Under The Light Of A Thousand Stars {Joe Elliott x Reader}

I wrote this with @defleppardfan1! I hope y'all enjoy it <33

When Joe told me that there was an event he had to attend and he wanted me to accompany him, I didn’t expect it to be a dance. Joe and I had only been dating for a short time and when he asked me to come with him, I was more than happy to oblige.

As we walked into the hall where the dance was being held I took note of my surroundings. There were fairy lights across the ceiling causing a night sky effect. The rest of the decor was simple but sophisticated, plain white table cloths with minimal decorations. The music was upbeat and there were a lot of people dancing in the middle of the room. As I looked around me, my eyes glanced up at the man holding my hand.

Joe looked dashing in his suit. His red shirt matched the red dress that I was wearing. It was only buttoned halfway, showing off his chest and the necklace that he had decided to wear instead of a tie. Whilst he had done his hair nicely, it wasn’t far from the usual style that he sported which made him all the more endearing to me.

“Joe, Y/N over here.” I was snapped out of my thoughts by Phil’s voice calling us over. Flashing him a smile, Joe tightened his grip on my hand as we walked towards the group of Leppards with their dates.

“And how are we all this evening?” Joe laughed once we reached the group. They all answered at the same time, causing a collective noise. I let out a giggle as I watched them all. Taking a seat at the table next to Joe, I noticed the group of people dancing in the middle of the floor started to thin out as many couples went and sat down.

Following my gaze, the man next to me spoke up. “Shall we?” Joe offered me his hand and from the corner of my eye, I saw his bandmates do the same for their dates. With a shy smile, I grabbed his hand and allowed him to gently pull me up from my seat. Walking as closely as I could to Joe, I tried not to allow the nerves to take over as we made our way to the dance floor just as a slower song came on.

Joe pulled me close and he placed his hands on my waist as I hooked my arm around his neck. I could feel Joe’s breath on my face as we started to sway to The Air That I Breathe by The Hollies. I got lost in his sea green eyes as I found myself falling into a rhythm with him. At that moment it didn’t matter that we both had two left feet, it was like there was no one else but us in the room. Joe leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to my lips, causing me to let out a small sigh.

When the song finished, Joe and I carried on dancing, not caring about anyone around us. The two of us were just lost in our own little world. Eventually, the dance floor started to fill up again.

“Do you want to go get some fresh air?” Joe asked me as he brushed his fingertips against my cheek. Moving my hand to grasp his, the two of us made our way to the garden.

I held Joe’s hand as he led me outside of the building. It was dark out, but there were multiple lanterns along the stone path we were walking on. The light from those lanterns lit up Joe’s face in such a way that made him look like an angel. And the night sky was absolutely gorgeous, it was full of stars. Joe and I weren’t dancers so we decided to leave the slow dance and hang out outside. We walked along the path hand in hand with the little breeze flowing through our hair. It wasn’t cold, it was warm, it was a really nice night for a day in October. 

At the end of the path, there was a gazebo-like structure, with vines snaking around each pole and lanterns hanging from the ceiling of the structure. There was a table with a vase full of roses and gray metal chairs surrounding the table. I looked at Joe and raised an eyebrow thinking he planned it, but he just raised his shoulders and shrugged. I smiled in response and sat on one of the chairs, Joe did the same. 

“Do you think it was rude to just leave like that?” I asked.

“Nah, plus neither of us really know how to slow dance,” Joe responded.

“I guess so,” I turned toward the building because you could still hear the music playing, Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love could be heard from the speakers. 

“Led Zeppelin is amazing, dontcha think?” Joe asked suddenly, causing me to turn my head away from the music playing. 

“They are amazing.” I agreed. I stood up and  turned back to the building, but I didn’t move from where I was standing and sang along. After about a minute or so, I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist and Joe rested his head on my shoulder. I turned towards him, “You’re beautiful,” he looked up into my eyes, “Ya think so?” 

“Why wouldn’t I think so?” I replied.

“Well, babe,” He lifted his head up from my shoulder and turned me around so that I was facing him, “You’re gorgeous.” He said it in such a way that made me melt. I grabbed his hand, “Come Joe,” he followed.

“Where exactly are we going?” We didn’t go far, we just went to a lonely tree in a small field, “.... What are we doing here?” 

“The stars,” I turned to him, “Aren’t they beautiful?” 

“Not as beautiful as you, that's for sure,” He beamed at me and then went to sit against the tree. I followed close behind and sat with my back against his chest, his arms went around my waist and he rested his head on my shoulder again. 

“I’d give anything to stay like this forever,” Joe moved the strap of my red dress a little further down my shoulder and then Joe kissed the area where the strap was. I turned my head toward his and used my own hand to lift his head up. And just like that we kissed under the light of a thousand stars.
