His mother was jazz singer, and his father was pianist and songwriter. He had violent episodes when he was a young child. His parents motivated him to pursue music when he was a small child. 📣📕📗 He taught himself how to play the piano, guitar, and drums and created his first melody when he was seven. His parents divorced when he was ten, and the following several years were spent continually swapping houses, sometimes living with his father and occasionally with his mother. 📣📕📗 When he was 14 years old, he started his first band, Grand Central (later known as Champagne). Prince was created to transform both music and the world. The perfect showman famed for his sexual shows and musical brilliance has forever changed the music business. Few guys could pull off what Prince achieved, pacing the stage in high-heeled boots and clothes with Edwardian styling that enthralled the crowd. He said that he made an effort to be "as flashy and noisy" as he could to make up for a tough childhood. 📣📕📗 The lyrics to legendary performers like James Brown and Aretha Franklin were hurriedly copied down by Prince when he was still a teenager in the basement studio of a nearby DJ. Generally I shut the doors to keep the music from invading the lives of the other members of the household. But my wife was reading on the couch right over the threshold so I chose something I thought she’d enjoy. She had my son shut the door anyway. So I got to enjoy all by myself the baritone sax on “Girls and Boys” and the awesome segues and the goofy almost Queen-ish “Do U Lie?” and the “Kiss”/“Anotherloverholenyohead” one-two punch. I don’t know if you’d say that one *enjoys* “Sometimes It Snows in April” but it sure is pretty and a sad way to cool down. The sun porch was very hot so as I sweat I thought a theoretical passerby might assume it was because of the music, but really it was just western exposure to direct afternoon sunlight plus humidity.
