I'm rusty on my art history... what's the beef between Camille Claudel and Rodin??

oh it's a complicated story but she was both his pupil and lover and she was drove mad by her fear of living in his shadow. it's not really a beef, more like a tragic story. in the end, she destroyed a lot of her art and now people hardly know her name. ofc, for a long time, history of art would rather remember the name of rodin than claudel anyway.

#rodin was like in his forties/fifties refusing to marry her but keeping her around #she was much younger and even if she was good i suspect their is pressure in being the pupil of the best sculptor of europe #if i remember correcly he supported her financially when she went to the asylum #YET she suffered a lot and got erased by history of art #kind of sad really #i had a course on women in art history and my teacher was very opiniated about this subject :')#ask
