Last Song I Listened To: a cover of From Little Things Big Things Grow by Archie Roach and Ella Hooper and some other people on Rockwiz (Australian music quiz show)

Song In My Head: last one was either The Bones by Maren Morris or Fire by Springsteen. the latter of which i have been playing on repeat the last three days

Three Favourite Foods: hm. imma say spinach and feta gozleme, chocolate mousse, and popcorn, but that list could change at any moment

Last Thing(s) I Googled: ...From Little Things Big Things Grow, while watching it. Before that, ‘paladin’ so I could give my mother an accurate definition of the D&D class, and ‘lisa sanders books’ bc I was trying to remember the name of Every Patient Tells A Story.

Dream Trip: I want to do a train/ferry-only trip across UK/Europe so bad. had it all planned out pre-covid and it was probably unrealistic even then but then it became even more unrealistic. one day maybe. Also US East Coast-West Coast road trip. and going back to Hawaii and literally just spending like a year in some little house on Kauai writing. also train across Russia. i just want to go places basically

            Paul Dempsey is an Australian music artist who is best known for being in the band Something for Kate as well as having a solo career. Dempsey was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia; both his parents were Irish immigrants. His father died in a car accident when Dempsey was aged 1 and he was raised by his mother and grandmother. His grandmother taught him how to play the piano and he started playing the guitar when he was 8 and then taught himself the drums. Dempsey appeared on RockWiz numerous times as a panelist as well as performing. Dempsey is married to Something For Kate’s musician, Stephanie Ashworth in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2005 and they have one child. Dempsey has openly spoken about depression, ‘I think a lot of people who suffer from depression feel guilty. They feel like being selfish, they feel like they shouldn't talk about it because they sound like they are whining. I think it is important to not be like that and talk about it so that people think that it is OK to talk about it.’

what were your hyperfixations when you were a wee lad?

when i was a very wee lad, in no particular order:

- harry potter because i haven’t changed at all

- anne of green gables but only the first two books

- enid blyton (huge yikes now but back then i could recite every word of the magic faraway tree)

- football (soccer)

- spongebob squarepants

- seinfeld (both my parents are very white)

- the waifs (australian band that still slaps tbh)

- rockwiz

and then when i hit my teenage years, unfortunately my ED became my main hyperfixation (any other recovering raw HCLF vegan cult members who ate 20 bananas a day?) but i did also make room for:

- taylor swift (going on fourteen years of hyperfixation there)

- cassie steele (i loved degrassi)

- glee (this is probably the reason for at least 50% of my mental issues)

- dancing (i was a musical theatre nerd who the school musical every year and loved it)

- carmilla (the youtube series. i lived for every upload)
