that's a start, but I was thinking more along the lines of PDA and establishing boundaries." Sting clarified. Honestly, staring at Sting wouldn't be too hard, and as demonstrated, stealing his food was entirely within the realms of Rogue's capabilities. The rest, however... Rogue nodded.
"Ideally, we'd hug a bunch and maybe kiss a couple of times to really sell it, but we can say you're shy around strangers if you really don't want to." Sting explained.
"No, that seems fine." Rogue accepted.
"Okay, now we need to practice." Sting said. Rogue froze for a moment. Once he realized what Sting meant, he nodded. He knew damn well he'd slip up in front of everyone if he didn't practice.
Sting leaned over the table and pecked him on the lips. It felt fine, almost like it was something he normally did, at first, but then he felt his face heat up suddenly. Sting pulled away.
"Sorry, I panicked." Rogue apologized swiftly.
"No, it's fine, I barely noticed. It went better than I expected." Sting reassured him. "They'll never notice."
*
It was mid afternoon when they arrived at their station in the middle of nowhere, and only a short walk to the hotel from there. Rogue offered to carry some of Stings luggage, as he had brought fewer things. Sting's face flushed when Rogue's hand touched his. He'd have to get that under control. Did he regret packing half his wardrobe, or was it a blessing? Who knew? Sting certainly didn't.
"It's a nice venue." Rogue noted, looking around as they cleared the gates. There were tons of different flowers in lots of colors, and what Sting was pretty sure was a hedge maze. Hopefully, Natsu would know better than to start a fire at his own wedding. The hotel was an old castle, with large glass windows. Another easily breakable thing. Either Natsu had really changed in the last two years, or Lucy wasn't as much of a genius as her loving fiancée insisted. It was nice nonetheless.
"It's really big." Sting realized, as he spoke, how many people would be present to witness it if things went wrong.
"Don't get lost." Rogue joked.
"Sting! There you are!" Natsu came running out the door towards them, high-fiving Sting when he reached them. "I thought you were going to bail on me."
"Never. I wouldn't miss this for the world." Sting promised.
"I'd kick your ass if you did. Speaking of which, is this the Lector you were talking about?" Natsu asked, turning to Rogue. Sting grinned awkwardly.
"Yeah, that's my boyfriend. R-Lector, this is my childhood friend Natsu, he's the groom. Natsu, this is my boyfriend Lector." Sweating, Sting made the introductions.
"Nice meeting ya! How'd you meet?" Natsu asked Rogue. Stings eyes widened. Fuck. They hadn't prepared this.
"Frosch, my cat, learned how to open doors, and I forgot to lock the front door. Sting helped me look for her for hours, so I invited him out for coffee once we found her." Rogue answered excitedly. "Do you want to see a picture of her? I have pictures of her."
"Sure. Let's see her." Natsu agreed. Rogue's face lit up as he pulled out his phone.
"She's sweet, yeah." Natsu admitted. "Do you want to see Happy? He's our ring-bearer."
*
The first hurdle had been overcome minimal difficultly, so Sting was in high spirits when they reached the hotel room.
He wasn't sure what he had been expecting, but he was somehow surprised to find that there was only one bed, albeit a large one.
"I can take the couch if you want." He offered when Rogue entered.
"No, I think it's fine. The bed's pretty big." Rogue said casually. Well if he didn't mind, Sting sure as hell didn't. He dropped his stuff on the floor and flopped onto the bed. Rogue put his own stuff down more carefully before sitting down beside him.
"Didn't think it would go so well. I'm not sure what I was worried about." Sting admitted, letting out a sigh he hadn't known he was holding in.
"Don't jinx it. Honey." Rogue deadpanned, before letting his face break into a smile. It took Sting a moment to realize he was staring.
*
Despite his warning, Rogue was feeling pretty confident when he and Sting went downstairs for the rehearsal dinner. Gray, the best man, had let them know there was no need to dress up, so Rogue was wearing a red turtleneck sweater and black jeans. Sting, who seemed hellbent on making Natsu regret allowing the policy to be so vague, was wearing leather trousers and a rainbow crop-top.
"Aren't you worried you'll outshine the groom?" Rogue asked him.
"If Natsu was worried about that, he wouldn't have invited me." Sting boasted. Rogue decided to take his word for it.
They entered the dining hall when it almost full, Sting having insisted on being fashionably late. Perhaps that was a blessing, because that was the only reason Rogue had noticed Gajeel, his older cousin, before Gajeel noticed him.
"Sting, don't panic, but my cousin is here and he knows damn well my name isn't Lector." Rogue whispered hurriedly.
"Okay, okay. Don't panic. Maybe he won't notice you. We're not in the wedding party anyway, so show me who it is and we'll avoid them." Sting whispered back.
They took their assigned places, on the same side of the room as Gajeel, though a little further away from the main table, as Gajeel's wife, Levy, was sitting beside the bride. Oh. Yeah. Levy had mentioned at New Years that she would be maid of honor in her best friend's wedding. If Rogue had known it was this wedding, he would have refused Yukino's request. Speaking of Yukino, his coworker was making her way to their table with her boyfriend.
"So how is it going? Anyone suspect anything?" She asked.
"Shhh!" Sting looked around quickly.
"Don't worry. I asked Lucy to make sure we were the only ones at this table." She reassured him, though it didn't seem to work-
"She's going to know somethings up!" Sting insisted.
"Serves you right. Now how are things going with Lector." Yukino's boyfriend asked, winking at Rogue.
"Terribly, considering his cousin is married to the maid of honor." Sting hissed.
Rogue checked out of the conversation, watching Gajeel like a hawk. When desert rolled around, his cousin finally noticed him. Rogue shook his head faintly. Not now.
To his relief, Gajeel took the hint and dinner went off without a hitch.
Rogue waited just outside the door to the dining hall for him, to save him the trouble of looking and minimizing the risk of being exposed.
"Hey Rogue! Why didn't you say you were coming here? We could've driven you." Gajeel asked him when he came out, Levy in tow.
"It's complicated. Can we talk about this somewhere else?" Rogue looked around in a panic, worried Gajeel's loud voice would carry through the hallways.
In the garden, Gajeel resumed his line of questioning.
"So what's up, kid? Do I need to kick someone's ass?"
"No! Nothing like that. A friend of mine messed up and told his friend he had a boyfriend, so I'm helping him out. I didn't know this was your friend's wedding. Can you just call me Lector until this is over?" Rogue asked.
"Oh. You're the cat boy!" Levy exclaimed. Gajeel looked like he was about to explode with laughter.
"I'm sorry, what?" Rogue asked.
"Oh, Natsu wanted help figuring out what the deal with his friend's boyfriend was, so he asked us about it. We started calling you cat boy because it seemed like his friend was describing a cat." Levy explained.
"I wonder why."
*
The ceremony passed by quite normally, with only one accidental fire, which wasn't Natsu's fault.
Sting felt gorgeous in his light gray tuxedo and sky blue shirt, which was secretly a button-down crop-top, but he was having trouble keeping his eyes off his date, who looked dashing in a black suit and red shirt. Despite his prior warning to Sting not to outshine the groom, Rogue had decided to put his hair in a ponytail, which Sting forgave because he looked hot.
The reception promised to be a party to remember, being in the castle grounds, with every kind of food imaginable and ample space to dance.
Sting cheered when Natsu and Lucy finished their first dance, which prompted several others to cheer alongside him.
The music continued, and Sting offered his hand to Rogue. Rogue took it, smiling softly.
"Just so you know, honey, I can't dance for shit." Rogue warned him.
"Like we need to be good at it. It's pretty much just spinning anyway." Sting told him, taking the lead.
They might not have been the best dancers, but no one could beat them at spinning, Sting was sure of that. No one could match them with how majestic they were. He didn't know how many songs had passed when they stopped for a drink, just that they were out of breath.
As he unbuttoned the jacket to reveal his secret crop-top, Rogue leaned against him casually, and Sting realized that by this time tomorrow, it would be over, and the knowledge crashed over him like a tidal wave.
"Oh, I love this song! Do you want to go dance again?" Rogue exclaimed. Sting knew the song. It was 'All or Nothing' by Theory of a Deadman.
He took Rogue's hand again as they started to spin, looking into Rogue's eyes. He didn't want to let go. As the song ended, Sting made his choice.
"Hey, Rogue? I don't know if you're even into guys, but I enjoyed hanging out with you, and I wanted to know if you wanted to try going out for real sometime." He confessed. Rogue smiled that beautiful smile again.
"That depends entirely on if or not I'll have to go by Lector every time we visit your friends." He answered teasingly.
"No- nah, you don't. I'll come clean. I'll text Natsu on our way home." Sting promised.
"Then I'd love to." Rogue said.
"Alright, then would you like to go out for coffee on Wednesday? There's a coffee shop near the hospital that sells really good cinnamon rolls." Sting suggested.
"That sounds wonderful."
*
On the train ride home, Sting tried to work up the nerve to call Natsu, who would be leaving on his honeymoon tomorrow.
"Do it. Do it. You've got this." Rogue chanted in the seat beside him, in the most monotone voice he could muster.
Emboldened, Sting instead opted for text to the group chat, with basically everyone he knew from his hometown.
Lucy, Natsu, Levy, Gray, Wendy, Cana, Mira, Elfman, Lisanna, Laxus, Lyon and several others.
Sting: Hey guys. I just wanted to come clean. The Lector I kept telling you about was my cat. The guy I brought is actually called Rogue.
Cana: Hah! I knew you couldn't get a boyfriend.
Natsu: Yeah, Yukino told us as soon as you told her.
Sting looked at Rogue in horror. Rogue looked stunned for a moment, but started chuckling. He took Sting's phone.
"Sting": Levy, did you know?
Levy: Yeah. We just wanted to see how far Sting would go.
Sting took his phone back from Rogue.
Sting: You guys are the worst.
Sting: And joke's on you, Cana, I asked Rogue out and he said yes.
"Levy": You get Rogue on the phone right now. We need to talk.
Levy: Sorry, Gajeel took my phone.
Sting put his phone away.
"Should I be worried?" He asked Rogue.
"I'd say no, but that would be a lie." Rogue answered. "If worst comes to worst, we can blame Yukino."

Fight for Fiore
Tumblr media
Gajeel Fedfox -Chapter One
The content of Fiore had always been locked within a time of great strife that was always followed by hardships. Curses, creatures, and defilers controlled the land, and Before the time when heroes, conquerors, legends, gods came and went as the centuries passed by. One horrid story seemed to curse the land like infected blood through a body, a story of every lasting power struggle that affected every great story. It is always the same tale, never changing in ending only in the beginning as the generations started and finished. The first affected was the dragons, a wonderous race of creatures that lived before men ever walked on earth.
Before all things were the stars, big and empty orbs that lay in the endless space of nothingness. Then out of the nothingness flew a great figure, a being of ethereal power. The world had been created in a single bellow by this strong and large of these beings. This dragon, the first of all dragons named Irene, touched what was the heavens above, breathing light into the stars Causing them to shine above. She created the sky where celestials would live, next, this all-powerful being lay in the endless space between the new light-filled stars creating the world that all would exist on. In her effortless display, Irene had become the first mother. Birthing what would become the next from the stars above. As Mother Irene the first of dragons laid upon the sky, she created the dragons Zirconis, Belserion, Atlas, Motherglare and finally Acnologia the last of her children.
Each child was created to serve a purpose in this new world she crafted with her body, all given specific roles on how to use this new world. Atlas the first of her children was to rule, and Irene's only daughter Motherglare was to stay by her mother's side and watch over her mother's body. Belserion and Zirconis the twins were to balance out the world, with peace and tranquility. The last child Acnolgia was to follow after his older sibling’s place, bringing magic to the world, but Acnologia was selfish. He wanted to keep the world to himself, never under his older brother's rule.
In his possessiveness to rule he fought his siblings for control, finally succeeding after decades of battle. In their war which from fourth on was named the clash of dragons, acnologia tore his eldest brother Atlas apart. Turning him into the great flame that circled the world giving light to his new possession. Next, he ripped his sister from his mother's shoulders waving her back and forth through the sky, allowing her screams to make the wind and clouds causing the new world to forever be turning round and round. Spinning through an endless void that displeased the celestials. Lastly, for his older twin brothers Zirconis and belserion the youngest dragon tied them together, for they were the mightiest of the children. The only ones that could stop him, but could never get along with each other.
With the help of the celestials who wanted to stop The Clash of Dragons, acnolgia was able to compress his brothers down onto their mother, molding the twins into the lands that stretch the world now.
With all his foes now vanquished scattered across his mother, acnolgia flew to the now new content of Firoa where he laid claim to the land as his own. There he knocked down the forest with his large wings that had grown in the time of war. Clearing a singular piece of land that would be forever covered by his shadow in the west. Where the dark plains would be named. Next, he breathed a thick stream of fire to the south. Burning all that lay there creating the frugal kingdom of fire forever now summer due to the flame that still lingered. Once acnologia was done the great dragon began to tire comfortably laying his body down onto north. Where great mountains full of rich minerals and irons mixed into his body and the land. Formed from the thick and rich blood of himself. This is how the iron mountains came into creation, finally as the dragon laid upon the earth settling he left one spot uncovered by his tyranny. A single piece of clearing where the city of light got its start, but one last thing was left. As the beast laid its head in the middle of all. He drew his last breath a small island appeared from this final breath the windy isles that would soon come to be a place of peace between the four territories.
Although the great mother Irene was disappointed by the war that occurred on her great body that had become the world. She gave one last gift to the new world now shaped by destruction and death. Out of the scales of her twin sons zirconis and belserion came the first Men and Women. All many different shapes, sizes, races, and forms carried by the winds of her beloved daughter, now scattered all over the world. Her eldest child Atlas provided the sun that these new beings needed to start a life that would now last generations.
For her last child though the first mother Irene would bestow a horrid curse upon his land. Leaving a prophecy that he would play an important part in. Now bound to the land he would hold deep within him the eclipse gate. A sacred place that would one day open to bring on the era of dragons once again to the world when needed at its most. Over time the people of Acnologias land established the four territories that would rule first the Northern Iron Mountains, second the city of Light, third the Southern Kingdom of Fire, and lastly the western Dark Plains. All needed to play a future role in this prophecy that would help cure the land of its past. To always be at war with one another never able to progress like the rest of the world had freely begun to do.
A deep breath huffed in disagreement as he heard the legend being recited he continued to walk shaking his head. A woman of no particular features stood atop a short stone pillar. Speaking into the busy market her loud voice carried through its hustle and bustle. Some had come to stand below the pillar listening intensely to her words, most were children. Joining in to hear the great tale that they had shared so many times before. Others were fanatics who believed what she spewed wholeheartedly. That one day an era of mythical creatures would one day come back to claim the earth and break its curse. Saving the people in their time of need.
“Believers and their bullshit propaganda” Gajeel sneered. Many of the lower class that lived and worked in the Iron Mountains all followed the same thing. That the story of dragons and a cursed land was just an excuse to not fully exist in the real world. A way to desensitize everyone to what was happening in their homes under the tyrannical rule of their king. “I can't tell that people believe that stuff” another equally scratchy voice laughed along. Carrying a large tan bag of tools that the two had just secured. The small trip had been cut short considering most things in this place were either stolen or broken beyond repair. With the few lucky times that a stall would pecure something new.
“People will believe anything in a way to justify their suffering” Gajeel commented under his breath, causing Boze to stop in his tracks. The sunlight bounced off Boze’s bald head, causing his caramel skin to shine brightly in its light. Blinding the unfortunate souls that happened to be passing by.
“That's oddly poetic of you Redfox? Has raising girls grown you soft?” Boze asked beginning to walk again once he received a glare in response which was more than enough of any answer.
The two young men pushed their way through the crowd leading themselves to a long line where many like them stood. Readying to go into the forge, a nickname given to the place below the mountains, it contained the richest of resources. A place where most worked digging deep into the earth's darkest crevasse and few had the job of smithing weapons. Bringing out the riches of things that would be seen once in a lifetime. Only to be taken away straight to the greedyest of all who kept such treasures for himself, he alone controlled the iron mountains. Gajeel stood in line still as a soldier not moving a muscle as he zoned out thinking about the relaxation that awaited him at home. A strict voice echoed from the front of the line calling on the next ten people. This process took way longer than intended, signing each person's name onto a booklet to ensure that they would be paid the bare minimum. Just for their names to sometimes ‘get lost’ when payment came at the end of the day.
Gajeel shuffled his head to the side, his height providing a perfect view of what was seven other lines. One for each mountain, all full to the brim with people who awaited their turn. It was one young boy who caught Gajeel's eye, he looked younger than when he started working. The boy was covered in soot already a nod that meant he had just come from a different job of the day. Now standing in line to work a second shift, gajeel remembered those days back before puberty had hit him. He was around sixteen working two labor-intensive jobs just to provide for his family of three. It was after his father had left, a drunken fool who cared little for his children. Not enough to even say goodbye.
“They just get younger and younger don't they” Boze announced slapping his hand on his olive friend's shoulder three times. On the fourth, it finally caught Gajeel attention to move forward a few places in line.
“Not my problem” Gajeel responded rolling his eyes once again, now shifting them to the tan sack on Boze's shoulder. Full of what they would need for the day he and his associate had spent half of yesterday's earrings on the supplies. That would hopefully make their work less hard. The sack held new grips for a pickaxe that would help Boze. Though he hated to admit it, Boze had sustained a hand injury when he was younger due to a mine collapsing in on him. The two had also bought a new hammer for Gajeel since he worked on the other side of the forge. A space where only a few individuals bestowed the work of creating whatever the king demanded. It was hard work to stand over an anvil slamming down into its steel, Most of the time it wasn't anything special gajeel made, for the last few months now it had been common things that the king needed. Like an engraved brass plate probably for show, pots and pans things of that nature.
“Next” the strict voice yelled loudly as Gajeel and Boze moved forward once again now getting closer towards the front. “See I told you that coming an hour early was a good idea” Boze gloated. His voice faded into the background once more while Gajeel just stood in line buffering out his blabbering from people ahead and behind. At this point, he deserved a medal for his service to the realm. Protecting everyone's ears from his associates' nonsense day in and day out, the raven-haired man nodded along to Boze's words. Something was happening at the front he could see a man cutting through the crowded line to the right of him. Strange.
He adorned a set of big golden armor and the toughest of furs. This man was one of those people that never went cold through the long nights. Like he had done. The man continued to cut through the crowd ignoring the yells and protest of the people around him. Creating a path that would lead him straight to the man in charge of this whole operation. Once at the front, he seemed to disappear, now lost in the sea of formen and officials. Strange. Gajeel thought as “next” was called again breaking his focus again.
An iron hammer slammed down hard onto his steel counterpart, molding the metal below it into a flat surface. “Another damn plate,” Gajeel thought as he released all his anger into the new project he had been given. A tight deadline was enforced to go with his new assignment, to be done with a hundred and two plates before the midday meal. Which in retrospect was nearly impossible for the timeline given but Gajeel had struck a deal with the formen at the front. “I know you need it, so if you make me a few plates boy I'll cut you a little extra.”
The hammer slammed down again this time sending bits of sparks to the ground as gajeel pounded into the metal. His swings grew more and more unyielding from each slam of metal against metal. “Piece of shit” Gajeel yelled on the last slam hitting the center of the plate and finalizing his set. The young man was pissed, to say the least, he had spent his whole assigned meal cutting through the workload he was given. All for a selfish bastard and a few more jewels in his pocket. The smith finally dropped his hammer no longer new, the base now covered in scratches that cut deep. Gajeel slipped off his long protective gloves made from cheap leather that he had saved up to buy a few years back. Encircling his knuckles to take a much-needed break while the sound of footsteps approached his workbench. More like a work zone since the young man had an issue with working with others around him. Being suspended many times over the years for having disagreements with other smiths around him. Now secluded in his area of the forge where no one could bother him and vice versa. Where he could keep to his work without the pitter-patter of other voices bothering him.
“Redfox someone here to see you” sols annoying high pitch voice announced. Sol was the man in charge of all the blacksmiths. He was a spineless man who seemed to cave whenever something occurred under his watch. A fact from an incident in the past had given the strike as a murder. A little girl's death on his hands from his days as a watchman in the mines and when Sol was asked how he handled it all he did was cower over. “Sir Aria wants to speak to you” Sol shouted when Gajeel would not imminently turn around to greet whoever the hell it was disturbing him.
“I hear you old man” the smith growled, turning around with a raised brow and rubbing away the soreness in his knuckles with a warm towel from an off-to-the-side bucket of water. Gajeel had demanded that all stations have one nearby after a fire incident a few days back, although it was common sense to have water near a hot surface. Sol had never thought to assign anything to the station in case of a fire. After months of telling his supervisor that it was a must-have, Sol had to find out the hard way that Gajeel was right once again.
“So you must be the eclamined Black steel of the forge” Sir Aria spoke to Gajeel the man in question immediately cringed from the nickname. Obviously, he was a knight of some sort, why else would he come waltzing in like he had the right to?
“No one calls me that” Gajeel groaned, throwing the towel back into its bin.
“No one to your face” Sir Aria was quick to quip Shuffling towards an abandoned stool.
“Why are you here?” Gajeel sneered which was followed by a quick demand of an apology by his superior. “I mean no offense but Sir Aria why are you here?” He asked again this time with different wording but all the same sneer and tone.
“I came to see the man that created such a wonderous breastplate. You see I recently survived a gruesome battle and I require a few mending here and there." As Sir Aria continued to talk an ease began to set in gajeels brow. It wouldn't be so bad being enlisted for a private job of sorts. “I'll pay you double of what you work here, for your time taken” Sir Aria finally stated, his large frame getting comfortable in the uncomfortable stool.
“What about the smiths in the palace?” Gajeel asked, crossing his arms over one another.
“I would much rather have the man who made it before handle such a delicate procedure. This armor did save my life after all.” Sir Aria replied with a dry laugh mimicking gajeels crossed arms. The two large men watching each other intently both waiting for the other to give in. All the while Sol stood in the center of the room drowning in a pool of sweat nervous from what the young man would say. Gajeel had already said enough that would get many beheaded before repeating another smart remark but Sir Aria seemed to like Gajeel. Evident by Gajeel still being able to draw breath, “I like you Black Steel.” Sir Aria said cutting the silence.
The knight stood to his feet taking off the gold breastplate, displaying the large long scar that dug deep into his armor from the back. It looked as if some sort of large beast had scratched the man from behind, he was right that breastplate had saved his life. “I will be back in a fortnight to retrieve this from you. I expect it to be good as new.” Sir Aria announced turning on his heels to leave once the thick gold plate had hit the ground. Leaving a loud echo in his place. Sol followed behind Sir Aria as he walked down the tunnel further into the forge and away from Gajeel.
“I need a damn drink,” Gajeel said to himself once the room had been cleared out, now scratching his sore face with a displeased look.
The tavern was deafeningly full, the sounds of women and men alike drunky laughing at anything being said followed by the many different instruments being played at the same time. All combine together to make the most headache-inducing experience one could ever have all at once. Drinks flung back and forth from hand to hand, jewels loosely scattered the grounds probably from a customer who had way too much to drink. A glass shattered off in the distance which would have risen an eye if there already hadn't been so much happening. The wooden door slammed shut its wood leaving tough fingers as a figure walked in eyes scanning for a specific someone but finding someone else instead. Boze stood at the top of a round table contributing to the cheering that erupted like an open flame.
Gajeel helped himself to a seat, one right near the commotion that was gonna get out of hand sooner than later. “Drinks are on me” Boze yelled loudly above the cheering crowd, accompanied by a woman loosely hanging underneath his arm. His generosity definitely was created by his favorite choice of, drink. Winter's edge brandy something both Gajeel and Boze had both come up with in their much younger years. The two men finding comfort at the bottom of a cup together through hardships. “Broze we know you're broke” A man's voice yelled from the crowd causing the drunk man to turn over his shoulder stammering slightly. “What?! Who said that?” he shouted back into the crowd.
Gajeel shook his head massaging his temples as chous erupted. Just then a familiar voice snuck its way into his ears. “Hard day?” the drowsy voice asked, in the meliconlic tone she was known for. “What do you think ?” Gajeel asked with a raised brow greeting the cup that had been sat in front of him. Obviously on the house, considering it was from Juvia and if it wasn't the two would share some words. “I think you should be nicer to the person who gives you free drinks,” Juvia replied in a low tone huffing to herself as she snatched the mug off the table.
A loud clash broke through the air, it was Boze who had fallen off the table, trying to stand on one foot. Probably a wager he had just made, boze was like that. Bringing the good times to others even at the cost of himself. “He's gonna have a hell of a hangover tomorrow,” Juvia said sitting the mug back down allowing Gajeel to snatch it before it could be taken from him again. “You're telling me” he replied gulping down what he could in a single breath, it burned like hell in his throat, almost suffocating. “What the hell is that?” gajeel asked beating on his chest with a hand, trying to regain his composure before anyone else could see.
“It's rum. Rimfire rum to be exact” Juvia said with a small smile. Her long blue hair pulled back in a single braid. Keeping any sort of pieces from getting in her or other's way, juvia had tired blue eyes. Something she had inherited somewhere Gajeel didn't exactly know where. The only thing that the two shared in common was their nonexistent father. Both were hurt by the pain he caused, both bastards without a mother.
“Don't tell me you drink this stuff” Gajeel asked pushing the cup away now dont with its fiery liquid.
“It keeps me awake. We just got a large shipment from the south. It's all that they drink over there.” The blue-haired woman responded, taking hold of the mug to finish down the last of it. As her brother watched from his seat a look of pure disgust shown on his face, juvia had always had what people call a dry sense of humor. She never really smiled much, always down in the blues rather than enjoying her young life. That being said she had the resistance of a sailor. Unable to be influenced by the strongest of drinks, unlike someone they both knew. Who was now crawling his way towards the two using empty seats to regain his footing?
“Why should we trust anything they serve in the south? They're all a bunch of uppity rich pansies.” gajeel was quick to say as his half-sister sat in the empty seat in front of him.
“Why would you think that? I hear they're are pretty great things coming from the south” Juvia asked as Boze laid his head on the back of her seat. Finding comfort in what seemed to be the smell of her hair.
“You smell like the open sea” Boze groaned petting her hair while Juvia paid no mind to his actions. “We get our grain from the south.” She said ignoring the obviously drunk man's words.
“Correction the king gets the grain from the south.” Gajeel corrected waving over another worker at the tavern to give him what he called a ‘real northern drink’. The only time Gajeel Redfox ever had northern pride was when it came to the mention of the other territories in Fiore.
“Careful if anyone hears you they'll send you straight to the dead wave and you'll never be seen again” Juvia joked in her same dry manner. Which obviously gained not a single laugh from Gajeel who sipped on his ale quietly.
“You think that's funny don't you?” he asked. Which made Juvia shrug her shoulders never responding to the question he asked. Just then boze began to stir spouting nonsense like he always did when he got like this.
“You smell just like her ju.” boze mumbled to himself still lightly petting the girl's hair, both gajeel and Juvia knew that there was no malice behind Boze's actions. His lips now lose after his third full cup, “I miss Sue” mumbled once more now making an uncomfortable silence surround the three at the mention of Sue. Bozes' sister. Both Juvia and Gajeel exchanged looks never outwardly saying what the two were thinking, like some sort of sibling telepathy. Finally speaking when the both of them felt that it was needed.
“So we both agree Boze needs to go home,” Juvia spoke up in her flat tone even though she tried to say it in a caring way. “I'll take him back.” gajeel agreed standing up as the tavern continued to below out loud sounds. He wrapped his arm under Bozes, lifting the equally large man to lean against himself. So that they could make the difficult walk back, down the alleyways, and to the district that they called home. As the two walked jaggedly swishing side to side boze sang to himself a sad song. Something that he would usually do whenever he got too drunk to be sane.
“In the shadow of the mountains, where the iron veins run deep” Boze hummed dragging out each word.
“I heard the tales of old men, as they speak of things they keep” continuing with the song. The memory of drunken fathers coming from the minds sings the verses that filled Gajeel's mind as he continued to drag Boze through the street.
“Boze, I don't think this is the time to be singing” Gajeel joked in a light tone, his buzz highlighting his giddy feelings.
“The dragons fought, and the world was torn. A land born from fire, where hope is worn. We drink our ales and cry our woes, for the land we live in only sorrow sows.” boze continued to hum now growing louder with each verse. He could be heard through the empty alleys, while his friend dragged him along. It wasn't until they two were halfway home and Boze was halfway through his song till the two stopped. A group of men dressed in long fur cloaks stood near the end huddled together speaking in a hushed whisper. Stopping as soon as they saw the two men coming toward them slowly.
“Oh, the wind that howls, through the frozen night. Echoes the clash of dragons, the endless fight, from the iron mountains to the darkened plains. We carry the weight of ancient pains.” boze continued to sing as Gajeel stopped. Standing still right in front of the men they all made eye contact with each other. Seemingly waiting for the others to move first before any action was made.
“Just let us pass through and we’ll be on our way” gajeels deep voice echoed against the back ends of the stone buildings.
“Go another way” one of the voices spoke up with a measured tone.
“Can't, this is the only way home” Gajeel responded.
“Kid, take the hint, you're not wanted here” another voice spoke up. Stepping forward seemingly reaching for something. Before the first man stopped him with an outreached arm so that any of them wouldn't pass by his authoritative voice speaking again. “If you know what's good for you, redfox. I wouldn't pass through here”.
Redfox? Did this man just call Gajeel Redfox, that means he had to know him in some type of way. It wasn't like Gajeel wasn't known in his district, but not enough to be known as just Redfox. “No redfox around here,” Gajeel said with a raised brow, setting Boze propped up against a wall. So that he wouldn't fall too hard to the ground. “Oh, the curse that binds us, no end in sight. We drink to forget, but we know it's not right. In the north, we bleed, we live, we die. Under a sky that forever cries.” Boze continued on singing, as Gajeel confronted the two men with a narrowed brow.
The back door to one of the buildings opened up, shining a light into the alleyway. “Hey Metalicana, we're about to start” someone yelled letting in the group who slowly trotted in. Wait did he just say Metalicana? He's heard that name before at some point “Wait, what's your name?” Gajeel asked taking a few quick steps forward. Trying to catch up to the men before the door shut loudly. Gajeel stood there not moving having the choice between that door or his drunk friend. Gajeel Redfox had to make a choice.

hey! I was wondering if you could write a rogue x male! reader about him comforting you whilst you are crying - or atleast really upset.
If you want, you can be specific about what the reader is upset about but I have no idea of what that should be.
thank you so much! sorry if it isn't specific enough <3
I'm here for you
Series: Fairy Tail.
Character: Rogue and Frosch.
Genre: A little bit of angst with comfort.
Proofread: Yes.
Reader: Male.
Notes: Apologies this took way longer than it should have.

Everything had just been going badly for you the entire day ever since you had woken up. From little things to major things in your day all of it had just been going wrong and it was stressing you out. No matter what you did it seemed today that anything just resulted in a bad outcome.
All you want to do was see your beloved Rogue however you weren't sure where he was. "He is most likely out with Sting on a job." You thought aloud. "Frosch thinks so too!" Spoke with Frosch they had not been with Rogue wherever he was but instead with you.
You appreciated them being with you despite Rogue not being there having Frosch. With you was begging to make you feel better already. Still, you couldn't help but admit you still wanted to see Rogue.
You had been with Frosch in your room for a while just trying to forget about your eventful day. But although you wanted to what had happened to you just kept playing in your mind over and over again. All you wanted to was forget about it yet you just couldn't.
Remembering what happened to you today was beginning to be too much for you. You couldn't stop the tears that fell from your face as you hugged Frosch closely.
Just then as it was beginning to be all too much for you a pair of arms wrapped around you. It was him it was Rogue you didn't even hear him come into your room at all. Rogue wasn't one for words and you knew this however he showed his love and appreciation with his actions.
"I'm sorry I wasn't here for earlier but I'm here for you now M/N." He spoke as you relaxed into his arms. "Tell me what's troubling you M/N? Or if you wish just stay like this that's fine too." Rouge spoke again as he held you close.
"I'd rather not talk about but now that you're here I feel as if I could forget it all." You told him from your day you were tired just so tired. You closed your eyes as you began to drift to sleep in Rogue arms. "I'm sorry for not being here before but I'm here for you now. I'll always love and protect you M/N."

“And I’m the light that shines brightest because of your shadows,” Sting had managed the faintest of smiles at that. It had been their saying ever since they had grown old enough to understand the nature of their magic, and the complimentary and opposing forces they wielded.
When Rogue falls, Sting consumes and is consumed by his shadows.

Well, he was just hanging around
Then he fell in love
And he didn't know how
But he couldn't get out
Just hanging around
Then he fell in love
Sting was bright and quick to attack, while Rogue tended to hang back and study the situation, which wasn't normal for his guildmates. He was weird; he knew it, and that was okay.
Sting could be in the spotlight; he liked it there, grinning and waving at the people who loved him. Rogue was okay with being in his shadow; being his shadow. He liked the dark more than Sting did, anyway.
Besides, when Sting rushed over to grab his hand, all big grins and delighted laughter, Rogue liked basking in his light.

Hi my Fairies, I realized something.
I've been showing you all these little headcannon things for my fic, and haven't actually shared with you my fic. So, here it is.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/49798189/chapters/125704858
The Name of the fic is 'Our Souls Weave Through' it is a dragon slayer telepathy/connected souls fic, with all 7 Slayers.
Currently it's only 2 chapters in, which is way before any of the events that lead to them being how they are in my Headcannon Recolorings.
But I hope you guys will check it out, and leave comments on what y'all think.

I was bored so I decided to make the start of an incredibly tropey and lore inaccurate Stingue fanfiction. Good luck reading this
Chapter 1: an expected encounter
It was a beautiful day outside, birds were singing, flowers were blooming, and Rogue thought it a good idea to walk to Dragon slayer academy, with his hair in his iconic messy bun. He had spent his days reading books about dragons instead of going outside and hanging out with friends like the other popular kids did, instead rogue preferred to spend his time studying for exams, reading books about dragons, or cleaning his specs and his cat which was correctly named fresh. Fresh walked alongside Rogue, avidly listening to what Rogue had to say about the latest dragon. “So yeah, I also read about this fascinating dragon that could breathe air, isn’t that so cool?”, Fresh responded “Ribbi-“but his words were interrupted by a crash behind them. “Hey, you there…” the stranger said as he got to his feet.
Rogue recognized the voice, Sting, one of the popular members of the school. He was also Rogue’s next-door neighbour. Rogue knew that because of all the parties being thrown at his house. They weren’t very familiar platonically, but Rogue had learned a lot from the things Sting had said and done during class time. “Rogue”, Sting said, “I was just up that tree to help get my cat down, you wouldn’t mind taking a photo of me, would you?”. Many thoughts went through Rogue's head, was this another prank? Like that time Sting asked Rogue if he wanted to hang out. Of course, Rogue was very smart, he knew that was a prank and declined before his reputation was ruined, but he didn’t see how any harm could come of this, so he took out his phone with a sigh and snapped the photo. Before he knew it sting had walked off, to which Rogue ran over, asking “Hey, do you not want me to send the photo to you?”. Sting grinned at Rogue, teeth shining in a way that put Rogue in a trance, “Nah, you can keep it” before walking off.
Rogue was left frozen on the spot as Sting walked off, cat under his arm like a football player with their ball. He looked down at the photo he now had of Sting, his smile was so pretty it made him think about something other than dragons for once, in fact, it even made him blush a bit. Rogue walked on to school wondering if there would be any more chance encounters with the ever-enigmatic Sting.
(will probably only do yes after a convincing amount of votes. then again i might just get bored one day and write a second chapter anyway)
