The science fiction movie Alien Nation premiered on October 7, 1988. According to the story, Earth made contact with aliens, known as the Newcomers, in 1988. The events of the movie took place in 1991. James Caan played police detective Matthew Sykes and was partnered with Mandy Patinkin's Newcomer Sam Francisco. The film was written by Farscape creator Rockne S. O'bannon. It went on to span a TV series and several TV movies. Brian Thompson was the only actor to appear in both the movie and the TV version. The hotly anticipated successor to Dogs Must Die has arrived. This time around I’m leading Chip by the hand through Farscape to celebrate its 25th anniversary. The Sci-Fi Channel’s dampest, foam rubber-est, most subversive and tangible original series is our topic for the next 50 or so episodes.

First we start at, and before, the beginning; with a look at Season 1, Episode 1: Premiere, and some highlights from its years of development.

Farscape: The Complete Series will be released on Blu-ray on November 21 via Shout Studios. The 22-disc box set contains all 88 episodes of the science fiction series along with the miniseries Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars.

Created by Rockne S. O'Bannon (SeaQuest DSV, Alien Nation), the show was produced by The Jim Henson Company and Hallmark Entertainment. It ran for four seasons between 1999 and 2003.

Ben Browder, Claudia Black, Virginia Hey, Anthony Simcoe, Gigi Edgley, Paul Goddard, Lani Tupu, Wayne Pygram, Jonathan Hardy, Tammy MacIntosh, Raelee Hill, Melissa Jaffer, David Franklin, and Rebecca Riggs star.

Special features are in progress and will be announced at a later date, but Shout promises hours of extras.

So I was going to do a post where I said they should make a Mass Effect show where we follow a normal Spectre as they solve exciting-space crimes, but then, omg!, that's just the 90s movie / TV show Alien Nation that no one but me remembers.

I wasn't even sure I remembered it properly so I looked at the Wikipedia page:

I assume that is the same guy who did another obscure little sci-fi show that reminds me a lot of Mass Effect?

I never got to finish the series so I'm beginning it again. Because I don't remember anything. And I'm curious.

I used to play the accompanying video game which had a lot of potential. It was a decent amount of fun. I just didn't have anyone to play with at the time. It's long defunct and shut down. 🤷🏻
