In September 2002 I did a show with 94.7 The Zone at Oasis One Sixty with Mudvayne, Powerman 5000 and a brand new band called SHINEDOWN. At that time, we were introduced to the band with songs like 45, Burning Bright and Simple Man sung by a young guy named Brent Smith with bigger than life vocals that opened up our eyes to a rock monster in the making. Since then, we've watched them produce a hit machine worth of songs that have taken us 15 years through life and etched a perfect rock picture of some of the biggest songs of our time. People often ask what I like most about this business and the answer is easy. First and foremost is the escape you provide to fans in giving them a chance to see the artists that shaped their very souls. But second is watching a young band start from nothing and grow to a meaningful part of life to an entire generation and knowing you had a small part in making that happen. Fast forward to today and the band is headlining the biggest rock festivals around the world and continually producing some of the best rock anthems to date. But tonight some lucky few fans get to see and hear a scaled down version in a truly small and intimate way. Thank you to Brent Smith and Zach Myers for making a stop at The Forge tonight and letting us create and share in more life memories. Rock n Roll truly is religion and every once in a while you get to do a special one that proves that very fact.
